Universal Postscript Driver for Windows 7

My Pagemaker won't convert a pm6 file into a pdf without a postscript diver being installed.
I tried to download a Universal Postscript Driver for Windows 7 but apparently there isnt one. What do I do now?

Your information is very out of date. The universal PostScript driver last applied to Windows 98.
You can add a PostScript driver easily using the Printers Control Panel. For instance, choose an Apple LaserWriter.

  • Postscript Driver for Windows 7 64 bit

Hi, I'm running Adobe Pagemaker 7 in Windows 7 64 Bit which i think in itself is somewhat remarkable!
The problem i'm having is with installing the Postscript driver so that i can export the Pagemaker files as .PDFs.
The driver on the disc will not install properly, several error messages.
I've gone to the Adobe site and downloaded what looks like the latest driver - winsteng - Adobe - PostScript printer drivers : For Windows but it won't install -  I'm hoping that someone in the Community can help me with this.
    Thank You

  • Laserjet 1300 Driver for Windows 7 64 Bits

Come on HP - I need the driver for Windows 7 64 bits for my HP Laserjet 1300 series.
I installed a generic driver which works OK for some applications.
But when using my Stenograph application the box that should be printed
around the text on the printed page is NOT correct: I only see the top and left side of the box shifted by 3 inches.

Thanks very much for replying to my message. I got PCL 5 from both places -- from the Windows Update list and from the HP website. If it helps, at the hp website it is at:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=238322&p...
You can get to it through www.hp.com/go/windows7, where I also got PCL6.
I have a lenovo thinkpad x300, and connect to the LJ1300 with a USB. I installed PCL5, for example, and tried to print a simple text. But my printer does not respond (the light doesn't start to blink), and when I use the Print function, it gives me a message that indicates "error, 1 document".
I will be off of my printer for a couple of weeks but want to be up and running soon. I had hoped installation of Windows 7 wouldn't be dramatic.
    Thanks once again.
The links you cite take you to a page where there are links to:
HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5 x64
HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 x64
HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PostScript x64
As the name suggests, those drivers are intended to substitute for the "real" driver that is specific to a given printer. They primarily are intended for use where a network administrator is responsible for a variety of HP printers on a single network. See http://h20338.www2.hp.com/Hpsub/cache/343033-0-0-225-121.html  Personally, I found the "Universal Print Driver" impossible to install and configure.  Congratulations on installing it -- even if it doesn't work.
On the same page that you linked to, there is a link under the heading "Driver" that leads to "Product Support for Windows 7."  That link basically leads nowhere useful for Windows 7.  The conclusion that you're led to by these pages is that the only choice for Windows 7 is one of the Universal Print Drivers.   This conclusion is erroneous.
I can't reconstruct how I found it, but if you go to the link in my previous post (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=...) you'll get to an HP support page for using HP printers with Win 7.  Essentially, this page divides various HP printers into 6 categories and describes your options for each category:
HP and Windows 7 printer driver options available for the selected product
    HP print driver available
    Windows 7 print driver available
    HP LaserJet AIO/MFP product options
    Product will be supported
Selected product is not supported in Windows 7
The Laserjet 1300 is listed as a Category 3, which means that a driver specific to this model is built-in to Windows 7.  This is not the Universal Print Driver.   The catch is that the driver for the Laserjet 1300 isn't available in Windows 7 out-of-the-box (at least, that's what happened in my installation).  It only shows up if you permit Windows Update to update the list of built-in printer drivers.
I suggest that you completely uninstall your LJ1300.  Disconnect the LJ1300. Then, right click on its icon in Printers and Devices and select "Remove Device."  Then click on any other printer listed and then click on "Print server properties" in the menu bar.  Click on the Drivers tab and Remove the Universal Print Driver (or whatever else looks like it's related to the LJ1300.  Uninstall anything to do with the Universal Print Driver from Control Panel >  Programs > Uninstall a program.
Now, you can take one of two approaches:
What I did was just plug the printer in and turn it on.  If you've managed at some point to update the list of built-in printers, Windows should just identify and install the printer like any other USB device.  Otherwise, you should get a popup asking you to give permission to search the web for a driver. Grant the permission.  Windows will find the correct driver and install the printer.
Alternatively, go to Devices and Printers and start the Add Printer wizard.  Tell it you're installing a local printer to LPT1.  You'll get to the list of built-in printer drivers.  Select HP in the left pane and scroll through the right pane.  If you find the PCL5 driver for the Laserjet 1300, cancel the process and then add the printer as in the paragraph above.  If you don't find an entry for the Laserjet 1300, click the Windows Update button.  After a couple of minutes, the process will be finished, and now when you look there will be the PCL5 driver for the Laserjet 1300.  Cancel the process and add the printer as in the paragraph above.
    Good luck.

  • Installing HP Laser Jet 5 driver for Windows 7 64-bit or 32-bit

I had an issue with installing an HP LaserJet 5 printer to a WIndows 7 64-bit box.  I thought I would post my experience and solution to this problem so that others can quickly resolve similar issues.
If you connect as I did with a Parallel Printer-to-USB cable, then Win-7 searches for drivers automatically. But none werre found. However, using "Add Printer" via Control Panel/View Devices and Printers/Printers and Faxes, then left click starts the process for finding and installing the HP driver needed.
No need as others have suggested to go to HP Support Center to install their Universal Printing PCL 5 driver found here:
www1.hp.com/...Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5/
Hope this helps speed you on your way!

Thanks for sharing your tip RatioCynic!  That's what this forum is all about!
    Happy printing!
    Thanks!

  • CM 1017 MFP Driver for Windows 10

Hello, is there a driver for this printer for Windows 10 that will allow use of both printer and scanner

Hi,     For printing from your printer, you could be using the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (64-bit). We do not have a specifc software that can be installed to Scan, but windows 10 have a number of options in the OS that you can use to Scan from the Printer.1. Paint is one option you can use to Scan Images.2. Windows Fax and Scan is a another app in Windows 10 you can use to scan a photo or document.     Search Windows for fax, and click Windows Fax and Scan in the list of results.3. HP Scan and Capture is a simple application that captures photos and documents from your network or USB connected HP printer. These photos and documents can be previewed, saved, printed, or shared to other applications.    Install the App from the Windows Store. Bops

  • PS driver for Windows 7?

Well, people are moving to Windows 7, and so must I. However, my trusty (and ancient, by electronics standards) Minolta PageWorks/Pro 25 printer, with Adobe PS 3 (3010.106) SIMM, is now just a very large piece of metal and plastic on my desk. It is working perfectly well with OS X 10.6 and Win XP.  Why should I have to shell out another $400 or whatever to replace a printer that is working perfectly?
Does anyone know of a free or for sale generic PS driver for Windows 7? Of course I would like something free, but if there's something to buy, I would happily do that. Any suggestions as to how to get a (networked) PS printer to work with W 7?  (I do still have its PPD.) Thanks for any pointers.
    -Conrad

There is no such beast as an Adobe Printer Driver for any version of Windows beyond WIndows NT4 and WIndows'98. The Adobe Printer Driver Installer simply associates a user-specified PPD (PostScript Printer Description) file for a particular printer model with the PSCRIPT5 driver that comes with the operating system for versions of Windows starting with Windows 2000. In most cases, it is not at all different than using the Add Printer wizard.
Note that the Adobe Printer Driver Installer does not work with any version of Windows beyond Windows XP and with no 64-bit version of Windows. (It is a 16-bit application and such applications won't even run on 64-bit Windows.)
Adobe has not plans to update that installer given that the original versions of Windows for which it was intended no longer are supported by Microsoft and similar functionality for PostScript printers is available through the Add Printer wizard (normally using the same PSCRIPT5 driver as a base used by the old Adobe installer) or through custom installers provided by individual printer manufacturers. Very, very few printer vendors provide truly unique PostScript drivers for their (typically) CloneScript printers; such drivers typically don't work properly with PostScript-centric applications such as Adobe Acrobat & Reader, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe's Creative Suite applications, QuarkXPress, CorelDraw, etc. Many vendors (including those using Adobe PostScript) use PSCRIPT5 as a base with their own PPD as well as proprietary driver plug-ins that provide some "product differentiation" to the driver (sometimes good, sometimes bad).

  • Ppd required for postscript driver for frequency lpi print changes

Hello,I need a PPD to support my postscript driver for frequency lpi document print changes.I am running hp pav dv9000 with hp laserjet p2015n
and illustrator cs3,have tried so many things but still belive it must be something so simple either the wrong PPD or a setting in cs3.I can offer further information if anyone can help.

Locate the PPD-file by a windows search for *.PPD.
Open by WordPad and and check by reading the header whether
    it's the correct one.
A PPD can have several names (file name, internal name,
nickname, for instance, but all are in plain ASCII).
When the PPD is identified, then print the relevant parts
    about screens (Lpi,dpi) on paper.
Use in the settings only Lpi/dpi combinations which are
    mentioned in the PPD.
I'm not sure whether other combinations are simply ignored
or replaced by the nearest parameters in the PPD.
This may depend on the printer.
I had tested 1200dpi toner printers by 90/100/120Lpi.
The results were different, accurate measurement was not
    possible.
90Lpi delivers less geometric resolution, but more levels.
Good for smooth gradients, as in portraits.

  • If i install microsoft office after partitioning my hard drive for windows, will it be available on both sides of the partition?

If i install microsoft office after partitioning my hard drive for windows, will it be available on both sides of the partition? Will it be universal for the computer or would i have to install it on both operating systems? Or, if I install office BEFORE partitioning, will it be available on both platforms after i partition?

If I understand your questions correctly, then I'm inclined to say no. Office for Windows and Office for Mac are two completely different applications. if you run via BootCamp, only one partition will boot.
If you want to run Mac and Windows at the same time, you could do what I did:
    Get Parallels
Install Windows as VM on top of Parallels
    Install Office in Windows
Now, you can run your OS X, jump into Parallels' WIndows and use Office that way.
It needs a lot of RAM, 4 is a bare minimum to realy make it sensible, 8 wouldn't hurt.

  • Universal Binary Driver for Photosmart C6180

Is there a Universal Binary Driver for the Photosmart C6180?
I'm trying to use Presto Page Manager, a Paperport-like application for OS X, and it isn't recognizing the scanner. Their tech support (or what passes for it) is telling me I have to use a Universal Binary Driver.

Since the printer works on a different computer, it sounds like the issue is strictly software based.
It sounds like a complete reinstall of the software for the printer needs to be done.  Ensure that the software is uninstalled from the Vista system.
If the fatal error appears again, try using the A 'Fatal Error' (MSI error) Displays on the Computer During HP Software Installation in Windows document from HP for assistance with the fatal error.

  • HP Officejet 4255 driver for Windows 7, 32 bit. Not in pull up list or OS(can't update)

HP Officejet 4255 driver for Windows 7, 32 bit.
Driver is not in pull up list and not in OS(can't update OS basic). Almost all series are listed but 4200 series is missing.
After upgrade to Windows 7, it has become a problem. Some solution should be given.

Ok, I found in the Net the drive 7uw706ww.zip, which is Version 6.1.4.2, while the updated version is 6.1.10.5 (7UW708WW).
I tried again the GPS, and it wasn't working.
Anyway, before downgrading, I tried to reinstall the new driver, downloading and installing the .exe instead going through System Update.
Result: now GPS is working (same place, same conditions, just 5 minutes later)!
Don't know where the difference is...

  • Lenovo Thinkpad 8 Wifi driver for Windows 10?

I've installed Windows 10 Technical Preview on my Lenovo Thinkpad 8. It's been working pretty nicely, except for one thing: the Broadcom Wifi card driver (Broadcom BCM4324 Wireless LAN Driver). Since this doesn't work I have to use a USB antenna.
This driver has gotten no update since the release of the Thinkpad 8! I tried running it in "Windows 8 compatibiliy mode" and that still doen't work. Does anŷone know of a possible way to make it work (either with an update, or an older driver in compatibility mode)? Any idea or suggestion (or word from Broadcom) is welcome!

I had the same problem and installed the Win 8.1 version of the driver.
First deinstall the microsoft driver, download the driver from http://support.lenovo.com/<xx>/<xx>/products/tablets/thinkpad-tablet-series/thinkpad-8/?tabName=Down...
replace <xx> by your language code. eg. en (my language code was de)
look for Broadcom BCM4324 Wireless LAN Driver for Windows 8.1 (32-bit) - ThinkPad 8 or (64-bit in case)
Start the installer and you're done.

  • HP Deskjet 1280 Driver for windows 8.1 Pro

    Hi Team,
I have upgraded my compter operating system from windows 7 professional to windows 8.1 pro now, I unable to install  HP deskjet 1280 printer to new operating system.
Can you please send me a link to download the driver.
    Regards,
    Umesh

    Hi @Umesh_kanth ,
I understand that you need the driver for Windows 8.1. I would be happy to help you.
I checked the website and unfortunately there isn't any drivers to be able to download for Windows 8.1 for the HP Deskjet 1280 Printer. But you should be able to install the printer with a Windows generic driver. Plug the printer into the computer to see if Windows will automatically install a OS. driver.
You might have to add the driver manually, here are the steps:
Go to the start up screen. (tiles menu)
Type in "Devices and Printers", select settings, click on Devices and Printers.
Click on Add Printer and follow the steps.
Select the HP Deskjet PCL3 Class Driver from the list.
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!
