Universal SPREADSHEET app iPhone + iPad

So I have an iPhone 4 and an iPad wifi only. Which is the best app to handle spreadsheets?
I need it more for searching and reading really really really long spreadsheets and i would prefer an app that works both on the iphone and ipad (not having to click on X2)
Editing function is optional but read and search are necessary
Budget Free - $10
any suggestions

My experience is that they all have good points and bad points. No one is ideal.
1) Docs 2 Go doesn't support printing, and locks the file for editing if it doesn't support the Excel function
2) Office 2 HD is (in my opinion) probably on balance the best, but it doesn't support xlsx files (yet). It does have native printing, and it just ignores a function it doesn't like, so that when the file is reloaded into Excel, then the formula integrity is maintained and it calculates OK.
3)Numbers has by far the nicest UI, but is let down by poor Excel support. Also, it replaces functions it doesn't like with the last calculated numerical value. This means that all the formula data is lost when you reload into Excel.
If only MS could be persuaded to released an Office version for iOS!

How to Get Rid of Update Option on an App, iPhone, iPad etc...

I understand this is not possible, yet!
Please fix this one annoying oversight/bug you have had for ever. The option to "Update All" is great but it's useless if you have one or more apps that you don't want to update. Not everyone wants to update everything, agreed? Why not give us all an option to select an app that we wish not to be included in our updated list of apps to our devices such as our iPhone, iPad etc...?
For example, I have Splash id, 4 since 2008, if I do an "Update All" which is crucial (because I have many, many apps to update at a time and I like to update them all at once on my WiFi once every month or so) I'm forced to update Splash to version 6. I don't want 6 because this version is "not compatible" with the Desktop Version! I use the desktop version everyday to sync all my new passwords etc....
In order to make the Desktop version work I need to pay Splash yet another $10 to upgrade? I'm happy using my old version, it works fine.
So because you don't have an option to exclude this app with the updates, I have to sit there for hours just updating my apps one by one?
Appears to be an easy fix, how has this slipped by you for sooo long?
There has to be many of you out there experiencing this problem. If this post goes viral maybe Apple will see it and do something about it?

Is there a spreadsheet app for iPad Air?

I use Excel in my business. Is there a spreadsheed app compatible with Excel for the Apple iPad Air? Or even one that is not compatible with Excel?

I highly recommend Cloud On. It's Excel, Word and Powerpoint in one.
It also Syncs to Dropbox so you can access the files on any device that has dropbox connected.

Export for iPhone & iPad same time - Without resolution issues?

I have developed an app for the iPhone and it runs perfectly fine on the iOS for iPhone. I am trying to port it to the iPad so I have done the proper stage adjustments and have set export as "iPhone & iPad"
It opens up fine on my iPad, but the same app opens distorted on my iPhone (since the stage resolution isn't native, so it gets squished)
How can I make my app iPhone/iPad friendly all in one IPA?

IPhone & iPad text entry as universal app (need text to resize?)

I'm building a universal app for the iPhone and iPad that has a login screen that needs to obviously use text input..
This all works fine, I'm developing at the iPad size and letting it auto-scale to the iPhone size (I have made allowences for the extra screen size).. only downside is, on my iPad text is the correct size during entry, but when trying to type on my iPhone it remains at the iPads text setting - which is 40 when it needs to be about 14 to fit in the text box when on the iPhone screen.
anyone tried to deal with this problem?

Could you please, write here you application.xml file for the iPad (or universal iPhone/iPad ) application? I can't compile my application for wide iPad screen - it works as iPhone app (320x480).

If I've bought an app for iPad which also is available for iPhone, can I then download it for free on my iPhone?

If it is exactly the same app then you can re-download it for free - all your previously purchased apps (that are still available in the store) should show in the Purchased tab at the bottom of the App Store app on the iPad, or in the Purchased link on the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes . If the app doesn't appear in Purchased then you haven't previous purchased it with that account. The '+' indicates that the app is a 'universal' app i.e. it has processing within to detect what device it is on and will tailor it's screen display accordingly (so it will make use of the larger iPad screen and not just use an iPhone sized portion of the screen).

I assume that you mean Numbers, in which case the iPad version can be used on the iPhone (if you've got the current version of Numbers then you will need iOS 5 on your iPhone). It can't be used on your iMac as that is a different operating system, you will need the Mac OS X version for that - but you can use spreadsheets created in Numbers on the iPad in Numbers on the Mac and vice versa.

You can't do anything in the background of iOS. Apps are still one at a time (with a few exceptions like Music), and suspend when the app is closed. It's also against the App Store guidelines to sell apps that would allow such actions.
Though, maybe you could get your Voice Memos saved to MP3's, which can play in the background of other apps.

Remote app for iPad Wont show songs but iPhone Will

I have a Strange problem with airport Express and airtunes
From my iPad 4.2.1 running Remote app for iPad if i search for an artist, like Gary Moore, it shows the artist name, but when i Press the name it doesnt display the songs with this artist, it says no songs found.
But if i use the same app on both my iPhone 4 and my iPod touch, and do the same search and Press the artist name, it shows All the songs that i have with this artist
Both the iPad and the iPhone connects to the same airtunes library, on the same machine with iTunes 10.1?
Does anybody have any ideas of what is wrong
I have tried to reinstall the app on the iPad, but that diednt work, i have tried to delete the library on the iPad with no luck

I know this is an old question, but I had the same problem and found the solution somewhere else and thought I'd post it here as this thread comes up when googling for the answer.
It appears as though any songs without an "Album" don't appear. In iTunes select all songs without an album, right click and select "Get Info" and give them an Album name (e.g. "Unknown" or "Singles"). This might also apply to songs without other tags.

When i download a new app on ipad it does not show up on iphone

I have icloud turned on on my ipad and iphone but when i download a new app on my ipad or iphone it does not always show up on the other. Its getting very aggravating and I have no idea how to fix this!!!!!!!!!

Make sure the app is supported on both devices. Some apps are iPad only. Also make sure they are supported by the iOS version on each device if they are running different versions of iOS.
Turn on automatic downloads on both devices:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Select items you want to download automatically fom the Automatic Downloads section

delete off any apps that are asking for the wrong apple id and download/sync them over from the correct one

Do any fellow iTunes U administrators know anything about this? How is existing content presented in the new app? Would we need to change anything? How do we access / make available the new features?
The new features sound fantastic but it would have been nice to have some warning. I appreciate that Apple has to keep specific details about developments confidential but it's slightly disconcerting that iTunes U administrators were not forewarned about this new development and that there has been no mention of it on this forum. Also - and at the risk of sounding like a broken record - it really would be helpful for iTunes U administrators to have a private forum (perhaps an add-on to Public Site Manager) where we could discuss issues and share ideas and best practice etc.

Sounds like you are a bit confused with version numbers.
Latest AirPort Utility version for the iPhone / iPad is 1.3.3. There is no option or capability to export/import settings on the iOS version(s) of AirPort Utility.....although you could take a series of screen shots and save them for future reference.
AirPort Utility 6.3.x is found on a Mac.....not on iPhone / iPad. Export and Import options are found under the File menu in 6.3.x.

Is there ONE single app available for TASK and CALENDAR both which can be synched with Google account for OSX, iPhone, iPad

I have been searching to death to find ONE great app which:
1- handles both calendar (events) & To-Do list (task).
2- connects to googla account (both calendar & task)
3- should be availabe in Mac OS (OSX), iPhone & iPad (iOS) & Android.
For instance, Pocket Informant, Calengoo or BusyCal.
All of them takes care of the first, but fail in at least one of the remaining features.
Pocket informant:
1- Yes
2- Calender: Yes, Task: No
3- No Mac OS X version but it gives to web-based app (15$).
Calengoo:
1- Yes
2- Yes
3- No Mac OS X version.
BusyCal:
1- Yes
2- Calender: Yes, Task: No
3- No Portable Version. (iOS & Android).
There is no one or combined solution for this!!! If there is no single software to take care of both, please give me a solution but keep in your mind that ONE app is very important to me on a single device not two because I know already that!

here is a schematic that I *Think* should work, but I haven't bought BusyCal 2 yet. Reminders syncs with Toodledo, which syncs with Pocket Informant (I've tested this, and can now create PI tasks by talking to Siri); Reminders also syncs w/ BusyCal 2, so Busycal *should* be able to create, edit and delete tasks that will appear on Pocket Informant, and the reverse *should* be true. Likewise, iCal syncs w/ both BusyCal 2 and Pocket Informant's appointments. Thus BusyCal becomes your desktop hub, and everything *should* be sync'd up with PI on your iOS device. I don't know anything about Android.
