Universal Wireless Keyboard 3169WWZ has letters not working
Hi all, can anyone help me. I have had the same problem with two of these keyboards. On the right hand side of the keyboard, there is a whole section that is 'dead'. The o,p, brackets, k,l,commas, periods, etc. do not register at all. I am extremely frustrated because this is the second keyboard with this problem. The first one lasted a few months and it is the same with this one. Any suggestions?

I'm holding in my hands the "Limited Warranty" pamphlet for the Universal Wireless Keyboard (Palm pamphlet#: 406-10460-00). It states:
"HARDWARE: Palm, Inc. (Palm) warrants to the original end user (Customer) that new Palm branded products will be free from defects in workmanship and materials, under normal use, for one (1) year from the original purchase date. Palm warrants refurbished Palm products, marked and sold as such, for ninety (90) days from the original purchase date."
I'd call back, state the obvious mistake by the CSA (and who gets PAID to know this information!) and that you'd like to speak to a supervisor, or at least someone who can read English from the pamphlet mentioned.
The pamphlet goes on to say (you should have one or two of these!) that Palm has the choice to either refund your purchase cost, or send you a reconditioned unit as a replacement if the device cannot be repaired. Dated proof of purchase will also be required.

A.: If your wireless keyboard and mouse do not work even after changing the batteries, please try re-syncing them by following these steps.
1. Make sure the computer is on, plug in the USB receiver. Push the button on the USB receiver until it flashes blue.
2. While the receiver is still flashing, press the red connect button on the keyboard (Make sure the batteries are installed). The USB receiver should stop flashing after pressing the button on the keyboard. It may take up to 8 seconds to sync.
3. Repeat the same process for the mouse. Push the button on the USB receiver, then press the connect button on the mouse (Make sure the mouse is on).
Note: This applies to all MSI All-In-One computers that include the ES500W wireless keyboard and SW130 mouse."This machine has an added 4 USB ports, could this be causing a problem?
It definitely could be the source of the problem. Perhaps the PCI card was bumped loose during shipping?
Have you tried removing the card? That's where I would start.

Hi all,
I am having some problem with the Apple Wireless Keyboard. It has not problem connecting to both my iPad mini / iPhone 4S.
The problem comes when I start to type with it. All the keys are functioning will, except when I am trying to capitalise the letter 'r'.
I tried using Shift + r. It doesn't work, regardless whether I use the left or right Shift key.
Any someone help please. Thank you.If your Macbook is less than a year old, it is under warranty. A repair of of a problem of this kind would be free. So, if you have a warranty, have the problem fixed by Apple.
If your Macbook is more than one year old, please tell us what operating system you are running, and any other information that would help understand what is going on.
If you do get the keyboard to work for a short time, long enough to post back, please unlock the "caps lock" button. -
Wireless keyboard caps lock light not working
Hey, said it all in the title but here's the story...
Got home today and realized that the caps lock LED don't light up anymore. Has anyone else had similar problems? If so, how was your situation rectified?
The keyboard still works fine, don't think its a bad enough problem to have it replaced or be without it for ages. Could see if apple will allow a straight swap at the shop...Hi Guys
Glad I've just found these posts. Got a new 27" iMac just before Christmas. Greatly relieved that everything worked despite all the reports of cracked screens, etc. BUT - only small problem was the Caps Lock light not always coming on. Rang Apple and got a replacement. Now today I'm having same problems - first the light froze and wouldn't go off. Then it wouldn't come on. I've now tried your advice of switching off the keyboard and taking out the batteries. Works OK now. Hopefuly it'll stay that way. Only thing is - pity Apple couldn't have given me that advice. Reading these posts, there is clearly an ongoing problem with the caps lock light on the wireless keyboard. A problem thats been around for months. Clearly Apple's poilicy, as always, is to admit nothing until it comes up with a fix. Pity that policy appears to extend to not even telling their own employees that there is a problem ... -
Wireless keyboard connected but does not work.
My wireless numeric keypad is connected to the iMac, but does not work. Wireless keyboard and mouse are OK. Tried connecting/disconnecting and restarting the Mac to no avail. Everything was fine yesterday. Any suggestions?
Try a SMC reset (could help, cannot hurt):

Vista 64 bit with apple wireless keyboard volume, cd eject not working
I successfuly got Vista Ultimate 64 bit installed in Boot Camp on my Mac Pro, and got my Apple wireless mouse and wireless keyboard working after some trouble. But I still can't use the volume control or the cd eject or brightness control keys in Windows Vista.
Any suggestions?Maybe you could update the Boot Camp drivers. That happened to my internal keyboard, and updated drivers some times fixed it. Other times it fixed itself after a few restarts.

The Status function won't stay on for my Universal Wireless Keyboard 3169WWZ
I have worked on this for many hours with no success. I think the problem is the Keyboard Status. I have downloaded the update for this keyboard and it seems to be functioning except...They keyboard status will not stay in the On position. I have to re-install the updated driver to the turn it on. It will stay on for awhile but then turns on. At other times when it is in the On position the keyboard still does not work but keyboard will at other times . If I turn the Status to Off, I can not turn it back on again until I reset my Zire 31. In general it behaves very irratically. Any suggestions? All of this is true whether the IR is selected, or not, in the Connections application. I have soft reset the Zire on more than one occassion. The Zire and keyboard are several years old and I haven't used them in two years. The batteries in the keyboard are new. The Zire is full charged and is fully functioning to include HotSync. Thank you for our help.
Post relates to: Zire 31Do you remember this issue before you let the device sit for two years? It could be that the keyboard is not working correctly due to the not being used for a long time. Before we get to replacement options, make sure that both IR ports are clean. I would use a damp not wet cloth on both ports to see if that helps clear up the issue.
If it does not you can try a hard reset on the Zire but you may need to replace the keyboard and/or the device

Apple Wireless Keyboard - Volume & Brightness keys not working Windows 7
Finally got my wireless keyboard working within Windows 7 but the volume / Eject / Brightness keys all do nothing - all other keys appear fine.
I have reinstalled the bootcamp drivers for the 2nd time but still nothing. I had this all working previously but have factory restored my iMac and cant remember how I originally did this..
Any ideas?Maybe you could update the Boot Camp drivers. That happened to my internal keyboard, and updated drivers some times fixed it. Other times it fixed itself after a few restarts.

Universal Wireless Keyboard by Palm: Keys do not work properly
4 keys on the right side of the keyboard (0, P, L, ".") do not work, and I find it very annoying, because it's been a common problem among all the Palm keyboard I have used.
I have owned 3 Palm keyboards so far. The first one was Palm Wireless Keyboard. It worked great at first, but after about 8 months of use, the keys on the right stopped working. It was not a software problem, I was sure, because I'd performed all the resets (soft, hard, you name it) but it did not resolve the problem. Since the keyboard was still under warranty, Palm replaced it with a new Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard. It worked great at first, but after several months of use, the keys on the right stopped working as well. Palm did not replace this keyboard but I got a new Palm TX around the time, and the Palm sent me Universal Wireless Keyboard free with it, so I just started using the new one, which, worked great at first, but then gave away after several months of use. And I'm TIRED of it.
The keys will work sometimes, but mostly don't, at least not promptly. If I hold down the troubled keys and wait long enough, sometimes they will start working. The keyboard makes a soft ticking noise when I press down on the normal keys, but the troubled ones don't, when they are not working, and I'm guessing this has to do with the wiring.
I was wondering how I can fix this problem. It is VERY annoying when the keys suddenly stops working when I'm taking notes in the class or just won't start working at all.

Heck' I've been using $20 MK120 Keyboard/Mouse Combo's with all of my Mac's for years.

My Wireless mac keypad has stopped properly working. The keys sometime do not correspond to the result, or a a simultaneous duel actio, for example when the delete button is pressed the. Ursor does go backwards, but it also turns the sound up. The keyboard is properly connected to the computer, and the battery life is up in the nineties.
Help please !!!!Hi, thankyou for your response. Can I just confirm that you mean turning the computer on and off again, or re-booting the whole system. If it is the first I have already turned the system on and off, with no luck.

My Macbook Air (13", mid 2011) right after I did the Maverick OS update. My keyboard on Macbook Air is not working and it says "There isn't a keyboard connected" (Bluetooth Keyboard Setup). I do not use a wireless keyboard. Apparently my bluetooth works because my wireless mouse works. I am currently stuck at my login screen not being able to get in because I can't even enter my password. I am, however, able to login as guests and get to the Keyboard viewer to type things with my wireless mouse. I really need my keyboard to work to use for my job. I need help please!
I forgot to mention that my power button did work but everything else, keyboard and trackpad, didn't! Anyway, I shutdown my laptop, slept, and turned it back (in hopes that it might work instead of restarting it like before). Now my keyboard and trackpad works! Thank goodness! I was about to go to the Apple store upset too!

Does the Universal Wireless Keyboard (SKU 3169WWZ) work with Vista Home Premium? I can't seem to install the software because it wants an updated driver, but can't install the driver without the software. Chicken? Egg? Chicken? Egg? eeeeek!

A .zip file is a standard file format. I don't use Vista, so I can't explain how to unzip a file with it...

Universal Wireless Keyboard Tungsten T5
Some years back I bought the PalmOne Universal Wireless Keyboard 3169WW for my Tungsten T5. When I had installed the driver I found that, even though the keyboard worked, I had lost half my screen. I could not rectify this, and had to do a hard reset (the works) to get my whole screen back. I then threw the keyboard into a drawer and forgot about it. Getting it out again recently I was tempted (silly me!) to try again. But caution prevailed and I thought I'd research other users first. This was frustrating (almost as frustrating as trying to register for this forum). Finally I thought to myself that they must have remedied this problem by now, only to see that the date on the download was still many years ago, suggesting that it was still the old, troublesome driver. Could someone tell me if I am heading for a half-screen experience still, if I download the driver? Begging.

Many thanks for the helpful replies. I held my breath and downloaded the recommended software from the Palm site. It worked! So far. The dreaded half-screen has not reappeared, so I guess I'm in the clear. My trusty T5 is working quite OK otherwise.
To the expert with the green print. Couldn't remember over those years which application I was in. All of them were affected I think. What's a DIA?
