Universe BEGIN_SQL in Dashboard Desgin

Hi all,
I am using BO 4.0 with the latest Dashboard Design version patch 11.
In the Universe I am using the BEGIN_SQL parameter, when creating WebI reports everything is fine, but the Dashboard design doesn't seem to run the BEGIN_SQL statement.
Any ideas?
Also when using the ConnectInit and not the BEGIN_SQL the dashboard designer works fine, the problem is that the Information Design tool has a bug when trying to pass the @variable('BOUSER'), so when passing a hard coded user in the ConnectInit it is fine but I need to pass the user dynamically.
Thanks

Hi Zeev,
I am facing the exact same issue that BEGIN_SQL is working perfectly find with web intelligence reports but it seems that when using universe query in dashboard design, it does not work. Any possible solution or upcoming fix for this?
I am using Information design tool

  • Process for Getting Permanent Dashboard Desginer Keycode

We are using SBOP 4 SP02 FP 6.  We have Dashboard Design 6.0.0.0.  Can someone explain the process for obtaining the permanent keycode for the Dashboard Design client?  We are using the temporary keycode that is valid for 90 days.
We are licensed for SBOP 4 and our BASIS team has applied the server license.  But if I understand it correctly, we need to obtain a keycode that can be used by each client building dashboards through Dashboard Desgin.
Have not found anything on SAP site.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Dashboards do not display data

CA Forum: Performance Management and Dashboards
I am new to Business Objects dashboards.  I built my universe & exported it to performance management to build reports & dashboards. Some how in performance management tool I am able to build web intelligence reports but not dashboards. To build dashboards, I define my measures & dimensions.  When I go to crate new analytic I am not able to see any data.  In analytic, against my measures it shows null values.  However in web intelligence reports everything gets displayed. I wonder why? Does it have to do something with settings???
    Please help me with above

When you refresh the metrics, are the time fields disabled or not??  If not then be sure to not use any kind of aggregation in the universe since the dashboard manager requires unaggregated data from the universe. I fyour using any functions (SUM, COUNT... etc) then remove them and try again. Hopefully the problem will be solved.

  • Dashboards in WEBI

We want to develop dashboards for our company. We dont have crystal Reports Xcelcius. We have WEBI and other Business Objects tools. What will be the easiest way to build dashboards with WEBI. Any thoughts and ideas will be greatly appriciated.
We want to use an existing universe and build dashboards. Once we build the dashboard we want to drill down to more details and see a more detailed version of the data.

    Hi,
If you do not have all these other tools and you are limited by licenses i.e budget, then you can of course build some dashboards using Webi. Basic, but possible.
You will only get static displays - no interaction
You will only be able to use the graphing capability available as stadard functionality.
You will be able to create alerts as per the Webi way.
You will be able use other images and so forth to make the "report" look attractive and display nice icons instead of text and so on - webi alerts have this functionality.
In a nutshell, still today, many exec's and management refer to a dashboard not in the sence of Dashboard Builder and the likes, but a simple high level report with some alerts (red, green etc)... if you want to go the smart and falshy route, then Webi will most probably fall short of the expectation.

  • WebI Report causing WIS 30270 error on UNX universe

    Hi All,
Need some expertise on a really weird error I am facing. I have a dashboard designed on a UNX universe, and a connecting URL that opens a WebI report that is also designed on the same universe. The dashboard is working fine for all the users but when the users open the WebI report, they face the WIS 30270 error which has a bunch of discussions but nothing related to the weirdness I have here.
As an administrator, I don't see the issue at all. Some general users have the issues but intermittently though. So I believe the servers are not the cause. Then I investigated access levels but users within the same user group have seen the error while others haven't encountered it at all.
The WebI reports that have been designed on BEx queries are all working fine with no issues. Please advise and help me figuring out the issue and resolving it.
    Current version of BOE: 4.0 SP6 P3
                               BW: 7.3
    Universe designed on SQL Server

I had a simular problem once, universe worked on Explorer, Dashboards but not on the WebI side.
The problem was, I used the "MOVE" option inside CMC, and moved the universe to a diferent folder. And for some reason something inside the universe still pointed to the old location, and only webi was not able to find it, I mean, it was able to find it, but not apply the correct permisions, and it would fail when I tried to refresh the report.
Can you create a new universe and test?
Or open the current one and save it with a differente name on another folder?
If that isn't it, are you using SSO on that universe?
That's it for now.. hope this helps.

  • Dashboard with Webi Report link  - Cannot access external data

    Dear Gurus,
I've a  dashboard with access to WEBI report for Language setting.
All works fine for the group: Administrators.
If I take the Users out of the Adminstrators group and assign them normal power user group, I get the message that the external data cannot be accessed. No Error # or so is displayed.
Even if I grant the usergroup Full Control / Power User on the
    Universe,
    the Connection
    Dashboard itself,
    WEBI Application
    Webservices
    Still it does not work.
As far as I can see is, that it can't be a Network (Firewall)-Problem, because it works for the memebers of the Adminstration groups - What else can it be?
I've attached the screen shot for your reference
Cannot find service name=WS_Lang_Pref or you do not have the rights to view this service.

    Hi Guys,
This error is fixed by maintaining the security profile for

CA Forum: Migration to XI R2
    hi
I migration project between two BOE XI R2. I use import wizard migration. universe, analytic and dashboard page are succeed but metric don't.
How migrate metric? who can help me.

    Post Author: rameshbalajiv
CA Forum: Migration to XI R2
    Hi:
    As per the migration guide:
If you have upgraded from BusinessObjects Enterprise 5.x/ 6.x, you can use the Import Wizard to import existing user accounts, groups, categories, Desktop Intelligence, Web Intelligence documents, universes, connection objects, universe restriction sets, and third-party documents to BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2.
Importing Application Foundation objects to BusinessObjects Enterprise XI
The Import Wizard publishes the following objects from Application Foundation 6.1 and 6.5 as InfoObjects to the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI CMS:
    applications, menus and submenus
    corporate and personal dashboards
    corporate and personal analytics
    schedules and events
links in dashboards to analytics or corporate documents
universes used in metric definitions or referenced by migrated documents (and the corresponding connections)
As in previous versions, performance management products rely on a dedicated repository that stores performance management data as well as the CMS. When you migrate Application Foundation 6.1 or 6.5 to BusinessObjects Enterprise XI, you must run the Import Wizard to import certain objects to the CMS. You must also upgrade the performance management repository in the Import Wizard if you are migrating from version 6.x, or after completion of the Import Wizard in the Repository section of the System Setup page if you are migrating from XI.
For details on migrating Application Foundation, refer to the BusinessObjects 5/6 to XI Release 2 Migration Guide.
-- So it does migrate the metric definitions as part of  InfoObjects.
    Please check it out.

  • Calendar Constrain Issue

I'm having a bit of an issue with the constraint feature on a Prompt. A little curious if what I'm trying to do is even possible
I have 2 items on my prompt.
    #1. Date Selection (calendar)
    #2. User (drop down list)
Now the User is constrained based on the Date selection. This works fine....BUT only when i press "GO". It’s almost like the Calendar doesn't post back when a new date is selected...so it ultimately doesn't constrain the drop down list until "Go" is pressed
The real issue arises when I run the report once, then change the date and press "Go".
If there happens to be a single User for that given date, the report will run against that 'new' user. However the User prompt will still display the old user from the first run until I manually change it. The Clients don't like this
Is there any way to fix this?

I believe what you are describing is the way OBI works. I haven't found a way to "fix" this so if anyone chimes in with the answer, I would be more than happy to learn what it is. But after reading some "best practices" books on OBI dashboard desgin, I read something that covers this issue that at least helps the user.
In a separate section under the Report, place a Text object in the section. Use the Guided Nav. in the section properties and have it connect to the Report with the "If request returns nothing" radio button selected.
Next, paste this in the text field:
<center><font color="red"><h3><b>Please select a value from the prompt above and hit the "Go" button.</b></h3></center> Don't forget to check the HTML checkbox. Modify the test above as you see fit.
Now the user is at least warned to select an appropriate value from the prompt.

  • Dashboard Builder integration with BO universe

    Hello,
I want to find out if we can drill down from one dashboard to another dashboard and then another dashboard in Xcelsius Enterprise.
I know that we can drill down from one level to another, however there are no examples in it.
Alternatively, you can drill drown in Dashboard Builder also, and I heard that dashboard Builder also connects to the universe data.  Is it easy to you dashboard Builder instead.
    Thanks

  • No Dashboard Design Query on OLAP Universe BO 4.0

    Hi all,
the goal would be to create a Dashboard Design Query on a OLAP MSS Analysis Services Universe (UNX).
These are steps we follow to create the Universe (UNX) with IDT on BO 4.0.
    1.) Create the Project
2.) Create the OLAP connection on OLAP Cube of MSS Analysis Services
    3.) Publish the OLAP connection
4.) Create a Business Layer on OLAP Connection
5.) Publish the Business Layer into the Repository
Using that universe ( UNX ) with Infoview we have no problem to create a WeBi document.
Using Dashboard Design Version 6.0.0.0 Build: 14,0,2,594 to create a query using that Universe ( OLAP UNX ), the system doesn't list that Universe. It seems that it doesn't exist!!!
    Someone has solved this issue?
    Thanks in advance.
    Luca Fatigati.

    Hi Nikhil,
I have the same setup as mentioned by Luca Fatigati in previous post.
Trying to create  Dashboard Design Query on a OLAP MSS Analysis Services Universe (UNX). But I am not able to .
Also I tried creating Explore on top of my UNX whcih is created on MSS Analysis Services Cube , ( OLAP UNX) , I am not able to see my UNX in Explore also .
Can you please let me know if this is not supported here as well . ?

Please help me on this issue

    Hello Venkata Ramana Pandi,
As Manoj Dhyani mention in the above thread, try changing it into CWM format and give it a try.
    Follow the below steps:
Export the DS datastore in CWM format, select the datastore and enter a XML file name
Open the Universe Builder (this option will be in BOE Program menu), you have a option in Universe Builder to import XML exported from Data Services/Data Integrator, check if that creates your Universe successfully
to use Metadata Exchange do the following
    Open Data Services Desginer
Click on tools Menu -> Metadata Exchange
    In the Metadata Exchange window
Select Export Data Services metadata to a file
Select DI CWM as metadata format
enter location for xml file (C:\temp)
Select the datastore you want to create Universe for
    Click OK
Check for file named repo_export.xml in the C:\temp folder or the folder that you specified
    Open Universe Builder and Select
    Data Integrator bridge
and use the xml file as input to create universe
