Universe corrupted

Hi,
My Universe is corrupted. I deleted a universe from the repository and now i cannot open it. I received error "You are not authorized to use this document (FRM 00008)". Then i follow the below solution
1. Create a universe on your local machine as TEST.unv
2. go to options then insert.
3. Find the local copy of your universe that you having problems with.
4. This should then open up as a second universe connection showing all the tables and connections.
5. Then goto to File > parameters then in the links tab click your universe then click include then Ok.
I get the error "This universe to be linked belongs to the another repository. The link cannot be done. (DSG0086)." when try to link the old universe with the new universe. Please help me make this universe work again, i forget to do a back up for this universe.
Thank you

Hi,
Follow these steps..
To work around this issue:
1. Make a new universe with specific name (Eg. TEST).
2. Export it and save it on the local computer.
3. Copy the name of the TEST universe and delete the TEST universe from the local computer.
4. Rename the corrupted universe with the TEST.unv name.
5. Open the TEST.unv from the local computer in Designer.
6. Export the universe
7. Import the universe again to get the corrupted universe data.
Thanks,
Amit

• Corrupt Data1.cab in Oracle Express 10g Universal for Windows

Hello Oracle Folks,
I downloaded several times Oracle Express 10g Universal for Windows (OracleXEUniv.exe) and tried to install it and I get every time the same error message: "Error 1335. The required file "Data1.cab" is corrupt and cannot be used ...". When I download the Western European Edition (OracleXE.exe) the installation works! I downloaded the file on different local disks to exclude the risk that my disk is damaged.
Can you please check if this download is sane!
Thanks and best regards Thomas Mayr

Amazing reply Hans.
I have seen some arrogent smart mouth answers in my time. But this really takes the cake. Also judging from the icon you are some kind of employee of oracle. Wow! Now that shows respect for your users.
Sorry to disappoint you - I am not an employee of Oracle. Much of your rant is irrelevant.
I am simply a person who has volunteered enough time to provide over 8,000 repsonses in these forums and many more in other forums.
Many, many, many of the questions are pure repetition due to the extreme laziness, incompetence or inability to do basic thinking by the questioners. There are also a lot of questions by 'newbies' who have obviously made an attempt to research the problem.
My approach to answering questions is simple and two-fold:
- make the person angry enough, or aware ennough, that they will think a bit when asking the next question;
- if they ask a question intelligently (http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html) I usually am convinced to help.
(And yes, I do take longer breaks when I find myself being frustrated enough to provide answers like the above.)
The stupid installation program for your stupid database was supposed to check the version of the Operating System. Anyway how does the operating system version matter if a cab file is corrupted? which was incidently packed in that stupid download link which you have happily given to all customers all this time. I was hoping to find that since you guys are too lazy to make the installation file properly you might have atleast bothered to put up a download link for that stupid Data1.cab. But nooo... The 'stupid installation program' is indeed that - a stupid installation program. It does a certain amount of checking, but definitely not enough. In that I do agree with you. It was also released too early - basrely understands how to spell Vista.
Also, there is an assumption by Oracle that the person downloading reads the documentation, especially the installation guide, that is available at the same location as the download. It is amazing and extremely disappointing to note how many people will not even attempt to look at the link.
The real sad part for me is that I frequently download software (and did again in this case) to verify that the user has a legitimate complaint. The 'data1.cab' that I received was not corrupt. Therefore I conclude the original poster made some huge assumption that is likely invalid. Now, I did install into an XP machine, and that could make a difference.
As for the 'you guys' statement - perhaps you should take that up with Oracle or an Oracle employee. Directing at me is an unsubstantiated assumption on your part. <g>
>
I wasted some time thinking I would check out the db for development, got the same error and after seeing your mealy mouthed response to that poor guy who was asking a valid question, I think I won't bother anymore. You see, there is this amazing thing called Linux and MySQL..
Yup. You could easily go there. Shows yet another assumption. (In fact, my company is centered around Linux and Oracle. And I have made a conscious decision, based on 3 decades of experience, to toss MySQL and stick with Oracle. And now that Sun, which owns MySQL, seems to be on the auction block, the future of MySQL is definitely up in the air.)
However, given how many assumptions you make and how valid they are, you may find it easier to stick with MySQL. Oracle Express edition potentially could save huge buckets of time and effort in the long run, but it does require reading, research and other skills to get up to speed.
Now, as to your problem
1) This is not the forum to discuss issues with installation. (If the problem is traced to the download source, then this is the right spot.)
2) There is a dedicated forum for Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Express Edition (Oracle Database Express Edition (XE)
3) You are absolutely correct that the installer should be smart enough to check the OS. It does not.
4) Since it does not, and since there are differences, knowing which version AND edition of Windows (or which Linux distro and release) is critical to troubleshooting.

• WebI reports getting corrupted after pointing to different version of the Universe

Hi
I am facing a very difficult and weird problem ..plz help !!!
I am curently working in a project which has different phases of testing. While migrating my reports from Dev environment to SYS, I had to change the database connection in the Universe to SYS.After doing so,I point the reports (webI reports) to this new universe.
All my report variables are getting corrupted and automatically appended with a " " in the formulae of the report
for eg if my report variable is =if([dimension object];" ";" ")
the variable becomes "=if([dimension object];\" \";\" \") "--- plz note that a \ gets appended in front of the " within the formula!!!
This problem repeated when i had to migrate the reports from UAT back to SYS!!!
I have a report which is fullly hard coded(business wants so!!) and has some 300 report variables... so I cannot manuaaly edit them in each migration
Can you please help me if you have a work around for this issue??
I read in BOB that its a BO bug,it it true?
Thanks in advance

Thanks a lot for ur quick reply
The objects in the universe are just teh same,I just import the existing universe, change the connection to SYS and then export it to a new folder.
Its behaving weird, yesterday i createda new folder instead of using the existing SYS folder for universe,i exported the universe.NOw I pointed the report with 300 variables to this new universe and it was working fine... and then when i did the same for the remaining reports..all got corrupted like stated before... i had to manuaaly go and esit every variable cause it was urgent for me to migrate to SYS.
I was saved cause my report with large variables got saved!!!

• Oracle Universal Content Management 11gR1 'download file1' is corrupt

Hello,
I am at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/content-management/downloads/index-085241.html and downloaded the part 1 and 2 of the Oracle Universal Content Management 11gR1 software. The part 2 looks good but part 1 is corupt (it is only 4mb). I tried this download from different computers and browsers which doesn't help
Does everyone have the same problem?
Thanks

Workflow for document approvals and routing is supplied out of the box without the need for separate software or installs.
What you can do is described here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10316_01/cs/cs_doc_10/documentation/admin/workflow_guide_10gr3en.pdf
The more complex integrated processes can use BPEL Manager which does require addditional component and software

• Corrupted 10g - Universal Installer won't Start - what do I do now?

Its a sorry tale!
Installed 10g - no problems, went fine.
Developed OCCI app against 10g. Set up test DB eventually getting some good results!
Realize I need 9i compatibility. Installed 9i client.
BIG MISTAKE - I think I installed in same home as 10g.
Now nothing works! Have even tried recovering PC to earlier checkpoint. Oracle still wont start.
Not even the UI will start!
What I would like to do is a COMPLETE and clean removal of 10g and start again!
I would be very grateful for any advice.
Many thanks.

Success!
I did a full uninstall and followed the clean up advice.
I re-insatlled and rebuilt my DB.
My OCCI application is now back under development!
But, just out of curiosity....why does the Oracle uninstall not provide an option to clean up and remove everything?
Thanks for your help and advice.

• Crashes and Video corruption

I'm not a first time Mac owner; I also own 2 Mini's, and iMac, and an iBook (between all members of the household). Therefore, I know what I'm experiencing is abnormal and am looking for help.
I've got two isses (not sure if they're related):
1. Random crashes. The actual OS crashes (never saw this before), giving me options to report the error to Apple, or once it gave a gray screen asking me to hold the power button. In another thread I saw the suggestion of running the permission fix in the disk utility which I just did, so we'll see if that helps... I'll report back.
2. The stranger problem is that I'm getting video corruption. I'm running a 30" ACD. I bought it new with the Mac Pro. After using the system for several hours all images will begin to be corrupted. It starts out as an odd halo, and then it's almost like the pixels just scatter loosely around where they should be... it's extremely difficult to explain and I cannot post a screenshot because it doesn't show up in screenshots. The fact that it doesn't show up in a screenshot leads me to believe it's not software... but would it more likely be the display, or the video card? I suppose it could be the driver...
Also, this corruption only seems to effect images... icons on the dock bar, my background, Safari tabs, etc etc. It does not effect text.
Thoughts?

If you merged your home user library, that can cause problems. I would tend to suspect even iPod but probably not a UPS (and I won't even think of running w/o).

• Cannot use Remote Desktop host on Windows 8.1 Pro, termsrv corrupted?

Hello,
Few days ago I upgraded my home desktop machine from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1 Professional so I can use the Remote Desktop feature.
I enabled everything needed, checked "Allow computers to connect to this computer" from the Remote Settings, forwarded the port 3389 in my rounter and allowed it in my firewall etc...
But I still can't connect to this computer from outside my home network or inside it. The error I get trying to connect is this:
(For some reason i still can't post images in this forum...) So I posted a link below to my original thread with the images
I'm trying to connect using a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium.
After searching around I found out that the service responsible for the RDP is called "TermService", I found it on my services but was unable to start it:
(For some reason i still can't post images in this forum...) So I posted a link below to my original thread with the images
Also, notice the description of the service. So I tried to run a System File Checker on the service's DLL (sfc /scanfile=c:\windows\system32\termsrv.dll) and got this log:

Since it's the first time I use this tool I'm not familiar with this log file, but what I managed to figure out from it is that termsrv.dll is corrupted and windows cannot repair it for some reason.
My question is:
How can I repair this file? Is this even the problem preventing me from connecting to this computer via Remote Desktop?
Here's a link to my original question which contatining the images.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-system/cannot-use-remote-desktop-host-on-windows-81-pro/e4776239-4d9e-4934-ae2d-b87cc09f7ade

managed to figure out from it is that termsrv.dll is corrupted and windows cannot repair it for some reason.
So, the next step supposedly is
using DISM.
Coincidentally I reached that page last night from
this one, which I thought gave me a better awareness of how much manual repair might be possible. E.g. maybe the WinSxS isn't quite as fragile as we are being led to believe? (It's making me feel sort of like how I used to feel about the
registry when seeing all the caveats about using RegEdit before I got used to that tool.)
Advanced guidelines for diagnosing and fixing servicing corruption
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee619779(v=WS.10).aspx
Something else that I became aware of yesterday serendipitously is SxStrace.exe. I have never seen it used but it sounds useful. E.g. perhaps easier to interpret for supplemental clues than the ProcMon trace that I usually advocate.
Or perhaps use both and see in ProcMon when the SxStrace is writing. E.g. filter with Operation Is WriteFile.
However, what I would do first is find out what the state of your system is regarding that module. E.g. try this Powershell pipeline to list what you have.
PS C:\windows> dir -R -Fil "termsrv.dll" | sort-object FullName | ft Length, FullName -AutoSize
Note that I am giving you the whole command line, including prompt to show where the command should be started from.
C.f. another thread where doing the same diagnostic procedure seems to be finding more a problem with the Windows Update software than with the user's WinSxS cache.

• WebI Report Corruption on BI 4.1 SP 1 Patch 7 : An internal error occured while calling 'openDocument' API WIS 30270

Hi All,
We are facing some weird WebI report corruption issues.
Issue is specific to only one report so far. We have seen this issue usually when we save the report to enterprise or do Save as.
Report gets corrupted at both the places; local and in repository.
The report have 5 Tabs, 3 queries from same database, Cross Tab, and approximately
15 Dimensions and around 500 Measures (From 3 Queries same universe and database)
Variables: 70 Measures and 10 Dimensions (created on report level)
Error Message while opening the report:
This error is generic. however there is no relevant SAP note for this on SMP. Even in trace I could not find much relevant details:
Please find the logs attached for WebI rich client tool.
Note: Change the extension of attached file to .zip and then extract
Thanks
Satish

Hi Jen,
Thank you for the response.
I am using WebI rich client in offline mode without connecting to CMS; still the working report crashes after making some changes while saving it. (we do refresh reports here)
Secondly, APS is already split and we have enough resources on the server, which anyways are not being used so far.
Even in logs do not see any instance for insufficient memory or crashing message.
Only connection server will come into picture when we use Rich Client all other task will be done be Rich client itself.
Thanks,
Satish

• Mac book is starting up funny. I have a flashing folder and question mark or just a grey screen. IT at university is backed up all week and said it's the hard drive! Ugh need help in class now will be calling ASAP! Help please.

I get either a grey screen or a flashing folder question mark. IT at my university said it wouldn't be till after the weekend and than still a few days to get it fixed so she told me to try to back it up myself because that's the only sure fire way to ensure I get all my Info. So any hints or help? They did a hardware test and they think it's my hard drive. I did a r+command restart
And it won't let me verify the disk.... Or download mountain lion.. Okay I know I sound clueless but can anyone help me?

Question (?) Mark, Blinking Folder, or Gray Screen at Startup
These are related but not identical issues. Their causes are outlined in Intel-based Mac- Startup sequence and error codes, symbols. Solutions may be found in:
A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac
Mac OS X- Gray screen appears during startup
In most cases the problems may be caused by:
Problem with the computer's PRAM - See Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.
Boot drive's directory has been corrupted - Repair with Disk Utility.
Critical system files are damaged or deleted - Reinstall OS X.
The disk drive is physically non-functional - Replace the hard drive.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The main difference if you are using Lion or Mountain Lion is that you must first boot from the Recovery HD:
Boot From The Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstall Snow Leopard Without Erasing The drive
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing The Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

• Windows 7 - corrupted data on external dvd usb device

I have problem with my external brand new usb dvd drive (liteon 124 sata + welland 340Q). Its connected to HP Pavilion DV9220US by usb port. The problem is that i can write discs without any problems but there is huge problem with reading data form cds (even from older one recorded before i installed windows 7) :/ . I see all files and folders on disc but all data is corrupted. I can't open any large file. Small files like txt open just ok. Some photos on my cds are broken. Video files are corrupted. On other computers with different OS there is no problem with reading any of that discs (writen on windows 7). I'm going crazy. Something is wrong with reading files from usb external drives. There must be something wrong with windows 7 :/ My notebook doesn't have any nvidia chipset so update KB976972 is not for me. I hope microsoft will fix that issue soon. I even bought express card 54mm usb controller but that doesn't help too.
I have tried many intel chipset drivers and uninstallation of all Universal Serial Bus Controllers in device manager but it doesn't help too.
I also checked on my friend notebook with windows 7 and there was the same problem :/. Later he installed windows vista and everything start to work perfect.

Hi akslow,
It is highly recommended contacting the device manufacturer first to confirm whether the DVD drives are fully compatible with Windows 7.
Also, please access Clean Boot to check the issue. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue. Besides, you can copy the files to the local hard drive to see if they can be read.
If the issue persists, could you please capture some screenshots of the error message when trying to read the files?
1. Please reproduce this issue, and then press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard.
2. Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter.
3. In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save".
4. The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot".
5. Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click "Desktop" on the left pane and then click "Save".
6. Please upload the screenshot to your SkyDrive at www.skydrive.live.com and let us know the link.

• Printer drivers constantly becoming corrupt

We have a large mixture of HP and Ricoh printers in our environment. They are all linked through a Server 2007 Enterprise edition print server. For the HP printers, some of them do use the specific print driver and other use a universal print driver, also a mix between PCL 5 and 6. Most of the problems are occurring on Windows 7 (we don't have many windows XP and they use a different print server)and we are just starting to see some of these problems on Windows 8 (just starting to deploy). Here are the problems we are having:
1. Randomly the HP printer will stop working. Everything appears to be correct on the server and the PC and it works fine from another PC, but it doesn't appear to be communicating to the printer at all. You click Print in any application and it never actually does anything. If you just delete and re-add the printer you get problem #2. To actually fix it, you have to remove the printer, go into Print Management and delete all HP drivers (on one of the Windows 8 device just removing the one associated with the printer didn't work but removing them all fixed the issue) and telling it to redownload the print driver from the server.
2. The HP printer will randomly or on first install start printing "strange characters" and will keep printing until the job is canceled. Again we found that removing the printer and completely removing the drivers from Print Management and reinstalling the print will fix this.
These keep reoccurring with the same users and occationally new ones and we are starting to get bombarded with calls on our helpdesk. Let me know if there is something I can check to try to prevent these drivers from becoming corrupt on the PCs.
Thank you!

Hello everyone.
I understand you having software conflicts on multiple computers. So I can assist you, I need to find out what printer you have. Please click on this website to find out this information: Model Number. (Only the printers that are experiencing issues please)
On each of the computers; do they all have different connections or the same connection? Please verify if it's wireless, USB or Ethernet connection?
Once I know the connection I can further assist you on your "unable to communicate with your printer" issue.
I have a HP document that will help you resolve your issue on Continuous Pages of Strange or Garbled Characters.
Look forward to hear from you.
I worked on behalf of HP.

• Boot Camp related hard drive corruption?

The other day, my OS X 10.5.1 partition completely crashed on me after several switched between it and the Boot Camp partition on my MBP (XP Pro SP2). I just happened to glance at my OS X partition using MacDrive and it told me that the partition was corrupt and unreadable. Confused, I tried to boot into OS X with no success, it just hung at the Apple screen. I had to completely erase the partition, reinstall Tiger, and upgrade again to Leopard. Has anyone else heard of this happening, or experienced it? Could it somehow be related to MacDrive? I had been moving stuff back and forth, and saving stuff to the OS X partition from the Windows partition. Is that part of the problem? I just don't want it to happen again! The Windows partition was unharmed, btw.

First off, thanks for your reply. Second, yes, MacDrive is compatible with my OS version, it's designed specifically for Boot Camp. I haven't been using Time Machine because it completely takes over the external and I need the drive that I have (besides my iPod) for classes at my university that use PCs, so that option's out. I had kinda slacked off recently about backing up files, but still almost everything was saved onto my iPod. Speaking of which, the reason I can't use my iPod for my class is because it involves recording audio using Pro Tools, and for some reason the iPod drive is too slow. Do iPods get fragmented, and should I periodically do a reformat of it? That would certainly free up my 320 GB external for Time Machine use.
As far as the DVD repair, how do you do that? I thought the only option was "erase and install" when going back to Tiger. Or do you mean bot from the Leopard DVD?
Sorry about the kind of rambling post, but I wanted to make sure to be specific.

• Charts get corrupted using CFReportBuilder 10 in Windows 8.1

Reports that we created that contain Charts, using Windows Vista to author, stop working and error "resource unreadable" when we open and save the report using Win 8.1 64bit. Everything else in the reports will work fine, but the charts become corrupted and unrecoverable. Is there a patch or newer version of CFReportBuilder to fix this? I tried the CFReportBuilder version available with CF11 and get the same results...
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Marshall.

Hi,
If you trying connect two Universal apps through Bluetooth, can you check if the
Windows 8.1 Bluetooth RFComm sample runs fine on both the devices? I successfully tested the Windows 8.1 Bluetooth RFComm sample on Laptop (Windows 8.1) and Windows Phone 8.1 (paired).
Make sure the service which you are trying to advertise/listen is supported by both the devices.

• Error: No universe found for this document in the CMC

Hi,
We have a universe which drives around 45 Web Intelligence reports in Business Objects XI R2.
Recently, when I made changes in the universe and tried to export it, the Designer interface hung and further it was found that the universe file got corrupted for some reason.
Now, the administrator deleted the universe from the CMC and exported a copy of the same universe that I had saved on my local machine before exporting. He was successful in doing so. However, when the associated Webi reports are accessed, an error message " Some objects are no longer available in the universe. Error 10001 Error INF" is displayed.
In the CMC, FOLDERS> Report Properties > Universe: shows - " No document found for this document"
I know we are missing out on something simple. Any pointers will be extremely helpful.
Many thanks!!

I beleve there was a unique identifier for the old universe. You could probably restore from an old cms database backup and filestore backup to get it back that way. The other (probably better option) would be to go into the webi documents themselves and specify the universe there. I believe XIR2 had this functionality although I don't recall for sure when it was introduced (may have been 3.x). There may be some other alternatives, these are the few that came to mind initially. Good luck!

• Single digit modification dates, date & time corruption

I have an iBook G4 running the latest version of Tiger, and I have a Date corruption that I can't resolve. When I click the Menu Bar to show the date, it only displays a single digit # (currently 3). When I open Date & Time in System Preferences, the calendar correctly shows the date, but the date is always listed in the box above as the 13th of the month. I can manually adjust the date in the calendar and it will stay, or have it set automatically, and it will work, but the date is always listed as the 13th of the month. Here's the confusing part: All dates in the Finder are listed as single digit #s. the modification and creation dates of everything in the finder are a number between 1 and 5. I've deleted date preference files in the user and universal libraries, and problem persists.
Anyone have any ideas?

Jeffrey,
Experiment with your settings in System Preferences...>International>Formats>Dates>>Customize... and Calendar>Gregorian.
