Universe incomplete on multiprovider

Hi Experts,
We need some help here !
I'm SAP BI, but I'm new in BO. I installed BOXI 3.1 with SAP Integration Kit. We already put all the authorizations as the documentation says, and started to make a universe on a top a BEx Queries and directly on top Infocube, the universe is generated automatically OK ! , in both cases. Then we export them and publish them OK.
But when we try to create a universe on a top a Multiprovider, it isn't complete. The universe has only some infobjects and key figures of multiprovider. I don´t know why?
Somebody can help me?
Thanks & regards,
Leonel

use this link to download a registry.
https://sapmats-us.sap-ag.de/download/download.cgi?id=676IZ2T47Y39PFEU7UKK0JG4GGXY4BY5FYBH3OBRNMMJR4FBTR
merge the registry to your client and restart the universe designer.
then create a brand new universe based on the multiprovider. you should get logfiles being created directly on c:\
post the logs here as files

  • MDX Query Failed to execute when universe created on MultiProvider Query

    Hi All,
I am running the WebI report created on the universe which is built on Query.
The data flow model in our system for this query is:
    Data Store Object> Infoset-> multiProvider--->Query.
When I drag only on Dimension object in the Webi Report without any Prompts the report works fine.
But when I add any other Dimension or any Prompt in the WebI Query it gives me following error:
A database error occured. The database error text is: The MDX query SELECT  { [Measures].[4EGM09GXGU939C3RJH2G9DOQY] }  ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY CROSSJOIN( [Z_WM_IS01___F1].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS, [Z_WM_IS01___F12].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ) DIMENSION PROPERTIES [Z_WM_IS01___F12].[2Z_WM_IS01___F12], [Z_WM_IS01___F1].[2Z_WM_IS01___F1] ON ROWS FROM [ZWM_M02/Z_ZWM_M02_Q001]  failed to execute with the error Unknown error. (WIS 10901)
But if i create the Universe on Query which is built on DSO then WebI is working fine.
Is there any restrictions on using Query on multiprovider?
Or do I have to make any configuration at BO server?
How do I configure logging for WebI and Designer to check the Log records?
Do I have to change anything related to any MDX Parser in BO Server?
    We are using folowing versions:
    SAP BI 7.0 and BOXIR3.1
Request to pls help me to solve this problem.

    Thanks Ravi for ur inputs.
The report is working fine now.
There was the problem with the Mandatory prompts defined in SAP BI  Query on which universe was developed.
U should have only those Prompts as mandatory in SAp BI Query which are Universe level prompt, if some mandatory prompts defined as Class level promts in universe then the MDX Query generated based on WEBI report will not Execute.

  • Built Universe based on Multiprovider

    Hello everybody.
I want to build a new Universe that based on an existing Multiprovider in our SAP BW.
When creating a new connection the Multiprovider is in the list and I can choose it for the connection. Even the test is positiv.
But when I use it for building a new Universe there comes an error.
I get it in germen so I try to translate it as good as possible:
    Connection error
Error during query hierachies for dimension 0INFOPROV (Cube $ZCM-VP02)
(Fehler beim Abfragen der Hierarchien für Dimension 0INFOPROV (Cube $ZCM_VP02): See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more details)
Could someone give me a hint please?
    Thanks in advance.

Getting this error in our QA environment but not Dev environment, checking to see if anybody has figured out what this error is.

  • Difference in Webi Report from BPC Multiprovider and BW Multiprovider

    Hello Gurus,
I'm new in Webi but I have knowledg in SAP BI 7.0.
    The problem is as follows:
BPC generates in BW some structures for its applications like Infocubes and Multiproviders.
I create an Universe from BPC Multiprovider. When I creted the Webi Document, I can not see the hierarchies or parenths associated to the dimension in the bpc application (Multiprovider y BW). To solve this I create a BEx Query to associate the hierarchy in the characteristc an create an universe from the BEx Query. The problem of this is that I have to create a BEx Query and universe for every single parenth in the bpc dimension.
Other test that I did was create a Z multiprovider from the BPC Infocube an build an Universe from it. When I create the Webi Documento now appears all hierarchy.
Is something like a difference between the multiprovider that generates BPC and the multiprovider created natively in BW.
Are there some corrections to fix the multiprovideres generated by BPC?

  • ODS Vs Universe

    HI All,
    We have three DSOs :
DSO 1 - Delta ( Order Line Item)
DSO 2 - Full load (Deliv  line item)
    DSO3 - Delta ( Billing line item)
My requirement is : I want to combine all these and run combinational reports..using BO UNIVERSE..
I can create three bex queries using DSOs for reporting at BI level.
    Questions:
    1.
is it possible to create a UNIVERSE on a BEx qry? If yes, please expain how...
    2.
is it possible to create a UNIVERSE on a DSO? If yes, please expain how...
    3.
Shall I create three universe in Business Objects using on these three DSOs? If yes, please expain how...
    DSO1---Universe1
    DSO2---Universe2
    DSO3---Universe3
    4.
Shall I join all these three UNIVERSES and we need to try combing the universe and query over it?If yes, please expain how...
    Universe1 + Universe2 +Universe3  =  Universe4 =  generate combinational reports..
Please let me know step wise..
    Thanks in advance..
    SRK

    1. is it possible to create a UNIVERSE on a BEx qry? If yes, please expain how...
SAP Business Objects Universes can use a BEx Query Designer query, InfoCube or MultiProvider as a source. These are the only two possibilities at this time, until SAP Business Objects comes out with USL (Universal Semantic Layer). Here's a good step-by-step for creating a Universe sourced by a BEx query:
    2. is it possible to create a UNIVERSE on a DSO? If yes, please expain how...
Sourcing a Universe from a DSO isn't possible at this time. As stated before, only a BEx query, InfoCube or MultiProvider can source a Universe until the reslease of USL.
    3. Shall I create three universe in Business Objects using on these three DSOs? If yes, please expain how...
    DSO1---Universe1
    DSO2---Universe2
    DSO3---Universe3
If these DSOs are distinct sets of data, you will have to either create a BEx query on each DSO and ensure that all of the Characteristics and Key Figures are made available in the query rows and columns, or you could create a MultiProvider with one DSO in each. If the data can be unioned, then a MultiProvider would be your best solution.
    4. Shall I join all these three UNIVERSES and we need to try combing the universe and query over it?If yes, please expain how...
    Universe1 + Universe2 +Universe3 = Universe4 = generate combinational reports..
When you create your Web Intelligence reports (assuming that's your UI for reporting since you're using Universes), you can create separate queries in the Web Intelligence report, each based on the separate Universes, and then join the data together in the reporting portion. Otherwise, you might be better off creating a MultiProvider in BW with the DSOs and then sourcing a single Universe with the MultiProvider (this would be much simpler and easier to maintain - multi-Universe reports are very inefficient and difficult to maintain at times).

  • A strategical problem

    Hi,
I want to ask a strategical problem. As educated in college, there is a purpose and there is a tool. In BI, there are two sides that are BW and BO in my opinion. And so, I want to ask which one should be a tool and which one should be a purpose. I mean that, BW is for BO? or BO is for BW? Think a simple example, we want to create a report in BO. BW should be made easier the work of BO? Or BW should be rule based logic and respect to data warehousing concepts, BO should do his own work hisself although work needs much more effort if done in BO?
Is there any strategical article or any other guide that explain how should be BW and how should be BO?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
in BI we are using BEx suite for different reporting requirements but in BO's we have so many components which solves various reporting requirements in terms of more visualization.
Crystal report designer in BO similar to Report designer in BI
    Xcelsius similar to WAD,
    Bex analyzer similar to Voyager
by using Universe designer we create a universe (similar to Multiprovider) in BO and we can use this universe to create reports. a BI connection is needed to create universe in BO (nothing but source system connection in BI.
Now companys  are using SAP BI is back end and BO as front end.
Please find the link it will help you.

  • Unwanted LOVs - Universe on a BEx query on top of a Multiprovider

    BO XI 3.1
    BW 7.01
OLAP Universe on a BEx query
BEx query on top of a Multiprovider
Multiprovider on 2 DSOs; lets say DSO1 and DSO2
BEx query has a global filter for "INFOPROVIDER = DSO1"
BEx query has a user input variable defined for "Field1" (Field1 is present in both DSOs)
In BEx, F4 on Field1 variable entry gives the values of Field1 from DSO1. (which is what we want)
Expected LOVs for the generated prompt for Field1 in the WEBI report: Values of Field1 from DSO1
    Problem:
Actual LOVs returned in WEBI report: Values of Field1 from both DSO1 and DSO2
    Has anyone faced this before?
    Thank you

    Henry Banks wrote:
    > I have a suspicion the BEX property 'only values in infoprovider' isn't picked up/consumed by the BAPIs used by the MDX interface.
That is correct. The BEx properties do not carry over to the BO side. In Webi 3.1 here are the default selections for LOVs (as far as I know)
OLAP universe against BEx query on an infoprovider (Infocube, DSO, Multiprovider) - Only values in Infoprovider
OLAP universe against BEx query on an Infoset - Values in the master data table
    My understanding now is
OLAP universe against BEx query on a Multiprovider - Only values in ALL Infoproviders under the Multiprovider
    Henry Banks wrote:
    > Yes, this is confirmed by Note 1224318 - MDX: InfoProvider restriction for the member rowset
    > It's a BW limitation of the OLE DB for OLAP.
I have seen this note before and according to it you can set an RSADMIN parameter MDX_JOIN_CUBE_DIME and have more control over the LOVs.
MDX_JOIN_CUBE_DIME = "A" -> The read mode for all LOVs is Only values in master data
MDX_JOIN_CUBE_DIME = "I" -> The read mode for LOVs is either master data or infoprovider depending on the infoobject settings
    Henry Banks wrote:
    > It might be easier to have to 2 data providers for this document, if you don't already, for plan and actual;  or 2 seperate bex queries.
Well, that would work but it would defeat the purpose of having a Multiprovider for logical partitioning, wouldn't it?

  • Universes to query from multiprovider

    Hi,
I am trying to create an universe from a query that was created from a multiprovider. But I can't see the query under the folder of the multiprovider.
The query is marked with "allow external access to this query".
I can see the queries from infocubes.
    what may be happening
    thanks

    Hi,
You might check the query properties in the query monitor in SAP BW (transaction: rstt).
Select you query and click on the properties tab.
Check if the 'Req. Status' is equal to '7'. If so then the query won't show in the list for the universe connection.
I had the same problem and changed the 'Req. Status' to 0. The query then showed up to be used as a universe connection.

  • "Count" MDX function in Universe based on SAP BW 7.1 Multiprovider

    Hi,
I am creating a mesure in Universe using "Count".  If I use measure directly, I get "Multivalue" error. Do you know why.
Help text reads folowing: COUNT ( " Set "    ,  EXCLUDEEMPTY     ) count number of cells in a set, optionally including or excluding empty cells.
The following is the syntax in my universe : COUNT(.[0ACTION_Count]).
OLAP Guides by Didier MAZOUÉ has the following syntax is Count(.Members)  or Count(.[LEVEL01].Members). This is for Dimension, but my object is already a measure (One of the Key figure and * data is at lowest level for an employee and my purpose is to show summary for a period/month or Country or city Using Count*) how should I change the syntax. What is the "Set" . Could you help me with Syntax. This is my first Universe.

  • BO 4.0 - Database error: Unable to connect to SAP BW Incomplete logon data

    Hello Experts,

I have created a universe connection with option 'use single sign on when refreshing reports at view time' and have created a universe on top of my BEx query by log-in to the universe designer tools using my LDAP account.
Now when I run the report with either SAP account or LDAP - I am able to run a adhoc webi report on this universe and get data either through the webi rich client or via BO 4.0 Info-view/Launch Pad.
But the issue is that when other users are trying to run webi queries on this universe either through Info-view/launch pad or rich client by log-in via LDAP Authentication - they get the below error: I have given SAP_ALL to this user for time being and also have done the necessary configuration for 'simple user format' in CMC so these user has 1 account with 3 alias definitions: Enterprise, SAP, R/3.
Database error: Unable to connect to SAP BW server Incomplete logon data -

I also get a dump in the SAP BW system - I analyzed the dump in SAP BW using st22 tcode and it gives the error short text as - Incomplete logon data and run-time error -  CALL_FUNCTION_SIGNON_INCOMPL
    Desired outcome:

    Hi Simone,
    Thank you for the reply.
Here are the things done by me.
    1. Generated the keystore file and imported it in BI 4.0 CMC on  SAP Authentication Option tab
        ([http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/GeneratekeystoreandcertificateforSAPBO+BI4.0])
    2. Generate the certificate file cert.der and this cert is imported in SAP BW with STRUSTSSO2 transaction.
    3. BW Roles/Users have been imported into CMC.
    4. SAP Users and LDAP users are mapped/aliased with each other using the registry key method
        ([http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/HowtomapSAPusersandLDAPusersinSBOBI4.0+CMC])
I haven't explicitly configured STS (Security token service) as STS is a part of Adaptive processing server (APS) and I have verified that by going to servers in CMC and then to analysis services.
I have searched for SAP OSS notes related to my issue but couldn't find any note related to SAP BW SSO with Business objects 4.0. Most of the notes are relevant for BO XI 3.1 environments.
    Thanks & regards,

    Whether your problem is solved?
We have the same problem in BO Mobile.
Two users from one BW-role, BO-groups; one user report is executed, another user - error incomplete logon data. In Web Intelligence both users reports succeeds.

  • Unable to see query when creating universe using new connection wizard

    Hi
I created a query and released for OLEDB for OLAP. when i tried to create a universe after giving all the parameters like username, pwd, server, system no, id..... and check into OLAP cubes i can see the query which i developed on the multiprovider?. Can anyone help me out?
    -Thanks

    Hi,
If you are not able to see the query, open that query in the query designer. Go to query properties-> Advanced tab and check the option "Allow external access to this query". That should solve your problem.

  • How to create @prompt filter at universe level for my Webi reports

    Dear all,
I am using BO XI 3.1 SP3 with SAP BW 7.0.
I have created an open[big] query based on a multiprovider for my OLAP universe.
OBJECTIVE: to create LOV prompts for Calender year, for my webi reports, which takes 2010 as input then offsets the input year and then shows Gross sales for the prompt year [2010], 2009 & 2008.
ISSUE: if 2010 is selected in webi prompt filter, then it doesn't display any data for any other year, lets say gross sales for 2009.
ALTERNATIVE: i tried to create a prompt filter in the universe with this syntax,
    <FILTER KEY="@Select(Calendar year\Calendar year).[TECH_NAME]"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="InList"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Enter year','N',,Mono,Free,Not_Persistent)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
it worked fine. but i also want to create a measure or dimension which subtracts 1 from the above filter and return a result with a previous year.
    e.g
    PROMPT: 2010
    PROMPT-1: 2009
    Universe structure
    [TIME]                         class
      [Calender year]        class
         [Calender year]     dimension  ( type:string)
Please guide me with correct procedure and syntax.

    masood44 ,
I think you should just prompt for year and capture and use the selection at the webi report  level.
say you have calendar year(convert it into numeric) prompt at webi level. say user selects 2010 capture it in a variable var1:userresponse('enter year'). then create a variABLE (var2)  with formula :
    if(isPromptAnswered('enter year')='yes';([year] where year inlist(var1;var1-1;var1-2);null)
build your report with var2 and gross income
    Thanks,

  • Unable to use SSO with universe connection on top of SAP BW query

    Hi,
We're creating a universe on top of a SAP BW query by using universe designer.
We logon to universe designer by using SAP credential.
When creating the connection, we set the option "Use Single Sign On when refreshing reports at view time" in order to logon to BW server. But when clicking next, an error arises:
"DBD: Unable to connect to SAP BW server Incomplete logon data"
The strange thing on this is that there is one laptop which is able to set up this kind of connection, while all other workstations are not able to set it because they recieve that error (we all work against the same BO server). So this looks like an installation issue.
We reinstalled SAP Integration Solutions on those workstations, but problem is still the same.
I found thread: Universe Connection Authentication on SAP BW which talks about the same issue, but solution involves uninstalling Xcelsius. But we do need Xcelsius!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    David.
