Universe issue..  ??

Hello All,
There  is a requirement to add 3 Hierarchy variable prompts in Webi report.
For this :
1.  I added Hierarchy variables in Bex query
2. As there are several reports already created on the existing universe, I  generated a new universe to copy the hierarchy LOVs and Filters. Adjusted the folder names and MDX in the filters to refer the folder name containing LOVs.
3. Now I tried to created a   test webi report in-order to see the prompts. I am able to see the prompts but not the hierarchy nodes in one prompt.
4. It says NO VALUES.
But when i tried to create a test webi report on the new universe, prompts work perfectly.Able to see all the nodes and values in the prompt.
Is there any way out to fix this problem? Please don't suggest to go ahead with the new universe, as there are lot of webi reports dependent on the old universe. I wish to know why I am not able to see the values in one particular prompt.
Kindly Advise
James

Hi Kelly,
To repoint the existing report please follow following steps:-
-Open that report in modify mode
-Click on Edit Query on the top left.
-Click on properties tab
-Click on [...] botton under universe
- Select the universe from the list and click OK.

  • Adding derived table  to-Universe issue!

    Hi,
I am trying to add a derived table to my Universe by writing a SQL query, after some length of the query its not enabling me to write more.Could soemebody suggest is there any limit I can write upto or is there anyway I can increase the capacity of the length of the query. Thanks in Advance.

How big is your query. I think there is a limit based on the edit box of about 32k but that is all
It is possible to create derived tables based on other derived table using the @DerivedTable function. You might be able to break your query into smaller parts and build it that way

  • Stored Procedure Universe Issues

Working in version 3.1 SP1 Fix pack 1.8 and created some simple stored procedures to use in the universe and everything worked fine but then due to changing requirements added additional logic to the stored procedures (SQL 2005 database) for the report to include additional prompts and mulitple selects within the code.  With these changes, have encountered multiple errors when trying to insert them in the universe or when we are able to insert them in to the universe then no data ever returns from the new stored procedures even though correct execute statements are being created on the SQL Server and they work on SQL Server and in other BI tools.  Has anyone else encountered this or know of any limitations using stored procedures in universes?

  • Exporting Universes Issue

    Hi,
We upgraded all the BusinessObjects XI 3.1 to the last Package. I have created Universes and also Webi Reports. Yesterday i had to make some modifications into the universe (Is all created using derived tables and SQL) and suddenly the exportation says that was successful but when i checked the Webi Report the linked universe is empty and the report cant be shown.
I figured a way in order to modify the report in order to bring it back to work, creating copies of it. But i would like to know is there is a way to put the Universe Designer back to work again like it was.
    Thanks in advance.

what BO SP are you using? SP1, SP2, SP3, SP4? What WebI version are you using WebIntelligence from InfoView or WebI Rich Client?

  • Monitor Out Issue and 2K proxy from RED Issue

I'm having two monitor issues since I updated to FCS3 (Color 1.5)
The first is with most footage.
Most any footage that I bring into Color 1.5 using the "Sent to" feature from FCP7 (720p, 1080p, etc) will not be displayed in my external monitor (JVC DTV). This was not a problem in previous version of Color or FCP. When I adjust "Video Output" in my Color Preference from SD to HD 720p, 1080p etc... My monitor recognizes that new input. It tells me that it is no receiving a signal in a different frame size (rate). I have tried every combination of monitor setting under the sun in the Color Preferences Room and nothing will change that. (This is not a universal issue). I DO NOT HAVE ANY OF THESE ISSUES IN FCP7. There are only two ways I can see this footage, the first is in my Projects Settings bin in my Preferences Room. If I change my Resolution Presets to any of the 4k options, I see a tiny picture in my external monitor. The other way I can see an image in my external monitor is to go into my Secondaries Room, enable a secondary, goto the preview window and select the Color Matte tab (the middle of the 3 tabs on the upper right of the picture).
The second issue I'm having is with RED proxy files. When I bring into Color 1.5 2k proxy files from the RED everything works and plays fine (in all monitors) except there is a black artifact (bar) along the bottom right. Again this is not the case when I'm looking at these same files in FCP7.
Any help fixing these problems would be greatly appreciated ASAP. I'm scheduled to be grading a $600,000 dollar film in the coming weeks.

  • Mini 1st Gen has Severe Issues After Update

Following the recent update, my Mini 1st Gen began showing various small issues. Last night, it randomly quit, and went to the lock screen, but the screen image was magnified hugely, 10x, and I was unable to maneuver into the password area. I attempted numerous hard resets, just getting the same unresponsive huge lock screen, and I was unable to completely shut the Mini off and restart. Eventually,  it reverted back to normal spontaneously. Again tonight, it randomly went to the huge lock screen, same story, it seems as if it won't magically revert at this point though, rendering it unusable, at a time that I really need to use it. I'm beyond frustrated between the issues it was exhibiting: very slow loading, spotty internet connectivity, switching pages or areas without prompt, poor touchscreen response, randomly making words in messages all caps, or spacing them oddly, highlighting rather than performing the action when pressing webpage keys like 'Enter'....that's the start. I was frustrated then, but to have a completely unresponsive device now is infuriating me, as I see this is a universal issue.
I'm not sure what to do now, short of a complete reset from a laptop, which, despite saving to the cloud faithfully, will make me even more upset. We have faithfully owned and used Apple products...I still have the 1st Touch, and 1st IPad, plus numerous phones and other ipads along the way. So, not only are our devices rendered all but obsolete at an almost yearly basis, making their lifespan as the best, fully functional unit, with all available utilities at service, 1-3 years at BEST, forcing either an upgrade or resignation to the fact that your 8 month old device is no longer the newest available...so we have to deal with that. Then, there's the forced limited memory issue, which makes saving things to anything other than 'clouds' or expanding space not an option. Ok. Now, we have to deal with these incessant space gobbling IOS updates and mini updates to fix the last update which was supposed to fix glitches from the last update, yet manage to make our devices perform even worse, if, now, they bother working at all. To fix this issue, completely unrelated to consumer use-one must completely scrub their device and re-install months or years of info (if you are good and backed-ed it up!). This boggles my mind. Once or twice after initial IOS tests? Ok, I get that. But at this point, installing updates is like inviting a Pandora's Box to be opened, with no clue of the effect it will have, good or bad..,although it's getting worse and worse. All this with nary a comment, even a sympathetic nod from Apple. Certainly no reimbursement for the countless losses of time, money, apps, information, work or school...life interruptions. Just a new version every year and an open hand for payment. It's truly disheartening for loyal customers & consumers as a whole.

Double-tap the screen with three fingers to turn off Zoom. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and turn this Off.
Also make sure that none of the items in Settings > General > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut are checked.

  • Are all New  iPad facing the same overheat issue? My new iPad also feels warm at the back.

Are all New iPad facing the same overheat issue?
My new iPad (wifi 64G) also feels warm at the back.

It varies. The difference between 'warm' and 'hot'. As in warmer but I can touch it vs too hot to comfortably handle.
ANd it doesn't seem to be all new iPads. There does seem to be increased heat because of the different battery and the retina display as explained above. There also seems to be some of them - maybe a few from a singular batch/factory that seem to put out what has been termed excessive heat. I would think if it were a universal issue then there'd be something more aggressive being done.
You can always take it into your local apple store and have them look at it and document that you have a concern, but they may say it's just normal heat associated with the prettier display and new battery configuration.

  • Same issues under 10.5.2 perhaps more.

Still having the same issues under 10.5.2. Graphical artifacts (desktop/dock/frontrow) and the odd disk permission repairs reports. I did a clean (erase and install) of leopard and updated to 10.5.2 with the combo update. Is this a ATI driver issue? Never had any of this under Tiger. Is there anything in addition I should do to try and correct these things? or just wait for further updates from apple/
    Thanks.

Video out under 10.5.2 works fine for me and for a colleague of mine with a more recent MacBook Pro. I'd wager it's a problem with your Leopard install, not a universal one.
Also, FYI, Apple doesn't read these forums; they're just for user-to-user help. If you want to leave MacBook Pro feedback for Apple, do so here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html
But again, I do not believe yours is a universal issue. We'll be happy to help troubleshoot though. What do you mean the image is "unstable"? Could you take a digital photograph of the external monitor's screen and upload it somewhere?

  • Update 27.0 causes downloads to go to the wrong location

I want downloads to go to my RAMdisk (not surprisingly, R:\), but since the update to v27, all downloads go to C:\Users\Me\Downloads. My Options are set correctly, I've double-checked my Profile location (I:\Firefox\Profiles), and all Bookmarks and Extensions are perfectly fine - it's just the download location that is messed up.
Is this a universal issue with v27 (unlikely) or has a fix been found (hopefully)?

"regression" is right. I can see not wanting to download to the root of a system disk, but a logical drive... Unfortunate.
But your solution is 100% accurate, and I thank you both for your time and speedy replies!
** Read the bug report, and this says it all:
The bug is present on Firefox 27 final.
Firefox 27 cannot save files to any root directory by default, except for Windows drive root directory.
'''Firefox 26 and earlier could. Lots of people will find out the hard way about this bug starting today.''' I hope it gets fixed and 27.0.1 gets released as soon as possible with this bug fixed in it.

  • MacBook video out not working

    Hi there
I bought the mini-dvi to s-video/composite output to connect my MacBook up to a TV while away from home (to watch TV and movies) but it doesn't work. First I suspected the old TV, but works OK with the Wii connected. Then I thought it was the cable, but I tried a new cable and the sound works fine, so that's not it. Then I suspected the adapter, but when I got home I connected it to my wife's MacBook and it worked fine.
So, looks like I have dodgy graphics card hardware?
The MacBook detects that the adapter is connected, so some of the pins are working OK. I just can't get a signal from my MacBook to the TV and the auto detect does not work.
Anyone got any ideas? The computer is no longer under warranty and I don't have time to take it to the dealer (it takes them three weeks to turn around a fault!) so I'm guessing that I'll have to open up the device myself and check for some bad connections?
    Any advice is appreciated!
    Regards... Jonny.

  • MacBook Pro late 2011; stuck on bootscreen.

My MacBook Pro is stuck on the boot screen. I've tried starting in safe mode, resetting PRAM during start up, resetting SMC, pressing option during boot to get to the recovery disk... Everything just leads me back to staring at e gray screen with the apple logo and spinning spiral.
During the safe mode boot, it takes around 10 minutes before the progress bar shows up at the bottom of the screen...but then in less than a minute before the progress bar completes...it just disappears completely from the screen and I'm left staring at the screen with the spinning circle and apple logo only again.
At this point, I don't care about my files on my macbook... I just want to be able to start up my laptop again. I'm starting college this weekend so this is really bad timing.
Also, prior to this incident...my macbook has been lagging a lot for the past month or so. I've never installed any excess programs or downloaded any movies, etc. I still have a lot of room on my HD. At one point my desktop was really messy and filled with icons, but I had since cleaned it up...fixed permissions, cleaned caches, done all of that. But it had still continued to show the rainbow spiral ball every so often and lagged immensely. I had also updated all available software updates. Finally today the rainbow spiral became so stuck that I had forced shut down the laptop by pressing the power button and when I tried to restart again... This boot problem has persisted,
    PLEASE HELP!!!

My 2011 MacBook Pro is dead after just about 2 years. Malfunctions like screen blurring, freeze and distortion happened, can't even boot and enter the system now. This universal issue is caused by the GPU of MacBook Pro Early 2011! Apple should start an quality investigation and do a recall on all these flawed models! I've shared my experience here: mbp2011 dot com

  • Wi Fi No Longer an Option in Settings

I have a Wi Fi only iPad and just updated software in iTunes (version 3.2.2(7B500). Following this update, Wi Fi is no longer available as an option in settings ((grayed out). I have restored and reset my iPad multiple times. I am seeing a lot of chatter online that this may be a universal issue related to the software release. Anybody else experiencing this?
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...

Can you point to where you see this "chatter" regarding a universal issue related to the software update?
If you have Bluetooth activated, try turning that off. Settings / General / Bluetooth
Restart your iPad and try wi fi.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 freezes almost daily

My HP officejet pro 8610 e-all-in-one printer freezes almost every day. Blue light is on near screen, and power button light is lit, but neither the power button nor touching the screen gets a response. If I unplug the printer, it reboots and works normally for a while. I updated to the current driver after installation (May 2014) and it still happens.
    Product # A7F64A
    Firmware FDP1CN1416AR (patch version 0)
I am using a windows 7 to print to it wirelessly. I am connected to a wireless router.

Has anyone ever gotten an answer to this issue?
I own 2 8610s and both of them have this exact issue.
    CharlesCity wrote:
It doesn't appear that HP has any intention of solving this issue. This may not be a universal issue to all 8610 owners, but it is obvious that several of us are having the same problem, consistently, and the only official answer I keep seeing is "Make sure it is plugged directly into an outlet".
I have an 8610, upgraded to current version, plugged into a fully functional outlet, and it is also continuing to lock up, as it has on every version of the firmware so far.
The only additional information I can offer is that I have tried going through and turning off different features and settings, in the hopes of finding a specific item that may be responsible. If I try to change any setting having to do with IPv6, or turn off that protocol, the printer locks up immediately, without showing any changes after power cycling. This happens through the printer settings and through the embedded web server (EWS). I don't know that the IPv6 protocol has anything to do with the freezing issue, but it does seem like a good possibility.
Hopefully one of the smarter users out there can find a solution for us, because we need a printer that works.

  • The video out is NOT WORKING under 10.5.2

    *APPLE please read this;*
The video out on the MacBook Pro is NOT WORKING under 10.5.2, or precisely is working with a possibility of 10%! Monitors doesn't find signal in, or when they find it, the image is unstable with green shadows.
_I tried 28 external monitor in a store and only ONE was working normally!_ I tried with all the cables combinations (DVI->DVI or DVI->ANALOG, with several different brand cables).
Before the 10.5 update, I didn't have any problem with external Monitor.
The point is that I have installed in the same computer (MAC BOOK PRO) also WINDOWS VISTA, and all the monitors that are not working with MAC OS are working perfectly under VISTA system.
I made a long research online and I found out that thousands of users have the same problem, but no one receive an answer from APPLE from several months!
This is not the only problem that I have under MAC OS 10.5, but them, are other topics.
_Please at least resolve this MAJOR problem that I and thousands of other users have with video out._

  • Time Machine deleted my old backups and crapped out midstream

I had just gotten my failing hard drive replaced, and restored from Time Machine backup. So far so good.
So a week later, I wanted to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but figured I should be responsible and run Time Machine backup again before doing the upgrade just in case something goes wrong.
The Mac has a 4TB drive, which has 2TB free. The backup drive is a 4TB external drive, which has (or had) Time Machine backups going back two years or so. It still had over a TB of space left. I clicked on Backup Now and let it run overnight. I noticed it said "Deleting old backup to make room" or something like that, which I thought was normal.
I woke up in the morning to find that Time Machine had crapped out in the middle, and said that it couldn't complete. I realized that it had deleted all my old backups. It didn't need to do that, since the only files that had changed would have been less than a GB, and it had over a TB of space to work with.
It must have thought that everything on the drive had changed since the last backup, and it wanted to backup the entire drive. As such it tried deleting all my old backups! But it failed, and stopped in the middle.
Now I have a drive that still says there is only 1.2 TB of space on the drive, but I can't see the files! Even with Tinkertool, I can't see anything beyond the one most recent backup.
Can these files be recovered? I am totally ticked that there isn't some kind of confirmation like "Are you sure you want to delete X?"
I actually need to have some of these older backups, as they include files that had been deleted before the latest backup that I may need to retrieve. Any hard drive experts out there? Any terminal commands that can make these files accessible, even if I have to retrieve them manually?

To clarify, this all happened under Snow Leopard as I had said. My profile lists Tiger, since I haven't cared to update my personal profile since using that OS, and in fact I still use Tiger among other versions. I manage a lot of users. And I never got to upgrade to Mountain Lion on this system, as explained in the post above. So I don't see the confusion.
I don't think the model of Mac makes a difference for this type of problem, but in case it does, the incident was on a 2010 Intel iMac with a 4TB hard drive and 8GB of RAM. I would have mentioned that if this was a problem with hardware specific to the model of Mac. But this is more of a universal issue.
But to stay on topic, I'm guessing my old backups are toast. But if anybody has any experience with recovering from Time Machine deleting their old backups, I would be happy to hear from them. In the meantime, I am going to try to do some old fashioned file recovery, and see what I can salvage.
