Universe objects usage statistics

Hi,
Is it possible to get any details on usage of  individual  objects within an universe?
Ideally i would like to know each field is used in how many reports, refreshed "n" times in a day etc.
I am aware that there could be third party tools to do this, but anyway to get this information from the Business Objects Enterprise
Thanks

not all the information but you will have alot
there is some information for a report level, and some else for object level
good luck

  • Report Object Usage

    Hello,
I am attempting to write a report that shows the object usage per each universe, using the Activity universe. I so far have a simple report showing the object used, per each universe and by date. What I would like to add is all the available objects across all universes, so that I can note which objects are not being used in addition to the objects being used. I realize there are probably several ways to accomplish this- any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michelle

    Dear Michelle,
You can use the below URL to access QUERY BUILDER:
    http://<Your Server>:<Your Port>/AdminTools/
You can login using your BO Administrator credentials.
There are three tables that you can query on from here -
CI_INFOOBJECTS - Contains InfoObjects that are viewed by the end user. Including: report documents, programs, shortcuts, folders, categories, inboxes.
CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS - Contains InfoObjects that are not documents but are used by documents. For example: universes, connections, and overloads.
CI_APPOBJECTS - Contains InfoObjects that the BI Platform uses in order to function. For example: users, groups, and license keys.
But I must say that Universe Level Object details cannot be found in these metadata tables.
However, there is an alternative that you can try out.
There is a tool / macro based excel developed by a person named Andre.  You can run the macro against the universe that you are interested in, to gather metadata about your universe.  This will give you Object Level information as well.
You can find more details on this here --> http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?t=141886
You can probably use this data and create reports using this EXCEL data and ACTIVITY universe data, to satisfy your requirements.
Let me know if you need more details.

  • Two universe objects on the same graph axis

I am trying to create a bar-stacked graph in the Web Intelligence document. I add \[Period\] universe object to X axis, \[Total\] object to Y axis. Then I want to add two objects to Z axis:
\[Sector\] (has values: Europe, Asia, America) and \[Status\] (has values: Active, Validating)
The problem that it makes a cartezian product between all value, so the output is:
    Europe/Active
    Europe/Validating
    Asia/Active
    Asia/Validating
    America/Active
    America/Validating
    But, what I want is:
    Europe
    Asia
    America
    Active
    Validaing
Is there any way to do this? Maybe with the help of some universe parameters, or REBean SDK...

  • How to identify reports that are using a specific universe object?

Any idea how to use BO Auditor or Metadata Manager to identify webi reports that are using a specific universe object or universe prompt in the report SQL?

    Hi Samuel,
In case you are using BOXIR2 you can do this by editing the crystalenterprise.webi.xml file.
Replace the CrystalEnterprise.Webi.xml file (Take a backup) with the edited one.
Path where you can find this file- Tomcat/webapps/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/WEB-INF/classes/META-INF/CrystalEnterprise.Webapps/ePortfolio/plugins
Paste the Custom Documentation folder in Tomcat\webapps\businessobjects\enterprise115\desktoplaunch\
May I know your email Id so that I can send you the edited crystalenterprise.webi.xml file.

There seems to be a new bug in IOS 4.2.1
Usage statistics for usage and standby are lost when you power on the iPhone.

I have had several occasions were the stats have gone blank since 4.2.1.

  • Universe object that returns the number of rows in table?

Is it possible to create a Universe object to support the following SQL query:
SELECT * FROM (SELECT ROWNUM rownum1 FROM TABLE) WHERE rownum1 = (SELECT (MAX(ROWNUM)) FROM TABLE)

    Amr,
Hey dude, welcome back, long time no hear from you.
You were on the right track with "number of rows", but here is the correct syntax:
    =NumberOfRows([Query 1])
    Thanks,

  • What is "Default" in Usage Statistics report detail?

I am running RoboHelp Server 8 and am outputing the "Usage Statistics" report which has an option to report on Browsers and Operating Systems. In the results for both is a category called "Default" (see images below). Does anyone know what this means? If you can answer that, maybe you can also tell me what the "Unknown" operating system is? I suspect this maybe an Apple Mac user as I know one of our users has tried accessing the help through the application installed on a Mac.

Further to my previous post, I can confirm that the "Unknown" operating system is definitely NOT an Apple Macintosh user. Having run the report on another area, a seperate "Macintosh" category is displayed thus leaving me in the dark again. If anyone can shed some light on this and the "Default" category I'd be very grateful.

  • Extracting object usage from SELECT

I thought I had a great idea by using "explain plan" to extract the different objects (tables, views, synonyms, stored procedures etc.) that a given SELECT statement is using. However, after some fidling around I've realized that "explain plan" doesn't deal with stored procedures at all.
Is there a way I can call a parser or something on the RDBMS side to get a list of involved objects? I don't need it nested - ie. I don't need to know that a stored procedure I'm calling calls another stored procedure etc; but I do need to know what tables, views, procedures are used in the SQL.
Is there a parser available that will allow me to extract this "metadata" ? I need to pass in a "dynamic" SQL - meaning not an existing Oracle object.
Does anyone have an idea on solving this?

If the statement is an object in the DB, then you're right on target. But it's not. It's SELECTs from client programs, like Java etc. I'm trying to document. I have the SQLs extracted, but I would like to document the object usage/dependences on external modules.
I may have to convert the statement into a stored procedure, check the dependencies and then drop the temporary object again. I was trying to avoid DDL though.

  • Identify reports using a specific universe object

    Hi,
How do I find out all webi reports using a particular universe object or universe prompt in the report SQL?
    Thanks.

    Samuel,
You might have some success working with an Excel spreadsheet which has been programmed with macros and was developed to access the CMS database and produce a universe to reporting pairing product.  The source for this spreadsheet/macro is on the BOB board, available here:

  • BW report usage statistics

Hello, we have BW web reports integrated in WEBAS
Is there a way to obtain some kind of usage statistics?
We need to know the top 10 used reports.
    Best regards

    Hello,
have a look in the technical content (Transaction: RSA1->Infoprovider>technical content->BW Statistics) there is a complete BW Datamodel which read data from rsddstat with ready-to-go queries.
Please ask if you need more advice.

  • Precalculated Web Template Usage Statistics

Does anyone know if there are usage statistics stored for a web template that has been precalculated (HTML) through reporting agent? It is accessed through a URL with the DATA_MODE=STATIC querystring parameter added. The statistics are stored in RSDDSTAT when the reporting agent job runs, but not when a user requests the precalculated web template through the URL directly in a web browser. Are the usage statistics stored in another location, other than the RSDDSTAT table in this situation?

    Hello,
We had the same problem and sorted out it but don´t using BW standard functionality. I added a image tag on all web template that reference to a .Net application. This application get Windows user from Internet Explorer and store statistics (user, time, webtemplate, filter options, etc) on a SQL Server Database. I don't finish the application frontend but we are getting good information directly of the database.
Let me know if I could give you more details.

  • Function to show Universe Objects used by reports

Is there a function in XI3.1 to see all of the reports in which a particular Object is being used?
I don't see any of the canned audit reports that would show this.
Example: I have a Universe Object called "Ins. Proper Name'' and I want to see how many of our reports are using this object.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,
    Here is what I use:
    Result Objects:
    -Universe Name from Actions/Action Details
    -Action Type from Actions
    -Document Name from Actions/Document Operation
    -Action Time from Actions
-Action Type Detail from Action/Action Type
    Query Filters:
    -Action Time Between <Begin Date> and <End Date>
    Report Filters:
-Action Type In List: SQL Value
Note: Action Type Detail contains the SQL for every query that is run within the date range provided. While the SQL contains the name of every query in every report, it does not use reference a universe object by name. i,e, to check whether a specific universe object exists in the report, you will have to search for the object's sql.
Also, I use an additional another query filter to return only objects that match a specific pattern.
Let me know if you need anything else.
    Best,
    Srinivas

  • Qn about query usage statistics

    Hello
I'm trying to find / analyze infocube usage statistics for the first time and have a few questions.
I have a 3.5 cube "ZCOLLECTIONS" on which I need to run statistics to see how often queries on that cube are used.
I see two queries under that infocube - 'Collections_1_query' and 'Collections_2_query'
I see that statistics cube 0TCT_C01 is loaded everyday.
I created a query on 0TCT_C01 and restricted the Infoprovider to ZCOLLECTIONS and query to 'Collections_1_query'. When I ran the query, it gave no results (so I guess this query is never used?)
When I tried to restrict the Infoprovider by the query Collections_2_query, it says that the query could not be found.
I can see from the query properties that it was created a few weeks back. So why would it not be found? Could it be because the query was saved in the author's favorites?
Am I looking for the statistics in the correct way ?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
    Karen.

    Hi ,
Check this out..hope your loading stats data on a regular basis. Please check if those queries your are looking for are present in the Technical Content cubes.

  • Dimension vs Detail Universe objects

What are the pros and cons of creating Dimension vs Detail Universe objects?
We have created our Universes with both types to logically group some dimension objects with details that can only be one value of it's associated dimension object. We have found that in Webi, Detail objects cannot be merged where two or more queries are written. We are on XIR2 SP2 and are planning to upgrade to XI 3.0 soon. Are any issues resolved in XI 3.0?
    Any response would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Jacques,
Thanks for the helpful reply.  If I could as an example, we have several instances where we have defined dates as dimension objects in a universe.  Of course a date can have many detail attributes and for these we created them as attributes under the date dimension.  So for dimension Month_End_Date we have attributes such as Month_End_Date_Year or Month_End_Date_Quarter; and as mentioned we cannot merge on these attributes.  Perhaps one persons dimension is anotheru2019s attribute; potato, potahto.  While still somewhat of a newbie with Business Objects it just seems that merging of attributes should be allowed.
Again thanks for your earlier reply and listening to me rant a little.
