Universe of an InfoCube on BW HANA

Hi all,
I have a problem with the performance of a report in Web Intelligence BO 4.1, I hope that somebody can help me.
I did a universe with a connection Data Federator, the source of the connection is an InfoCube Optimized on BW HANA. After that I´ve created a report in Web Intelligence, this report have mandatory filters for year, month and version but despite of that the InfoCube is Optimized on BW HANA the report don´t have a good perfomance. The Infocube have about 1 million records.
Somebody knows if is recommendable to create connections Data Federator on InfoCubes Optimized? or Is it better to use connections BICS for to create reports on InfoCubes Optimized?

If you use BEx Query on top of InfoCube with BICS Connection to develop WebI Report then please find the below link's for Drill Down feasibility which you have to consider.

Hy expert's, i try to create a universe on SAP Infocube but i find this restriction:
1) i'm unable to modify objects with BO function on the object panel
2) i can't create new measures using the function ( the button "_>>") on Select/Where area on the object panel properties.

Hi Andrea,
If you are using BOE XI3.0 and upper version you are able to create and modify any universe metadata.
On the other hand, I confirm that you cannot use the editor ( the button "_>>"): you have to enter the definition (Select/Where) in the text box.
This is due to the fact that the editor is the one used by Desktop Intelligence: Desktop Intelligence does not support OLAP universes, so that's why it has been disabled.

Current date in BO queries with Universe built on Infocube

Hi dear experts,
We are facing the following issue :
- we built a universe on top of a multiprovider (with 2 infocubes) since we don't want to manage BW Queries.
- we need to restrict data on WebI queries using current date or system date (to compare with a date from the universe)
No options to do that seem to be available through MDX in the universe.
Has anyone already solved such an issue and how do you proceed?

Hi Andre,
I assume you are aware that you are losing items when connecting to the cubes directly, such as restricted keyfigures, calculated keyfigures, variables, structures, navigational attributes, and the option to use authorization variables.
In the universe right now you don't have an option to reference something like a system data - that is done with an EXIT variable in the query.

Unable to access queries in Universe created over infocubes

Hello Gurus
Im having a weird situation over here with my queries created over BI content info cubes.Ive gone through all the threads related to my issue and ive tried more or less all the solutions specified. I hope i would get a different solution than what has been stated in other threads. Im able to see the cube under the $INFOCUBE but i'm unable to see my queries created under the OLAP folder which is usually above the $INFOCUBE. Can you please help me out as im struck since a while and havent been able to move further. and the funny thing is im able to see some BI content queries created over other infocubes...but why mine?????
my system details:
SAP BW 7.30 SP5
SAP BI 4.0 SP2

Have the BEX Queries been saved with the property "Allow external access" ?
Which Client Tool is displaying this problem? Universe Designer? Information Design Tool ? WebIntelligence? etc
also, where are you creating your OLAP connection? CMC or IDT ?
Which authentication type are you using? i.e Prompt is OK for Analysis, but WebI/CR require 'named' or 'sso'

Import data from BO XI R2 universe to an infocube in SCM APO

Guys,
We have a requirement to import data from a BO universe which contains historical figures into our APO system. With what parameters should i define the RFC destination in SM59 on the APO side? What should the connection type be? Has anyone made a similar connection before?
It would be very nice if I could get a step by step instruction set on how to setup this connection. Please help. Needless to mention, helpful answers will be <removed by moderator>.

To manually edit in PSA, use transaction RSA1. In the "modeling" folder, open the "PSA" folder. By opening the concerned infosource, you'll find the PCfile PSA you need to edit, it must be named "REQU_xxxxxx" and time stamped : by clicing on the PSA symbol, you'll reach a popup named "selection of data packets for editing". Select all the records and validate. Then you'll reach a screen named "maintenance of PSA data request REQU_xxxxxxx" : there you can see how the system truly read your flat file datas, and you'll be able to correct those datas, and save modifications. After that you can have a try to restart the loading (only from PSA to infocube of course....)
This should allow you to spot the problem in your flat file.... I hope...

How can i use bw7 olap infocube datasource to create universe?

- when connecting to a cube directly you will lose the following functionality
   - restricted keyfigures
   - calculated keyfigures
   - SAP variables
   - structures
   - navigational attributes

Help on IDT on HANA : secured connexion doesn't show all the views

Hello HANA and BusinessObjects experts.
We want to build a Universe on a HANA View.
We are following the steps indicated in the IDT user Guide :
Build a Relational Connection on HANA (JDBC driver) in my project.(.cnx)
Publish the connection to BO repository and create a secured connection shortcut (.cns)
Create a Data Foudation and that last (cns) connection.
And there is the problem :
If in the Local cnx connection, I am able to see all my calculation views (as well as all HANA live views) , whereas I am only able to see a very small subset of these views in the published secured connection (cns).
The name of the views I am still able to see are kind of 'renamed' : ex :
What I see in the cnx for the 'ADVINI_ANALYSE_COPA' view
.... And what I get in the published connection
I have played with filters, tried ODBC connection... but anyway I am not able to see the view on which I want to build a universe.
We are running SAP HANA 1.0 SP07, and BO 4.1 SP03.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Error when using defined object in Universe in Web Intelligence

Hi all
I create universe connect from Infocube
I create a new Object named "Sale Value" to get YTD of Object name "SS Total value of the invoice lin" with code following

I parse to check systax "OK".
But when I run query and using above defined object in Web Intelligence, I get error following

Hi,
The MDX parser in the universe designer just check the XML Tags or Syntax. It does not validate the expression.
The YTD, QTD, MTD functions in the universe designer requires a reference to a predefined time chararcteristics eg. 0CALMONTH etc. So the correct expression would be similar to the below expression:
<EXPRESSION> SUM(YTD([0CALMONTH].CurrentMember), @Select(Key Figures\SS Total value of the invoice line))</EXPRESSION>
Also you need to add the time characteristics in the result set.

HANA Upgrade 69.3 Experiences

Hello All,
I recently upgraded to HANA 69.3 from 61 in our dev landscape. Experiencing severe issues.
We had several universes which had joins of calc + analytic views. They all broke. Standard SQL generated from universe is no longer supported by HANA.
We have one COPA related analytic view, which pulls very small number of records. around 500. It started timing out with memory issues. HANA memory usage peaked to 230GB.
Have couple of high messages with SAP. But its scary.
Anyone having issues?

HANA - sap bw 3.5

Hello Experts,
we are migrating to HANA.BW System already upgraded to BW 7. Our users still using BW 3.5 Version of - SAP BW 3.5 Queries, BEX Analyzer and Work Books. can we still use any of this after HANA ? Please advise in detail.

Even we are in a similar situation and asked a similar question to SAP and this is what we got
Is the BW Bex Web Template and Workbook upgrade necessary for the HANA migration? If yes, is there a tool that could assist with mass upgrades?
The migration to BEx 7.0 is required because BW7.4 does not support BEx3.5. There is no program for mass upgrade for Bex queries/workbooks/web templates
1. Since April 2013 BEx 3.5 is in customer-specific maintenance and not available anymore with the standard SAPGUI compilation. For more details, see SAP Note 1410878 - Maintenance for BW 3.5 front-end add-ons.
2.Please note that BEx 3.5 is not supported for use with SAP NetWeaver BW 7.4 or higher. For more details, see SAP Note 1932461 - SAP BW 3.5 BEx Tools / BW 3.5 Frontend Add-ons are incompatible with BW7.4.
3.You can find a "Cookbook for Migration to BEx 7.0" in SAP Note 1807522 - BEx 3.5 Objects Migration to BEx 7.0.
4. Regarding , Web items please refer to SAP Note 832712 - BW: Migration of Web items from 3.x to 7.0.
Is migration of 3.x objets necessary for HANA migration?
After the migration, 3.x data flows are fully executable; however, so that the performance advantages of the SAP HANA DB can be fully utilized, It is recommend that you convert all InfoCubes to SAP HANA-optimized InfoCubes. In addition, we highly recommend that you migrate all 3.x data flows to 7.x data flows because enhancements always optimize regarding 7.x data flows.

Where can we access BW queries and Infocubes?

Hi All,
We are able to build universe over an Infocube from SAP BW. Right now we are able to access the BW queries from Infoview by creating an olap intelligence connection. Is it the only way to access BW queries or Is it possible to access BW queries from universe designer and build a universe on BWquery?
In short what are the different ways to access a BW query for reporting purpose in BO?

Error: WIS 10901 in Web Intelligence XI in infoview

Hi, expert!
Now I am facing a strange problem, all my webi reports against universe created using Infocube/Bex query (basically SAP data source) get a error message in infoview -A database error occured. The database error text is: A runtime exception has occured. (License key check failed. Check that you are licensed to access SAP data sources). (WIS 10901). However all those reports can run in webi rich client without any problem.
Any clues whether this is a license issue or something else?

It sounds to me that the license key for the integration Kit for SAP solutions has expired on your BO server. Make sure to renew it.

I am having the same problem. I checked and double checked everything, including deleting and recreating the Universe and the Connection. No improvement. On a whim, I deleted the hierarchy from the query on which the Universe was based, and recreated the Universe on the query without the hierarchy. The problem went away.

SAP BW InfoCubes as data sources
- Remote InfoCube: While fully supported, building and deploying universes on remote InfoCubes is not recommended for ad-hoc query-, reporting-, and analysis-use scenarios. Such architecture is generally not expected to meet query performance expectations with interactive queries.
- MultiCubes and Multi-InfoProviders: Building and deploying a Business Objects universe on top of a MultiCube or Multi-InfoProvider is identical to building and deploying a universe on top of an InfoCube.
SAP BW Queries as recommended data sources
- Not all BW metadata features can be retrieved on an InfoCube level
- BW Queries offer a flexible extension to the data modeling environment.InfoCubes require more effort to change.
- BW Queries offer significant functionality to create customized data sources that meet end-user requirements.

Can't create connection to SAP BW in Desinger

I could connect to BW and see a lot of BW infocubes. And I created an universe based on infocube
and created the webi reports and refreshed the reports. Everything looks ok.
Now I get the error message when I tried to create a connection to BW in BO designer.
The error message is " Err DBD: [BusinessObjects115.OLAP. BrowerObject.1] : SAP "
And connect to BW in CR is still ok.
Any advise appreciated.

I checked the license. i think license for "BusinessObjects Enterprise Premium" should include Integration kit. it looks ok.
1) i can access infoview with SAP authentication , that means i can log on infoview with SAP user and password.
2) i can access BW in Crystal Report.
but now when i open the connection i created before , would like to check the objects in BW, i get error messae :
Error DBD:(BusinessObjects115.OLAPI.BrowseObject.1): SAP
I don't know what's wrong.
