Unix shell Script Help

Hi,
I am not to familiar with shell scripting. And i need a shell script that would look for a certain filename (eg: ASN*.txt) in a directory(Eg:data) and if it does find that, it calls a concurrent program(Eg: abc.xyz) and once this is called and procedure excutes successfully, I take the file and move it to another directory(Eg:archive)
Any help would be aprreciated.

Need Help in creating Unix Shell Script for database

Would be appreciable if some one can help in creating unix shell script for the Oracle DB 10,11g.
Here is the condition which i want to implement.
1. Create shell script to create the database with 10GB TB SPACE and 3 groups of redo log file(Each 300MB).
2. Increase size of redolog file.
3. Load sample schema.
4. dump the schema.
5. Create empty db (Script should check if db already exists and drop it in this case).
6. Create backup using rman.
7. restore backup which you have backed up.

This isn't much of a "code-sharing" site but a "knowledge-sharing" site. Code posted me may be from a questioner who has a problem / issue / error with his code. But we don't generally see people writing entire scripts as responses to such questions as yours. There may be other sites where you can get coding done "for free".
What you could do is to write some of the code and test it and, if and when it fails / errors, post it for members to make suggestions.
But the expectation here is for you to write your own code.

Error while trying to execute a unix shell script from java program

I have written a program to execute a unix shell script in a remote machine. I am using J2ssh libraries to estabilish the session connection with the remote box.The program is successfully able to connect and authenticate with the box.
The runtime .exec() is been implemented to execute the shell script.I have given below the code snippet.

Hi, I am using a simple program to connect to a RMI server and execute shell script. I use the Runtime.exec aommand to do the same.
The script is sh /tmp/pub/alka/test.sh /tmp/pub/alka/abc/xyz/ul ul
The script when run from the server, gives no errors. But when ran using rthe above method in java, gives errors as follows,

Calling stored procedure from unix shell script

Hello,
I am facing a problem while calling a stored procedure from UNIX shell script. I want to return a output variable from the stored procedure to the UNIX environment.
Here is the code-

The problem is :prd_out is not getting copied to shell variable OUTPUT.
I have a dbms_output.put_line in the stored proc create_pm_window and I can see that prd_out is getting populated.
Any help is really appreciated.

First step :
make sure the PL/SQL works as expected.
Does the following display the expected output executed from SQL*Plus ?

Unable to pass parameter in oracle procedure through unix shell script

I have oracle procedure where in I have to pass the value of procedure parameter through unix script.
Follwoing is the sample procedure which i tried to exceute from the unix.

It's not the parameter in the cursor that is the problem, it's that you are trying to use static SQL for something that won't be known until run time (the owner of the table).
You would need to use something like ...

Comment in Unix shell script

i have a doubt as to how to comment a line in a shell script as i have to do that in a config. file of Oracle 9i Application Server. Is it a "--" in a line. Please help.

Hi,
Your script use the variable shell $XXMPP_TOP which is not defined in the script, take care of this.
And also, make sure where you execute this script (the command cp copys files in same directory where you execute your script)

Also, make sure the command FNDLOAD exists. for more example about Oracle FNDLOAD Scripts

i want to do a coldback using a unix shell script.
the db capacity is around 12 Tb
wen the backup is done i need to zip it too.at this moment i dont want to copy to the disk.

Exit status running java classpath in a unix shell script

I'm new to putting java into unix scripts. I have a java classpath running inside of a unix shell script. During my testing it will error with java.io.FileNotFoundException error, which I know why that is, but when I set in my unix shell script this to see the right exit status of success/fail, it always shows a 0 for success when that isn't really the case. Below is the two lines I have set to capture the exit status and just display that exit status for now.
notifycode=$?
echo $notifycode
I have these 2 lines above on a line right below my java command in my unix shell script. How can I get my unix shell script to show the right exit status if the java classpath command fails? Thanks for any help.

That's Java code, it says "End this Java application and send return code 1 back to the shell". As for how the shell gets the return code from the application, that's a question about your shell and not about Java programming, no?

RFC_REMOTE_PIPE is Returning 1 alwasys and not able to execute Unix shell script

I am trying to execute a simple unix shell script from ABAP.
What I did so far..
1. created a test.sh file with single command echo "Hello".
2. placed this file on application server /Usr/sap/test.sh
3. executing ABAP program which as FM RFC_REMOTE_PIPE

i checked t code \SMGW , i don't see any output...
i checked FM GWY_READ_CONNECTED_SYSTEMS, i don't hsee anyting related to unix...

I resolved the issue.
It was issue with permission.
Script file should have full permission ( Mode 777)..

1. If i uninstall GNU Classpath, Does it cause system not to work properly? Not in my experience. I have encountered dozens of cases where it cured problems like this immediately. Alternatively adjust your PATH so that it finds the JDK before it finds GNU CLASSPATH.
(Now i am using that java on my server with a certificate , I dont want to risk the system. )GNU CLASSPATH is the risk here.

I can't find that statement on that page, but it does show compliance problems of up to 20% in the security area (and *40%* in LDAP, the area I'm working in at the moment).
Basically GNU CLASSPATH is not Java and cannot be expected to behave like it. In this case it doesn't even understand the format of a Java keystore. QED.
Note that they don't call it 'Java', because it isn't. I quote:
GNU Classpath 1.0 will be fully compatible with the 1.1 and 1.2 API specifications, in addition to having significant (>95%) compatability with the 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 APIs.In other words they haven't even finished JDK 1.1 yet, let alone all the other stuff. Run Unix command / Run Unix shell script from Forms9i

Hi,
I have a requirement to run Unix command and Unix shell scripts from Forms9i.
I know HOST command cannot be used directly. I also know we can create some JAVA stored procedure to perform the task, but I don't want to create any JAVA stored procedure as there are some security concerns.
Please point me towards any other way to achieve the same.
I would really appreciate your help.

There is no reason why HOST can't be used. This is what it is for. As for using Java, it is not a stored procedure that you would be using, it would be imported Java (imported into the form).
The best way to use the HOST command is to call a script (.sh) rather than calling a Unix command directly. This is because HOST will not pick up environment variables set at the system level. So the script would first need to set the necessary environment variables then call the desired commands.
