I Had this same error, and while I was unable to fix it, I was able to get around it. I logged in to the iTunes store and by default, I had 15 min to purchase from the Apps Store. Not sure where the problem lies, though!

Can't download Lion: "There was an error App Store (100)" !!
Hi All,
The App store has an error when I try to buy Lion, and prevents me from doing so!
I get two messages:
"The item is temporarily unavailable, please try again later"
followed by,
"There was an error in the App Store (100)"
I have retried several times without success.
My guess is the App Store can't cope with the download demand.
Anybody else had difficulties trying to buy/download Lion? The support article above may be correct. I eventually (30 min) after quitting and restart the App Store and retrying to purchase Lion many times, I was able to download it. This problem has never happened before with any previous App Store purchases.

I"m running 10.7.5 on a Mac Pro and App Store version 1.1.2 and everytime I try to log in I get an error message followed by a secondary message with an error of (4). Just trying to update my FCPX from 10.01 to 10.09. Is there a way to reset the App Store? And can I download and install an updated App Store on a Desktop?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. -
Hi guys,
Can't really figure it out. I have a single apple id on my iMac. My appstore is always asking for an update for Angry Birds, but when I click to update it asks for some other apple id. I never used any other apple id here.
How can I get rid off Angry Birds on my iMac? Can I delete is somewhere (its not in apps folder)? Because if I am trying to buy it for my current apple id it fails saying Uknown Errorthis does not work, i have been trying now for about 2 weeks, i think its time apple got onto this error and did something about it

I've downloaded Lion this morning. now clicking on "install" I get a error message "500 server internal error".
any ideas? it happens with other apps update too.I think I sorted this out. My problem started with "your device or computer could not be verified" and morphed from there as I tweaked.
Try this at your own peril as ymmv. Some of this may not be necessary as this was an excercise in trail and error.
Delete the following from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
NetworkInterfaces.plist
com.apple.network.identification.plist
com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
This all has something to do with the AirPort config - so that all needs to be reset. Once these are deleted - reboot. The NetworkInterfaces plist will rebuild.
After boot - open network configuration and delete the AirPort interface from the Automatic profile. Then immediately add it back. (not sure why I had to do this - but it didn't work otherwise). Now reboot again.
After reboot - make sure the AirPort is turned on - you may need to give it some time to sort things out and find your networks. At this point things may be fixed.
Please don't do this unless you are comfortable jacking around with stuff that may make things worse. -

My 10.8.3 update did not install properly citing an 'Unknown Error'. Now, my Mail and Mac App Store aren't working. What went wrong and how do i fix it ?
I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that are causing the problem.
I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -

I am getting error messages when downloading Numbers and Keynote 5 from Ap Store software updates. I am then told return to "Purchases" and download again.
Files appear to download entire MB download and then fail to install, requiring a complete re-start of download from the beginning. This is *expensive* when you have a limited monthly download cap.
Is there any way to find the previously downloaded file within OSX Mavericks and to resume it rather than having to redownload the whole file (with the possibility of getting another error message at the end (this has happen twice now!
Any help much appreciated.Franklyn ..
Try here > Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads -
I've been trying to install recent updates for numbers, pages, and keynote, I get a message that says "There was an error in the App store. Please try again later." (20). I tried several times over the last few days and continue to get the same error message.
KatThank you Catherine & MrToaster - Yes - I've just updated to my new credit card. All the details were correct, inc authorisation code but App Store kept prompting me to update iMovie then, not allowing me to (There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (20)).
Your advice worked - I logged out and in again.
The problem is that I'll definitely have forgotten your tip when my card next expires! -
I keep getting the message "An unknown error has occurred" when trying to sign in to the App Store. How do I solve this problem?
Make sure you have the correct country selected. Click the round flag icon bottom right side of the App Store window.

Trying to install app from App Store results in "An error has occurred."
I am trying to update TextWrangler in the OSX App Store application. Multiple attempts to update have resulted in the same error. This appears to be also happening with other apps (Pages, in particular), but for the moment I will keep troubleshooting localized to TextWrangler.
The basic symptom is that I try to update TextWrangler and receive a dialog stating "TextWrangler failed to download / Use the Purchases page to try again.". After I acknowledge the dialog I see "An error has occurred." next to the "Install" button on the purchases page. Further attempts receive the same error.
Initial attempts to remedy this have included deleting everything in $TMPDIR/../C, everything in /Library/Updates, ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist, ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist, Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.cookies, ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.storeagent, everything in Library/Caches/com.apple.storehelper/ as indicated in several forums offering help related to this problem. I have also tried completely removing the software (from /Applications) and installing from scratch; I get the same symptoms in this case.
As per https://discussions.apple.com/message/23951810#23951810, I have included a log file to (hopefully) help diagnose the issue. While I don't really understand much of the log output, I do find it interesting that at Apr 21 17:02:49 (when the download starts) you see many mathematically meaningless percentages displayed.
I very much appreciate in advance any help you can provide on this issue
The following log was created by:
1. quitting all applications
2. starting Console
3. selecting /var/log -> appstore.log
4. clicking "Clear Display"
5. starting App Store
6. clicking "Purchased"
7. clicking "Install" next to TextWrangler
8. waiting until the "TextWrangler failed to download / Use the Purchases page to try again." dialog appeared
9. quitting App Store
10. in Console, select all and copy/paste here:

1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now? -
My iPad will not connect to iTunes, the app store, or the update, although it will go on the internet. What to do?
And what does the error message say?
