Unknown Error 0xE800002E

I downloaded 2 updates from the itunes Application Store (Ambiance and Labyrinth LE--during synching with my iphone I received this message: The application "Ambiance" was not installed on the iPhone "Nairb's iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (0xE800002E). I received the same message for Labyrinith LE.
So, I went back to my application to try to see if I could download the updates again...nope.
How can I recover from this "unknown error?"

This is *+not a work around+*, it does seem to correct the problem and allow future updates to be installed without this error.
It is reported that the application data is NOT LOST with this process. You'll have to re-enter a few passwords and rearrange all your icons (again), but that's a small price to pay for a permanent resolution to this problem.
I had this problem and worked-around (turn off sync of one or more apps, sync removes the app and it's data, then turn on sync of the specific apps again, syn and they are working again...) BUT... it all fails at the next update again.
I just used this fix to correct the problem, and decided not to sync music/pic until the next day. All my app data was there, for example, in WhosHere, all the conversations were intact and in ShopShop had my shopping list. I'm happy.
Two of my apps failing this update were Twinkle and ShopShop. Both completed the app update perfectly with all data in tact from before this fix.
The solution linked above does not lose the app data and afterward updates are successfully installed.

  • Unknown error 0xE800002E in regard to syncing applications after a restore

I recently had to restore my 2G iPhone. Since then I have had problems syncing and updating some of my applications. I get the message, "Some of the applications in your iTunes library were not installed on the iPhone (name of iPhone) because one or more errors occurred. The arror is always the same and is referred to as "Unknown error (0xE800002E). None of my searches for this error produce results. The four applications referenced are on my iPhone, contrary to what the message says, but when there are updates the sync process breaks down. I visited the Genius Bar and they managed to clear the logjam of unsynced updates but they could not explain how and I still get the error message every time I sync. There have been no new updates since the logjam was cleared so I do not know if updates are still a problem. The fact that I continue to get the eror message suggests that I still have a problem. Can someone explain to me what error (0xE800002E)is and how I might resolve it?

Thank you. The discussion thread that you recommended was very interesting. It started about the same time that I began having problems of another sort with my iPhone and ended up doing a "restore". The first updates after the "restore" would download but not install. The updates began piling up, etc. as I explained in my initial inquiry. In checking my log, I see that I updated to iTunes v.8 on Sept. 11 and started having problems and did the "restore" on Sept. 13 and visited Genuius Bar an the 14th to resolve some issues from the "restore" (iPhone was jittery, jumping from app to app, stirring up icons, etc.). Following that I started having problems installing updates. I was on vacation from Sept. 17 to 29, began getting the 0xE800002E message approx. Sept. 15 and by the time I returned, I had three updates that would not install--Bloomberg, Units and Ecco Note Lite. Back to the Genuius Bar on Sept. 30, got the three updates installed but continued to receive the error message but no new updates. The error message references only four apps, three of which are the ones that would not install plus Sol Free. So there is somewhat of a disconnect between the sequence of events in my case and those described in the discussion that you referred me to. I am a very senior citizen, and since I had problems following my "restore" the first time around, will delay doing another "restore" until I am having an "I can tackle anything" day. I would ask the Genius Bar to do it but it takes too much time and I don't want to wear out my welcome. It is also a chore to lug my computer to the Apple Store. Thank you for your suggestion. I think I will leave my question up a while longer to see what else turns up and will jump into the new discussion as well. One has to also fault Apple in that I was not able to locate that discussion through the search feature before initiating my own discussion.

  • App not installed on iphone b/c unknown error 0xE800002E - caused by dups?

I have had trouble for days updating various iPhone apps from iTunes and I have tried several approaches, none working. The message from iTunes was:
The application "AIM" was not installed on the iphone "AWOLFEII" because an unknown error occurred (0xE800002E).
I could use the apps on my phone, so I let it go. And one of my key Apps (SplashID!) wouldn't update. Then more apps started failing update. So I really needed to do something.
I decided to try the "delete apps on iphone" approach before I did an entire restore.
I deleted the known trouble apps from the phone, then shut it down and restarted.
ONE OF THE DELETED APPS WAS STILL ON MY IPHONE.
    I deleted it AGAIN.
Then the apps ALL updated successfully.

    It seems not...
It is really disappointing. I bought this iPhone 3G because I really needed a mobile device with such amazing features. Now I am spending hours and hours just keep it working. I have no time for this.
Deleting the applications and resync works fine for simple tools. If you delete YouNote for example and resync you get your app back up and running but you loose all saved data. Wow, I really start to hate my iPhone for all the trouble.
I don't know how many bugs apple has to fix, that they don't even manage such a really (I mean REALLY) big issue like updating the software on your iPhone.
Like I said: disappointing in any way...

  • Unknown error occurred (0xE800002E).

After downloading updates to applications and syncing to iphone I got error message: Some of the applications in your iTunes library were not installed on the iPhone "(my name) iPhone because one or more errors occurred.
    Example of error:
"The application "(the updated app)" was not installed on the iPhone "(my name) iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE800002E)."
The applications however were still on the phone after the update and I was able to run them. I did a restore of the iPhone from the latest backup and the error message still came up. The more updates I receive the more error messages I got. I'm up to 19 app errors.
However, after deleting one of the 19 applications that were listed from my iTunes library and then syn icing to Phone again after erasing it I did not get the error. I now how 18 errors.
I called up apple tech support that they could not resolve the issue.
    Anyone have a solution?

i posted this approx 2 weeks ago the day after 2.0.2 came out, and here rechecking these posts, it seems it hasn't been addressed yet: as i also shot a help email to the apple support folks being unresolved still.
i'm somewhere in the 23-ish range now on this same error, as when done doing a sync it shows this same error message on a long list also.
the general 'condition' of the operation of the phone seems shaky, as many of the apps quit themselves in mid-flight during usage within the program.
my hopeful goal is to share with you folks and with those who are hired by Apple to read these 'boards' cuz it seems hard to believe that Apple is Not having similar problems in their test labs that they are trying to resolve. something as generic as an 'auto-sync' update failing on an App Store app with a generic 3G phone would be a widespread issue, unless someone has found a cure?

  • App update errors (0xE800002E)

I get this message in itunes 7.7.1.11 when syncing updates to apps:
"the application (name) was not installed on the ipod (name of ipod) because an unknown error occurred (0xE800002E)"
five updates are refusing to install. they also will not install directly to the ipod touch via wifi from the app store.
    any ideas??
    thanks in advance...

  • IFooty update, unknown error. How do i delete it?

A few days ago i put iFooty on my iPhone 3g, and it worked great.
Today i see that there is an update for it, so i try to update it from my phone. It tells me that it will update next time i sync it.
When i sync my phone i get an error saying (something similar to)...
"The application iFooty wont install, an unknown error has occured (0XE800002E)".
I have tried to completely reload it, deleted it off the phone, reset my phone, tried to re-sync the phone numerous times, but still get the same message.
I have now lost interest, and would like to get rid of the app off both my phone and itunes. I still have the red (1) on my application store updates on my phone, thats annoying me because i cant update it at all.
I can tick or untick the application on itunes, but dont know how to remove it from the applications list.
    Any ideas?

Yep, that got grid of it.
The funny thing is, is that Applications didnt show under Library on iTunes. It was ticked under preferences, so i unticked it and reticked it, and then it appeared.
I have managed to delete it off my phone and off itunes now though, tanks.

  • HT201263 my iphone 4 went into recovery mode & will not restore. Unknown error 21 comes up on iTunes. Please can someone offer any ideas for a solution?

I have an iphone 4 nearly 2 yrs old. It has worked perfectly for that time. On Friday last (whilst away on holiday) I took the phone out of my pocket & it was lifeless. I tried switching it on, no joy, I tried the power/home button reset no joy. I plugged it into a mains charger & it came on but had a banner across the screen saying "verification required". I removed the charger & decided I would try again when I got home so I could connect to my PC & iTunes.
At home I went through the whole above process again but when I plugged it into the mains again it just had the Apple logo going on/off repeatedly. I plugged the phone into my PC & the apple logo appeared followed by the "connect to iTunes". In iTunes I get the banner "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes". So I click on "OK" the "Restore" then a banner asking if I'm sure I want to restopre the iPhone appears, press "Restore & Update". iTunes starts to remove the software, veryfies it with Apple & then another flag "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (21) which appears to be a security issue.
I thought the above problem was something to do with O2 because I picked up my new iPhone 4S last Tuesday but was unable to set it up until I got back from my holiday, O2 say it isn't anything they've done.
My question is has it happened to anyone & can anybody offer a solution, is it a hardware or software issue?

  • Unknown Error during Recovery - iPad no longer Recognized by iTunes

I have a 3rd Generation iPad which I was attempting to perform a factory reset.  I received an "Unknown Error" during the process and from that point on I have been unable to get iTunes to recognize my iPad in recovery mode (or otherwise).
I have tried every thread on the subject, but I found one interesting thing.  If I connect the iPad with the same cable, etc. to another computer it immediately recognizes it in recovery mode and offers to restore the iPad.
It seems like my computer is not recognizing the iPad because it was in the process of restoring the device when the error occurred.  Does anyone know if there is a way to reset or fix this issue.  I would prefer not to update iTunes and download both the new iTunes and iPad software again and use another computer if it is not necessary.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hey KSHItunes,
That was a good test to try your iPad on another computer.  It does seem to isolate the issue to something with your computer setup.
Although you would prefer not to update iTunes, there may be steps in this article which can help.

  • Ipod no longer authorized (unknown error -42408)

posted this at itunes site as well.
out of blue, having problem i've never had syncing my 60G ipod.
for years have been syncing this ipod with my itunes on my macbook (only). for the past few times (?month or so), i'm getting an error message when i try to sync that first says, the ipod/macbook is not authorized for this ipod (which it always has been).
then it asks me if i want to authorize it. when i hit "authorize", it brings up an old itunes account i had and asks me for the old password, which i enter. then i get an error message that says:
"unknown error -42408. error in itunes store. please try again later."
how do i fix this so that i don't get this error message and can continue syncing with my most recent account, which has NEVER been a problem in the past?
    thanks.

I have exactly the same problem. My iPod is a 30GB one from 2005 or 2006 (I don't know how to identify its category). When it was new, I had a PC; then a year and a half ago I switched to a Mac and got everything transferred ok, and have been synching the iPod to the Mac with no trouble since then. (Well, slight trouble, because the iPod is now very full, and I haven't figured out the best way to synch "almost everything", but so far I'm managing somehow.) But just before leaving Moscow March 10, I wanted to synch and recharge the iPod, and got the same problem, with the same sequence of messages described at the start of this thread. So I only recharged it. Now I'm in Amherst, tried again, exact same problem. So now only recharging again.
Same computer, same iPod, why does it suddenly not recognize that this computer is authorized to synch this iPod, and why does it make this error when I tell it to authorize it? And how can I fix it?
    Grateful for any help.
    Barbara

I bought today a new iPad from Rideau Store. The setup guys didn't update to latest software version. I tried to do myself trough iTunes, which notify me that an upgrade is available. After a while the upgrading process froze with a msg "unknown error ..". I clicked on the More  info  button and I got a page saying "due to a scheduled upgrade of Apple's support system some feature are not available.

  • How can you get your music synced from iTunes to your iPod when a window pop ups on the screen saying"The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019))?

I had 429 songs already on my iPod Touch. When I was in the process of syncing a song from my iTunes Library on to my iPod, a window popped up on the screen saying, ""The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019)). I click "Device" on my iTunes Library to make sure the song was in my iPod. It showed the song that was recently synced now listed under "Device", but when I physically looked for the song on my iPod Touch, it does not appear on there at all. It all started when I decided to put a Playlist I created in the iTunes Library and transferred it on to my iPod. Do you know why it may affected my syncing process and is there any way where I could get the syncing function back to normal so that I can continue adding songs on my iPod? Thank you for listening.    P.S. My iPod iOS version is 4.3.5.

I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that  are causing the problem.
