i can't open itunes v7 because of this "unknown error (-200)".
and if i revert to v 6.0.5 i'm having lots of problems as well (that i didn't have before this GRMBL version 7)!
what is this unknown error (-200) and what can i do? i've been looking all over the web and on the apple site, can't find anything about it... help me out please!
    thanks

i can't open itunes v7 because of this "unknown error (-200)".
that can be associated with a damaged QuickTime. (itunes needs a fully functional QuickTime in order to work.)
so let's first try a careful standalone QT 7.1.3 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1.3 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1.3 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

My ipad2 won't accept my apple password for new app install. I've tried several time and get a pop up "unknown error". Help?

Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try again.

Unless as part of a backup, or stored somewhere else, they are gone.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage. He can continue to use yours for iTunes content, but for everything else, he needs his own.
When you did what you did, as far as iCloud knows, this is the same person with multiple devices, and that's they way things are supposed to work: keep everything in sync.

  • Itunes 7- Unknown Error (-200)

Everytime I try to start Itunes I get the message An. Unknown error occured (-200). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ituens program any suggestions?

    BSkeeter48,
I would like to try a few things. Roy has mentioned wanting some more information about this issue.
Would you mind working with me to help us track down the cause?
    Hopefully you are.
If you open the Quicktime player do you get the same error?
Which anti-virus software are you running? Are you running any anti-spyware software or pop-up blockers?
Next I would like to have you reinstall iTunes 7 and have it make a log of the install process.
    1. Open a commnd prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Open iTunes, and see if you get the same error still. If you don't great its fixed, and we are almost done.
Take the answer to these questions, and send an email to Roy. Attach the log.txt file that was created to the email. When you go to attach the log, you should be able to select your hard disk (C:) and have log.txt right there.
If it was not fixed, come back here, let me know you have done the steps above including sending the email, and I have a few more steps I would like to have you try.

  • ITunes unknown error (-200) (and others)

Just switched from a iPod mini to an older 20 gig. Tried to sync it. iTunes crashed. Made me reformat the iPod. Lost all music on it. Also, no audio was playing. Told me to update iTunes. (thinking it would solve the sync issue) I did. iTunes wont open because of quote...
    "an unknown error occurred (-200)."
So I tried updating quicktime. Didn't work. Now audio wont work for QT player either.
I have tried past versions of iTunes and they wont load either (same error).
So now I have 2 empty iPods, and a computer that will not play audio or let me load my iPod. (websounds and other apps still work so it isnt the speakers themselves).
Any help on any of these things would be great. And spell it out please I'm not too keen on the procedures here.

Also, I have not moved any files since updating. Still won't do anything.

  • ITunes won't open, unknown error (-200)

I'm on a G5 running OS 10.4.6. Unexpectedly my iTunes stopped opening(latest version 6.4). When trying to open it, it immediately quits and this message appears:
"The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-200)."
ALSO, the sound on my computer has stopped working, with the exception of the start-up chime. Both of these problems started to occur at the same time (and out of nowhere as I've done nothing different or unusual.)
I have run Diskwarrior (which fixed a bunch of other files and directories!) and have also run the MAC Disc Repair successfully. I have also deleted and reinstalled iTunes three times. However, I still get the same error message and no sound (except for start-up). All of my other programs work fine.
I'm frustrated and out of ideas! Help please!
    Thank you,
    Patty

    MAC G5 Dual 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Error code -200 means:
noHardware - Required sound hardware not available [no hardware support for the specified synthesizer]
The hardware still works, as you wrote "the sound on my computer has stopped working, with the exception of the start-up chime. "
I'm no expert on these kind of problems, but it looks to me, a driver is missing or corrupted.
You could try to fix it by (re-)running the latest OS X 10.4.6 combo-update.
    This will sometimes fix problems.
If that fails, you might have to do an Archive and Install. More hints about that feature here
Before doing all that, it could be wise to post a question in the Using Mac OS X Tiger forum.
There are some very knowledgeable people answering questions there.
Maybe someone has a simple solution.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes Not Working (Unknown Error -200)

After a power outage I rebooted my computer and clicked the iTunes icon. An error box appeared reading "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred. (-200)"
I then downloaded the latest version of iTunes (7.1.1.5) and tried reinstalling but a little after half way through the installation another error came up. It said "Error writing to file C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.Resources\zh_CN.lproj\iPodServiceLocalized.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory."
Please help, I desperatly need my iTunes :[.

hmmmm. the first one (the -200) is typically caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (on 7.0.2.16 and higher versions, it shows up as an "itunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration" message.)
but the second one is a problem with a language resource amongst your itunes program files.
those are typically caused by damaged files, and damaged files can also cause QuickTime problems. so first let's try running a chkdsk over your C: drive.
for instructions (and/or guided help) see:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? if so, does the itunes 7.1.1.5 install go through properly? if so, does iTunes launch properly, or do you start getting an "audio configuration" message when you try to launch it?

  • Downladed ituens 7 but unknown error -200 pops up when i click on it?

I downloaded itunes 7 recently but when i click on it it comes up with "unknown error occured -200".
What can i do to prevent this and enter itunes?

I have a very similar problem with iTunes 7.
I downloaded it a few days ago and everything was working fine until this morning when I got an error message:
"The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (0x666D743F)."
Since then I have tried reinstalling it but that didn't help either. Just incase it helps, I have an iPod Nano (software version 1.2) which was also working fine with iTunes 7 until today.
    Any help greatfully accepted!

    Hello ArtyJP,
You can give this a shot to correct the permissions on your computer. I know you have Windows 8, the Windows 7 will still get you in the right place.

My Itunes8 was working just fine and then all of a sudden i kept getting "The itunes applications could not be opened. An unknown error occured (-50)." i tried repairing the program, uninstalling it and then reinstalling it but i keep getting the same thing. if someone knows the solution to this please i need your help. i have no clue what this means and ive been searching the internet for days to find a solution. i need my itunes or else my ipod is useless i tell you useless.

What happens if you try to start Quicktime? iTunes cannot work if QUicktime doesn't.
If QUicktime does not launch go to your control panel and try to start QUicktime preferences. Give the text of any error message in full.
Have installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter
They are bad news for Quicktime.
If you Quicktime works normally, work through the following troubleshooting article for iTunes.

  • ITunes showing unknown error 1418 - Help!!

Ok, so I got my new 5th Generation iPod for my birthday to replace my iPod mini. I put all my old music onto it and listened to it today with no problems.
However, I'd bought 2 albums from iTunes last night and was annoyed to find that they had not synched onto the iPod.
When I got home I plugged my iPod in and it started saying "do not disconnect" straight away...when it was finished I dragged one of the albums I'd bought so that it would synch onto the iPod - this is where the problems started:
    1. It started saying that a music file on the iPod itself was corrupted and unreadable.
    2. I ejected the iPod and tried again, and again...it would always show "do not disconnect" and was untouchable in iTunes. It would still work fine when not plugged in though.
    3. When I last plugged it in iTunes claimed to not be running properly and had to be shut down. I also restarted the whole computer.
    4. I have now decided to restore the iPod to its factory settings to remedy the corrupted file situation but when the restore process is taking place a message comes up saying that the iPod cannot be restored due to an unknown error 1418.
    5. My iPod now says "do not disconnect" in an MSDOS-style screen (it's all gone black and white and fonts are smaller than usual) when it is connected and when I disconnect it it just says that it must be restored and plugged in...so it's all a viscious circle.
I'm sorry this has been so long but I wanted to include as much info as possible so that someone might help??!
    PC   Windows XP   iTunes 7.0.2.16

Having read another post with a similar issue I'm going to try to disconnect my iPod while the restore bar shows up on the screen, then reconnect it...
Does anyone have any other suggestions or tips/hints to try?
I already have tried what the site said to do re. error 1418 but nothing worked and am now getting desperate!
