'unknown error (-36)' - plz help
I got an ipod shuffle yesterday and loaded 70 songs. today i plugged it back into the computer to load another 30 songs and a message came up saying 'unknown error (-36)'. i then got another message saying 'cannot locate folder'. i restored my ipod, which didnt work. it now has no songs, and wont load any. i have windows XP, the latest ipod software, and the latest itunes. plz help

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

Thanks for the update and clarification. In researching the issue it seems that the 2003 error code may have something to do with the USB connection. I would use this section of one of the above articles:
Get help with iOS update and restore errors
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you might not be able to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, you can try different equipment:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
Try a different computer.
Solve other issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you still see the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section.
Check for hardware issues
Related errors: 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer might have a hardware issue that stops the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.

My Iphone 4 crashed yesterday after a restart and upload of OS 5.0, it will only partially sync. It's not transferring any of my music or ringtones. They still appear when I click open the sync screens on ITunes, but I don't seem to have an Ipod function and only one of my personalized ringtones transfers on the actual phone.

Ran updates on my MacBook Pro. Then I updated iTunes, iPod touch was connected at time, came up with unknown error 1602 during restore and now "iTunes could not connect to iPhone (its a ipod touch) unknown error OxE8000065. The weather application is powered by "Yahoo". It doesn't have all cities listed in the database and your city is also not listen. Therefore it's not showing your local weather. You can "ADD" a nearby location in the weather application.
For the location problem, turn the location service "OFF" & "ON". Restart your phone (by long pressing the ON & OFF button on top right & slide to tun off). Then use a WIFI connection to run the google map application and locating your position. I hope this will fix the issue. -

after a successful installation my system was working very fine ... i used the application and every thng seemed to work ok...
bt thren i restarted my pc nd this chaos started ....
first m receiving

thn a blank screen
now again 500 internal server error...
steps i performed
1-restarted db listener
2-Disabled Distributed JVM Cache by changing "LONG_RUNNING_JVM=" from "true" to "false" in the oc4j.properties.

actually i performed the installation of 12R ON MY LAPTOP...
SORRY for posting it in 11I INSTALLATION issues...
my problem was solved by this action plan...
i am writing it here for some future reference ...
open a new shell and set your apps environment
then goto following directory -------->>> cd $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME
stop this service ---->>> adopmnctl.sh stop
make a check if it is really down--------->>> ps -ef | grep <USER> grep opm (optional)
delete the following:
rm -fr $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/oacore/persistence/* (optional but it would be better if u perform it)
rm -fr $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/oafm/persistence/*
rm -fr $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/forms/persistence/*
again start the services ------>>> adopmnctl.sh start
restart your machine ....
this solution worked for my pc ...
note ** solution may differ for different users ....

Cant update my iPod - unknown error - need tecnical help!
I am using iTunes 7.0.2.16 (latest version), iPod 5th generation (software version 1.1.1), OS: Windows XP SP2.
The problem is that i cant automatically update my iPod firmware to 1.2 version. When i click to "Update" i get unknown error message (number 23). The error message is not contain information about cause of error, only that its "unknown".
I guess, its because my firmware is 1.1.1 and not 1.1.2 as its supposed to be, but i dont know.
So i hope, that you can help me to solve it without restoring my iPod (it will be big trouble with my 3000 songs..).
If someone knows where i can download 1.1.2 firmware to try with it first, pls give me the link.
Thanks for attention!My Ipod/Itunes seems to have the same problem. Downloading other things doesn't seem to matter, but I can't download the update. It always says, could not connect to the iPod update server! It says to check my connection, but I'm obviously connected to the Internet...It does that when I try to restore, or update. Any thoughts?
