Unknown error -50 (aperture photo sync issue)

OK.
iPod touch 16Gb connected to MB Pro. Aperture 1.5.x (latest).
The following happened:
1) In aperture I changed my preview for other apps jpeg quality from 6 to 10.
2) Next two times itunes tried to sync images to the touch it crashed (gave the unexpected error - report to apple crashreporter) in the "preparing images for the ipod" stage.
3) After that - it started giving unknown error -36.
So - I did a factory reset. Full reset to 1.1.2.
First sync after that it gave the "Cannot be synced - unknown error -50" at sync of photos.
Now - each time I try to sync it instantly gives the same unknown -50 error.
Now - the cable etc is OK - it all syncs fine if I turn off photo sync.
So - I am guessing that something somewhere in some disk cache or similar is probably screwed - the prepared photos - but - I have no idea where to look on disk.

OK - turns out the cache is in a directory called
iPod photo Cache

and several others.
The trick for people using aperture is that this directory is inside the aperture library file (the .aplibrary file).
Having removed this directory itunes is now regenerating the optimized photos

  • MS Project 2010 - An unknown error has occurred while syncing to a SharePoint site.

    Dear all,
I encountered a generic error when using MS Project 2010 to sync with our SharePoint 2013 on-premise. I want to clarify is it default behaviour or a bug.
When I start MS Project 2010 professional from new -> sync to Sharepoint by type in URL and the list name. I can create a new project list successfully.  I have verified the tasks are sync to the Sharepoint and I am able to see them listed on site.
After sync, I save the Ms Project document to local computer. Named test1.mpp. Then I close MS Project. Then open test1.mpp again and then sync immediately. This time an error show up:
An unknown error has occurred while syncing to a SharePoint site. Ensure the SharePoint site is running and try again
Since I didn't add anything to the mpp file, I believe it doesn't contain any invalid data blocking the sync. What would be the problem? Thanks.
    Mark

No, I didn't. I just fill the site path like:
    http://sharepoint.com/sites/Project/
    and then the List field:
    ProjectA
I want to clarify the sequence should be:
After sync, I save the Ms Project document to local computer. Named test1.mpp. Then I close MS Project. Then open test1.mpp again and then sync immediately. Then error occur.

  • Help please:How do I solve "Unknown Error -53 Can't Sync (My) Ipod"

my Laptop was stolen.. it had my iTunes on it.. I have another computer so I down load iTunes but it does not seem to want to recognise my iPod saying "Unknown error -53 Can't Sync (My) iPod. Help appreciated. Friendly shake hands. R

Thank you, but I did that. I de-selected and then re-selected but because the 13019 still won't allow the sync, all it did was completely delete everything on my Ipod!  I now have no songs on my Ipod when at least before, I had all my songs but the new 12 songs!  I'm freaking!

  • More Aperture/iPad syncing issues

Each time I create a new project or album in Aperture, I have trouble getting the images to the iPad when I sync. I sometimes need to sync several times until the images are recognized and imported to iPad. I do have the albums designated manually, rather than all, which means I have to sync and then sync again after I check the checkbox for the new album. I understand that, but sometimes I have to go back into Aperture to make sure the previews are updated. If I choose to update the previews for a project, Aperture will usually tell me that they're already up to date, but often they will not show up on the iPad, even after I check the appropriate box for the album in iTunes. Sometimes I get good results if I delete the previews and regenerate them in Aperture.
The second problem is the sort order. Even if I have "sort by filename" selected in Aperture, they do not show up in this order on the iPad--despite what the support article says about this. They appear to only show up in Date order. I've tried repeatedly resetting the sort order, but it does not change on the iPad. Sometimes I have to delete the album from the iPad, (uncheck the album in iTunes and sync again), then recheck it and sync yet another time. This does not always work, however.
It is very frustrating. The interface between Aperture and the iPad is very wonky. I often have to sync repeatedly, just to get the photos on the iPad and even then they're usually in the wrong order.
Aperture appears to have two types of previews: "previews" and "sharing previews," but "sharing previews" don't seem to appear in the documentation. I've noticed that, even when Aperture says the previews are up to date, when I exit the program, it will sometimes (but, maddeningly, not always), give the message, "updating sharing previews" before quitting. I cannot figure out how to force this, however. Sometimes opening and closing Aperture several times will cause it to do this, but I can't be sure.
iTunes seems to have its own process in which it "optimizes" images for importing to the iPad. Like Aperture's mysterious "sharing previews," "optimizing" does not show up in the iTunes documentation or help files.
This process either needs to be improved, or at least documented so users can understand how to avoid these problems.

    1. Some people have reported slow syncing with anything but the iPad's own USB cable (e.g. using a US cable from an iPhone/iPod). Try different cables
    2. More work - disable iTunes syncing completely, then re-enable a bit at a time, e.g. one movie at a time, one playlist at a time, one photo album at a time. There are periodic reports of syncing issues caused by a bit of media that's been corrupted, and this (tedious) approach allows you to identify where the problem might be.
    3. If that fails, do a clean restore back to factory settings, then progressively re-enable syncing as above.
    Hope this helps

  • Ipad2 photos sync issue ios8.1.1

I have an 64GB iPad2.  I normally sync my photos from iTunes on my PC. I have about 27,000 photos.  My iPad was experiencing slowness issues since upgrading to iOS8.1.  Today I updated to 8.1.1.
Photo sync from my PC is not working correctly.
It creates the required folders, but the content is empty.
I've closed all apps on the iPad, shut it down, rebooted.
    I've rebooted the PC.
I've unchecked all the selected folders to sync.  It successfully deleted all photos. (grrrrr)
I've tried changing the selected directory in iTunes from which to sync on the PC to one that only has a 1000 or so photos.
It creates the directory on the PC, but it's empty.
I get en error message "The iPad "XXXX's iPad" could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish."
Ideas?  If I go to the Genius bar, I won't have my PC.

I assume that you mean that the photo folders sync to the iPad but there is nothing in the folders.

That is how it is supposed to work. But I think that you know that. Surely you didn't expect to sync empty folders and have photos appear on the iPad if they were not in the folders that you synced. Maybe I am missing something and if I am please clarify for me.
I've tried changing the selected directory in iTunes from which to sync on the PC to one that only has a 1000 or so photos.
It creates the directory on the PC, but it's empty.
Once again, I assume that you mean that you created another folder of photos with 1000 or so photos in it. If you created another photos folder, the photos have to reside in that folder or there is nothing to sync. this could be another case where I am misunderstanding ....
I get en error message "The iPad "XXXX's iPad" could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish."
Ideas?  If I go to the Genius bar, I won't have my PC.
Have you tried quitting iTunes, rebooting your PC and then reset the iPad and try again - after you get this message? Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

  • Firefox sync gives me an unknown error when attempting to sync.

I am trying to sync Firefox 4 between two different windows machines. I set up a sync account on one, and then add the other computer as another device. As many times as I try this, only one computer will sync, and the other give me the error: Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action. I have had no luck resolving this and would love some advice.

I have the same issue with the nightly and aurora versions. Firefox 11 works fine.

  • Keep getting "Unknown Error (-4)" messages when syncing

    Hi all,
Last night I did a completely fresh reinstall of Leopard on my MBP, and ever since then I have not been able to sync my iPhone applications, or install the new ATT carrier update. Each time I try either of those, or performing a Restore, I get a message stating an unknown error occured (-4). I'm logged into my iTunes acocunt on both the phone and laptop, and I tried resetting the phone from it's system settings already with no luck.
    Anyone else seeing this issue?

Took it to the Apple store where it was restored successfully, but upon getting home I'm still having this issue trying to add my applications back to the phone. I have redownloaded them both on my laptop, and on the iPhone, and I still cannot sync them. Ditto on the ATT carrier update, that still will not work without this (-4) error.

  • IOS 5 Photo Syncing Issues

I've been having major problems with syncing photos to my iPhone after installing iOS5 and it performed a factory reset. I have a lot (40k+) of photos and whenever I tried to sync them after the restore it would give me the unhelpful 'the sync failed to finish' or 'waiting for items to copy' error message. For three days and six or so hours I tried every combination of factory resets, backup deletions, reinstalls and restarts I could think of to no avail untill eventually I worked out a (very lengthy) solution. I have no idea why it works but hopefully it will be of use to you, since a lot of people are having a similar problem.
Sync the phone with no photos, music or video (just apps) and back it up
Delete the phtoto cache and all other backups
Split your albums up on windows explorer or iPhoto so that each one has less than 2500 photos in it
Factory restore your iphone, sync nothing but apps, uncheck wi-fi sync and check 'manually manage music and video'. in the summary tab
As soon as the phone restores, go through the setup screens, set it to airplane mode, check a single photo album on the photos tab on itunes and sync
Wait - iTunes will normally hang up on the 'waiting for items to copy' screeen for a few minutes on each album (sometimes as long as half an hour) but it normally will begin to copy the photos VERY SLOWLY
When your first album has finished syncing, disconnect the phone and restart your computer
Repeat 5 and 6 for all other albums
This method has worked for me and so far I have ~20k photos and all my apps on my iPhone - but apple really needs to come up with a bug fix. Does this method work for you? Feedback would be useful.

Wow, that's quite a workaround! Thanks for all that time and effort. I'm personally not really prepared to do all that as of now but it's great to know about.
My problems with photo syncing are similar, but I've never gotten a failed sync message. It just appears that certain albums don't copy over fully, and some not at all -- completely empty.
This really does need to be fixed. Are there others out there who are experiencing this problem?

  • Unknown error 0xE00000C & 0xE00400C when syncing apps

I'm trying to resync older version apps for my itouch 2gen from itunes but I get a unknown error 0xE00000C & 0xE00400C
My parents told me about how the older version WPTV news app was bugged or hacked (not sure which), I deleted and when I go to another app, it completely freeze my ipod. Then when trying to turn it off and back on, I get this iTunes logo /w iPod Plug on screen and somehow, I seen that error before but I waited overnight, same thing.
I just got done restoring the ipod but when syncing the older apps, I get that error on most of my apps I use alot:

  • Unknown error when trying to sync from itunes to ipod

Does anyone know what the problem is? Everytime I try to sync music onto my 4GB ipod nano, a message pops up saying:
Attempting to copy to the disk [ipod name] failed. An unknown error occured (-54).
I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I restored my ipod and reset my ipod, but I still don't know what is wrong.

Thanks for you suggestion roaminggnome. I tried typing in 13019 like you said and it gave me a few options to try and fix it but none of them worked (of course). I fiddled around with it for a while some more on my own and some how got it to work again, lol. Thanks again though for offering a solution.

  • IOS5 photo sync issue

In iOS5, after syncing photos from the computer, there appear two files with the same contents in the device, one is photo library, and the other has the same name as that in my computer. I turned off the function of photo streaming, and tried several times, but still 2 files with the same photos.
    How to solve it?

I can't sync photos, music or videos - somebody please help!
All items sync great with iTunes 7.3 including
calendar, music, video, etc. Everything but Photos.
I can't seem to get one single photo synced up with
the iPhone. I've tried resizing pictures down
smaller but that still doesn't work. Anyone else
    have the issue?

  • ITunes, iPhoto & Aperture - odd sync issue

    Hi all,
I am a user of both iPhoto & Aperture, with unified photo library, and occasionally sync one or more events to my iPhone (rather than syncing all photos automatically).
I've noticed recently a rather odd issue, where iTunes does not seem to be "seeing" my iPhoto library. If I set Aperture to the source, then all my events/projects show up correctly. If I choose iPhoto as the source, 0 photos .
Opening the library directly in either iPhoto or Aperture works just fine - all events and photos present and correct - so the issue appears to be around the link from iPhoto to iTunes - weirdly, given the unified library, Aperture to iTunes seems to be fine.
Whilst I _could_ just sync to Aperture, a) the error bugs me , and I'd like to sort it out, and b) iPhoto is a better manager of events (chronological order etc) so I would prefer to use iPhoto to sync to iPhone, iPad etc.
I'm running Mountain Lion and both Photo apps are up to date. Hopefully some kind soul can assist!?

    Hey Aljrob_UK
Thanks for the question. It sounds like there may be a permissions issue with your iPhoto library, let's see if repairing this will help to resolve the issue. See the additional information section of the following article:
Important: Please backup your library first (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2504)
iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638
    Additional Information
iPhoto 9.3 and later introduces a new Library First Aid dialog in place of the previous rebuild options.
If Repair Permissions does not resolve your issue, attempt Repair Database and/after Rebuild Database. You can skip the Rebuild Thumbnails.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Itunes photo syncing issues between laptop/ipad

I'm syncing photos on my laptop to my new ipad2 via itunes and randomly in each folder around 10% of the photos always come out corrupted with horizontal lines or even half the picture missing.  Have tried reinstalling itunes etc but still get random corruption issues.  Have managed to successfully import the photos if I save them to my camera and import via the camera connection kit but don't want to do that for the thousands of photos I have on my laptop.  Any ideas?

I have now managed to find the cause of the problem.  All down to a conflict issue between itunes and Zonealarm.  The solution is to go into program access in Zonealarm and ensure that the iTunes Photo Processor program is set to NO ENFORCEMENT for trust level.   An alternative is to temporarily stop Zonealarm, sync and then turn on Zonealarm back on.  If you don't do this, a number of the photos (and it appears to be at random) become corrupted.  Hope this helps anyone else running Zonealarm.
