Unknown error (-50) in itunes store

I cannot connect with itunes 9.0 in itunes store.
What mean the error (-50) ?

I just tried this posted on another forum page and it worked!!!
Well this is THE FIX everyone! (supplied last year by smeone else under this topic, but easily missed.)
1. Open iTunes
2. Click on Edit/Preferences
3. Under Parental Controls, DISABLE access to the iTunes Store
4. Then check the box to ALLOW access to iTunes U
5. Try to log in to the store again through iTunes - it will send you
direct to the iTunes U store
6. Repeat step 2
7. Under Parental Controls nor ENABLE access to the iTunes Store.
Voila! All fixed. Obviously an error in the latest release of iTunes, but getting Apple to fix it seems an impossibility!

Make sure you are using the most recent version of iTunes and QuickTime. They both can be downloaded free of charge.

  • When I attempt to upgrade an app in iTunes for windows, I get an error:  "Could not purchase.  An unknown error occurred (11111).  There was an error in the iTunes Store.  Please try again later"

When I attempt to upgrade an app in iTunes for windows, I get an error:  "Could not purchase.  An unknown error occurred (11111).  There was an error in the iTunes Store.  Please try again later"
I am running the latest iTunes 10.7.0.21 for Windows 7.
This error occurs if I try to either update the app or if I delete it and attempt to redownload.
I have an iPhone and an iPad.  I am unable to update the apps or install the apps from within the App Store on iOS.
I do not have an AOL ID, as is a common issue with this type of error.
From what I can tell, my Apple ID account seems fine.  I logged in, changed some information, and ensured my credit card is valid and updated.
I can download new apps just fine.  I am unable to update or install apps I have purchased in the past.

After 30 minutes this morning, no resolution. Then another tech support call this afternoon, 15 minutes in, was escalated to a Tier 2 (Senior) advisor. He said something similar to the above ("this is one of the strangest things I've seen"). He was chatted with iTunes guys and took all my info into the case and was escalating it over to engineering. Said they would be in touch.
    So, no solution...yet.
    Just to clarify:
iTunes on Windows7: trying to update an existing app, or re-download a prior app, gives the (11111) error. Downloading a new (free) app worked fine.
App Store on iPhone5, iOS 6.0.1: click on UPDATE, switches to INSTALLING...for a second, then switches back to UPDATE. No error message (and nothing in Diagnostic data).
App Store on iPad 3, iOS 6.0.1: same as iPhone 5.
    Definitely account related.
I have cleared the store cache, signed out and back in, deleted the credit card data, and re-added, rebooting PC and iPhone...nothing works.
Will post if I hear anything back from Apple.

Try reset winsock and see if error will go away.
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Can anyone help solve this problem?

I've done a search on here and haven't found any solutions posted for it for windows computers. You could try posting in the iTunes For Windows forum and see if you get any suggestions in there (are you able to download other items from the store e.g. a free app ?) - I use a Mac, the only things that I could think of to suggest trying is see if you get the same error on a different iTunes library :
    creating and/or opening a different iTunes library : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589
or using a different user account on your computer in case it's a problem with that user account.
But you may want to try the iTunes For Windows forum first, apart from anything else you are likely to get better help for the above

    Help!!
Could Not complete your Itunes Store request.  An unknown error ocurred (-48018)
there was an error in the itunes store. please try again later

I've been getting errors all morning when trying to connect to thestore either from my Apple TV to watch purchased TV shows, or from my iPhone to redeem gift cards - it would allow me to enter the voucher code but gave no confirmation, but then rejected a second attempt to enter the code - but wouldn't allow me to view my account to confirm my balance.
Connected OK from iTunes on my MacBook Air, the gift cards hadn't been credited, but I was able to add them from there.
    Just keep trying?

  • I got unknown error 21 on iTunes when I try to restore my Ipad2

It all started when I was deleting an e-mail (from an uknown adress), then Mail was closing and I went back to my homescreen.
Suddenly I see that all my purchased apps where gone, only shortcuts to Safari and the original Apple programs were in place.
Then I tried to push the home and the power button to restart the device, it turns back on again without any affect.
I connect my Ipad to the Mac Pro running OSX 10.6.8. and open iTunes, then I tried to recover a safety copy from the list, without any luck.
The result of this ends with a device showing just the Apple logo a while, and then the iTunes wire.
The problem with showing "unknown error 21" in iTunes seems to be a usual Windows third-party issue, but I`m running it on a Mac.
I tried all basic steps in the Apple support, but it still came back with the message: "detected iPad in recovery mode...you will have to restore it before it can be used with iTune", and then a message that tells me the Ipad device can not me restored, unknown error 21.
I have no firewall, the time is correct, I`m running the latest iTunes version 10.6.1, I can connect to the iTunes store and it looks okey.
I connected the original 30-pins connector on the back, unpluging all other USB-devices, I checked this and several other things, but I just can`t get it to work.
Before it turned into this "Brick" I noticed that the indication on used memory for programs (green) went down to zero,
and "other" (yellow) were the biggest area ( app.14 GB )

  • I keep getting the follow error messages when I try to sign into iTunes store or redeem a song code: We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again

I keep getting the following error messages on my Mac when I try to redeem a song code: "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again later."  and then, "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50)."

    Hello, constance132.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I could recommend when receiving error -50.
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
    Windows Vista:
  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows 7:
  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows XP:
  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.
