Unknown error -69 when copying music to I-tunes

Does anyone know what Unknown error -69 is? I have searched the net and can't seem to see threads for this error.
I have a 30GB Ipod; I can only copy about 6GB. Initially I was getting an error about bad sectors were found so I done a chkdsk on the disk and it found system errors and says it fixed them. So when I go to copy I just get this error. Now I have restored/reset a couple of times; I have been using my ipod like this for a while now but want to see if there is a way around fixing this before I have to get a new one.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers

To be of any assistance,
Which version of iTunes are you using?
What is your iPod firmware/software version as shown in the iTunes summary page?
Error -69 occurs when iTunes tries to send files to your iPod, but a file (or files) is unusable, if you have error 50 this time also then it is the iTunes needs to be re-install. And your iPod firmware need to be updated.
I can suggest you delete the file that is causing the problem, but most likely it is all the files, due to the iPod firmware or iTunes mobile device driver is somehow corrupted, due to a partially aborted installation, or Restore.
So try this.
Can you do a Hard Reset  as below
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Then Re-install your iTunes
Put the iPod in Disk Mode
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363?viewlocale=en_US
Connect the iPod to a High Power USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC, and never use the USB Hub.
Disconnect all other USB devices, except the mouse and keyboard.
Select the iPod in the Device pane of iTunes, and click Check for Updates
If it says "Software is uptodate", Press Restore just the same, although this will erase your iPod.
Good Luck!

hmmmm. the rules for that are different depending on whether you're trying to get to music or videos.

  • Unknown Error -150000 when streaming music to Apple TV from an iMac

    Hi,
I have a -150000 unknown error on my iMac G4 (ITUNES SERVER) when I try to stream music to my Apple TV over WI FI. If I use an ethernet connection - there is no problem. I can also select and play the iMac's music VIA the Apple TV interface using WI FI.
    To summarise
iTunes Server to Apple TV via WI FI -- Does not work
Apple TV to iTunes Server via WI FI -- Works
iTunes to Apple TV via Ethernet -- Works
A MacBook to Apple TV via WI FI/ Ethernet -- Works
A Macbook to the iTunes server to Apple TV via WI FI -- Works
so I can select and play music from my iTunes server via my MacBook and play it on the Apple TV, I just can't do it directly. I have done all the patches etc. All macs have iTunes 8.02 Leopard 10.56 ( they recently been updated, but the problem existed prior to updates ) and Apple TV is now on 2.1 .. it has been on 2.3 without success.
I do think there is something within the iTunes Server settings.
This iMac (iTunes Server) has over 80 DAYS of music -- some 15,000 long classical music pieces. The music is stored on an external 3TB hard drive. This is only about a 3rd of my collection. I still need to add more. Would this be a problem?
Also most of the music was imported from an iTunes library that was originally created using iTunes 7.0. I did not have a problem then. I am tempted to go back to iTunes 7.0, but I think this will not be possible.
Many thanks in advance for any help and / or suggestions

I believe this issue has to do with firewall settings. I set up my ATV on Thursday. After I finally got around the port 3689 error (by taking my firewalls down), everything, including AirTunes, was working. However, when I re-established the firewall by customizing the port permissions, AirTunes would not work. Today I took the firewall down again and amazingly AirTunes worked. The fix - I had to open the firewall software and allow iTunes to allow iTunes.exe to allow outgoing TCP/UDP traffic.
Hope this helps. I am a PC user, but perhaps this will point MAC users in the right direction as well. Good Luck.

  • I receive an unknown error (-50) when copying CDs.

It copies 1 or 2 tracks then stops with this error. I have Windows Vista Home Premium and the latest version of iTunes. I have tried uninstalling as per http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 and then reinstalling but it doesn't help. It is really starting to irritate me as I have a backlog of CDs to copy onto my iPod and iPad.
    Can anyone help?
    Regards,
    Kevin.

I have a 30g Video Ipod and I have been having
problems with it trying to syn up. I downloaded the
Vista update for it and still no syncing but when I
tried to update the Ipod I got this message.
Ipod cannot be updated. An unknown error occured
    (-50).
If anyone knows what this means and possibly could
give me help with it, I would appreciate it very much.
Same thing happened to me last night. It was right after I DL the update given by apple for Windows Vista. I just closed everything restarted my computer and tried again and it worked. Just that now all my Album Artwork is messed up. I'm listening to Fall Out Boy and I get the artwork for Grey's Anatomy Podcast. Weird. I have no idea how to fix it either.

  • Error Message when copying music files to Nano

When copying an album to the Nano, I receive and error message with 4 songs left to copy off of the album. Error states: Attempting to copy to the disk "IPOD" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to. With 4 songs left to copy
I have only used approx. 344.8 MB of memory. I tried resetting the Nano and then also deleting album and recopying and the same files back. Nothing seems to work, please help!

If you want to use large files you have to reformat it. It will erase any data that is on the drive, If the drive will be used only with OSX, format it as Mac Extended (HFS+) Journaled with the GUID partition table.
Start Disk Utility (Utilities Folder). Select the drive in the left column (be sure to select the drive, all the way at the left, not the volume indented below it). Select the "Partition" tab. Set "Volume Scheme" to "1 Partition". Click the "Options" button. Select "GUID Partition Table". Click the "OK" button. Enter the volume name and click the "Apply" button.

  • ITunes (unknown error -54) when syncing music to iPhone 4s. Help!

I just got a 64 GB iPhone 4s and I'm having trouble syncing my music library. A few artist into syncing and get an error message saying a certain song could not sync (unknown error -54). Then the rest of my library does not sync to my iPhone. I deleted all the songs that made it into my iPhone and I tried syncing my library again. I got the same unknown error -54 message again but it's another song that won't sync. The funny thing is that the previous song that wouldn't sync made it into my iPhone. Because of that I think it's an iTunes problem and not the file. Please help! Very frustrating!

I stopped using iCloud and started to sync everything to my MacBook Pro. I had also done a restore just to make sure it was being ungunked. Everything works perfectly now. I'm back to using my laptop iTunes for backing up my iPhone 4S

  • Error message when copying a music file from PC to BB

I get the following error message when copying a music file. Also I cannot delete any files.
"Cannot copy. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

Hello lcoyote and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Do you get the error on all media files or just one in particular? From where are you trying to delete files?
    Is your media card formatted?
If you aren't able to add/remove media, try formatting the card as shown in KB10527
If you currently have photos on the card, try to move them to the computer first as formatting the card will delete all data.
Let me know how you make out
    Thanks!

  • Unknown Error (-48) when I try to sync my iPod

I have started to get an Unknown Error (-48) when I try to sync my iPod to my iTunes music Library, this problem only occurred when I upgraded to iTunes 7 and upgraded to the latest version of the iPod software.
    Any suggestions?

At the moment there seems to be no permanent fix for this. This is the workaround I'm currently using until a fix comes along.
Set up iTunes "not" to open when you connect the iPod.
Enable Disk Use on the iPod
Eject the iPod and shut down iTunes
Reconnect the iPod and open Disk Utility
Click on your iPod in the Utility pane and choose Repair Disk which will find and fix a number of errors.
Close Disk Utility and open iTunes and your iPod should connect and update as usual.
Keep the settings above and each time you connect the iPod to update it run Disk Utility repair as above before opening iTunes. It's far from being a acceptable answer but until a permanent one comes along I've found that it works for me. I've tried the Apple advice of erasing the iPod in Disk Utility and restoring it in iTunes but found it only worked for a while before the error came back.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

  • Unknown error message when trying to update or download Apps?

Hello!  I have had no problems till now, and have been happily downloading and updating for 9 months.  Yesterday I received an unknown error message when I tried to update an App on my IPad 2, and have since been unable to update or download. Have tried closing down and restarting, changing password, and usual things.  Any good ideas? Does this happen often?  Everything is working, I simply can't download from App store.  Thank you for any helpful suggestions.

  • Why does an unknown error occur when I try to save a document as a word file?

why does an unknown error occur when I try to save a document as a Word file?

    Hi Judy,
Deleting the Preferences files seems to be missing from your list.
    Quit AppleWorks,
    In the Finder, go to:
    username > Library > Preferences
    In the Preferences folder:
Locate and Delete the File com.apple.appleworks.plist
Locate and Open the Folder AppleWorks
In the AppleWorks folder, delete the following files:
    AppleWorks 6 Assistants Cache
    AppleWorks 6 Preferences
    AppleWorks 6 Translators Cache
    Optional:
    AppleWorks Button Bars
This file contains your Button Bar preferences. If you have made changes to the Button Bar, but hanve NO issues that can be traced to the Button Bar, it may be left in place.
    Regards,

Error message when copying from Acrobat Reader - any file,  any time (Win 7, Adobe many versions until recent).
Copy works, but causes a needless and useless error message that has to be clicked away every time.
This problem is published on the web for a million times without a working solution. And even in the Adobe forum no qualified answer (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/441370)
When can I expect a solution?
