Unknown error on create flash button (CS2)
I'm new on Dreamweaver! I've tried to add a flash button in a
form but it prompt a "UNKNOWN ERROR" message. Please help!!
ThankS!!
I can solve your problem easily. Don't use Flash buttons.
Ever.
Consider this -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
Especially
consider those people who are browsing from a corporate
internet where Flash
is not allowed by the IT staff.
2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
not be
spidered unless you have redundant HTML links
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
You will have
to remake those buttons.
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons - and for
these reasons,
Adobe has removed Flash buttons and Flash text from the next
version of
Dreamweaver.

Unknown error when inserting Flash text [was: Error]
When I try to insert Flash text into a document, I keep getting an error message that says "Unknown error". What should I do? I'm taking a class online and we happen to be covering this feature.
After nearly ripping my eyeballs out and chucking my laptop out the window, I finally fixed the problem!
For some reason I didn't have a CMaps folder in my Adobe - Common Files - Font folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\Reqrd\CMaps
So I made the "CMaps" folder and copied and pasted the files "Identity-H" and "Identity-V" from an "Adobe Reader" CMap folder, and now I can save text in an *.ai file with PDF Compatibility checked.
It's pretty strange Illustrator was working for 2 years without this folder, and now all the sudden it needed it. Also, this is a very obscure fix.
Hopefully the programmers at Adobe have fixed these bugs in newer versions. -
Sync Setup gives unknown error when creating account
Getting "unknown error" when trying to setup sync account. i have the latest version of firefox. i cleared the cache. I did a factory reset. none of it worked.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Hi I'm getting an Error #3343 Unknown error playing protected content videos from Vocam.

The DRM APIs initiate the workflow for playback of protected content. The runtime, through the Adobe Access module, contacts the license server. Are there any Registry keys/ Permissions / C:\Documents & Settings / Security / Applications that require All Users - Full control
any suggestions - thanks.I'm not sure what's going on here so I've forwarded this along to our DRM team. Please be aware thought that Citrix is an unsupported platform.

Solved, permission error when creating Flash Clip
My new HP PC is equipped with a device called a personal media drive (K:\). When I tried to and write to this new external drive when creating a Flash clip for the first time, I was unable to do so because I did not have permission. After much searching, I determined that this error is not an Adobe error, but rather a Windows error in Vista. I accessed the drive in explorer, right clicked on it and went to properties. By following the tabs, I was eventually able to enable sharing and grant all permissions to the drive. Once this was done, I was able to successfully render out a .flv file without no diffuculty and withut needing to restart the computer.
Please, all users, when you do eventually solve your problems, do post your results. Forums are such depressing places to visit otherwise. Registration is pretty quick and "paying it forward", is just being a good human.ChojinDSL wrote:

Dreamweaver Flash Buttons Paths
Hello all,
I am a novice site designer. My first challenge is to design a navigation bar once and used by all web pages. I built it using Flash buttons. The concept works fine in a flat file, but when I'm viewing a web page that sits in a different directory than the flash navigation buttons, the buttons point to a file in the current directory which doesn't exist. I want the buttons to still point to the flash files in the parent directory.
I'm using Dreamweaver CS2 to create my flash buttons. I'm using PHP include statements to include my flash navigation bar. When I create the php file in another directory, click on flash button, all heck breaks loose. I look at the URL and the link appends the PHP file that the flash button should be pointing to whatever directory my current web page is in.
It seems like, I should just create each button as a absolute path, http://rootdirectory.com/filename.php, but it still uses relative path when I'm looking at web page that sits in another directory and appends the navigation link to the current directory http://rootdirectory.com/currentdirectory/filename.php although it points to a link in the root or parent directory.
Do I not know how to create flash buttons using the absolute paths? If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
not be spidered
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
Adding in frames makes it even worse - you are in the deep
stuff here. Why
are you using frames?

Flash Button Navigation Issues
Hello all,

Do I not know how to create flash buttons using the absolute paths?Movie1 and Movie2 should have a name in (Properties -
Instance name).
Assuming that button on Movie1 is on the movie, not inside
the movie, that both movies are on the same timeline, and that you
want to go to Movie2 frame 5, for example.
Button on Movie1
on(release){
_root.Movie2.gotoAndStop(5);
Hope this helps. -
Are There Preset Flash Buttons In Dreamweaver CS4
I have upgraded from Dreamweaver MX to CS4 and I'm looking for preset flash buttons that I can just insert within dreamweaver and I can't find any. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? I don't know how to create flash buttons just yet and If i need to start the journey of learning how please let me know. I'm editing a site I created in MX so I want matching buttons and such lol.
There aren't any flash buttons in DWCS4 anymore see Deprecated features in this link:

hi all
i am a newbie in web development. and i found dreamweaver very useful to me. but i was dissapointed in one thing. i wanted to know how to create a flash button in dreamweaver for my new site Face Anti Wrinkle. but i couldnt find a way. and whats more disappointing is that when i searched in youtube for a tutorial i found a way to do it in CS3 but not in CS4. so please help me out someone.Apparently, in Dreamweaver CS4 they removed the option to create Flash buttons. If you want them you need to find another resource, such as CS3 or Flash, or possibly some other specialty software.

Flash Button/Extension Mgr
I just installed the adobe 1.6 extension manager for MX2004
DW. After that I downloaded a file for more flash buttons. They
appear in my flash button selection, but when I choose them and hit
apply, I get this message:
"Could not create flash button because a component of
dreamweaver is missing, please reinstall dreamweaver." The old
buttons still work without this message appearing. I have
reinstalled DW, the extension mgr, and the flash button file, to no
avail. Any Help? Why use Flash buttons at all?
> There must be a simpler solution, I hope.
As far as I know, this is the only way to do it.

Error message when inserting built in flash buttons
Anyone help point me to a solution?
Previously worked fine - but now a problem. When wanting to
either add or edit existing flash buttons, all I get is "Error
unknown" - no ref ID to help me.
In the html editor window - I can no longer see the flash
buttons. They have been replaced with the greyed flash icons. The
flash functionality has just disappeared for some reason?
I run mac os x - and have the current MX 2004 upgraded
version 7.01
I've reloaded MX 2004 - but no good.
Any ideas anyone please?
BTW - I'm not an expert by any means - but just baffled and
frustrated!Alan
Thanks for the pointer I will scan all of the code in the
morning for non-standard characters.
I do not see any with firs scan but I did change the path to
all of the files whan I moved the data to a new disc.
I went through DW and reset the paths in the site menus and
had it recreate the file map and the cache.
I did not get any errors for that process but that does not
involve the Java interpeter;-)
I will post the results later EITHER positive or negative.

Submit button - "Unknown Error" message in acrobat
I have created a fairly large form. The submit button works in designer PDF preview, but if I open the form in acrobat and press the submit button it pops up a dialogue that says "Unknown Error" and the address I am sending the XML to.
This still happens if I change the button to XML, XDP, url-enc.. etc..
I have tried making a new form (ie. small amount data to send) with the same result.
What really gets me is that the last form I made (last week) worked fine.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?I have figured this out.. kind of.
It was an XML over HTTP submit button and I was returning a php generated XML output of the posted data (so I could see it) - this works fine in LiveCycle preview, and in a web browser (acro activex), but not in Acrobat reader/pro as it's not a web browser and doesn't understand how to render the HTML/XML
This does lead me to the next question, whihc I will post seperatley as "XML submit URL response/return in acrobat" -
