Unknown error when merging files

I have encountered an unknown error when trying to combine files into a single pdf. It specifically states: "No PDF file was created because Acrobat encountered an unknown error." This is unusual as just yesterday I was able to perform this task with ease - and being able to do this task will save me hours of work time. What has been done between yesterday and today - I updated my windows 7 and maybe even updated Adobe Acrobat.9 Pro - I also deleted some malware that was unnecessary for my computer: Qwiklinx; yontoo; ... I did a restore to when this action worked but to no avail.

You're either using Acrobat (http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat) or CreatePDF (http://forums.adobe.com/community/createpdf), because you CAN'T merge files with the free Reader.

Unknown Error When Collecting Files to Copy to a New Location

Going crazy!! I'm trying to shift over and start working on a different computer but although I created my project on an external hard drive so that this move would be easy, I realised too late that my Auto-save folders were saving to the computer's Documents folder. I copied these onto the external hard drive but it still doesn't work when I open Premiere. Instead of five sequences in my project, opening it on my new computer, there only appears to be one sequence and all my bins are not the latest updated state in which they appear on my old computer.
I decided to go to the Project Manager and Collect the Files to Copy to a New Location, making sure the Project destination is on my external hard drive, however three times the copying process has stopped due to an Unknown Error. Does anyone know what this error could be?
I only have possession of the old computer for another 24 hours so if I can't find a solution I will have to lose four solid months of work.

Unknown Error when I Logging and Transfer P2 Card files in FCP 6.0.6

I have been trying for the past two week to Log and Transfer P2 files to my external hardrive using FCP 6.0.6 unsuccessfully.
Originally I tried to Log and Transfer directly from the Panasonic HPX-170 in between my shooting. The first time it was a success but from then on I always get the same Unknown Error when attempting to transfer. When I encountered the Unknown Error during the second transfer I went on to create folders with the P2 contents on my external Hard Drive.
When I drag any of the P2 folder content on the Log and Transfer window I can see all the clips. I can successfully transfer small B-roll clips I have but any big size file (all my interviews) return an Unknown Error symbol at the end of the transfer. I believe this is probably why I didn't encounter any issues during my first time.
I tried deleting the preferences in FCP and then Logging and Transfer and it works if the systems settings are set for the Mac Pro but not for the external HD. The problem is I don't have enough space on my Mac. I have cleared 45GB of space but my P2 files total 54GB. I tried the same process with a Mac Power Book with FCP 5.1.4 and again in encounter the same problem.
The external HD is a 1TB Western Digital that I have used before with FCP for editing but never before with P2 files. Its in good working order and has 79GB free space remaining. Both the camera and the P2 cards (16GB and 4GB) are also performing as expected.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Very often in the field with this camera the camera operator will delete clips from the P2 card that they just don't like. That is the beauty of this camera. But, the still for that video file (located in the CLIP folder in the CONTENTS folder)...the still that you see when you are in the P2 Import window...is not deleted. So you will see the image, and the name, but the video file would have been deleted.
What you can do it compare the file names in the VIDEO folder and CLIP folder and see if anything is missing. If something is, then you know what the problem is. You can then just import the rest a few at time, skipping that one.
ALSO...in the P2 Import window...in the P2 Browser, there is a little sprocket drop down menu. Click on that and choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN and then try importing again.
ALSO...make sure your file names aren't too long. Try shortening them and see if that works.
ALSO make sure that the folders that contain the CONTENTS folder doesn't have any odd characters like /!@#$%^&*()?.

FAT32 only allows for file sizes up to 2 gigs. And as soon as it reaches that...I would get that error. I don't know if that is why you are getting that error...but it would be easy to check. 1) are you generating a file that is over 2 gigs? 2) is your drive that you are exporting to FAT 32 (just right click the drive in My Computer and select "properties" then just look for what it says next to "file system".

I received this email from Apple and this corrected the problem for me... I only had to reset the iTunes cache
1) Open iTunes
2) At the top menu, click File > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac)
3) In the Preferences menu, click the Advanced tab
4) In the Advanced menu, you should see a button that says "Reset Cache". Please click this button.

Unkown Error When Saving File

I am in need of assistance with an issue I am having with Illustrator CS5.1.
I am working in a Windows 7 Professional 64bit environment. The machines are all similar as far as hardware specs go. 1 gen2 intel 930 w/8 gigs of 1666 ram, and 2 gen1 intel 930's with 6 gigs of 1666 ram.
I have recently installed an upgrade from CS4 design premium to CS5.5 design premium on multiple machines. I can open .pdf and AI files fine from the CS5.1 Illustrator but it gives me a message stating "Unknown Error" When trying to save to any format except template. Another thing I noticed is that when trying to set the default program to open .pdf it only gives me the option of CS4, even if I browse to the file folder that the new install of CS5.1 is in. I was under the impression that they 2 programs run side by side and the new does not overwrite the old. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

They do. Your file associations have nothing to do with that. You need to delete all of them in Windows Explorer and rebuild them from scratch manualyl. The short version is, that there are simply aalready too many contexct handlers registered and neitehr a program nor Windows itself can add any more. The rest is a bit vague - saving errors can have an infinite number of causes from permissions issues to hardware problems.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Unknown error when exporting 32-bit 5.1 wav audio

I get the ever useful "Unknown error" when exporting the audio from Premiere Pro CS6 to a 32-bit, 5.1 channel uncompressed WAV file most of the time. I was able to get it to work just fine by pasting the audio to a new project, but that isn't working anymore. I get the same error when I change it to 24-bit audio. However, when I change to 16-bit sound it works fine.
First, is there a real audible difference between 16- and 32-bit when it's all going through a WAV to AC3 converter? The AC3 files get dumped into Encore as the audio track so that I can get 5.1 sound on blu-rays instead of Encore re-encoding things.
Second, what would cause it suddenly not work, and how can I get it working again?

"Unknown error" when encoding embedded Closed captioning in premiere pro cc

I edit for a TV show and i Need closed captioning in my show. When ever i go to export the video and embed the Closed captioning in the video i get a "unknown error" when its almost done encoding. different spots every time. I never have issues when encoding videos with out Closed Captioning. I'm using a custom built 64bit pc. Does any one know how to fix this or an affordable software that can Embed fcc compliant captioning?

"Unknown Error" when attempting to publish through Muse

I recently updated my log in information to better organize log in credentials that I currently have deployed. I edited just the basic email and password as well as adding another one of my alternate email addresses. When I did that the ability to manage the site I have published through muse disappeared through the website interface. I also am receiving an "Unknown Error" when attempting to publish from the Muse application itself. Log in credentials are definitely updated and correct, just not sure where the others went.
Any help in the right direction is appreciated!

Unknown Error When Saving with CS6

I am receiving an unknown error when trying to save my document. I have tried to take off the PDF convertable part, and tried saving it legacy style, but it's still not working. I have a doc open I need to save and won't be able to shut my computer down until I fix this... What could be the issue? Is there a fix for it?

After nearly ripping my eyeballs out and chucking my laptop out the window, I finally fixed the problem!
For some reason I didn't have a CMaps folder in my Adobe - Common Files - Font folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\Reqrd\CMaps
So I made the "CMaps" folder and copied and pasted the files "Identity-H" and "Identity-V" from an "Adobe Reader" CMap folder, and now I can save text in an *.ai file with PDF Compatibility checked.
It's pretty strange Illustrator was working for 2 years without this folder, and now all the sudden it needed it. Also, this is a very obscure fix.
Hopefully the programmers at Adobe have fixed these bugs in newer versions.

Why do I get unknown error when I try and add storage to iCloud account ? I have funds in account but I do not have a credit card # on file.

This didn't solve it for me. Card details already there, and iTunes purchases working fine.
But just to be sure I' have re-entered and resaved my card info and checked, re-entered and re-checked my appleID info.
Still not working.

I have created a Crystal Report (Crystal 2008 SP1) with BEx Query (7.10) and have been able to refresh successfully when the SAP_ALL authorization is included in my user role. I don't want my end users to have SAP_ALL so I created a role and assigned the authorizations recommended in the SAP Integration Kit for BusinessObjects 3.1 Install Guide.
When I run the report as one of the users assigned to my new role I get the following error in the trace file.

I tried all the Fix Packs (ie 1.1., 1.2 and 1.3) for XI 3.1 Integration Kit to try resolving the error but it didn't work.
The same query works fine in BEx Web when running as one of the users in the new role I created for Crystal Report users.
Are there any other Authorizations that I need to include in the role?

We have been able to identify what causes the MDX driver to error and I will explain what we are trying to implement with the hierarchies.
Firstly, we are creating reports of the HR cube Mutliprovider using the SAP MDX Driver which works well when there are no authorization analysis set on the cube. But with the authorization analysis set for on 0ORGUNIT for BEx Explorer Crystal returns the MDX error.
Each of the Business Unit managers are assigned to an Organization Unit that will be used to restrict the employees that will be reported. To restrict the Managers to only see their Org Unit we have set the 0ORGUNIT object to use authorization ananlysis and a custom authorization variable to return only data for the Org Unit they belong too.
In Crystal this works well when a manager has an Org Unit that is a head department of other Org Units. This scenario will give Crystal the NodeID and Parent NodeID to create the hierarchies in the report. But when a manager does not have any other Org Units beneath there own department then Crystal doesn't have a Parent NodeID to create the Hierarchies with the NodeID. In the RFC trace I can see an error when Crystal is trying to get the Parent NodeID but the user is not authorized to that Org Unit then it throws the error.
We have got a temporary workaround which is to create the managers a dummy Org Unit below their own department. The workaround will do for now but shouldn't the MDX driver be able to recognise that it has returned the last level in the Org Unit Hierarchy and not return an error?
The customer is looking for a product fix as they believe this should be handled by the driver. Is this a bug or a limitation of the product?
