Unknown error when ripping CDs

"Unknown error" consistently appears when ripping CDs, whether or not automatic error correction is selected. Repeated attempts will eventually result in all tracks being imported to iTunes, but the error can occur as many as a half dozen times each CD. I am certain that the issue is not my CD-ROM drive, since I'm able to rip CDs with other software packages and then convert those formats (e.g., .wav) to iTurnes format--the good news is that this procedure is exceptionally fast AND reliable, but the bad news is that none of the track information is transferred automatically, and must be entered by hand....bummer.
Is this a speed issue with the CD-ROM drive? I don't think it is memory-related. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

PROBLEM SOLVED! It turns out that whenever I was trying to rip CDs, I was logged in to my ISP via VPN. It appears that there was some sort of memory issue, as I originally suspected. Without VPN, absolutely no problems, aside from being able to automatically download all the track information.

I am receiving an unknown error when trying to save my document. I have tried to take off the PDF convertable part, and tried saving it legacy style, but it's still not working. After nearly ripping my eyeballs out and chucking my laptop out the window, I finally fixed the problem!
For some reason I didn't have a CMaps folder in my Adobe - Common Files - Font folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\Reqrd\CMaps
So I made the "CMaps" folder and copied and pasted the files "Identity-H" and "Identity-V" from an "Adobe Reader" CMap folder, and now I can save text in an *.ai file with PDF Compatibility checked.
It's pretty strange Illustrator was working for 2 years without this folder, and now all the sudden it needed it. Also, this is a very obscure fix.
Hopefully the programmers at Adobe have fixed these bugs in newer versions.

Error: NFS3ERR_NOENT -   This is by design of OneFS, we coalesce files and then flush them out to disk which is why the commit time is accurate but the file is not immediately available. however when an async option is used within the mount options this should be avoided if writing asynchronously to the cluster. That error can happen for many reasons...one of the reasons that I occassionaly get it is because I try exporting a movie to an external drive that has been formated in the old FAT32 instead of the NTSF standard. FAT32 only allows for file sizes up to 2 gigs. And as soon as it reaches that...I would get that error. I don't know if that is why you are getting that error...but it would be easy to check. 1) are you generating a file that is over 2 gigs? 2) is your drive that you are exporting to FAT 32 (just right click the drive in My Computer and select "properties" then just look for what it says next to "file system".

Unknown Error when I Logging and Transfer P2 Card files in FCP 6.0.6

I have been trying for the past two week to Log and Transfer P2 files to my external hardrive using FCP 6.0.6 unsuccessfully.
Originally I tried to Log and Transfer directly from the Panasonic HPX-170 in between my shooting. The first time it was a success but from then on I always get the same Unknown Error when attempting to transfer. When I encountered the Unknown Error during the second transfer I went on to create folders with the P2 contents on my external Hard Drive.
When I drag any of the P2 folder content on the Log and Transfer window I can see all the clips. I can successfully transfer small B-roll clips I have but any big size file (all my interviews) return an Unknown Error symbol at the end of the transfer. I believe this is probably why I didn't encounter any issues during my first time.
I tried deleting the preferences in FCP and then Logging and Transfer and it works if the systems settings are set for the Mac Pro but not for the external HD. The problem is I don't have enough space on my Mac. I have cleared 45GB of space but my P2 files total 54GB. I tried the same process with a Mac Power Book with FCP 5.1.4 and again in encounter the same problem.
The external HD is a 1TB Western Digital that I have used before with FCP for editing but never before with P2 files. Its in good working order and has 79GB free space remaining. Both the camera and the P2 cards (16GB and 4GB) are also performing as expected.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Very often in the field with this camera the camera operator will delete clips from the P2 card that they just don't like. That is the beauty of this camera. But, the still for that video file (located in the CLIP folder in the CONTENTS folder)...the still that you see when you are in the P2 Import window...is not deleted. So you will see the image, and the name, but the video file would have been deleted.
What you can do it compare the file names in the VIDEO folder and CLIP folder and see if anything is missing. If something is, then you know what the problem is. You can then just import the rest a few at time, skipping that one.
ALSO...in the P2 Import window...in the P2 Browser, there is a little sprocket drop down menu. Click on that and choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN and then try importing again.
ALSO...make sure your file names aren't too long. Try shortening them and see if that works.
ALSO make sure that the folders that contain the CONTENTS folder doesn't have any odd characters like /!@#$%^&*()?.

I received this email from Apple and this corrected the problem for me... I only had to reset the iTunes cache
1) Open iTunes
2) At the top menu, click File > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac)
3) In the Preferences menu, click the Advanced tab
4) In the Advanced menu, you should see a button that says "Reset Cache". Please click this button.

Unknown error when merging files

I have encountered an unknown error when trying to combine files into a single pdf. It specifically states: "No PDF file was created because Acrobat encountered an unknown error." This is unusual as just yesterday I was able to perform this task with ease - and being able to do this task will save me hours of work time. What has been done between yesterday and today - I updated my windows 7 and maybe even updated Adobe Acrobat.9 Pro - I also deleted some malware that was unnecessary for my computer: Qwiklinx; yontoo; ... I did a restore to when this action worked but to no avail.

Same deal for me. I found an answer at ipadforums.com that fixed it for me. Go to settings, click on store, click on your user Id, sign out, and then sign back in. Hopefully it works for you too.
