Unknown icon on Add-on Bar

Hi,
Recently an icon has appeared on my Add-on Bar (a blue circle with a white 'i' (like an information i)) and it leads to this website:
http://petzichen.de.gg/?ref=quicklaunch
It doesn't open anything. The main title is PEOPLEPOINT and it appears to be a German website and I have no idea where it came from, probably from something I downloaded I guess.
Anyway, this thing is in all my versions of Firefox and I want rid of it.
Any help gratefully appreciated.
Cheers,
Keith

hello, please have a look through all of your presently installed extensions in tools > addons > extensions and remove all suspicious entries (toolbars, addons that you have not installed intentionally or don't know what they are for, etc.).
also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and do a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and/or a different tool like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes].

  • Move or drag icons from Add-on bar to navigation bar or somewhere else

How can I move or drag icons from Add-on bar to navigation bar or somewhere else?
I want close my Add-on bar that looks not so handsome and move its app icons to tab bar or etc. can I do this and if yes how?
    Thanks.

I think I figured this out. Got to the toolbar that you want to pull these icons to and right click on an open space and select "customize". This will then open that box which contains icons that you can choose from to drag to that bar. Now look at the icons on your add-on bar and drag the ones that you want to that box vs directly to the toolbar. You can now drag those icons from the box to the toolbar. I did it with two extension icons that I wanted up top because having it on that stupid looking toolbar at the bottom looks lame. At least it does to me:)

  • Unknown icon in top menu bar

I discovered an unknown icon in my top menu bar. It is a blue "S" with a small drawn picture of a guy with brown hair, facing left, in front of it.
When clicked, it performs no action, it is just sitting there, apparently doing nothing. I cannot seem to find a way to get rid of it, nor does it show any pop-up message. Anybody got ideas?

I have tried it wih AppZapper and also zapped the last 4 apps I installed . No effect on the icon. The S behind the guy's drawing goes dark blue at startup, and then slightly transparent when fully started. It looks like some activity, but no clue as to what it is. It looks like a virus or something.
Only thing I can think of is the installation of a Samsung printer driver...

  • Unknown icon on the status bar in OsX.

Anyone know what icon this is? I can't click it and can't find a way to remove it... no programs in the login items on my user account seems to have anything with it to do. The most curious thing is that nothing happens when i click (both left and right) on the icon.

That icon is for the Smart Panel software installed with a Samsung printer. ML-xxxx.
You should be able to find it in your login items in Preferences>accounts.
    Cheers
The item in the login list is SPanel.

  • Unknown icon in menu bar

I have an unknown icon in my menu bar. Ir It looks like two long, downward pointing triangles with a smaller triangle pointing up in the middle. The number 1 appears just to the right of the icon. When I mouse over it, I get the beachball spinning cursor, so I can't find out what it really is.

I think the problem is in the menubar, not the dock.
    Some things to consider trying:
What happens when you restart your computer? Same again?
What happens if you quit SystemUIServer from Activity Monitor?
(It will relaunch, but maybe without the problem icon.)
You could try trashing the SystemUIServer preferences in your home directory/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and then restarting SystemUIServer from Activity Monitor.

  • How do I add the Displays icon to the Menu Bar?

In prior OS on my iMac, I was able to add the Display icon to the Menu Bar, making it a quick fix to adjust the resolution.  That option no longer appears in the Display section of System Preferences.  I am using multiple displays.  Could that make any difference?  Any suggestions?

  • How can I permanently prevent the Reminder Fox icon (in the Add-on Bar) and the Add-on Bar from showing?

Installed: Firefox 27. ReminderFox 2.1.4. Windows XP Professional
Since ReminderFox 2.1.4 was installed, I have deselected the 'Status/Add-on Bar Display 'Bow' and text on status bar' numerous times, but the setting never takes effect even after pressing the Apply and OK buttons.
The Add-on Bar, which has always been deselected from the View > Toolbars menu, shows as selected in the menu, and even though I deselect it manually, when I close Firefox and then reopen it, it shows again as selected in the menu.
How can I permanently prevent the Reminder Fox icon (in the Add-on Bar) and the Add-on Bar from showing?

It is possible to uninstall the add on or to customize the add on toolbar from the Toolbar Customize option. To troubleshoot this try this article [[How to fix preferences that won't save]]

  • Is there any way to get the firebug icon back into the "add-on" bar - it's really bothersome to activate it through the dropdowns?

not sure when this changed but the firbug icon used to be on the bottom of the window and how the only way to activate it is through the dropdowns. This is really cumbersome and I am not sure if I just missing something to make the icon show up in the add-on bar for easy/quick access?

You can activate the old icon by setting a preference in about:config or select curstomize and move the button from the top to the bottom. See [http://blog.getfirebug.com/2011/08/03/firebug-start-button/ firebug-start-button]

  • How can I add the hard drive icon to the menu bar on a MBPr

How can I add the hard drive icon to the menu bar on a MBPr?  I have downloaded Google Earth and it wants me to drag it to the hard drive for install. I was able to display the icon but now I would like to put it on the menu bar. Is this possible? Or can I add it to the hardware section under system preferences?
I'm a new Apple user, coming out of the dark ages of a lifetime in the PC Windows world.
    Thanks

It's on your Desktop, is it not? You cannot put it on the menubar through OS X although you may find third-party utilities that will. If you want it on the Desktop:
Select Preferences from the Finder's Finder menu and check the desired boxes:
Click on the Sidebar icon in the toolbar to set what you want displayed in the Sidebar.

  • I'm having trouble dragging add-on icons to the add-on bar

I just installed Firefox 4 on my Ubuntu (10.04) and am attempting to customize my toolbars. Specifically, I want to have all my add-on icons located on the add-on bar. However, nothing happens when I try dragging them to that bar. The only thing I was able to add to the bar were a few separators. Any ideas on how to fix this?

The add-ons I installed are for weather, screenshots and Better Privacy, all of which have icons. The icons were added automatically to the address bar and I wanted to drag them down to the add-on bar on the bottom of the screen. The only one that moved was Better Privacy. I would really prefer to have all my add-ons available to me from the bottom of the screen.

  • How do I add  "little icons" to my status bar on iPad 2?

How do I add those  "little icons" to my status bar in iPad 2?

What little icons might you be talking about? If you are asking about the thumbnail views in Safari, there is nothing that you can do to change the way that Safari works on the iPad. Safari now uses tabs.
If that's not what you are asking about, please provide some details.
EDIT - OK. I get it now .....

  • I want to Remove RSS icon from the address bar when I click on My SMF Forum

I have a SMF forum when I click on the login page I see an RSS icon in the right of the address bar next to a star.
The forum opens in an RSS to subscribe, which is stupid as it is not an RSS feed, it is a forum. I want to get rid of this and do not know how to do it.

This is a feature of firefox, although it may have been removed from firefox 4beta ( at least in default set up, no idea why). The appearance of the RSS icon within the location bar is intended to inform that RSS feeds are available from the site in use. You may note that this firefox forum we are using has such an icon displaying in the location bar, that is because feeds are available allowing you to track the threads, no doubt something similar happens with the SMF forum you mention.
If it is possible to remove the RSS icon from the location bar it will certainly not be straightforward, other than by upgrading to 4beta, and that is available now, and may be run whilst the stable version firefox 3.6 is still installed on your computer. (iirc there is an add-on available to add the rss icon to Fx4)
If a post answers your enquiry, you may wish to use the button alongside it to mark it as solved.

  • Firefox loads, icon is on task bar but when clicked the graphics slide off to the right but don't fill the screen & when clicked again, falls back into the icon

Firefox, Thunderbird & Quicken were active when I loadad & ran a slot machine game. When I exited the game & clicked the icon to return Firefox to full screen, I could see the image flash off to the right side of my monitor screen and disappear. When I again clicked on the icon in the task bar, the reverse happened- the image flashed from the right down to the icon. When I hover the mouse pointer over the icon, the open screens show up with the red X to close but the same thing happens when I click on that box. The other two programs that were open while the game was active are working fine, only Firefox has been affected. I cannot open the program to access any of the menu items as I cannot get the screen image on the monitor. I did uninstall the program and reinstall a freshly downloaded copy I had to use IE, as I am now) but with the same results when I run it. I did chose to save my settings so if something has been changed there then that might be the problem.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.
