Unknown import error on Keynote

After updating Keynote on my iPad I am now not able to import the Keynote prI have been able to import no problem until I updated the Keynote.  The error says "Presentation couldn't be imported.  Unknown import error."  I have restored the iPad and updated the Mac.  Nothing is working.  I have created roughly 30 presentations on Keynote that I need to import to my iPad.  Help!

you have posted in the wrong forum, this is Keynote  Mac.
You need to post in the iOS discussion  here:  Keynote iOS

  • Keynote Unknown Import Error

When trying to import a Keynote file created on the Mac into Keynote on the Mac, you receive "Presentation Couldn't be Imported Unknown Import Error". The problem is with garbage in text pasted from web pages into text boxes in Keynote on the Mac. It displays fine on the Mac Keynote, but Keynote on the iPad will not import the file. The solution is to paste text into TextEdit, make it plain text, remove any bullets or other formatting and then paste into Keynote.

I have the same problem, but I am not pasting any text in from the web. My slides contain images and text I type in myself. I am using Keynote '09 on my Mac.
I have this problem with EVERY keynote presentation I try to import. They all work great on my Mac, and completely fail to load on my iPad. I can (sometimes) get a test file to work with a single title slide (picture and words), but the moment I add additional slides it fails.
Until this bug is fixed, the app is worthless. The point of this software is to be able to make presentations on your Mac -- if your iPad app can't load them, and can't even tell you why not, it's a complete waste of my $10. This should be a HIGH PRIORITY for Apple to fix.

  • I frequently get an "Unknown Import error" when opening an appleworks WP document with Pages.

I am trying to use Pages to convert Appleworks 6.9 WP documents - but I sometimes get an "unknown import error" dialog when I try to import the file into Pages.  What does this mean, and is there any way to get around it.  (I have not yet converted to Lion, so I can open the document in AW - but cutting and pasting into pages loses a lot of formatting so I would rather not have to go that route.)

Thanks.  I don't actually think this is generally the case, though.  (In fact, when I have had AW files that included graphics created by AW they seem to have converted smoothly).
Why can't Apple give an informative message instead of "Unknown Import Error"?

  • Import Powerpoint to Keynote '09 causes this "import error" "out of memory"

Import Powerpoint file (1.6MB - Powerpoint 97-2004) to Keynote '09 causes this message "import error" "out of memory". Import process fails. What is going on??

Hi katie, and welcome to the forums.
How large is the document meant to be and how much free space do you have on your hard drive (look at the bottom of any finder window for the amount of space available) ?
Does the file start to download, but then stop with this message, or does it appear as soon as the download begins, or, alternatively, after it has downloaded when you try to open it?
The most likely explanation is that the file itself is corrupt.
Another possibility, though, is that you have some directory corruption.
Answers to the above questions will help us work out the most likely scenario.
    Cheers

  • Word to Pages "Import Error"

I have a load of files created by drag and drop editing of pdf files into Word tables. I want to use pages to edit these ... it should be easier with services. Most of the files open fine, but a few give me an Import Error. Any ideas? There are no obbvious differences between the accepted files and the rejected files. I mightjust gie up with Pages, leaving it for the Mrs to play with ... Keynote seems nice though!
(Sorry is this has been asked and sorted, but search is off-line and I couldn't find it in the messages when I browsed)

    Julian,
Pages simply won't support a table with that many rows. If you need that many, you must use another application.
Perhaps the originator could use a tabbed list rather than a table. That's the only way you will be able to contain a list that long in Pages. You can do the conversion yourself if you open the Word document in LibreOffice, Copy the Table, Paste the Table into Numbers, Export the Numbers doc to CSV, and import to Pages. In Pages Find and Replace the Commas with Tabs.
There are probably other ways, but that's what comes to mind here.

  • "Import Error" opening password-protected .pptx document

    Hi,
It seems Keynote '08 has some difficulty opening a PowerPoint 2007 document which has been password protected. Unhelpfully, it only suggests 'import error' rather than something more meaningful.
I've saved the same document without its password, and Keynote opens it just fine (albeit with the usual warnings about missing fonts).
Is this expected behaviour, or a bug to be fixed? Password-protected documents (however weak the protection) are the norm around here, so Keynote is going to be a bit of a handbrake...
    Cheers,
    Simon

No, unless there is a third party viewed which can handle the passwords. The in-built viewer is a simple viewer and doesn't support password protected documents at all.
Have a search through the Appshopper website to see if there is something better.

  • Import Error out of Memory

I can't open a powerpoint document that I just edited on Keynot a few days ago. Now when I try, it loads for a few minutes, then gives an Import Error message, saying that it's "Out of Memory". HELP!!!

this error is usually because the file is corrupted

  • Import odp to keynote

I make a ppt file with openoffice 3.30 (export odp to ppt).
    I can't open this file with keynote 09 (5.3).
The error message  is : "erreur d'importation : mémoire saturée" " import error out of memory"
    Is there a solution ?
ppt files by office are OK

Unfortunately, no, at least, not in any elegant, or quick-and-easy way. (This is soooooo disappointing, because 25 years ago AppleWorks, also essentially an Apple product, was a truly integrated suite, in which this kind of thing was a snap.) The available options are all sloppy and tedious (cut-and-paste point by point is the most obvious) It's somewhat easier to do from WORD to PowerPoint (<http://mac2.microsoft.com/help/office/14/en-us/word/item/97009a21-e672-46cb-8 460-5c7d5e8e1f74>) - not exactly easy, but eas ier. To do this, within Pages export your Pages doc to WORD; then open the export with WORD, format it correctly, and follow the instructions on the MS site to send it to PP. Once you have that as you want it, open it in KN. Don't spend a lot of time with animations and builds in the PP doc, because they may not translate well into KN; do that stuff on the final KN.
Obviously, this is a case where I would without regret simply dispense with the Apple software altogether, and compose and present with the Microsoft apps.

  • Unknown file error, not with reference files

I get unknown file errors when trying to import quicktime movies (.mov) that are NOT reference files. I exported them using quicktime conversion and they take up several megabytes for about 10 seconds of video, and I even did cmd-j in quicktime to check. What else could be causing this? I have read write access too...
    Thanks, Zach

What codec did you use when you exported the movies?

  • Receiving an "Unknown Format" error code when submitting a form

Product: Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended
Hi, I'm trying to find out what exactly is Acrobat expecting as a return value on its form submission.
    two parts to my setup:
    1. The form. It is a garden vaiety form with a button on it which set up as follows:
Action -> Mouse Up -> Submit a form -> PDF The complete document
    2. The receiver.  This is a REST based service, expecting a HTTP Post.
For the most part, the whole setup works like a charm - the form is posted by the client, the server receives the file, creates a local copy and processes it correctly. After the post is successfully received, the last step on server is to send a reply to the client. This is where I’m getting stuck.
If I return an HttpStatusCode.Ok and a blank SOAP.Fault, I’m getting and “Unknown Format” error on the client side. I tried several different combinations/values/etc, including sending the result code only, but since I don’t know what exactly is acrobat expecting, I’m just shooting in the dark. Other error codes I’ve seen include “Invalid Server Response”.
Unfortunately I can’t find any guidance from Adobe on what Acrobat is expecting in return for the submit functionality, so any help/pointers are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks everyone!

Here is the contents of a sample FDF that will cause a popup to display when it is imported:
    %FDF-1.2
    1 0 obj
    << /FDF << /Status (Your message goes here.) >> >>
    endobj
    trailer
    << /Root 1 0 R >>
    %%EOF
Replace "Your message goes here." with the text you want to display, and don't change anything else in the sample. The value of the /Status key in the FDF is a PDF string, so it has to follow the rules described in the PDF standard (ISO 32000) for strings. So read up on it so you know how to properly escape/encode PDF strings.
Note that the server needs to set the MIME type of the response in the "Content-type" HTTP header to "application/vnd.fdf".

polygon = new PolygonData();This is the probable cause. Since newPolygon is initially false, it will not execute the if statement and polygon will not be initialised. So later in your code when you attempt to use polygon it is null. That did it.
    Thanks!

  • Unknown service: errors ?!

    Hello,
i am still getting Unknown service errors using JDeveloper 3.2.2 and Oracle 8.1.7, InfoBus java client.
    Here is a simple checklist:
    1) sess_sh - connection OK
    2) Connection manager in JDeveloper - OK
    3) deployed Application Module as EJB Session Bean - OK
    3) test AM using Local mode - OK
    4) test AM using EJB mode - OK
Now i created simple InfoBus client with SessionInfo and one RowsetInfo. It works in local mode, but it fails in EJB mode stating: Unknown service: session0.
The same problem appears using Oracle 8i CORBA server, testing OK, deployment OK, but remote mode is unavailable.
I had no such problems using JDeveloper 3.1 and Oracle 8.1.6.
Can anyone try to create simple InfoBus client for example on scott/tiger schema, and report me success/failure ? I cant find a reason why it should not work .. :(
    thanks a lot

yesterday I've came across exactly the same problem. Here are the steps how I have then created a SAP Transaction iView that works:
    <b>Create R/3 System</b>
System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape
    Select your Systems folder
