Unknown item in Finder:Shared

When I open Finder and look under "Shared", I see two items: my Time Capsule and something called "3e280e000000".
Any idea what this is? Or how I can figure it out?

Thanks - I thought of that and turned off the printer, but the device stayed in the Finder under Shared.
But just now  I shut down and re-started the computer with the printer powered down, and it disappeared from Finder:Shared.
Mystery solved.

  • "Unknowns" in the Finder SHARED folder

With the install of Leopard the Finder Sidebar displays SHARED items or sources.
I am not part of a Network and have never used SHARE features so I am ignorant about the abilities and terminology - sorry.
My issue is that unknown identities are appearing under under the SHARED heading of the sidebar. Does this mean I am 'connected' to someone or something?
Currently there are 2 computer icons, one named 'dimension', another named 'your-727a0a....'
Can anyone shed light on what this all means?

As a test, try turning off all wireless network services on your Mac. One way to do this is to create a new "Location" in Network preferences & remove every service in the left pane except Built-in Ethernet by using the "-" (minus symbol) button below the list.
Make this Location the active one & see if the "Shared" items disappear. If so, they are being detected by your Mac's wireless network capabilities. This doesn't mean they are connected, only that the Mac is aware of them.
Alternately, command click on the icon of the item in the Shared section of the sidebar (not on its name) & from the popup menu select "Get Info." What does it say?

  • Lost unknown item from Finder sidebar

    Hi,
I just accidentally deleted an item from the Finder sidebar, under the "Devices" section. I don't know what it was but I think it may be important. Is there any way to find out?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

    Hi.
Don't fret too much about it.  The Finder Sidebar is just one way to access items on your Mac.  Items can be added and removed from the sidebar all day, but they still reside on your hard drive.
To see how it works in 10.8 (not sure about 10.6)  select an item, a file on your desktop for example and press ⌘T. The item should now display on the sidebar.
To remove a sidebar item, press ⌘ while you drag the item from the sidebar and it will disappear in a puff of smoke.
    Fun, huh?
    I hope this is helpful.
EDIT - See this Apple link.

  • Unknown item in finder

    hi,
i hope that this is the correct place to post this. I hace recently noticed this in the left hand pane of the finder:/Users/anthonyryan/Desktop/whatisit.tiff
I have no idea how it got there or what it is. Any ideas?
    /Users/anthonyryan/Desktop/whatisit2.tiff

The left-hand pane of the Finder is called the sidebar. In it are shortcuts to files, folders, drives, & so on -- not the actual items. To find where the actual files & folders reside, command (or right) click on the sidebar item & select "Open Enclosing Folder" from the contextual menu.
From the name, this item appears to be an image file on the desktop of user account "anthonyryan." If this is not the name of your account, it may be that of some other account on your Mac, & you may not have access privileges to its enclosing folder.
In any case, if the file's folder can't be found, you can just drag the file shortcut off the sidebar & it will be deleted.

  • Shared Items in Finder??

    Hi
Ive noticed seven shared iMac items in Finder, Ive no idea what they r or how to remove them. See attached file. Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Baz

You do reboot or somehow restart when you are on your different network, right?
I suggest going to System Preferences (under the Apple logo in the menu bar), choose the "General" tab, and check "Close windows when quitting an application."

  • ICal holidays missing - Find Shared Calendars menu item broken

In iCal, Calendar menu, Find Shared Calendars...
This menu item takes you to a broken (as of today) link:
    http://www.apple.com/ical/library/

When clicking "Find Shared Calendars...," Leopard OS system sends IP packets to nwk-www.apple.com, 17.149.160.10.
    ・Source IP Address (private): 192.168.1.2
・Destination IP Address: 17.149.160.10 at the beginning of the session for "Find Shared Calendars..." procedure.
Leopard 10.5.1 sends a DNS query to connect 128.241.220.87 that is NTT America. Communications between Leopard and NTT America go for a while. So is Omniture's server followed. Some unique user's information is transmitted on all the servers communication.
Leopard queries DNS server (208.67.2222.222 which I set for Leopard) for metrics.apple.com (this seems to be a server for iTunes Store). What the deuce Leopard needs to call iTunes Store at the phase of finding iCal sharing calendar?
Besides, I have not been purchased any products from iTunes Store for years.
Actually, NTT America has been attempting odd access behaviors to my nodes for the recent few years before the business with Apple started whenever the hacker (I have been tracking him for three years.) is right behind me.
Now NTT America 128.241.220.87 replies to Leopard with the ACK (TCP Acknowledgement flag) bit. Next, nwk-www.apple.com (17.149.160.10) also sends Leopard a ACK bit simultaneously. Leopard answers it with the ACK. Now the DNS server replies the ten host addresses to the query of metrics.apple.com: appleglobal.112.2o7.net, 66.151.152.125, 66.151.152.126, 66.151.152.143, 128.241.21.13, 128.241.21.14, 128.241.21.15, 128.241.21.146, 128.241.21.149 and 128.241.21.163.
66.151.152.xxx = Omniture, Inc that provides web analytics solutions for internet channel monitoring. They operates the 2o7.net domains. For more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omniture
    128.241.21.xxx = NTT America, Inc. (http://www.nttamerica.com/products/index.php)
At the last session, Leopard queries "wsidecar.apple.com," but strangely the DNS server answer the canonical address which is "wsidecar.apple.com.akadns.net" with its address 17.149.160.15 but not DNS registered address 17.112.152.39.
17.149.160.15 (Apple's server but not 17.149.160.10) sends Leopard a FIN/ACK bit which means the TCP connection is closed by the server ONE-SIDEDLY despite Leopard answers to 17.149.160.15 with the acknowledgement to get ready for the US calendar sync data download start.
    Here is a nslookup wsidecar.apple.com:
    $ nslookup
    wsidecar.apple.com
    Server: 208.67.222.222
    Address: 208.67.222.222#53
    Non-authoritative answer:
    wsidecar.apple.com canonical name = wsidecar.apple.com.akadns.net.
    Name: wsidecar.apple.com.akadns.net
    Address: 17.112.152.39
CONCLUSION: There are a few inconsistencies on TCP/IP communications.
My computer: Power Mac G5 Dual 2.7 GHz/5GB DDR SDRAM
OS: Mac OS X 10.5.1 and Mac OS X 10.4.11 for dual boot.

  • Sent items from a shared mailbox are not saved with the shared mailbox

I'm experiencing an issue regarding the sent items from a shared mailbox.
The users would like the items Sent on Behalf of a shared mailbox to be saved within this shared mailbox.
At this moment, the Sent Items are saved in the users own mailbox.
We have a single Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 (Version 14.3 Build 123.4) and Users connecting the Exchange Server are using Microsoft Outlook 2007 (12.0.6680.5000) SP3 MSO.
The user is granted full access permissions on the shared mailbox, and also has "Send on Behalf" permissions on the mailbox. The mailbox is setup as an "online" mailbox, so it doesn't use cached mode.
I tried the following solutions mentioned in the various KB's and technet articles:
Configuring the "DelegateSentItemsStyle" registry setting for this user (using a GPO)
Configured the "Get-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration" cmdlet for this user
Logged on to OWA and changed the "Sent Items" settings to save the sent items in both mailboxes
None of these settings worked, not combined and neither seperately.
Is there anyone who can help me resolving this issues?
    Thanks in advance,
    Roy Schottmans

I am using a shared mailbox (with a disabled account) where I get sent items and also deleted items placed in the right folders.
I think it’s just a matter of how you configure Outlook. It works well for me in both Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, cached mode and also online mode. You can add a shared mailbox to your Outlook profile in at least two ways where one of them doesn’t work
    but the other does.
If you add the shared mailbox via the File tab/Account settings/New/ and just enter the e-mail address of the shared mailbox in the Auto Account Setup page. No name, no password, just the e-mail address and click Next and voila “Your e-mail account is successfully
configured”. After restarting Outlook you will find the shared mailbox below your own in the left pane.
If you click the inbox ones in the shared mailbox and then open a new mail you will see the shared mailbox display name in the From field. After sending the mail you will see the mail in the Sent Items folder of the shared mailbox. If you delete a mail in
the shared mailbox you will see it in Deleted items folder of the shared mailbox.
The prerequisits for this is that you have “full access” and “send as” rights of the shared mailbox.
This was accomplished without using the Set-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration command.
    We are running Exchange 2010 SP3 RU4.

  • Extra PC shown under Finder Shared

As a new Mac user and as the result of my machinations in the iMac Lion OS, I managed to wind up with an extra PC showing in the Shared section of the Finder Sidebar. I show my wife's PC and Time Capsule  but I have an extra PC named Gerry581e of which I have no idea. I would like to know how to delete it from the list.
    Thanks
    Gerry

Do you have your iMac's WiFi Password protected so a computer in an adjoining house or apartment cannot sneak onto your wireless network and share your internet bandwidth?  You need to, if not.  To remove the unknown PC from the Shared section in Finder, IF it is connected to your network currently you can Force a disconnection by left clicking on the small vertical arrow (eject) icon just to the right of the PC name in the Finder Shared column.
    Hope this helps

  • FCPX Export issue. Item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera

I am having issues with exporting a project I just shot and I missed my delivery day and am now late. Need help ASAP. I'll try to keep this as brief as possible and stick to the pertinent information.
The Shoot: -2 Panasonic HVX-200's shooting on P2 Media shooting a live event -Dumped footage onto external hard drive via Macbook Pro on set into separate folders for organization using a Panasonic P2 Reader. -All dumps were confirmed completed and all footage accounted for.
The System: -Using Final Cut Pro X 10.1.2 -Mac Pro Tower 2009 quad core running OSX Mavericks 16gb Ram -Blackmagic Intensity Pro Card
The Edit: -2 Camera multicam edit -Imported footage using import media function -Imported from external drive -(important note: a camera has never been connected to the computer for this project) -Edit is finished, about a 2hr 20 min finished sequence (live event 2 cameras switched in post, all graphics and everything is done)
The Problem: -When I go to export via the "Share" function i get an error that says "This Item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera" -Imported footage has the camera logo in the corner meaning that it is referencing camera media; yet no camera has ever been connected.
Solutions I have tried: -Re-importing media with re-import function --Says that the camera is not connected yet I never had one connected in the first place. -Deleting preferences -Biting the bullet and starting from scratch to do a re-edit -- footage will not import without referencing "camera media" -Tried importing via dragging and dropping. Says it cannot importing the following files, lists all of the XML and MXF files -Started a new event, with a new project, with a fresh import; same results -Googled this to death, no solution seems to work, but I'll try whatever I have to; client needs this ASAP.
Questions: -The external drive is not showing up as a camera, so why is it importing as camera media? -Is there a way to salvage my edit and get it exported? I have a lot of hours into this and quite frankly, no time to redo the whole thing.
    Please help!

I have had this issue too, and figured a work around.  FYI, I rebooted, tried everything imaginable, and still no luck.  I opened up iPhoto, and imported all the video clips into iPhoto.  I then took the missing video from iPhoto, copied it to my desktop.  Then I re-imported the video (same name) into Final Cut. I had to do some slight editing of the video, but everything worked fine, and allowed me to upload the video to YouTube.
Not certain it will work for others, but to recap, try to import the video into another program, then copy the missing video file to your desktop, and re-import to Final Cut.
    Hope this helps.

  • Data Load Error - Unknown Item

Under the advisement of an Oracle engineer our users were instructed to export the data from one of their DBs using "Level 0 Data", and then import the data back into the database. This process was needed in order to allow us to restore compression on our DBs as it had been lost during a patching process.
    In any event,
I've exported the data to a .txt file and now I am attempting to load the file back into the database. I am receiving the below error:
Parallel dataload Enabled: [1] block prepare threads, [1] block write threads.
Unknown Item[-1. #IND] in Data Load, [360639] Records Completed.
    Unexpected Essbase error 1003000
I did some searching on the web and located a discussion topic dealing with this type of an error. Id indicated that the error was related to an attempt to write a value to the DB that does not have a corresponding "table" in the DB. I 'kind of see' that from the error message, but I don’t understand how it could be occurring if the data export and import are occurring on the exact same application DB.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

It is a planning database, if so log on my oracle support and have a read of -
Error "1003000 Unknown Item [1.#QNAN] or [-1.#IND] in Data Load, [xxxx] Records Completed" [ID 961934.1]
Even if it is not there is invalid data that has been exported.
    Cheers

  • No Windows machines in Finder/Shared - but lots of clues

Like many, I am having problems on my home LAN getting Windows PCs to show up automatically in Finder/Shared. I've scoured these boards & many others looking for the solution but I'm still frustrated.
My current thinking is that this must somehow be related to my router. Maybe, maybe not. But here's what I do know...
    Home LAN config:
    - 3 Windows Vista PCs
    - 1 Windows XP Pro PC
    - 1 MacBook Pro
    - DSL modem (Speedstream 4200) in pass-through mode to...
    - D-Link router (DVG-5102S). It's a Telephone Adapter for AT&T Callvantage VoIP (but it's a router). The D-Link Router connects into...
    - Netgear 8-port switch (not a router). This feeds 2 of the 4 PCs (wired). It also feeds...
    - Airport Express. In bridge mode. This feeds the MBP and 2 of the other PCs
    - File sharing configured on all PCs & Mac
    - Firewalls off on PCs and Mac ("accept all incoming connections" on the MBP and Windows firewall turned off on the PCs)
    - No other software firewalls on any of the computers
    - Router & AE are on the same subnet
    Home LAN scenario:
    - All 4 of the PCs can see each other and can see the MBP when I click on "Network" in Windows. No problems
    - All 4 PCs can exchange files amongst themselves as well as with the Mac all according to the specific folder access rules on the PCs and Mac. No problems.
    - I can connect the MBP to any of the PCs by doing Finder/cmd-K and entering smb//<pcname>. I do not have to use the IP (although that works; too)
    - For what it's worth, I have iTunes on all machines (PCs & Mac) with iTunes sharing turned on. All of the machines show up to each other in iTunes automatically and can share with no issues
    What's not working:
    - None of the PCs show up automatically under Finder/Shared. Obviously, if I do cmd-K smb//<pc name> it appears there with the "eject" button next to it but as soon as I reboot, it disappears again.
I also use the MBP at work. The scenario there is brighter:
    - Shared PCs on the office LAN all automatically appear in Finder/Shared
    - Server drives automatically appear in Finder/Shared
    - All machines can read/write/share according to sharing rules set up on each machine. In other words, the office LAN works as it should
I've been puling my hair out trying to figure out the missing link (pun intended) to get things to work fully at home. Granted, I am in better shape than many with the "no Windows shared computers" on these boards - I can at least access the Windows machines 100% of the time using cmd-K smb/<pc name>. But I shouldn't have to; something's not right.
I'm not a LAN expert by any stretch. But given what I knew before & what I've learned in the last few days trying to resolve this, it seems like whatever the PCs are broadcasting across the LAN to say "hey, I'm here and I have shared folders" is being blocked before it can get to the MacBook Pro. That broadcast is clearly getting to the other PCs because they all show up under Windows. And the broadcast from the MBP is working, too because it shows up to all of the PCs.
I guess it could be the MBP "blocking" or ignoring it but I don't think so. When I take the MBP into the office, all of the PCs and servers automatically show up in Finder/Shared.
So my "smoking gun" is the D-Link router. I guess it could be something in the DSL or AE but both are in bridge mode so I doubt it.
    Help???

    Ok Ed,
I did some digging on this today, as I played with my (working) network. SMB name serving is handled by one of four mechanisms (this is from the "man" page for smbclient):
o lmhosts: Lookup an IP address in the Samba lmhosts file. If
the line in lmhosts has no name type attached to the NetBIOS
name (see the lmhosts(5) for details) then any name type
    matches for lookup.
o host: Do a standard host name to IP address resolution, using
the system /etc/hosts , NIS, or DNS lookups. This method of
name resolution is operating system dependent, for instance on
IRIX or Solaris this may be controlled by the /etc/nss-
witch.conf file). Note that this method is only used if the
NetBIOS name type being queried is the 0x20 (server) name
    type, otherwise it is ignored.
o wins: Query a name with the IP address listed in the wins
server parameter. If no WINS server has been specified this
    method will be ignored.
o bcast: Do a broadcast on each of the known local interfaces
listed in the interfaces parameter. This is the least reliable
of the name resolution methods as it depends on the target
host being on a locally connected subnet.
    Insights from this:
    1) The name of your server does matter. However I don't know what a 0x20 name type is! If you have that, then it is most likely a DNS lookup issue.
    2) Most home networks don't have a WINS server specified, so
    3) Most name resolution is being sorted out by a broadcast.
I am doing some more experiments tonight to try and replicate the issue. Insights from others are more than welcome!

  • Get-Item: Cannot find path ' ' because it does not exist. While running Powershell script.

I am trying to run a PowerShell script to upload files into a SharePoint site in an Azure environment...the script works fine on my local machine, but every time I run it in Azure (remotely), I get errors. Here is what my simple script looks like...

upload into SharePoint. When I step through the code, all the variables are holding the correct values. The $localFolderPath shows the name of files that I am attempting to upload, so it recognizes them. But once I step through this particular line of code,
    the error occurs...
    $files = ([System.IO.DirectoryInfo] (Get-Item $localFolderPath)).GetFiles()
Is this an error caused because I am remoting into the Azure environment? Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks
Update: quick thing I noticed is that these two lines of code are returning null values. Again, is this handled differently in Azure or remotely? I ask cause this is the way I know how to do this, locally.
    $docLibrary = $web.Lists[$docLibraryName]
    $files = ([System.IO.DirectoryInfo] (Get-Item $localFolderPath)).GetFiles()

"...square brackets are wildcard characters in Windows PowerShell..."
When you use cd without a parameter it uses the -Path parameter. In this case you'll have to escape the square brackets so they are not considered wildcards. Each of the commands in the first example does the exact same thing.
    cd 'Learn PowerShell `[Do Whatever`]'
cd -Path 'Learn PowerShell `[Do Whatever`]'
cd (or Set-Location) also has a literal path parameter (-LiteralPath) that does not require using an escape character (`) before each of the brackets. Hope this helps.
cd -LiteralPath 'Learn PowerShell [Do Whatever]'

  • Error message in Logic "audio configuration contains unknown items"

I am using Logic Studio with an apogee Duet and Mac Book Pro.
So far I love the apogee duet for it's simplicity and sound. I have
however started to receive this error message working with Logic Studio,
almost anytime I start a new track, add a plug-in or instrument, etc.
    "Audio Configuration contains unknown items"
It did not do this from the very beginning but started after a few
sessions. I have tried re-installing the driver disc for the Duet but it still happens.
when it does pop-up i can click the ok box and after clicking several times
it will go away and let me proceed.
    Could anyone please advise me.
    thank you very much.

Maybe this happen bacause you put many additional info in your "Aple discussion" profile about the software that you use, but we can also say you the same as Logic message:
your detailed "Audio configuration" profile info contain a "unknow item"
    Whitch is your audio interface?

Item category available is either N or L. I don't think there is any U available.
If you are referring account assignment in PR. for project it should Q, P or N. U is not for project.
What is the purpose of assigning / planning materials in your project during the initial stage?, is it for cost planning? if it is only for cost planning then follow what Virendra has recommended.

  • Audio Configuration Contains Unknown items

Has this issue been resolved ?? I have been using Logic Pro 9 for 3 years and yesterday I encounter this issue. Been searching all over the internet and seems like there are lots of questions out there but I did not see any resolution ?? Thought I will post it here. I even ran Logic Pro in 32 bit mode. I usually run in 62bit, but nothing has changed. Please help !!!

    Hey,
We have related problem...we have a project we started in Garageband '08 that developed "audio configuration is damaged" alert that leads to an ""audio configuration contains unknown items" alert after hitting ok. We have a Mackie Universal Control hooked up to our setup. We tried to load the project into Logic Studio, but the same messages pop up. In Garageband you can click past it repeatedly and get back to your project, BUT in Logic you can never get past the messages, and you have to force quit. Not sure if the Mackie control board caused this problem...don't have a solution yet and have not figured out how to extract the pieces of the Garageband project into a new project.
    HELP!
    Thanks,
