Unknown playlist appears in iTunes

yesterday i transfered my itunes to a new laptop and had no problems. Today i open itunes and beneathmy purchased music icon is a blue icon, mine are green, that is labeled "Ricks Limewire tunes". It is a Quicktime video file. It wont play and i cant figure out a way to delete it. I thought i had very good security on my laptop but now im not so sure. any suggestions on how to remove this?

It's the iTunes sharing feature. No one has hacked your system - they are just on the same subnet (probably wireless) as you, and they are also running iTunes at this moment.
Go to edit > preferences > sharing tab and uncheck everything. The blue sharing icon will go away.

Older Zens don't support AAC, which is the format iTunes uses for songs.
You can convert from AAC to MP3, which every media player under the sun will play.  Here's a tutorial: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-12519_7-10096807-49.html

  • Playlists appear in itunes but not on sync list

I have recently exported my itunes library to a new lap top.  Several playlists were lost but I wasn't that fussed.  Itunes was newly installed on the laptop.  When I plug in my iPhone (4) and select "music" only six playlists are available and five of those are the automatic ones created by itunes (recently updated, recently played etc).
I have got Match. but that caused even more problems and is currently turned off on both devices.  I am going away on holiday tomorrow and have no music and am at my wits end.  Can anyone advise?
    Thank you
    Gillie

    I feel stupid.
Yes, your answer did work, but it wasn't very satisfying, as I wanted the videos to show up separately from my other movies. Then I realized what I'd been missing.
When your iPod is hooked up to iTunes, there's an option under the "Music" tab that reads "Allow music videos." It was unchecked - once I checked it, everything was fine. Thanks for answering though!

  • Random unknown songs appearing in Itunes

    Hello,
I went to update my iPod and check on everything in my itunes when I started seeing all of these random songs/albums of people/bands I had never heard of in my life! There is no one else that uses my computer, so its not like someone else downloaded it. I'm extremely frustrated... because I don't know if its a virus or what... Please help.

There is an option to share files between computers. I don't know how to go about fixing it though

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Playlists don't appear in iTunes

I got a new computer, I installed itunes, connected my ipod but my play lists from my ipod don't appear in itunes? How do I fix that? Everything I see has me sync the itunes to the ipod (thereby eleminating my playlists) but not the other way around.  How do I fix that?

Well this didn't work.  I get to step #10 and there is just the words "home Share" and nothing listed below it, no arrow to click.  I'm assuming neither computer is recognizing each other even though they are sitting side by side and connected to the same wifi connection.  I'm literally about to throw everything in the trash!!!

  • When downloading updates from iTunes to my iPhone my playlists appear in reverse order with least played at the top. I just want the playlist to appear in the same order as my iTunes library. This seems to have changed after downloading iCloud

When dowloading updates from my iTunes library onto my iPhone
my playlists appear in reverse order with the least played at the top of the list
and most played at the end on the playlist.
Therefore I cant play my favourites in the order that I like to hear them.
This all changed when I recently downloaded the iCloud application.

    Hi Jim,
Is this temporary cache accessing my data when I play songs from it? As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm still able to listen to these songs even when my phone is in airplane mode and the download icon is still present next to said songs. This implies that the songs are already downloaded onto my phone even if I didn't opt to download them directly from the cloud -- they're on my phone because my phone was shuffling my library on a wifi network.

  • Playlist on iphone5 not appearing in iTunes

Hi all - need some help.  I added new playlists on iphone5 (software iOS 6.1.4), and when I connect the device to itunes, the lists do not appear available under the device name.  When I check to sync, one of the options to choose is selected playlists, artists, etc.  However, the other option is to sync the entire library, which I'd prefer not to do, since creating the playlist on the phone took more than enough time.  I do have itunes set to sync when connected to the computer.  We also use the cloud, but only for contacts.  I do not, and have never, used the match feature.
Any suggestions how I can get the new playlists to appear in itunes?
Also, anyone know how to sort the playlists on the iphone5 to identify duplicate songs in there?  It seems to be sorted randomly.
    Thank you for any suggestions!

  • When I add a playlist file in iTunes, they do no appear in my library but do appear in the playlist

    Hi all.
Not been on here in ages so please be gentle!
Just a question with itunes. Im using lion and everything is updated. If i have a folder with music files in it and a playlist file, if I drag the playlist file into itunes it will appear under the playlist heading with all of the files there. However if I goto my library and look for the files, they do not appear.
Is this normal, I can't say I ever remember this happening before!
    Thanks for your help!

I found a work around by manually adding each song in the order I want to the shuffle.  As long as I disconnect the iPod without ejecting or syncing, it will stay in the order I want.  I have also discovered that when I create new playlists, I have the same problem with the alphabetical order of artists.  Is there a setting I may be missing?

  • HT201210 i applied the resolutions above yet my iphone' "unknown error" still appear in itune.

Since i just bought the apple iphone model MC133KH, i tried connecting it to iTunes. At first, it was connected and i backed it up . I was able to sync it and it was successfull. But when i connect it again the following day, the "restore your iPhone appeared so i clicked it but at the end, a message "unknown error" appeared so I tried applying the resolutions suggested but to no avail. O cannot use my iphone anymore because of this issue. The screen of my iphone only displays the picture of the USB with arrow pointing to the itune icon and nothing else. I admit that at my age which is 53 is not much adept to new technologies like this so may anybody help me to resolve this. thanks

  • Can't get CD playlists to appear in itunes for Shuffle

You have to either "Import" the CD into iTunes' library or "Add" it to the library. THEN you can drag and drop the music onto teh Shuffle...

  • How do you view tv or movie playlists created in iTunes on Apple TV?

I have iTunes 12.1.0.50 running on a Mac and a 2nd generation Apple TV with the latest software update on it.  However I am aware that Apple is not providing any more updates to the 2nd generation Apple TV.  I have some tv shows purchased on iTunes that I'd like to view in a playlist so that they can play back to back (kind of like it works on Netflix).  So, I created a smart playlist to contain all of The Walking Dead episodes in the right sequence and works very well when I play the movies on my Mac in iTunes.  However, I want to play this on my 2nd generation Apple TV without streaming directly from my iTunes on my Mac.  From searching on the web it seems like people have done this by setting the "Show Playlists" settings under "Audio Settings" from "Music only" to "All" and that after doing this the tv and video playlists are supposed to show up somewhere in Apple TV.  It doesn't appear to be working for me so my first question is "where" are these playlists supposed to show up e.g.(under "Movies" for movies and under "TV shows" for tv shows?  or is it in the Music playlists?)  I've looked everywhere and it doesn't appear to work.
I have even setup Home Sharing to view my playlists directly on my Mac from Apple TV and even then I don't see the playlists that contain tv shows or movies.  So one thought I had is that the latest iTunes update broke this feature for 2nd generation Apple TVs (since other people have mentioned using this feature).   I have also tried creating a normal playlist to add movies or tv shows to but I get a message from iTunes that it needs to download the whole movie from the cloud to put it in a playlist (which I find clunky).  I allowed the download to happen once just to see if the normal playlist would suddenly appear on Apple TV but it didn't show up either.  So, I'm not sure if I need to get the 3rd generation Apple TV to have this feature now or if those units are broke as well.....or if there is something else I need to do to get this to work.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Playlists AFAIK do not sync with the cloud.  The only way you could posibly do it is Home Sharing from iTunes if the playlists appear in Computers,

  • Help! I deleted some playlists from my iPhone 4S, and it deleted the playlists in my iTunes library as well!  What can I do to get my playlists back?

Please help... I've been trying to get rid of a ton of unwanted music on my iPhone 4S.  The music I had marked in iTunes to sync to my phone was not the only music showing up.  In my attempts to get rid of the unwanted music, I decided to delete all the music on my phone. Even after unchecking the "Sync Music" tab, there were still 3 songs left as well as my previous playlists.  So, I deleted the playlists... which appears to have simultaneously deleted the playlists from my iTunes library!  Also, I can not get rid of the remaining songs no matter what I try!!  Please help!!!

If you keep the 4s and send back the 4 you ARE stealing their device. If the decide they want the device back, send them the device that they purchased.
Switching SIMs is irrelevant to the discussion.
