Unknown Plugins prevent opening files

I am using CS3 5.0.4 and I get a missing Plugin message asking for Conditional Text.InDesignPlugin and WorldReady.InDesignPlugin when opening clients files. Are these old or missing plugins? InDesign has all the adobe updates to the 5.0.4 version.
Can I download these plugins and install them into InDesign? How can I get these files to open?

Thats the problem, I dont really get an error message that should prevent me from opening it.
The first one is "Missing fonts, The document "3" uses one or more fonts which are not currently available on your system. The text will use a substitute font until the original font becomes available."
The other is "This document contains links ot missing or modified files. Click Fix Links automatically to have InDesign update this document with the modified files and help you locate missing files. Click Don't Fix to correct the problem yourself using the Links panel" 3 missing links 0- Modified links
Actually I just opened the file on another computer and its works fine. Tried the same on a mac here at work and it wouldnt open. The only difference is that we have DARWIN installed on the 2 computers that wont open it and the one that did open it doesnt. So it appears to be a DARWIN issue.
Time to raise a little hell with them I guess.

InCopy 8 (CS6): Missing Plugins, Cannot Open File

A client and I have used InCopy for several years with no issues. After upgrading to CS6, though, we are both getting this error when opening InDesign files that have embedded preflight profiles:
Missing Plug-ins, Cannot Open File
Package and Preflight.InDesignPlugin
I've tested this on two machines (both Macs) and can confirm that it happens only with embedded preflight profiles. My client is having the same experience on his brand-new iMac (with no previous CS6 installations).
Documents without embedded preflight profiles open normally.
Extension Manager reports that the Package and Preflight plugin is loaded -- but from a nonexistent folder:
This folder existed in CS5.5 but not now. Both my client and I have uninstalled and reinstalled InCopy CS6 with no change.
After clicking through the error to load the document, selecting Option+Command+InCopy > About InCopy to display component information shows that the plugin is both "used" and "missing."
No big deal (we can click through this) but annoying and strange. Anyone else running into this?

Checking plugin status, two are listed as "Unknown Plugin"
The buttons offering to research them result in a 404 File Not Found.

Logic hangs on a plugin while opening File

I have a song that will no longer open beacuse in the process of it opening, it up gets hung up while accessing a plugin that was used on a track. Is there a way to bypass the plugin before opening the file so that I can get the song opened up and readdress (or fix) the plugin problem.

Yes....
Quit any open project
Go to Logic's menu bar and click on Logic Pro/Preferences/Audio Units manager and disable the plugin in there by unchecking it.
You may need to then restart Logic... but try loading the project first before doing so, to save you time if you don't need to restart

ActiveX Excel Prevent Open File While Writting

I'm having some of the same problems with Excel and ActiveX found here:

The last post from the above link gives an acceptable workaround (not ideal, but hey, what can you do?) to preventing the user from closing Excel when files are being written to with ActiveX through LabVIEW (since a user can open an Excel file while LV is writting to Excel files with ActiveX and all the files will share the same Excel application, instead of Excel opening a seperate application like one would hope).
My question for this post: In the previous post Ben had a problem with the user opening a different Excel file than those being written to. My VI opens an exisiting Excel file (test.xls) and writes to it. If the user opens test.xls while LV is still writting test.xls, it will throw an error. Note that the error is not thrown if test.xls is open before the VI starts writting to it, only if the user opens it while its being written to by LV.
Any ideas on how to lock the file so the user can't open it while it is being used by LV?

Thats a great solution, I actually had tried it but gave it up since the user could close out of "their" Excel (closing the reference), then open a new spreadsheet which would open in "my" Excel (if done while my subVI was still writing to Excel). At the time, this was a possible scenario for my program, and since I was writing so slowly had happened. I just sped up the writing of the Excel file (I had all the data to write, but was writing with "Set Cell Value.vi", which wrote one cell at a time; instead I wrote whole ranges of data). If Excel was already open, I would set interactive to false and have my spreadsheet minimized while writing to it. If Excel wasn't open, I would just make it invisible. Since I cut the time down to about a second, this worked for my application.

My choice of plugin to open files will not respond automatically

When I try to open a downloaded file, I always have to find and choose the plugin. I have hecked the "always use this ..." in preferences.

Try repairing your permissions. Go to applications then to the "other" folder then go to disk utility, on the left hand side you will see a white box. Select the second option, usually called "mac HD" with that selected click on "repair permissions" in the center towards the bottom of the screen. Wait for it to complete, then see if this fixes the issue.

CS3 plugins needed: worldready and conditional text plugins to open files

I have CS3 Creative Suite and I created a digital portfolio that will not open on my new computer because it says a worldready plugin and conditional text plugins are needed. I called the adobe hotline but they said since it's CS3 they do not have support for my issue and that I would need to update to CS5. If someone could please direct me in the right direction it would be extremely appreciated.

You are trying to open a file saved in a more recent version of InDesign. If it was only those two plugins listed it's a CS4 file. The file will need to be opened in the correct version and exported back to .inx through CS4 (CS5 files need to be exported to .idml before they can be opened in CS4). Unsupported features will be lost and text may reflow du to differnces inthe text engins from version to version.

How do I stop Quicktime plugin from opening all WAV files?

I have iTunes on my Windows 7 Ultimate computer to support my iPhone. iTunes installs QuickTime, QuickTime installs the QuickTime browser plugin, and the QuickTime browser plugin DOES NOT RESPECT THE WINDOWS FILE EXTENSION ASSOCIATIONS. This causes problems because I DO NOT want QuickTime to open WAV and MP3 files as I have other applications for those file types. So my question is...
How do I tell the QuickTime browser plugin to open file types a, b, and c, but NOT open file types d, e, and f? I can't find the file type association dialog for the QuickTime plugin.

Firefox and Chrome seem to have workarounds, and in playing around with Firefox tonight it looks like using Firefox (or Chrome) will solve a lot of the issues here at home, but at the office I'm limited to IE 9, 64 bit when using a Windows 7 box. Odd as it may seem, I have IE 8, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera on my office XP Pro box. So, I'm having to "reverse migrate" as I move from a Windows XP Pro box to a Windows 7 box at the office, and switch from using Firefox and Chrome (XP Pro) to using IE 9 (Win 7). Thus, the problems with the QuickTime plugin in 64 bit IE 9 are a real annoyance.
Hmmm, so Quicktime is no longer needed for iTunes. That's interesting. I have iTunes at both home and office and maybe uninstalling Quicktime at the office will solve some of the problems ... except for playing ".mov" files...
I'm considering some registry hacks for the office Windows 7 Ultimate box, but I'll have to get the sysadmin to make any registry changes.
Have you tried any of the registry fixes?

See for yourself which version of ACR is needed for that camera’s RAW files

then check your version (Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw).
Your version of Photoshop does not support that version of ACR.
You could use the free DNG Converter.

Why does FireFox freeze and the only way to unfreeze it is to open the task manager and close the plugin-container.exe file??? It has been happening more and more often and it is getting VERY AGGRAVATING!!!!!

When Firefox does freeze (not responding appears in parentheses in the page tab) I am not able to access any of the webpages (the entire webpage is hidden behind a vaguely white transparent foreground) and more often than not any files I might be downloading are stopped before the entire file has been transferred - which means that I have to start those downloads from the beginning AGAIN. This has been happening for quite some time and I AM SICK AND TIRED OF IT HAPPENING!!
If it continues to happen for much longer I will swear off FireFox FOREVER!!!!! Either a program works or it does not work and lately Firefox has not worked worth a damn...........
The ONLY way to force Firefox to allow me to access it is for me to end the plugin-container.exe file process using Task Manager. Clearing there is a SERIOUS problem here that has not been resolved - why not???

The pluging container opens up unnecessary copies as the cookies/history are cleared, this is a known issue, it might be what you are seeing, and it is hoped to be fixed in some future release of firerox.
There are some hangs affecting some users, with symptoms being high cpu usage, occurring as bookmark changes or syncing is in progress, there is a work around for that.

Can't open file in CS4 due to plugins?

Hi, hoping someone can help.
I am trying to open an Indesign file (I think it's a CS3 file) with CS4 but get this message:
Cannot Open File
Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign.
It lists about 15 plugins that are 'missing';
eg:
PDF.InDesignPlugin
FontManager
Group
Generic
Table Model
etc etc
Any ideas how I get around this so I can work on the doc?

That error message means that you're trying to open a file that is newer than your copy of InDesign. So, the file pretty much has to be a CS5 file. You can't open a CS5 file in CS4; you'd need to open it up in CS5 and export an IDML file, which you can then open in CS4.
There's an additional confusing element here:
InDesign CS4 is actually InDesign 6 when you click Help -> About
InDesign CS2 is actually InDesign 4 when you click Help -> About
and so on
However, it's not possible to see that error message when you're opening an older InDesign file in a newer program.
