"Unknown Shading Type Encountered"

I have run across this error more than once while pre-flighting client art. I would have thought that it was a plug in or something, however, this has happened more than once from more than one client.
Today, I had this error pop up when opening a layout, and it removed all gradients from the file. Before now, neither the previous clients nor I could notice a difference in the layout. I have CS3.
Any ideas?

Actually, "unknown shading types" can be just regular linear gradients as well. Apparently, the way gradients are defined in PDFL (literally, the PDF Language) differ somewhat from the way they are defined in Illustrator's native format. So you may encounter this error when opening a PDF (that was created outside of Illustrator). You may need to reapply those gradients.

  • Reason for Error "Unknown field type (28) encountered."

    Hello,
I'm from Germany, so sorry for my English first.
I got the error "Unknown field type (28) encountered." when I run
    a simple "SELECT * FROM system.functions" on my ADD-Database.
The solution for this problem is found in the KBA 2145730.
If I use the ADS DLLs v. 11.10.0.22 I got the error, but if I use the
ADS DLLs v. 9.10.0.35 everything is fine.
For solving other problems I think it would be better to use the newest
version, but in this case I can't. At this time it is not a problem, because
I can't find any real reason so that I must update for now, but nevertheless
I'd like to know, why this error occurs. What is type 28? Or (what real
would be great) can I make changes to my software, so that I can
avoid this problem? I hope you can help me with this "riddle" and wish
all of you a great day.
    Greetings from Germany,
    Gerit Freericks

For backwards compatibility the server will send different field types (i.e. char vs varchar, ansi vs unicode, etc).
The server determines this based on the ACE (Advantage Client Version).  By swapping in new DLLs you are telling the server that you are running a newer client and it can send the newer field types etc for the system tables.
In addition to swapping the DLLs re-build the application with the new TDataSet (re-compile) and this should resolve your issue.
For the field types look at ACE.pas  (or ACE.h) in the TDataSet (on the latest).  It looks like 28 is an NMEMO (Unicode Memo field)

while trying to do a tpgetreply on a calldescriptor value got.
Let me know if any of you encountered this error before.

    Bob,
Thanks for your help. I was able to fix the problem.
The problem was coming because of the way we populated the occurrances in the
    FML key.
Looks like we cannot populate the FML Keys with occurrance 1 or 2 without populating
the FML Key with occurrance 0 for a particular FML Key.
So, here is what I did. I made sure in my component that FML Key and Value for
a particular key with Occurance 0 is populated before I populate the FML Key and
values for occurances like 1 or 2.

    Aravind,
There are a several ways that this can occur. Two that
    might be are:
    1) Your tux side is version 7.1 but does not have the
required patch(level 58 or greater) for running security
    with WTC.
    2) Your Tux side is sending a buffer with an invalid type
    or subtype.

  • SOA 12.1.3: REST Adapter generates run time "unknown media type" Exception

    HI All,
We are workig with a client who are looking to migrate from BPEL 10g to Oracle 12c. The current implementation integrates with a number of RESTFUL services via JAVA components that are invoked via BPEL. As part of the migration we are looking to migrate and simplify these with use of the new REST Adapters. The use case and issue is as follows:
We have a client who exposes a REST service via the usual principles. This service is provided by a 3rd Party provider as an external service for out clients 3rd party application. The REST service provides a number of Resources and Operations (GET, PUT, DELETE) to manipluate and retrieve data as per the interface provided.
Based on one of the Simple GET operations, we have attempted to create a new REST adapter based on the interface. The provider does not supply a WADL, hence the REST adapter has been generated by using the REST Adapter within JDeveloper and configuring the resources, operations and request/ response types as required. This generates the required WADL file (see attached).
When testing the WADL via JDeveloper, the response is returned as expected. However when deploying this to SOA Suite 12.1.3, the adapter errors a runtime. The error that is encountered is as follows:
    <summary>oracle.fabric.common.FabricInvocationException: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unknown media type : application/atom+xml; charset=utf-8; type=feed</summary>
When reviewing the HHTP response from the service through SOAP Ui I can see the content type is set to application/atom+xml.
After reviewing the Oracle Documentation it does not seem to provide any insight into this issue or any possible reasons for its occurence.
Has anyone had similar issues or provide any insight into this issue? It appears on face value the Adapters are not compatiable with this media type, which may prove to be a big limitation
    Regards Dave

    Hi Dave,
REST Adapter in SOA 12.1.3 currently only supports the following media types...
    1. application/json
    2. application/xml
    3. application/www-form-urlencoded
Since the service you are calling is using application/atom+xml, hence you are getting the error.

  • Rwservlet "unknown file type"

    Hi,
I'm trying to run one of our standard reports on IE7 on one our company PCs using the standard URL produce PDF output....
    http://your_web_server:port_num/rwservlet?server=server_name&report=myreport.rdf etc etc....
Now, bearing in mind that this runs fine on every other PC in the building fine and runs perfectly ok on Firefox on the same pc, can someone pls tell me why I am getting the following pop up..

It then tries to get me to download rwservlet onto the PC and thats it! No report run after that.
What is going on? Can someone enlighten me or even point me to an answer. I've tried searching but no joy.
    Thanks

At a guess you are trying to generate an excel spreadsheet, and thats not opening in ie7, but is in firefox?
Thats when I encountered this problem.
Try this on a machine, then run again after.
    Solution
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
    In the Windows environment:
    1) Start -> Run -> Regedit (to open the registry)
    2) Locate the following key path:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\
    FEATURE_ZONE_ELEVATION\iexplore.exe
    3) Change the value from '1' to '0'
    4) Ensure that the following settings for the .xls & .html file types are unchecked:
    a) Open Windows Explorer
    b) Goto Tools/Folder Options/File Types tab
    c) Select the Extension 'XLS' (or HTML) and Click on the Advanced button
    d) Un-check the option 'Confirm Open after Download' & 'Browse in same window'

  • Can't boot after system update: unknown filesystem type

After running a system update, including updating the kernel, I can't boot to the new kernel.
On booting, grub loads the kernel image, runs/loads udev, but then fails to mount the root partition with error:
    mount: unknown filesystem type 'ext4'
I have tried reinstalling the 'linux' package via packman several times, also trying the --recursive argument to make sure all my dependencies were there, and after days of googling and tweaking my system, I'm at a loss.
Thank goodness I happened to keep a spare kernel laying around in /boot.
    Thanks in advance.
Last edited by jackrabbit (2012-03-22 23:25:28)

The OP can read their partition initially though, it's only after udev that they can't.
Also, try adding "rootfstype=ext4" to your grub kernel line. Is your /boot on a separate partition or part of your / partition?

There is no serialiser configured in the cache config, instead we just set tangosol.pof.enabled=true, and set the pof config file to what is seen above. The thing which is very confusing about this error is that unlike other clients which we connect, and in fact the servers they connect to, this client never attempts to load the cache configuration file. The point at which this should happen, prior to pof loading, shows:
    2011-07-11 15:54:57.260/1.391 Oracle Coherence GE 3.5.2/463p2 <Info> (thread=Main Thread, member=n/a): Loaded cache conf

I have tried every combination of classpath entries I can think of, and no matter what, it never shows an attempt to load the application-cache-config.xml supplied in the startup. Does anyone have any experience with something like this?

I guess your non-storing JAVA code does not specify -Dtangosol.pof.enabled=true and the -Dtangosol.pof.config =<POF file location> on joining the cluster. Post the startup java command and the complete logs.
If application-cache-config is not loaded then coherence-cache-config.xml should be loaded by default and set -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=<application-cache-config>

I've been working on a file in FreeHand 11 for a few months

week ago, I can no longer open it - on either of my computers (both

Haha. I know. I was stupid... The last backup of the file is
four months old. Unfortunately I've done quite a lot of work on it
    since then...
One interesting thing though, is that I can still see the
thumbnail picture in Windows Explorer. Also, I'm able to open the

I just tried to open it again on my desktop. Same error

I am trying to open sand_river1.jpg cited on p. 74 of Adobe Fireworks Classroom in a Book and am getting a "Could not open file" and "unknown file type" despite the fact that the image is displaying as a thumbnail in the file browser.  I get the message on both Windows and Mac Fireworks CS6.  Is it possible these publication assets were not part of Adobe's QA regression?  Anyway:
    - I'd rather not try to fix this myself since it's an Adobe product and I can wait.
    - has this problem been corrected?
    - is there an errata site for the book?  When I search on Google I am just sent to Amazon and bittorrent.

A quick Google search for that file name confirmed the issue here, and a fixed version for chapter 4 can be downloaded at http://www.jimbabbage.ca/_files/ch4files.zip

    Olivier, thank you so much
SOAMANAGER does not exist in my system (sp level 8), so node "/sap/bc/soap/rfc" should be active. Actually, it is active.
I think the problem is related to user rights/profiles.
I have tried to create another WS after assigning role SAP_BC_WEBSERVICE_ADMIN. The same error when trying to activate it, but now, I can see this WS in SE80 (under "Enterprise Services->Service Definition"). It is not active there and if I try to activate it, a success message appears indicating that user "is not authorized to use function netzwerkadministration". I cannot see any new services in SICF...
Probably the new entry in SICF will be created after activating WS in SE80...
Do u know what user profile should I add in order to properly activate the WS in SE80?
    Thank you very much!

  • "unknown user type" exception when the object don't exist for i/p key.

    Hi
I'm using Coherence REST service(comes with the Coherence bundle) to validate my cache data.
When I hit the cache for a valid key, I get data returned back. But for the object that don't exist in the cache I get "Internal Server" error.
I'm fine with "Internal Server" response show in the browser, but I don't want it to be printed as part of my coherence logs.
For example, when I hit the REST url for key that don't exist in the cache, I get below exception in coherence logs.
How can I get rid off it (or) suppress the exception logs.

    Hi,
I included coherence-rest-pof-config.xml as part of my pof-config as shown below.
    <pof-config xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/coherence/coherence-pof-config"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/coherence/coherence-pof-config coherence-pof-config.xsd">
    <user-type-list>
    <include>coherence-pof-config.xml</include>
    <include>coherence-rest-pof-config.xml</include>
    <user-type>
    <type-id>1001</type-id>
I also checked my coherence-rest.jar files for the configuration and the clasess, and all of them exist.
I started my coherence by passing the classpath as below:
    $JAVAEXEC -server -Xms6g -Xmx6g -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode -XX:CMSInitiatingOccupancyFraction=25 -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=40 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=70 -Duser.timezone=GMT -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=xx.xx.xx.xx -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=13366 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false -Dtangosol.coherence.log.level=3 -Dtangosol.coherence.log=log4j -showversion $JAVA_OPTS -cp $COHERENCE_HOME/config/:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/coherence.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/guidecacheclient.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/jersey-server-1.8.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/jersey-core-1.8.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/jersey-json-1.8.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/jackson-all-1.8.1.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/coherence-rest.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/log4j-1.2.16.jar -Dtangosol.coherence.management=all -Dtangosol.coherence.management.remote=true -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=xx.xx.xx.xx -Dtangosol.coherence.mode=eval com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer $1
While starting, I'm getting configuration missing exception as shown below. What am I still missing.

    I see several possibilities.
    1. What you are trying to load is not a shared library.
    2. The shared library is compiled incorrectly to match the process space of the VM. There can be any number of causes for this.
Note that the word width mismatch strongly suggests the second.
You should start by forgetting weblogic entirely. Write a simple java app and using an explicit path in the load() method, not loadLibrary(), get it to load. Until it works there it you have no chance in weblogic.

Thanks, Andy. I checked, and it is formatted "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".
