Unknown usage of space in iphone.

hi, there is about 1gb of file taken up by "others" shown in itunes, this is very irrtating. any idea what are these files? how am i able to remove it?

Sometime around the time I did the latest update (not sure if it was before or after) I noticed my "other" was at 1.2 GB. Since none of the suggested fixes I've seen (reset, add a song, etc.) did anything I did my first ever restore.
I synced everything first, but forget to save my photos which I did not have backed up. I restored from backup. Everything is fine, my "other" is back at 225 MB and my photos are still there.
So, I'd suggested trying restore from backup first if you have to do it, since that did fix my problem. I notice that my phone seems generally faster and more responsive since I did the restore. So perhaps whatever had my "other" out of whack was slowing the phone.

Can't restore from backup because not enough space on iphone? huh?

I am trying to simply restore my iphone from a backup on my laptop because I accidentally deleted an app of mine with important data. When I go to restore the iphone though from a backup it tells me that it can't restore b/c not enough space on iphone. I don't see how that makes sense since if it's a backup from the same iphone I'm using, how can there ever not be enough space to restore it? I've also already searched other peoples problems and my hard disk has plenty of space on it where itunes and the backups are installed. I've tried moving the temp and tmp folders but that didn't do anything.

I restored to an older backup which seemed to go through but now when I then try to restore to a newer backup it says on the phone "restore complete" and then it gives me same error message on computer. When I look at phone it seems to have restored my notes and contacts, but not my SMS or my calendar.

How Long does it take to receive a space grey iPhone 5s in November, 2013?

I ordered online a 16 gb Space Grey iPhone 5s on November 5th. The Verizon website said it would ship within 2 days of November 6th. Well....it's almost the beginning of December and I'm still getting the "order being processed, check back tomorrow" message when I check the status of my order. I'm starting to think if you order online you are stuck at the back. They might have the phones at the stores so they get the people who wander into the Verizon stores can get their phones before they can change their minds. Would I be best served by canceling my order and just going to a Verizon or Apple store. I waited a couple of months before ordering assuming it wouldn't take this long. Anyone order online something similar recently and received their phone?

The code 245 can be vary, it also showing 247...etc
Any idea?

I try as what you said to generate the crash dump but i can not find any files in the /var/crash/ and no such directory was generated.
Could it be dumping somewhere other than var/crash? I try to create the var/crash folder manually but still not able to get it

Your post was somewhat hard to understand, but I'll do my best to help as much as I can.
If you take a picture or save a picture, it'll be in camera roll. If you delete the picture there, it'll remove it from all other locations.
If you have photos in album stream, you can't even save those pictures to your camera roll. To get rid of those you'll need to connect your device to itunes, select your device, go to photos & deselect the option to sync them to your device.

you can import that file in itunes, verify it plays, then attempt to sync to ipad with itunes. I have had limited success, cause some of the versions will not transfer.

How to delete "other" space in iPhone?

I have a 16GB iPhone 4s, I was always wondering why my other family members had so many pictures (1,000+) and so many songs, etc. with the same amount of memory. I always had problems with my phone because I'd have at most 600 photos and I'd get a notice saying I should manage my settings and I wouldn't allowed to take more photos, etc. I checked how much space these things were taking and the "other" category has 4. 79 GB that it's taking up! I read that I should restore my phone but I wouldn't wanna lose my pictures.
If i restore my phone when how do I add the photos back into camera roll, rather than add it to an album?
And why is "other" taking so much space? I read it's from corrupt files, but where did all this corrupt files come from?

The issue source is likely a corrupt app. If you have an app or two that has not been widely used and reviewed, those are the places to look. If you haven't done the restore yet, you could also check Settings > General > About > Diagnostics & Usage > Diagnostic & Usage Data and see which app(s) are crashing a lot. That may help.
"Another way to restore contacts and photos"? That depends a lot on what source you're using for these. If, for example, you use iCloud, restoring contacts would be trivial - simply turn on Contacts in iCloud on your iPhone and you're done. The basic way is to use the iTunes tabs (e.g., Photos) and select what you want there.

CoPilot will not upgrade due to lack of space on iPhone

This issue is occuring on both a 3G and 3Gs phone that we own. I have read on forums outside of here that others are having the same issue. When I origally tried to install CoPilot it told me there was not enough free space to install the 1.3g app. My phone had 5gig free at that time. I uninstalled some videos to free up more space and got it to 11gig free. Still got the same message of not having enough free space. I unplugged the iphone, shut down iTunes and rebooted pc. CoPilot app then installed. After CoPilot installed I resynced movies and all was fine. Same exact thing happened on both phones. Then 2 days later CoPilot came out with an update. I ran into the same issue for the update. My 3g had 9 gig free and iTunes still said it could not install CoPilot for lack of free space. I have looked at the other forums and they say to look at the "other" section of storage on the iPhones, but both of these phones show little memory usage there. My theory is that in the code of CoPilot someone put in an extra digit in the memory requirements and instead of looking for 1.3 gig of free memory it is looking for 13gig of free memory. It is a real big hassle to delete things off of iPhone just to get an app to install.

I have this exact problem, but with slightly different figures. When I originally tried to install CoPilot (which is about 1.5 Gb) there was about 4 Gb free, but the install continually failed due to lack of space on the iPhone (16 Mb 3G). I had to remove a load of music to get enough space to install.
Now there's a CoPilot update and with even 3.5Gb available on the phone, I just get that same error and it won't install. I then deleted CoPilot so there was almost 5 Gb free and tried again and I think it is now OK (currently sync'ing, but very slow).
I don't think this is a CoPilot issue as many users seem to be experiencing similar problems with other apps. I think perhaps it's more likely with CoPilot because it is relatively large. But the fact remains that the iPhone seem to need more than 3 times the size of the app in order to even update it which is truly a PIA and takes a lot of messing about to get around the problem.
Anyone know of a fix to this? I guess it's really a bug and needs to be reported to iPhone feedback).
