Unkown error 9812 help!!!!

i do the update to Ios4.0 it installs then when connect to itunes it recognises my iphone but then this pops up:
We could not complete your itunes store request. An unknown error occurred (-9812).
There was an error in the itunes store. Please try again later
i try again and again, but nothing. and on the phone screen it still has connect to itunes. help please...

Found this to be helpful in another forum. I clicked on the link and installed the update, my phone was immediately found and I'm currently updating to OS 4. I had previously went into Add/Remove Programs and "Repaired" iTunes as well as backed up as well as removed all my music from my iPhone before I found this update. Good luck!

I posted my issues in a different forum (iTunes) and got an answer from Jolly Giant. He/She suggested I update my Root Kit by going to link provided below. The link is for the 2009 update, but I download the 2009 and 2010 just to be safe. I had to restart my computer, but my iPod is working fine now. Hopefully this will work for some of you.

  • Unkown error (-9812)

I'm having trouble accessing the iTunes store. I keep on getting
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. And unknown error occured (-9812). There was an error in the itunes sotre. Please try again later."
I contacted support and they said it was just a temporary issue but it's been going on for several weeks now.
My connection works fine. Another computer (Intel Macbook 10.4.11) can connect fine no problem.
I'm not running Norton or any firewalls...my credit card info on my account is up to date...date & time are correct...
It seems to be a Windows error message: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301520
Any help would be appreciated. Its killing me because I can't authorize any of my purchased music
EDIT: I looked through the forums but couldn't find anything that helped.

  • Error -9812, Help!

I have a Mac and Windows with iTunes on, and both, when I try to download anything, give me the error number -9812. A quick google search turns up nothing, so though I would ask in here for some help.
It started to happen last night and as I have Tiscali as my ISP, I thought it was the usual peak time error, but I checked again early this morning, and still have the error. Any specific reasons why it can occur?

Hi everyone, I've read a lot about the error 9812 when trying to create an itunes account but still cannot find a solution. I'm now desesperated! My computer says Designed for Windows XP and underneath Windows Vista capable. Is this why my itunes store is not compatible? Anyone for repair solution please??????? Many thanks

    Hi Steph,
This (the -9812 error) was a widespread problem a while back and most people found that re-registering their .dll security certificates did the trick. Apple posted a help page (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301520) but the Microsoft link no longer works. As such, here are some instructions and a web page reference. Hopefully this will work for you:
To register the DLL files, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 softpub.dll in the Open box, and then click OK. When you receive the message that the DllRegisterServer succeeded, click OK.
    2. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 initpki.dll in the Open box, and then click OK. When you receive the message that the DllRegisterServer succeeded, click OK.
    3. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 mssip32.dll in the Open box, and then click OK. When you receive the message that the DllRegisterServer succeeded, click OK.
    4. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 wintrust.dll, click OK, and then click OK when you receive the message that the DllRegisterServer succeeded.
And here's the web page reference:

  • "The iPod cannot be updated. An unkown error occured. (-36)"

Hi, can someone help me with this? I've been browsing troubleshooter and topics for days and yet I can't figure out how to fix this one. This occured when I've got my computer reformatted and installed a new iTunes. I can't put anything on my iPod shuffle. The message "The iPod cannot be updated. An unkown error occured. (-36)" keeps on showing everytime I try to put songs on my iPod. I don't know what triggered this. Hope someone could shed some light. Thanks in advance!!

It is actually more simple than iTunes lets u believe.
If you just download an older version of iTunes, most likly the one u had before u updated ur computer, that should fix it and then you can update ur ipod and then get the newer version of iTunes.
Thats what i had to do when i got that exact same error just a few months ago.
If that dont work let me know.

I had to install a new hard drive on my macbook air and now I am getting unkown error whenever I try to login to itunes. Apple support suggested I reset my password so I did that and still the problem is occuring. Itunes and the app store are working normally on my ipad and iphone. Does anyone know what the problem is. The new disk was installed in France coz I am on holiday there. could there be something I need to change in my settings? I need help urgently as I am trying to finish an assignment and need to be able to access and download from icloud.

  • Why do I keep getting an Unkown error when trying to update apps?

    Hi,
When I try to update applications from the Mac App Store, I continouly get a message coming up saying an Unkown Error has occured and I should try again later (4).
    Please Help!

    Hi ...
Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) reinstalls the App Store for you which may help. Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.7.3.
If that doesn't help, if you have anti virus software installed, disable that.
If you have an app called LIttle Snitch installed, that can prevent apps from updating.

  • The iTunes application could not be opened. An unkown error occurred (-50).

I was using iTunes with Windows 7 without problem. I recently updated to the latest version of iTunes (Version 9.2?) and now everytime I try to start up iTunes I get the message "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unkown error occurred (-50)." I tried everything in the Online help section of the Apple website for Windows 7, including "repair", deleteing iTunes and reinstalling, and nothing works. What is going on? Does anybody else have this problem?

Thanks. I actually looked at some of your previous advice on problems with Windows 7 and I disconnected my computer to wired and wireless networks, closed all programs, started CHKDSK and rebooted the computer and that solved the problem. iTunes is running perfectly so far. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention when CHKDSK finished and didn't get to see the report so can't let you know what it actually did, but it accomplished what all the the other solutions I tried did not (set up new user account, remove/replace preferences, remove/replace libraries. remove/reinstall iTunes, etc.).
Thanks again for your attention to this issue.
