Unlimited broadband / total broadband option 3

Hi, can anyone tell me if the totally unlimited broadband free for 6 months £16 month after is the same as the bt total broadband option 3 ? i ordered the unlimited but in my account it says total broadband option 3 ? are they the same package?
Solved!

By the look of the BT website, there is no longer BT option 3. There seems to be BTunlimited and BT unlimited extra. The BTunlimited extra looks like it is the same as the old Option 3.  If you are only paying £16 then it looks like you are on BTunlimited.
To be sure you should give customer services a call and they will confirm what you are on.

  • BT total broadband option 3 general questions

Potential new customer here but got some questions after speaking to BT customer services who have totally confused me so not exactly a good start.
I am looking at bt total broadband option 3 for 19.99 a month for 3 months and 27.99 there after and would love it if someone could clarify the following.
    1. Does this package really come with unlimited wifi (openzone, fon) as BT customer services told me this is extra?
    2. If I take out the mobile broadband option with 1gb is that a one time offer or do I get 1gb free each month?
    3. If I ever go over the FUP of 300gb is it true my broadband will be throttled for 30 days?
Hopefully someone can clarify these questions for me.
    Happy New Year!!!

    Hi.
AFAIK the "peak times throttling" applies for 30 days, not until the billing start date. See :-

  • Is it BT Yahoo / Total Broadband / Option 3 / or d...

    Hopefully someone here can help.
We signed up with BT Openworld back in 2003 which subsequently morphed into BT Yahoo. Since then the service has continued without much issue. (Just a loss of service because BT randomly disconnected us which then took weeks to resolve; plus paying £28+ a month for a 2Mb line - but other than that, not much issue).
Other than these few problems that is:
    a) we have never seen a bill for this service. Trying to click view bills via the BT Yahoo page doesn't work.
    b) in the BT Yahoo account page it says we are on BT Total Broadband Option 3. However, when you go to My BT on BT.com and look at our account (the account has the phone bill showing) we can't see any Broadband listed. In fact, they suggest signing up.....
    c) trying to apply for an Accelerator (old iplate), when typing in our phone number and postcode, it confidently states that we don't have BT Broadband. Ironically, I'm using BT broadband to access the page...
    d) back in October last year I received an email on the BTinternet.com email address telling me the great news that my BT Yahoo account was being moved to BT Total Broadband and that I would be receiving an email when this was done, confirmation of my account number, speeds of up to 20Mb, something to tell me how to view a bill for the first time in 8 years, etc. Nothing has ever been received. We have never received a new home hub for example. No speed increase. No account number, nothing.
Here's the link telling us what we should have won: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14401/c/761/?s_cid=con_FURL_help/newaccount
    e) trying to follow this up with anyone has always been met with "What is your account number"? It seems hard for them to understand that without a bill or any communication with BT, I don't have an account number and I can't find one anywhere else. I have of course offered to make one up.
    f) the line speed sits resolutely at 2Mb. It doesn't matter what router is used, whether the router is plugged into the master socket, whether I tell all my neighbours to have an internet free day, etc.
We can't help but assume our account has been left on an old BT Yahoo set up, with 2Mb maximum and nothing has been done to bring our account to Total Broadband, sort the speed out, merge our accounts with our normal BT bill and allow us to look at a rarely-spotted invoice. Getting my hands on a BT Accelerator would be great too.
    Can anyone help here...?
    Jeremy.

Hi, I've been browsing the forums for general interest and have a somewhat related enquiry to the above queries.
I have been with BT Yahoo Broadband (and whatever came before that) for some years. Last year I had an email to say that (quote):
"Good news. We’re sprucing up some of our systems over the next few months, replacing BT Yahoo! Broadband with BT Total Broadband. We’ll need to give you a new account number but you’ll pay the same and get a better service and more features for your money..." (followed by the 'features' of Total Broadband Option 3).
A few days ago I had an email to say (quote)
"Remember our email about moving you to BT Total Broadband and changing your account number? You’re now on BT Total Broadband and your new account number is GB100XXXXX."
One good thing - for the first time I have an account number that I can quote!
My query is: do my methods of payment stay the same? I am debited every month from my credit card for broadband as the owner of the BT line itself is not me but my partner, and therefore a separate phone account. So far, I have not seen a charge against my credit card this month, and it would have been due now.
I did try and ring one of the helplines today, but sadly the competence of the staff in India has not improved since my last problem with billing (updating credit card details) last December. They were completely clueless, although very polite.
Incidentally the BT Broadband postcode checker suggests that I'd be able to get 7.0 - 8.0MB speed, but mine remains at 2MB, which is what I have had for a long time.  I don't for one minute doubt thatI wouldn't get the maximum, but I'd have thought I'd be getting a little better than the 1.8 MB download I currently average....if indeed I have been transferred over as the emails have suggested?

  • Infinity v Total Broadband Option 3

    Hi,
I currently have BT Infinity (17Mb/1Mb) installed but when I tried to upgrade to Infinity 2, I get a message indicating that an upgrade isn't possible.
If I perform the 'Can I get Infinity' check, I am told that the best that I can get is Faster Total Broadband up to 12Mb.
Could somebody please tell me what the difference is between faster total broadband and Infinity, because when the BT Engineer was installing it, he said it was Infinity and he's installed Infinity kit.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Faster Total Broadband option 3 is for people who would receive less than 15MB from Infinity, considering that your on 17/1MB im guessing this is a good thing. Infinity 2, based on your current download speeds i wouldn't bother, since it using higher frequencies and over a long line from the cabinet like yours, wouldn't be a good idea.
I reckon you should stay put, even people who have had higher estimates have had issues.

  • Total Broadband Option 3 speed

I have BT Total Broadband Option 3, I have just done a speed test and find that my speed has been limited to 2000Mbps., instead of the max pos 8000. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

    welcome to the forum
it's up to 8mb and that depends on many thing but main thing is distance from the exchange - further away from the exchange the lower your speed.
please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester http://speedtester.bt.com and post the results.
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Do you have any phone extension sockets in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • Introducing Totally Unlimited Broadband from BT

    Hi all
From today we’re making a few changes to our broadband portfolio – find out more about our new packages here
The biggest change is that some of our Broadband and Infinity packages will now include totally unlimited usage. This means that we are relaxing our traffic management policy and removing P2P restrictions meaning users won’t be slowed down at peak. There will still be services with usage limits for customers who want a lower cost service because they are light Internet users.
The above will apply to those who order packages including totally unlimited BT Total Broadband or totally unlimited BT Infinity from 1st Feb, or existing customers who re-contract to a totally unlimited package. We’ll not be moving over existing unlimited BT Total Broadband or Infinity customers to the new totally unlimited packages but you can request it yourself. It takes 5 days to change over and you’d be re-contracting at the same time.
All existing customers will get access to BT Cloud storage, either 2Gb or 50Gb depending on your package, even if you’re an existing Digital Vault customer. We’ll be closing Digital Vault over the summer so we recommend you switch all your files over to BT Cloud as soon as you can. All BT customers can also get BT Smart Talk free of charge. Smart Talk is an app that allows you to make calls from your mobile at landline rates over WiFi saving money on your mobile bills.
    Cheers

  • Re-contract to TOTALLY Unlimited Broadband

    Hello
I have unlimited broadband and my connection is traffic managed at peak times on certain type of traffic which is annoying. I would like this removed as I've read is possible.
I'm currently on a half price deal with a few months left to run on the discount. Can I recontract now and retain the discount?
I spoke to BT on the phone and the lady didn't really have a clue what I was talking about. I then got hung up on accidentally it seemed.
Is there a better channel to use to get this sorted?
    Thanks.

  • BT released another Totally Unlimited Broadband pa...

    Hi
I have recently upgraded to the top normal broadband package BT just released at the start of
this month Totally Unlimited Broadband extra which is priced at £21 per month + Line rental
from £10.75 and this was their top normal broadband package on their website.
I have just noticed today BT has just released yet another Totally Unlimited Broadband
package just a day or two ago called Faster Unlimited Broadband which is priced
at £26 per month + Line rental from £10.75.
Looking at the description of both packages on the website below, they are identical and
have the exact same features and up to speeds thought the new just released Faster
Unlimited Broadband package for some reason is 5 pounds more per month.
Does anybody know what the difference is between the Unlimited Broadband extra
package and this new Faster Unlimited Broadband package?

    Thank you for the response.

    Unlimited Broadband extra
You get 50Gb cloud, and Netprotect included.
Can`t see a Faster Unlimited Broadband package.

  • Total Broadband Option 1

From what I have read, I should have been given a Broadband Talk number when I opened my account.
Having read and re-read all the emails, there's no sign of it.
Is Talk standard with Option 1, does anyone know, or is it me getting the wrong end of the stick?
    Cheers.

  • Totally Unlimited Broadband

Just a brief message to get the conversation going.....
This is great news for a lot of us hardcore gamers out there.... However! and its a big However! I think BT are missing the big picture here....
New customers yet again get the best deal out of this, as they can sign up for this as an initial contract; which is acceptable. Existing customers however are getting a raw deal..... we have to re-contract to get this service... What a cheek!
It is clear that to get new contracts out of existing customers and tie us in for yet another eighteen months, they have come up with this "new idea" really! Please! admit it BT.... you have been been found wanting and are now having to compete with other suppliers out there, who are offering this service; as standard.
To be truly competetive and keep customers who are possibly migrating to other suppliers offering "truly unlimited broadband", I would suggest migrating existing customers to " T U B" for free and no extension of their existing contract. If then at the end of the contract, those customers are happy with what they have been experiencing, they can then sign up for another contract......... Another idea to make BT appealing, would be twelve month contracts...
C'mon BT.......... open your ears and start listening to your customers..... after all, we are the life blood of a successful business.

Correct geo. It's not all in BT's favour either - the flip side is that you also keep deals that are downgraded, for example my Sky Sports 1&2 plus ESPN for £15.

  • Trying to upgrade broadband option

Currently on Option 2 40Gb option and tried to update to Unlimited Broadband at £16 p/m but system keeps taking me to Unlimited Broadband Extra at £21 p/m.
As the cheaper option is sufficient for my needs I don't see why it will not allow me to update to the cheaper option or is this because it is cheaper than I am currently paying?
The extra offered by Unlimited Broadband Extra, e.g an extra 48GB of BT Cloud storage and BT Net Ptrotect Plus is of no interest to me, so is £60 wasted over a year.
Any real reason why I can't get the cheaper option?

  • Youview with Broadband option 2?

Thinking of  giving Youview a go , at the mo' i am with Sky and have been for many many years. Can't fault Sky or the equipment so easy to use but price is now a little steep. I do have the Movie package  i do not like sports so no problem there, my only concern is due to my location i can only get about 20 Freeview stations [we are on a relay?] Now most of my / our stations are the mains ones which i can get 12345, can't get film 4 but may consider the new Sky Now TV for films however; what is the quality like? being downloaded must affect sound and picture? is it in 5.1 ? . Of course Lovefilm is another option with my 2 main films at home in bluray, the rest streamed.
Anyone tried Sky Now? how does it compare to Lovefilm? Looking at the full package for Youview [12.50]? + a film sub , my other quwstion is i am on BT opt 2 40gb , i seem to remember getting an email from BT saying i could have Youview if i went on OPT3 UNLIMITED ? don't want to up my bb costs as i average out at 16 gb a month use., Ta

I saw that BT have doubled the allowance for BB option 2 which I'm on.  It's now 40gig.  Does this apply to all current customers too?
I ask because I got an email informing me I was close to my 20gig limit?  Would be really cheeky if the new allowance doesn't apply to current customers.  I started watching more YouTube and iPlayer stuff and also streaming more music from Spotify.  Hope I'm not going to suddenly get landed with a huge bill, all because I read the allowance has been increased!

  • Upgrading to Unlimited Broadband issues.

    Hi,
I am currently on the bt total broadband 10 GB package and would like to upgrade to the Unlimited Broadband package. When I try to upgrade online the only options it eventually gives me is the current package im already on and the unlimited broadband 'extra' package which I dont want, I just want the 16 ppm unlimited package not the extra.  Any ideas?

The same happened to me - although I was on option 2. I contacted 0800 800 030 as below. It took over an hour to get through - possibly due to the BT Sports launch - but when I finally did I was offered unlimited BB for £13.25 per month.
