Unable to link Skype and Microsoft accounts

I am really confused here. I haev tried this on Windows, Mac and iOS no matter what I do cannot link my current/old SKype ID with my longtime Microsoft account. I've followed the KBs poste don this site and I am missing the step where I am offered to link my Microsoft account with my Skype one. E.g I will reference the iOS guide :
Logout of existing Skype ID
Choose login with other account
Choose Micrsoft account
Login with Microsoft account
Choose option for "Already using Skype?" <-- This option does not exist for me on any platform
Not sure why this refuses to work - has anyone else seen this? I had thought initially my Microsoft account TFA (two-factor auth) was throwing this off, and so disabled TFA but still got the same issue.
Then I thoguth that by using one of my aliases for my microsoft account it was not working properly, so I tried the explicit alias I have <username>@outlook.com but that did the same thing.

Ok, I got through the process... of getting back to Skype Community after merging, which is not as easy as it seems. Beware of that! When you merge your accounts, you won't be able to get back to your Skype Community profile due to the merging process that somewhat deletes your "standalone" Skype profile. Your Skype community profile is account-based, not info-based. So even if you will still be using the same Skype name and the same e-mail address, you won't be able to login to your Skype community profile if you created it using your Skype-only account refering to the same e-mail address has your MS one. You will need to create a new Skype community nickname using a completely different e-mail address (like a Gmail or another hotmail, outlook,... that you own). But, doesn't matter if you don't plan to come back to the Skype community, everything else will be fine.
Here's the real stuff! Here are the steps to merge your Skype account with your Microsoft account even if you don't get the prompt asking if you already own a Skype account when logging in with your Microsoft account.
0. Make sure to log out on any Skype app that could still be connected to the service with either of your accounts
1. Go to Skype website and login using your Microsoft account
2. Once on your personal profile page, select "Account Settings" at the bottom of the page
3. Beside your Microsoft account that is listed on the page, click on "Unlink" and complete deletion process of this "ghost profile" (shouldn't be any contacts saved on this profile if you didn't add any contacts in Skype with your Microsoft account)
4. Go back to any Skype desktop or mobile app, login using the "Sign in with a Microsoft Account" option
5. Then, you should be asked again if you own a Skype account, click "Yes", then enter your Skype login information to proceed with the merge.

Hello, At the moment I seem to have two accounts, a skype account and a microsoft account, which was created when I tried to recover my skype password. When I enter the email address I used for skype, I'm now directed to the microsoft account password recovery, for which I do know the password. My contacts now see two accounts: a "firstlastnbr" and a "live:first.last". And my microsoft account has no contacts... Please advise, thanks ! Spiffo

Unable to link my skype and outlook account

Hi,
I have two accounts. on with live.com and one with skype, I'm able to link with both of them and non oof the is linked to any ather accounts how ever I cant link between them.
When I'm signing in with any of them I dont get the merge screen/

Can't merge both my Skype and Microsoft messenger ...

Hello,
I have 2 accounts (skype and Microsoft). While following the "how to", I log into Skype using my Microsoft user ID, sign in without issues, it then prompts me if I have a skype account, which I type in, it recognizes it and accepts it, then asks to merge both accounts... I select merge, it then defaults back to the login screen with the Skype user ID instead with "! Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later".

It might seems that the training center have created a new MCP ID for you. To solve your problem just give a call to your Microsoft Region Service Centers (https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/help.aspx) by calling them to merge your 2 MCP IDs to one
account.

My profile says my accounts are not linked. Windows for desktop works, but whe I try to open SKYPE from the Start Menu it doesnt let me open it. It say" OOPS..THERE WAS A PROBLEM.

Can't login to Skype with Microsoft account

Hello!
My problem is I can't login to Skype (website and program both) with Microsoft account. When I try to login to Skype on website, it says: There is a problem signing in with Microsoft account. Please try again or sign in with Skype details instead.
Please help me, I tried so many things and nothing works...

And me. And I tried to reset my password by getting the "password token" emailed to me. Once received I clicked on the link to reset my password and it told me that my "password token wasn't recognized" and to enter it manually. I did that, going as far as to cut and paste the token, and it wasn't "recognized" again.
And when I was able to sign in, I couldn't get any new contacts, even though I knew they were presently signed in.

I am having trouble with my skype and Microsoft ac...

I signed in with MS account. I tried to change my registered mail in profile settings, it aked my password. I tried using MS account password and it said wrong password. I forgot my skype password and i tried to recover it in another browser but it took me to MS account password resetting page, I changed the password. But again when I tried to change my registered mail in profile settings same thing happened showing password is wrong. And I also forgot my Skype name because I always use skype with MS account, when I tried to recover it, it is taking me again to MS passwod resseting page. So how can I change my primary e-mail address?

I am having the exact same issue. I am unable to login using Skype username and password, but it lets me sign in with microsoft account. Once I am signed in and trying to change profile settings (new email address), it asks me for my Skype password ("for security purposes") and it keeps saying I am not entering the correct password, then locks me out temporarily. If I choose "Forgot Password", it takes me to a prompt to change my microsoft account password. When I change, Skype account still does not recognize. Please help!

We presently try Windows 8.1 in my company. And we have a user/domain account, and this is perfect. Now I discovers we can sync/connect with a Microsoft account. I try to connect to a "business" Microsoft account. But if I do that I can't use Skype
with my personal account !
So my real question is when we use a domain account when we connect to a Microsoft Account, best utilization is to use our personal or a business Microsoft account?
And if I use a business account, how I can use Skype with my personal account?

This is an issue.
Linking the domain account to one online account is not something I am happy about at all. We need more flexibility around account settings please.

Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I am hoping to migrate our company from an in house SBS server to Office 365, I had expected that this issue would have been resolved by the Office 365 account also being a Microsoft Account. But I
have since learned that this is not the case, and for at least one good reason. Windows Store App licenses and payment information is linked to the Microsoft Account.
Please consider a small business of 50 to 100 users using Office 365 Enterprise where Users stay in the company between 1 to 3 years.
Not all staff joining the company would have a personal Microsoft Account, and even if the User did have a personal Microsoft Account, as the User's computer is a company asset, the company cannot violate the user's privacy by having the User use their own
Microsoft Account. And the company cannot risk the security implications of having the User's personal Microsoft account connected to their corporate computer and network.
The company IT department could create company owned Microsoft accounts for each User as well as Office 365 User accounts. And when a User leaves, log into the User's company Microsoft Account and check to ensure that the user has not placed any company
records on their Microsoft Account's OneDrive before deleting their User account. It will also mean deleting and creating a new Microsoft Account each time a User leaves the company and their replacement is hired.
However there is an issue here when the IT Department deletes the Microsoft Account the company looses the license for any software that they have purchased for the user.
So far the only solution I have been able to determine is to create company "role" based Microsoft Accounts and Office 365 accounts, then use Email Aliases to manage a personalised email address for any user working in that "role". For example we would have
roles "CEO", "Business.Manager", "Finance.Manager", "Finance.Assistant_1", "Communications.Office", "Marketing.Manager", "Sales.Rep_1", etc.
I understand that Enterprise organisations do not use Microsoft Accounts at all, but use Side-loading administered from an AD server to manage Windows Store Apps.
I would very much like to hear how companies are managing the issues caused by Microsoft Accounts, including the issue of there being two OneDrives, a Microsoft Account OneDrive and an Office 365 OneDrive for Business.
