Unlinking a phone number from iSO6 on iphone

Hi,
My fiance and I updated our iphones (we both have an iPhone 4s) to the iSO6 that was recently released. Part of the set up was choosing which numbers and email addresses were to be linked to the phone. Because my fiance and I are on the same cloud (and itunes account), the choices were contacts for both him and myself. My fiance accenently linked my numbers to his phone, so he is now seeing and recieving all my incomming and outgoing text messages.
I have looked through the settings to reverse this, but haven't found anything. Could someone please direct me to where I can unlink my contact numbers from his phone?
Thank you.

Getting each others text messages happens when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.  Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".
Are you also saying that you are seeing each other's contacts on your phones?

  • How do I unlink a phone number from iMessaging?

    Hi
I've just changed from an iPhone 4 to a Blackberry Z10, and no one with an iPhone can get through via text to my Blackberry. I've rung Orange - nothing they can do. I've rung GeekSquad who insure the phone, also nothing they can do.  I've tried everything I can to unlink to number, but it has no effect.
I have an iPhone 5 also, on another contract and can see its trying to send the message in blue as iMessage, but doesn't then try to send it as an SMS when that fails.
My Blackberry is my business phone, and often customers text me and many have iPhones - so I'm really in trouble until I can fix this, so any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
I've done this on both my old iPhone and my iPad, but it makes no difference other than actually whether the message is received anywhere.  If I untick the old phone number, and try and text my Blackberry from my new iPhone - the message still sends as an iMessage, but is not received by the Blackberry,  If I leave it ticked then I receive the iMessage on my iPad.  I need to unlink the phone number completely so that Apple no longer thinks its an iPhone.
    Thanks

  • Where is the web forum to unlink my phone number from imessage?

Recently read the article (Nov 2014) that stated"
"On Sunday the company published a Web form allowing users to unlink their phone from the iMessage service by entering their phone number and, after a short wait, a six-digit confirmation code sent to the number as a regular SMS to ensure it won't be left in limbo."
I cannot find this forum - where is it?
I am tired of my messages being hijacked by apple
    Thanks!

    Thanks.
So I went to the page and entered my # and got the code. When I entered the code it said my number is not registered and gave me an error.
I KNOW I'm not getting people's messages, so now what?

I change phones and i am not getting regular txt messages because somehow the messages are still sending through imessage which i no longer have.... I deleted my phone number from the account though as per instructiions from the phone carrier and is still not working...Any help?

    Hello jn_andrade,
It sounds like you are no longer getting text messages becuase your Apple ID is still using your phone number for iMessage. I would use these steps to unlink your phone number from your account:
    Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.

  • How do I remove phone number from iMessage on one device only

Hi there, I recently upgraded my iphone 4 for an iphone 6 and we decide to let my niece have the old iphone 4 with our account set up so that she can have the apps that we have as well.  Now, I am able to deactivate iMessage but I don't want her to "accidentally" turn it on and I noticed that if she were to do it she could select my phone number and start receiving iMessages addressed to my phone number.  Is there a way to completely delete/remove my phone number only from that iphone?  Thanks for the help

    Hey there Eminent Czar,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The article linked below will walk you through the process of unlinking the phone number from your Apple ID on the iPhone 4, so that it doesn’t receive iMessages that were intended for your new iPhone 6.
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support

  • Unlink phone number from Apple ID due to facetime

Apple ID used for many years shared by family. Bought many songs and apps to be used on wife and kids iphone ipod touches.  NOW with facetime I want to be able to remove my phone number from that Apple ID and create a new one JUST FOR FACETIME.  Keep the original id just for purchases; sharing apps with family. Problem is our ipads use the original id and seem to be assigned my phone number and email.  I do NOT want my wife and kids getting my facetime calls and texts!!  I have created the new id but cannot seem to remove my phone number from the old id.  DO I need to completely reset my iphone to do this?  Do I also need to reset the kids ipads?

    Hi, Dranon.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are the steps for removing your phone number from your Apple ID.  I also would recommend signing out completely of iMessage and FaceTime on any device that uses your Apple ID.

TechCrunch posted a solution today that applies to this problem, I think.
    Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Click your old iPhone and "unregister" it.

  • I replaced my iPhone with a Galaxy 5 and am not receiving all of my text messages. The sales person told me to remove my phone number from iTunes to stop this from happening. Is that true? What does iTunes have to do with text messages?

I replaced my iPhone with a Samsung Galaxy5 and I am not receiving all of my text messages now. The rep at the store told me to go to iTunes and take my phone # off of the account and that would fix the problem. Is that true? What does iTunes have to do with text messages anyway?

You need to remove your phone number from the iMessage system.

Frequently asked questions about Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5622
An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID.
How do I change my Apple ID Name or personal information?
You can change your Apple ID Name at My Apple ID. Click on Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your Apple ID name and password. Click Edit and enter the new information, then click Save Changes. Changes take effect immediately. You can also use My Apple ID to change your personal information, such as your mailing address or email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.

  • Is there an ical/iphone app that allows you to call a phone number from ica

I schedule hourly appointments with clients and type the name and phone number for each client directly on the schedule. Does anybody know of an app that would allow me to simply tap on that phone number from ical to call the client? Otherwise, i have to look at ical on my phone, remember the number, click to phone and enter it in manually. Thanks!

There no app for that, no. But, if you enter the number into the Notes field of the appointment (but not the name or location fields), you can tap the number to dial it from the Calendar app.
