Unlock frames in pages 5.2.2

I am making a book with many documents and photos. In a document with many pages, some are enclosed by a yellow frame which makes it impossible to delete or move one page within the frame.If you delete, the whole content of the document will be deleted. The usual thing to is just right click on the page highlighted and this only will be deleted. But not in Pages 5.2.2

You have to say why you have problems, we can't guess.
LibreOffice [free] is an excellent Word clone with many features but not as smooth as Pages.
Swift Publisher is cheap and has many good features for book publishing.
There are many options with different feature sets, you need to look for yourself in the App Store or MacUpdate.com

The correct term in Pages is Text Boxes, and true linking is not implemented in v5.2. You can Unite, Intersect, Subtract, and Exclude multiple Text Boxes via the Arrange panel. These attributes only appear when two or more Text Boxes are selected. Also, on the Arrange menu, you will need Object Placement set to Move with Text, and the Text Wrap set to None for more accurate positioning.
In the following example, there was initially a Text Box with overflowing text that was duplicated. With both Text Boxes selected and aligned, I could then use the Unite feature from the Arrange panel. This allowed the text to flow into the second box. Selecting text in one box and dragging upwards continues the text selection between both boxes. Hoefler italic applied in one box is applied to both. Appropriately placed, another trip to the Arrange panel to enable Text Wrap around and text fit adjustments.

Multiple frames in report - Need output on 1 page (not one frame per page)

I have a report with multiple frames and in the output they are printing one frame per page. How can i have one below the other and not have this page break?

Check the following in frame properties:
Maximum Records per Page: should be 0
Page Break Before: should be No
Page Break After: should be No

You do have one or more empty photo frames. Most often it will be a full page photo page missing behind a placed full page photo. To find it you need to go through you'd book and look behind each full page photo

Deleted page unforgettable by frame-set page or index

I created a frame-set with one frame linked to a page. A button on the index file linked to the page supporting the frame-set. I deleted that initial page linked to a frame and replaced it with a http link. I saved the changes. The frame-set preview and source code presents that http code link. Nowhere in the source code for the index file or the frame-set page is there reference to the deleted page. The index file button has been deleted and recreated with a link to the recreated frame-set. Those changes were saved. Yet in preview the index file always presents an erroneous link to the non-existent deleted page. This occurs after the site has been closed and re-opened. There's clearly a bug here I don't know how to work around. Anyone with experience with this?

I have downloaded adobe files from a web site. However they are not automatically downloading and popping up in a PDF format (and they should be). The new version was downloaded on my machine this week and I'm think ing that had an impact on this procedure. Prior to new version akll I had to do was double clip on the link and it would automatically open up....what can I do to get this fixed?

How to unlock Frames in Dreamweaver so I can edit pages in Contribute

I use Contribute to update content.
Recently my designer added google-ads in frames using Dreamweaver.
Now my Contribute is not allowing me to edit pages where google-ads was added.
It says the frames are locked and shows the lock icon.
The designer who did the work in Dreamweaver says everything is unlocked in Dreamweaver.
What do we need to do:
1. unlock the frames in Dreamweaver so I can edit the pages in Contribute
2.does the google-ad code need to be put in on each page rather than as a Frame?

How to seperate (unlock) frames/pages?

Hello. I have a dokument of 80 pages of text. Now my problem is that when i edit in one page/frame the other pages/frames relativise to the changes (for eksample move up or down). Now i want them to stop adjusting to eachother synchronically so that I can edit one page/frame with the next changing aswell.
To kind of unlock the pages from eachother, non-synkronize them. How do I do that?

It sounds to me like your text is a single "story" running through a series of "threaded" frames. This is normal when working with long passages of text since normally you want text following an edit to either flow back to fill a deletion or push down to make room for additions. In susch cases empty space or "overset" text ends up at the end of the thread in the last frame of the story.
There is a sample script included with InDesign called SplitStory that will break the links between the threaded frames, making each one a separate story. If a paragraph happens to cross the boundary betwen two frames it will be split into two parts, and the second half will be treated as a new paragraph. If the style calls for a first line indent, that will be applied to the first line in the unlinked frame.

Master Text Frame for Page Heading

Hello, I am new to indesign and using CS4. Sorry if this is a newbie question.
I am creating a pdf digital presentation and laying it out. I want to create a consistent header on each page in the top left corner and ensure it is in the exact same location on each page. I also want to make sure the text size, font, and color is consistent on each page. Most importantly, if I need to change anything, lets say a font, I want to only do it in one place and not do it on all 20 pages in my document.
My understanding is to add a text frame to the master page. However, how do I edit the text on each page and not have it show on my cover page which is page 1 of my document?

Create a text frame on the master page (make it wide enough and deep enough for the longest heading)
Insert some generic text like "Heading"
Give it a paragraph style
Adjust the paragraph style to your liking
Go to each page you want to change, and CTRL SHIFT (cmd shift on mac) and double click the "Heading"
Change the text to what you want it to look like.
To alter the text colour/font etc. for all of them - adjust the paragraph style
To edit the text style for each heading so they look different in terms of colour etc. - just change the Character Colour via the swatches.
if you do this, then any changes to the Paragraph style should follow through on all pages - except where you've perhaps changed the character colour (or any other hand-adjusted changes to the text.
Also - if you move the Text Frame on the master page they should all move on the corresponding pages, provided you haven't moved them by hand on the actual pages.

Name Exported PDFs with a filename generated from text frame on page

Does anyone have an idea how to do the following? We are on InDesign CS5 on a Mac running OSX 10.6
We are plan on creating a document of say 100 pages. On each page will be a photo of a product and some text frames. In one of the frames will be the product's SKU code - which we will enter manually.
What I want is that we can then export each page as a separate PDF and the filename of each PDF will be taken from the SKU code present in the text frame with .pdf appended.
Has anyone done something like this?

Back Button - Why does it go back a FRAME (framed pages) instead a PAGE ?

In a "framed" site, the Back button causes the display going back one frame, following back goes back another frame, 3 framed page needs 3 backs to finally beeing back on previous page. Why ? Error in page setup or in handling of FF?

This is clearly a heavy bug in FF4, and now also continued in FF5.
The typical "main" window on the right side, within a frameset, is not going back when using the Back function, when this window is targeted from any JavaScript in the menu in the window on the left (or top) side.
If a "main" window is targeted instead by plain HTML, or out of an Applet, the back function in FF4 and FF5 behave correctly.
This bug can be verified by querying anything from a site like
http://www2.rgzm.de/navis2/home/FramesE.cfm
All websites using JavaScript based frameworks this way won't work correctly anymore in FF4 and FF5.
Thus, when the menu in a left frame is JavaScript driven, FF4 and FF5 don't now about its history anymore. This worked in FF3 and it is perfectly working in all other browsers. This serious bug will force users of any JavaScript based menu in a website to switch to one of these other browsers.
Its not clear to me whether the JavaScript engine does something wrong, or whether FF4 and FF5 itself are not keeping track correctly. What is clear, however, that this basci functionality was broken somewhere between FF3 and FF4.

Creating frames in Pages

I am trying to create a document with lots of thumbnail images and accompanying text. It does not matter if the text is above, below or alongside the images, or if it wraps.
Is there a way that I can make frames/boxes to contain them so that I don't have a page break leaving all the text or the image on different pages - it does not matter if the text goes over as long as text or graphic are not totally orphaned.
I'd like to have a box that I can copy and paste to a new page, or insert into an existing page, each time a new item is added to the catalogue with the items below moving down but I don't see how to do it either in WP or layout mode.

I only did a very quick test, but I think this method works--experiment with it in a new sample doc:
Eliminate all frames, tables, etc.
Set the thumbnail to INLINE instead of floating (in the Inspector>Wrap). You can still set text to wrap around it. Inline graphics automatically move with text, but the default setting for an inserted graphic appears to be floating.
Then select the image and the text you want it to stay with, and go to Inspector>Text>More. Check "Keep lines together". In my text, This pushed a paragraph and picture split across two pages all onto one page.
You should be able to experiment with styles, hopefully, to make this more efficient and get exactly what you want. Or once the pix are inline, the default "prevent widow and orphan lines" setting may be enough without any additional adjustment.

In a Frame someother page content gets loaded (always I get indianrail.gov.in home page content in frames of all pages)

If I load any page using Mozilla firefox, I find Indian Railway site home page coming up in some of the frames. This problem does not occur in Internet Explorer.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but this problem continues. If required I can provide a screen shot of the problem. For example : If I need to design a template for any site, I should get a blank box for template design. But in Firefox, this blank box is filled with Indianrail.gov.in website home page not allowing me to do any work. Pl help in solving this issue.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the affected files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

How to set the HOME link from two frame jsp page to no frame main page?

Hi all,
i have one main jsp page named as main.jsp.
From the main.jsp, i can click the button and link to the twoFrame.jsp.
This twoFrame.jsp have another two different jsp inside the frame called Aframe.jsp and Bframe.jsp.
i try to put HOME in the Aframe.jsp(one of the page inside twoFrame.jsp) but only the Aframe.jsp manage to link to main.jsp but the Bframe still there.
My question is: How to set the HOME link button from this twoFrame.jsp to the main.jsp? what i want is from twoFrame.jsp(two frame) to main.jsp(no frame).

But as a more specific answer, you have to set a target for the link to the _parent of your frame:

Unlock template on page by page basis?

Is it possible to "unlock" a template on a page by pages basis?
Here is my senerio. I have a template set up with a blank Verticle spry menu bar on the left. As I create each page, I enter the menu items that pertain to that page. . . however, there are SOME pages that just don't need a menu.
When I delete the spry menu bar I get a warning that there is javascript that needs to be deleted also but because that javascript is in a "locked" region I can't get rid of it.
Is it possible to unlock the template to remove that?
Or, ok, my brain finally gave me an idea, I should probably create a SECOND template without the menu bar shouldn't I?

No, it won't. The continued existence of the script will cause a JavaScript error on the page whenever it's loaded.
The OP had already struck on the right answer - separate templates. Alternatively, you can detach a page from a template by selecting Modify > Templates > Detach from Template. However, doing so results in the page no longer being updated if you make changes to the template.

I have a got problem while making reports on 6i.
My report format is like
First page:
HEADER1 (in REPEATING FRAME RH direction DOWN, Print on FIRST PAGE)
COLUMNS REPEATING FRAME RI (direction ACCROSS, Print on ALL PAGES)
COL1 COL1
COL2 COL2
COL3 COL3
COL4 COL4
First page is displaying alright with maximum posible columns of frame RI but remaining columns does not displaying on next page. New group valuse of repeating RH stats there.
Please help
