I upgraded to Iphone 5 Oct 1st, my old contract for the Iphone 4 expires Dec 27th. AT&T Service Agreement (Devices) 3.1 (b) states early upgrade is eligible for unlock. I called AT&T for the third time after receiving a second negative unlock response by email, I talked with a supervisor and threatened a Class Action against AT&T and they responded by emmediatly unlocking my Iphone 4.

I have a 2010 Cadillac CTS that no longer works w/my iPhone 4 after iOS7 Upgrade.  Any suggestions?  It worked well before the upgrade.

I'm sorry...my question was imprecise.  When I said 'no longer works' I was referring to plugging the device into the USB and power jacks in the center console and then being able to play music through the radio and control the device from either the radio or the steering wheel buttons.  The iPhone 4 I use for this purpose has no cellular service and has never been paired with the car.  I have an iPhone 5 with cellular service that is paired with the car.  I cannot test theiPhone 5 with the car because of the difference of connectors on the phone.   :-(  The iPhone 4, however, works fine in my wife's Hyundai Santa Fe.
    Thanks, in advance!

When did you upgrade to 4.1? 4.1 is no longer signed by Apple. It's no longer possible to (legitimately) install 4.1.

  • If i have an unlocked iphone 5 can i upgrade it to an iphone 5s and pay the difference ?

if i have an unlocked iphone 5 can i upgrade it to an iphone 5s and pay the difference?

Then, you own the phone. Your only options are sell the phone yourself or see what programs are offered by third-parties or your carrier.

  • I cannot find battery percentages on 'Find my iPhone' app in iPhone 5 after iOS7 upgrade

I cannot find my other iDevices' battery percentages through using 'Find my iPhone' app in iPhone 5 after iOS7 upgrade.
Before iOS7, I used to check my devices battery percentages and charging status
on 'Find iPhone' app. It showed battery charging or not by lightening emoticon something
on up-right corner of their display.
It can check only iCloud desktop website now.
Green battery icon means 'charging now'
    Black icon means not charging.

  • How can i increase battery life in my iphone 5 after ios7 upgrade

will apple fix this huge problem of half of battery life in my verizon iphone 5 after ios7 upgrade? or should i just go back to ios6?

all I can say is APPLE has no official way to go back to a previous version of OS X.  Perhaps there are hacks, but I cant speak of them here.  Also, that link was only given to you an hour ago, so give it more time to see if it helps with battery life until a more stable version of iOS 7 is released.  Im not happy about the battery life either.

  • Can't make calls or sms on iphone 3gs after iOs5 upgrade?

I upgraded to iOS5 on my iphone 3gs and I am having major problems connecting to the 3g network. I can't make or recieve calls or sms, or log on to the internet over the 3g network. wifi works fine, but that doesn't help with the calls or the sms, and i can't always be on wifi for my emails. the phone worked fine before the upgrade.
i've restored the entire phone as a new phone, i've gone in to the apple store and had my phone looked at, they say there's nothing wrong with the hardware.
i live in Canada and my carrier is Rogers - of course when I call them for help they say it must be the phone not their network. they'd rather i buy a new phone and sign another 3 year contract
the only thing that seems to help is restoring network settings. immediately after doing that I can make calls, send and receive sms, and use the internet over 3g. but it only fixes it temporarily... after about 15 mins I'm back to the same problem. can't make or receive call etc.
anyone else having this same problem?
    anyone know of a solution?

After 2 hours with Apple Support, which was great, we figured out the issue. 1-800-my-iphone. When I upgraded to iOS5 and started using the iCloud, I was unaware that my previous synching settings were still set to Yahoo.com where I had been sycning wirelessly in the past. So the Apple support tech showed me that I had multiple accounts in both Notes and Contacts. I had iPhone, iCloud, yahoo, Outlook accounts and my default settings on the iphone should have all been set to icloud. Syching was occuring, but not in icloud. It took a little manual conversion of some Notes and Contacts into the icloud folders in Outlook, but now everything works and I only display and use the iCloud accounts in Notes and Contacts. Apple realizes that this is an issue for those of us that were previously using Yahoo and equivalents for wireless synching and they provded my support free. Usually they charge $27. All is well.

  • Notes from Iphone gone after IOS7 Upgrade

Hi, I upgrade my Iphone5 to IOS7 and all my notes on Iphone are not lost after the upgrade. There were some very important notes. Is there any way to get them back.
    Thanks,
    Pavan.

In the Notes app click the Accounts tab at the top left corner and you will have several options for saving your notes. One is your email and one is your iPhone. Your email is selected by default so if you didn't change this setting they should be copied in your email and your missing note should be there. However if you delete the saved copy from your email it will remove the note from your app.

  • I have one iPhone 8GB. after making upgrade of iTunes and software of iPhone, it's impossible to use the iPhone. There's no service! doesn't acept the code PIN! it only make emergency calls and the image in the phone is to conect to iTunes. What can i do?

I have one iPhone 8GB. After making un upgrade of iTunes and software of iPhone, it's impossible to use it. There's no service! doesn't acept PIN code! it only makes emergency calls and the image in the iPhone is the sign to connect to iTunes. What can i do to solve it?

Where are you and where did you get the phone.  This sounds like a classic symptom of someone who bought an iPhone that originated in the U.S. which was then hacked so it would run on a carrier network other than AT&T... Then, when updating the phone, it becare re-locked to AT&T.
If that's what happened, you now own a paperweight. AT&T will NOT unlock them for any reason.
If this isn't the case, please clarify where you are, what carrier you have and where you got the phone so we can begin troubleshooting.

  • Unlock iphone 4 after 2 years?

Am travelling to UK, and wonder if I can unlock my iPhone 4 and use a 'pay as you go' account while I am there.  I have had this phone for 2 years, am eligible for upgrade to 4S which has a sim card slot, but I've heard that I can legally ask Verizon to unlock my 4 now. If I upgrade to 4S, can I swap out the Verizon global sim card for a different card for short term use in UK, or will the phone reject it if not unlocked?

Verizon cannot unlock a CDMA only phone, which is what the iPhone 4 is. For the 4S, you could ask Verizon to unlock it if you qualify, however with the 4S, I believe they can unlock the SIM for an International SIM, just not a US GSM carrier. You could not just swap the Verizon SIM for a local SIM without the unlock.

  • Still no WiFi on iPhone 4s after OS7 upgrade - Need upgrade

    Dear Verizon, Apple et al,
You've got us between a rock and a hard place. My daughter's recently upgraded iPhone 4s has no Wifi. With four phones on Verizon and as long-time customers, we've been very good and loyal. But this situation is untenable. With a year-old phone my daughter upgraded her device to OS7 when it become available (and was prompted to). Since then (beginning of September, within her year warranty period) her phone has been unable to connect to Wifi. The Wifi is greyed out. We are a long-time Apple family and when I say, I've done everything...it means, I've tried everything with this phone to get it working again. She was away at college and unable to get into an Apple store before her year warranty expired, so she was unable to get a replacement. We kept waiting for Apple to provide a fix. To issue a statement. To own up to the mess they've caused. Nothing.. Really? Oh Apple, how far you've fallen. Steve Jobs on his fluffy  iCloud is definitely turning over and frowning.
Verizon, we need an upgraded devise. Her phone quit functioning within the year period (you can see this by the alarming amount of data she's using), but she couldn't travel to Apple or Verizon to get it replaced within that time period. Can you take care of this please? We'll have to go elsewhere for her, and once one has left the fold, the rest will follow.
    Thank you,
    Long-time customer
    DJhinVA

I agree with you. So many of us 4s users have been affected by this. I am at the two year mark myself so no warranty replacement for me unfortunately. I tried all apples suggested fixes and nothing works. Putting it in the fridge can get me going for a few minutes and I am able to update some of my larger apps this way, but in general my data usage has certainly increased and I have to really monitor it closely now. I believe it is Apples problem to deal with and remedy this issue warranty or not, it is obvious that it is the iOS 7 upgrade that has screwed the 4s users. Whether intentional or not it appears to be a conspiracy theory to get us to upgrade to the iPhone 5 which is really sad. I like the apple line and there is just no coincidence that so many 4s users were and are being affected by this plague of losing wifi capability so soon after this so called "fantastic" upgrade was announced and encouraged to be implemented. If I knew then what I know now I would have never upgraded! This just shows me two things, apple didn't not fully test this upgrade thoroughly enough, or that it shows the 4s was created with sub standard components which were over tasked and burned out with the iOS 7 update or soon thereafter. Apples only option for me was to pay them $199 to have my phone replaced! I would sooner spend $199 towards a new iPhone 5s before getting a replacement 4s that is sure to fail due to these existing issues. OR, has Apple pushed out the iOS 7.03 and 7.04 updates to rectify the problem and prevent more 4s phones from burning up their chips!? If so that is great however it leaves those of us that have already been affected holding the bag of goods and have been seriously harmed in the process. Apple needs to stand up and do the honorable thing to rectify the situation such in a manner that is similar with recalls on automobiles. For my phone I believe the damage is done and the updates have physically irreversibly damaged my phone. This is your one chance Apple, to make this right. Should you choose not to do so reflects a disgrace not only for your company as a whole but also for your employees from top to bottom as this in turn will hurt your future sales and profits like you have never seen. You have taken pride in producing quality products in the past. You were the leader that other OS followed. Now it appears you are following other OS's and your fan base is dropping like a rock. Not providing a viable solution to this problem will only hurt your reputation and status further. You have a choice to do what is right, and I seriously hope you will take it. I personally have more than 6 different iDevices in my own and will elect to buy non Apple products in the future along with encouraging other friends and family members to follow suit based on my own recent experience with your 4s / Debacle. Word of mouth goes a long way and can certainly turn out to be your worst enemy! Here is your chance Apple to do what is right, please make this right. • IPhone issue after OS8 upgrade

After upgrading to OS8 my incoming phone calls also ring on my wives iPhone when we are both connected to our home wifi. How do you stop this

    Hi readski1956,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like both your and your wife’s iPhones are set up to use a feature called Continuity. This can happen when both deceives are signed into the same iCloud account, same Wi-Fi network, and signed into the same FaceTime account as the iCloud account. Wi-Fi calling needs to be off as well. You could change any one of these settings to disable calls going to both devices. Please use the attached article for more information.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
    Phone calls
With Continuity, you can make and receive cellular phone calls from your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac when your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network.
To make and receive phone calls, here's what you need:
Sign in to the same iCloud account on all your devices, including your Mac.
Your iPhone and your iPad or iPod touch need to use iOS 8 or later. Your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
All devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
All devices must be signed in to FaceTime using the same iCloud account. This means any device that shares your Apple ID will get your phone calls. Look below for instructions on how to turn off iPhone cellular calls.
Wi-Fi Calling needs to be off. Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.
    Best regards,
    Joe

  • "damaged iphone" message after attempted upgrade to 4.0

I have a "legally unblocked" iphone 3g bought 2 years ago in Russia. (I am actually from USA but spend most of my time working in developing countries outside of the US)
I have always upgraded my software through itunes and never had a problem with it re-activating. I have lived and worked in several countries and use the same phone with several different sim cards. I never had a problem. Now I am based in China and have been using a sim card from China Mobile for the past 2 months. Today I decided to upgrade the OS 4.0, and upon completion I get the message:
"There is a problem with your Iphone. We're sorry, the iphone you connected maybe be damaged and cannot be activated for service. We recommend you visit your nearest Apple store for more information."
Yeah right... I live in a city called "Harbin" and an Apple Store nearby is only in my dreams... This message is like putting "salt in my wound"...
I tried putting back the 3.1.3 OS and it still gives me the same message. Basically it appears my iphone that was working perfectly before the upgrade is now ruined. I am so disappointed. Anyone with the same problem?
