Unlock multiple folders within other folders

I have several folders within other folders that when I transferred them from my PC to Mac, became locked for some reason. These are folders that contain music files. (mp3,.wma, etc) My question is rather than going into each folder and unlocking the sub folder, is there a way to unlock all folders and their subfolders. ex. Folder named "Metallica" has folders within named "...and Justice For All" and "Reload" The Metallica folder is unlocked but the folders with in are not. Can anyone help? Thanks

Welcome to Discussions, dozer5000!
Open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, and copy the blue text in. DO NOT PRESS RETURN YET!
chflags -R nouchg
after the "g" in "nouchg", type a space. Then go to the folder you want to unlock in Finder ("Metallica", I think you said), and drag it into Terminal. Now press return.
That should fix it.
Good luck!

  • Unlocking multiple folders within Iphoto Library folder

I just bought ILife 06 and the pics in iphoto will not upgrade because Im assuming some of the pics within the folders in the Iphoto Library are locked. I transferred a lot of these pics from a cd rom and apparently files transferred in such a way are always locked. Can anyone help me unlock these folders in a way where I don't have to manually unlock all the folders/files... I have about 36,000 pics.

There are two ways to do it. One is to follow direcetions in this Apple KB document: iPhoto 6: "Unable to upgrade this photo library" message. The other is to download and use BatChmod and drag your iPhoto library folder into the file window like this.

  • How do I created multiple folders within folders in "Photo"

How do I created multiple folders within folders (subfolders) in "Photo".  It happens in the first level when I use the Albums folder, but thereafter it doesn't allow me to create another folder within the folder.  I can also not drag a folder into another, after the first level of folders.  Please help.

Yes you can.  Click once on the top folder and use the File ➙ Create Folder menu option.  A new folder will be created inside the selected folder:

  • Can I export multiple folders at the same time, keeping the album structure

I'm exporting all of my photos from 2010 so far. Is there a way to export multiple folders at the same time, while keeping the existing album structure? It seems that when I try it, iPhoto exports them all to the same folder.
I really don't want to do this one album at a time, and here's why -
I'd like to select all of the albums, then export, using the plugin, to WalMart so that I can order prints.

    Check out [iPhotoToDisk|http://www.iphototodisk.com/index.html]
I'd like to select all of the albums, then export, using the plugin, to WalMart so that I can order prints.
Why not upload to Walmart from iPhoto? Check out the first option here:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Would like to be able to select and move multiple folders in one operation.

Unless I'm missing something really simple here, there doesn't seem to be any easy way of selecting and moving multiple folders at once.
Here's a little example of a simple task I want to do. I presently have a multitude of folders each seperated by the day the photo was taken on. So in my case for a given year I might have maybe 50 folders or so. It's getting a little cluttered, so all I want to be able to do is to take all the folders for one given year and place them in a folder with that year's date. This should be a simple 30 second task, simply select the folders I want moved by either <CTRL> or <SHIFT> clicking them, and then dragging and dropping them into the new folder.
Right now, the only way I've figured how to do this this is to drag and drop each folder one by one, never mind that this is a slow process in itself, but to add to the slowness, whenever I try to drag and drop more than one folder consecutively, I get a message saying ... "Can not move a folder while another move operation is in progress...blah blah". Not that I want this to be the fix, but haven't they heard of queuing?
I've seen people on the net suggest that for this type of task, you should simply move the folders in Windows first and then locate them in Lightroom. Again, unless I'm missing something very simple here, there doesn't seem to be a way to locate multiple missing folders at once. If I have to manually locate each missing folder one by one, then I'd rather just do the drag and drop thing as this would actually be faster.
I've also tried moving the folders from within Windows first and then using the "Synchronize folder" option, yeah sure this works, but I lose any changes that I've done in Develop module. Not what I'm looking for.

Daniel is right. It´s really strange that I can´t move several folders in one move! When I need more space on my laptop I move a group of folders (one folder for every photosession) to an archive. Therefore I really would like to move them in one click, not "baby-sitting" the move of each folder.

  • Bridge CS6 Script to Find Multiple Images in Multiple folders.

Is it possible to have a script to find multiple images within multiple folders that is on a external hard drive?
For instances I have a external hard drive assuming it's for a library of pictures.
Inside this hard drive has folders named as below
    1-1000
    1001-2000
    2001-3000
    3001-4000
If I had a perfect csv file for example that calls out for specific pictures for example 2, 10,1500 and 2000 (remember think big, it may be a larger list than this it could be hundreds or thousands of pictures); is there a script that would allow me to find these images and save a copy of them on to my desktop so that way I don't have to hunt for them in the old fashion way? I can read scripts but writing them is a different story.

If you want to go with Batch I would recommend creating an Action of more or less these steps:
    • set the resolution to the same as the background image’s
    • change the image from Background Layer to regular Layer if necessary
    • convert it to a Smart Object
    • add a Drop Shadow Layer Style to the image (do not use Global Angle)
    • place the background image (File > Place …)
    • move it behind the image layer
    • Image > Reveal All
    • make Selection from that layer’s transparency (cmd-click its icon in the Layers Panel) and use Image > Crop
    • select and transform the image layer to fit the intended position
This would naturally work out best if the images had the same size and proportions.
For the reflection on the floor duplicate the image, flip it vertically, move it in position and reduce its opacity to maybe 10%.
Realistically you may have to hide it partially behind the pillows, a Vector Mask would be an option.

  • Selecting multiple folders to make a contact sheet

When creating a contact sheet in Bridge CS4, is it possible to select multiple folders so that you can pull multiple images? I tried saving a contact sheet pdf while selecting the folders, but Bridge is requesting that I select the files within the folder. It would seem counterproductive to extract all my images from all the folders to place them in a single location just to make a contact sheet. I hope I'm just missing something basic.
    Thanks

The only thing I can think of for this purpose is to use the option to show
items from subfolders (in the View menu) and have a flat view for the whole
content of the mainfolder containing the desired subfolders.
If you have only a view items from subfolders instead of the whole content
from that subfolder you are bound to use either labeling or rating and
    select them with filterpanel options.
And there is some other thing that comes to my mind, open them in PS and
choose the option to create contactsheet from open files.
However it is to my knowledge not possible to select items from different
folders in one time, neither in Finder, nor in Bridge.

  • Batch Process multiple files in multiple folders

I am using Acrobat 8.0.0 on Windows XP.
Is there a way to create some type of macro to combine multiple PDFs within multiple folders? Or better yet, I'd like to combine the files into a PDF package with security.
Thanks, let me know if I need to be more clear of provide more info.

    Thanks!
From what I can tell Process Multiple Files allows input from three places:
    1. A folder. 2. Import (like a scanner?) 3. Open files.
So it might be nice if it had a 4th option that would allow files to come out
of Organizer via tags, albums, etc. And if that option was chosen then it
would be nice to save the tags, and create version sets optionally.
But my guess is that from a product design perspective the thinking is
that most people would rather work in Organizer and then perform
actions on a logical set of photos from there. Certainly, that would be my
    preference.
What I'd like to do is do be in Organizer, select my images via tag(s),
run QuickFix on them, (all of that I can do), then reduce the file size,
and save the finished product as a version set. Then only thing I can't do
in PSE7 is reduce the file size. Of if there is I don't know how to do
    it automatically.
    Well, thanks for the help!

  • Adding item in multiple folders

    Hello,
we are using 3.0.9 portal version content areas. When a item is added, it should be posted or created in two folders. Is it possible? if so Can you explain how?
    Thanks
    Sha

No - playlists are created within iTunes, the only way to get from somewhere else is to Import them (but not the music).
Music files don't import as playlists - they get arranged into Artist / Album sequence. You can import one folder at a time by creating a playlist first, then drag and drop the folder into it. But not multiple folders into multiple playlists.

  • Filter on keyword across multiple "folders"

It is clear that I can filter for specified keyword within a "folder."
This does not provide much convenience, it seems to me. I want to locate images with a given keyword across a large number of "folders" including even my entire C: drive. I must be missing something, because there is little advantage if filtering for a specified keyword is limited to what you might see in the thumbnails on the Bridge screen.
I nearly always store my images by date, with the "folder" name being the date taken. I plan to use Bridge to assign multiple keywords to all my images stored on my computer, a tedious chore, but one that I can do a bit at one time; say one day's shooting per day until I eventually catch up with several years of shooting.
There must be some functionality that I am ignorant of which allows the user to filter on all, repeat all, images tagged, for example, "Sarah." I have tried searching the FAQs and have failed to find the answer. I have tried highlighting a couple of "folders" but the "filter" functionality is not available as far as I can tell. Please tell me what I must do to exploit the Filter functionality across multiple "folders."

I much appreciate the very useful information from Sergei Urlof, and I am using it. But I could use even more information, to speed up what I am trying to do. I want to know some efficient work flow procedures for using the keyword functionality.
I want to tag every appropriate image file that I have in storage with the name of the persons pictured. I see that when I open a folder in Bridge, and follow the File/File Info route, I can assign a keyword to the file, or more keywords if I use a comma. I see that the keywords I assign are shown on the bottom right side of screen. I see that if I open a different folder, the keywords are carried over, and I can locate/highlight other files with a particular person pictured, and can assign a keyword by clicking in the box by the keyword. This saves me the steps involved in File/File Info and typing in a keyword that is already in the list shown bottom right.
HOWEVER, as soon as I close that particular Bridge session, I lose that list, or at least so it seems to me. How do I recover the list of all keywords that I have assigned previously and make them available for clicking, for use with a folder newly opened? I can imagine using variations of names for a given person as keywords, and that would lead to poor filtering. That is, I do not see a keyword-name for an image of a certain person, so I type in a name in the File/File Info Keyword box. But it is a slight variant of one I have used before; e.g., Victoria instead of Vicki. I would not use a variant if the list of previously assigned keywords were displayed.
So, how do I bring up the previously assigned keywords, for use in a new Bridge session?

  • Sync with multiple folders?

I would like to sync multiple folders with my iPhone, but the user interface only allows me to select folders that are at the same directory level - I can't select subfolders that are more than one level deep, or multiple folders from arbitrary locations.
Is there a way to do this?
I am syncing from a Windows computer, although I also own a Mac, and could possibly sync from there if it makes a difference.
    Thanks,
    Frank

You can only sync with one folder; no way around that - you need to collect the pics into that folder, or subfolders within that folder - subfolders within that folder are treated as "albums" within the Photos app in the iPhone. There's no way around that. The same is true on the Mac if you choose to sync to a folder. On the Mac you can also choose to sync to the iPhoto library, but even so, just to the one library and selected albums within that library.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Create multiple playlists by dragging multiple folders?

As the subject says, I'd like to be able to drag multiple folders into iTunes' Playlist column to create a playlist for each folder (and given the same names as each folder). Unfortunately, iTunes only creates one folder named "Untitled Playlist" when multiple folders are added. My music library is divided into hundreds of folders, each named for the artist who's music is contained within. Having to individually drag each folder into iTunes is a royal pain.
Is there a shortcut or key combination that will allow this? Or is this just a major iTunes feature shortcoming? I can only hope that this is addressed in a future update.

My music library is divided into hundreds of folders, each named for the artist who's music is contained within. Having to individually drag each folder into iTunes is a royal pain.
Creating a playlist for each artist is also a pain, especially when iTunes does this automatically.
iTunes menu View -> Show browser.
Select the Genre, Artist, Album (or multiple items) to see only those items.
The more playlists you have the more it will slow down as i tneeds to rewrite the iTunes library file and iTunes library.xml after almost anything you do in iTunes such as listen to a song, skip a song, cahnge any info, etc.

  • Keyword tag search across multiple folders?

In using windows XP aand Photoshop Elements 9.  My photos are located in multiple folders and sub folders.  I can tag photos in various folders, but when I use a tag to search for photos, i only get results for whatever folder is open in Organizer.  I cannot get it to return photos in more than one folder.  All the folders are "managed" and all are subfolders within the "Catalog."  What am I not doing or not understanding?

  • Import images from multiple folders at once?

I know that Lightroom handles this as expected, but I cannot work out how to get Aperture to import everything within a folder including all of it's subfolders. For example, my photos are organised by Lightroom in folders per day, eg. 2006-10-12. It's getting tedious having to go through every single folder to import, but if I try selecting multiple folders, or the folder that contains these then none of the photos appear. What is the solution?

Try File->Import->Folders as Projects... and in the Pop-up menu you can choose Import Folders as: Projects and Albums or Folders and Projects from the drop down. You can also choose the sub folder structure. You should be able to choose multiple folders and have all the folders and sub folders organized the way you want. Give it a test try before committing a large number.
