Good day, I tried to call EE a couple of times but did not pass. I was wondering if you can help me. I live in The Netherlands. I bought a refurbished Samsung galaxy S4 on Groupon. so far, no problem... I received the phone in good condition and was very amused and cannot wait to configure it. When I set up al the setting (language etc) the phone asked me for a sim network unlock pin. Like I said, I've bought the phone on groupon and they telled us that the phone must be free for every simcard. Can you PLEASE give me a unlock code so I can use my new phone with my own dutch sim card? Thanks a lot!
Talk to the carrier to whom it is locked.

Well, 99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, either get a sim card from the carrier your phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked. -

If the phone is connected to the Internet and contains your account you can erase the phone by
1 Going to ( www.icloud.com) and sign in With your account (the account you use in the stolen phone)
2 go to Find My iPhone
3 if the phone connected to internet you will see the phone on the map
4 choose the phone and click (erase everything)

I bought my iphone from carephone warehouse, sim free and with no contract. 5 months down the line I had a problem with the phone and I booked a genius appointment, they swapped my phone and gave me a new phone but they locked my phone to tmobile!!! I now do not use tmobile and I have an iphone which is locked to tmobile!!! I bought an unlocked phone and apple have locked it!!! what can i do?
In response to this, Carphone Warehouse (and Phones4U) sell what is commonly referred to as "sim free" handsets - these are not the same as unlocked. Sim free handsets will automatically lock to the first network sim card that the phone is activated with, and that will be permanently. The only way to unlock the handset would be to go through the network (T-Mobile I understand) and request they unlock it for you. More than likely, there will be a charge as you are no longer a T-Mobile customer.
If you ever want to purchase a new unlocked iPhone, the only place you can buy one is from Apple directly. Any other place will most likely sell sim free handsets. -
i am wondering if i can use my unlocked canadian iphone 4s in the states with sprint? can the cdma be unlocked so that any company that uses cdma can support it? or is the gsm the only one that can be unlocked and used with differnt carriers that support gsm?
The ONLY way this could happen would be if the OP returned the phone within the first 30 days of purchase in the original country of purchase, then bought a new one in the US on the Sprint network.

No. Apple does no tracking of lost or stolen devices.
If you set up the Find My iPhone service prior to your iPhone going missing, something which your iPhone certainly would support - any device that can run iOS 5 or later can - then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPhone is turned on, connected to either the 3G or a WiFi network, or has not had the Find My iPhone service disabled or the iPhone been completely restored). Some carriers offer their own tracking service, though you usually have to pay for it.

There is no one you can report to but the police. If you report it to Apple they will just note that it was stolen. If you did not activate Find my Phone for your device, then you cannot disable it. -

Thank you.My iPhone 5 wouldn't start after I turned it off a few minutes after writing this. It went into recovery mode and I had no choice but to connect to iTunes on PC and restore.
I restored to factory setting first, just to validate my phone was okay. For a second consecutive iOS update, the iPhone 5 did not update smoothly while connected to PC and iTunes - I had to retry two times before the progress bar for the update showed. (The exact same problem with the restart occured when I updated to 7.0.4.)
The good news is that I was ultimately able to restore the iPhone 5 to factory settings while running iOS 7.0.6. I did have a backup from about a month ago lying around and was able to successfully restore with that as well, so the damage done is almost negligible since I had my contacts, notes, mail, etc. backed up to iCloud.
Once I completed both restores, the sync with iTunes worked fine. -
HT201365 I can not activate my phone because the activation server is UNAVAILABLE.
The server keeps saying that it is temporary not available. Now I can not use my phone. Stuck in there even though I have Apple ID & password. Somebody has to fix it. It is frustrated.

When I use my IPhone 4S to view the Shaw Go Movie Central App when I am at home I only use WiFi which is automatic, I start watching a show and sometimes I will get a message like "you can not use your cellular for video playback" or something close to that. Then I received an email from Telus saying I had used my 3G instead of Wi-Fi using 75% of my data. How can this happen when I'm on Wi-Fi at home? If it switched to 3G for some reason I should have been disconnected and not just transferred to 3G network using up my data. What is the fix for this??
It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
To answer your questions,
1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.
