Unlock related question. Paid full price on iPhone 4.

I bought an iPhone 4 for full price on 6/11, unlocked phones have been announced today 6/14. Can I get my phone unlocked or will I need to do a return and rebuy?
Thanks to anyone who might have an educated answer.
WTM

I am sure that you can get your carrier to unlock it for free, especially if they sell them unlocked now.  If not you can definately return it for a legally unlocked one.

  • Iphone 6 64GB (model: A1586) + Sprint Carrier  + have paid full price of 749 USD (excl taxes in Nov 2014) = Unlocked or Locked Iphone 6??

    Hi all,
How should I start. Will try to keep it short and to the point:
I was in US in Nov 2014 for work
In Nov 2014, I have purchased on online Apple Store US in first instance an Iphone 6 64GB (model: A1549) with T-mobile carrier (unlocked version) for a price of 749 USD (excluding taxes & etc)
Upon arrival at Apple Store at Monterey, CA, to pick up above purchase. I had discussed with Apples sales person that I lived in The Netherlands and that latter purchase should be compatible on the Dutch mobile phone carrier: Vodafone and that  full LTE-capabilities would work in The Netherlands.
This Apple Sales person had advised me that I should purchase a different model and should change from model: A1549 to model: A1586.
He showed me this website: https://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/. Based on this site and his expertise, I believed him and have changed above model and have purchased an Iphone 6 64GB (model: A1586) with Sprint Carrier for price of 749 USD (exl taxes & etc)
I have read so many stories online, that I am screwed with this above purchase, because I have purchased a simlocked Iphone and that I will not be able to use this phone to its fullest capabilities and also not workable with my Dutch simcard of Vodafone.
I kindly ask your expertise opinion, whether my Iphone 6 64GB (model: A1586) + Sprint Carrier  + have paid full price of 749 USD (in Nov 2014) is sim-"Unlocked" or sim-"Locked" Iphone??
If "Locked", are there any solution to have it unlocked since start of, I think, Jan or Feb 2015 Sprint carrier will be selling unlocked Iphone 6. Prior to latter date, it doesn't say whether they will apply this retrospectively for other phones as well.
If "Unlocked", please confirm how I can check this? If I look at the current price for the Iphone 6 with the Sprint carrier and 2 year contract. This combination is being sold for 199 USD (excl taxes). I would think that my Iphone is unlocked since I have paid 749 USD (excl taxes) in Nov 2014.
Please, please help me guys...I guess this is lesson learned for me the next time to do a better research before buying any Apple Iphones in US to be used in Europe (in this case The Netherlands).
Thank you in advance for your help and taking a look into this issue.

    Hi Peter,
I did insert my Dutch Vodafone simcard on the Iphone and it works.
I read on some newsgroup that at some point I will not be able to make use this phone, because Sprint would give a certain window to activate the Iphone and if you don't do it, then it would lock the usage of any simcard beside a Sprint simcard. Due to latter, I got nervous and wanted to check this to be sure that there is no need to get stressed all about it.
Indeed, you are right, just checked the model of my Iphone 6 an can confirm is a (CDMA) Sprint MG6G2LL/A.
I am not sure what you mean whether I have "activated" my Iphone. For my understanding, could you please explain what you mean with "activate"?
Did I need to follow certain procedures on the Iphone? I just took out the Sprint carrier simcard when I came back to NL and just popped in my Dutch Vodafone simcard on this phone and was able to internet with LTE and receive and make calls.
When I purchased this Iphone in US, there was indeed a Sprint carrier simcard in the iphone. I never did anything with this Sprint carrier simcard.
I had only made of use of this Iphone in US and in The Netherlands:
of its (free) wi-fi capabilities on the road during my stay in US and
had tested it in US by inserting a Dutch T-mobile simcard and a Dutch Vodafone simcard in this Iphone.
And I was able to calls and receive calls with both Dutch simcards on this Iphone in US.
Upon arrival back in The Netherlands I was able to make use of the 4G/LTE capabilities.
But did find out that sometimes it would act weird and therefore I had linked it that it was due to the Sprint simlock.
Based on above facts, what would your answer be? Did I miss something else that I needed to take account on?
And to be frankly, looking at the paid price for the Iphone 6 64GB of approx 749 USD (paid in Nov 2014) and the price offered for a Iphone 6 64GB icm Sprint subscription would be 299 USD (as of today, Jan 2015). I would assume that I have unlocked version. Wouldn't you agree on this?

Your key cannot work in CC, it's newer version, and would require a new purchase.
    Downlaod CS5 here.

5 days ago I bought a 13" MacBook Air from an apple store.  It does not have Maverick on it!  I paid full price for it, but since it has the old operating system I kind of feel like I bought a "clearance" item but payed full price for it!  Does anyone have any advice, wisdom etc.  This is my first Mac and I'm really bummed that it's not the latest and greatest.  I know I can download maverick for free.....but are there other differences?  Maybe something else that I thought I was getting but didn't?  Thanks.

There is no difference, you didnt get "shorted" Mavericks is a FREE DOWNLOAD
Open the APP store and download Mavericks.
You didnt buy a "clearance" item, you just got an Air that was there at the shop before Mavericks was released.
There is no difference other than a 40 min. download.

  • Why did my contract restart after I paid FULL price for a phone

A while back I added a line to my account for my son, I gave him one of my old Smart phones, galaxy S-III, I have never used an upgrade on that line ever. I Just pre-ordered the Samsung Edge, Paid FULL price on Verizon web site. I just looked and I seem to have a new 2 year contract on a line that didn't have ANY contract. Can any one explain this to me? If I cant pre-order a phone or buy a phone on the Verizon web site with out getting locked into a new 2 year contract then i'll order phone's else where.

Contact customer service. They can see the history of your line and see that the same device ID from your line is the one on your sons line. They will have a record of exactly how the transaction of the order was done online, including the amount paid at that time. they should be able to cancel the contract if you paid the $800 up front

I bought 3 films and none of them had subtitles or alternative languages: why? I paid full price (like a dvd) without the same options. Why should I pay the same price? What I want is to change languages or to have subtitles (Kung Fu Panda2 and Rise of the Planet of the Apes and SpongeBob).
    Pease tell me.
    Best Regards

You can't change languages in any of the movies offered in the store. Some movies have subtitles but it is in the same language as the movie.
Depending on what country you are in, you may get movies in that countries native language.

  • I paid full price for my unlocked phone to be able to use it when I travel overseas. Now I'm in Indonesia and I can't use my phone with local sim card. Why?

As above.  This is really starting to **** me off.

Perhaps you didn't a actually buy an "unlocked" iPhone, you just bought one "without contract" - they are both "full price".
    Where did you buy it?

  • HT1937 i buy iphone from tmobile and i paid full why my iphone lock

i buy iphone 5 from t-mobile and i paid full why t-mobile not unlock my iphone 5
    T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
    Sim Unlock Reference:  5828320
    IMEI:  013428006907719
Thank you for  taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have received your SIM Unlock  Request. Unfortunately, this subscriber is not eligible to receive the  unlock code at this time. In order to be eligible, the subscriber must  complete the buyer's remorse period for their upgrade.   Please submit a  new request 14 days after this subscriber completed their upgrad

Did T-mobile tell you the iPhone was unlocked when hey sold it to you, or d I'd they say it would be unlocked after a certain period of time?  You need to deal with T-mobile on the locking question, Apple does not unlock iPhones or get involved.

  • Upgrading to 3Gs I paid full price for 3G one year ago

I'm not sure I understand what the cost of upgrading would be for me. I paid the full price for the iPhone 3G last June because I was not eligible for an upgrade at that time. (I had a WiMo phone then)I did have to sign a new contract with the phone.
My accounts says I am eligible for an iPhone upgrade on the 13th of June, but I don't know if this will mean a mid year contract price or not since I did not get a subsidized phone price last year.

Because AT&T is the exclusive cellular provider for the iPhone in the U.S., and because of the subsidy you were provided for the phone you were using prior to purchasing the iPhone 3G.
Before the iPhone 3GS was announced, AT&T's prices were as follows:
The subsidized price for the 8GB iPhone 3G was $199, and for the 16GB, $299.
The non-subsidized price for the 8GB iPhone 3G was $399, and for the 16GB, $499.
    AT&T's no-contract price for the 8GB iPhone 3G is $599, and for the 16GB, $699.
Both of these price options required a two year contract. This price was/is for existing subscribers who don't qualify for AT&T's subsidized or discounted price with a new phone. This ensures that AT&T recoups the subsidy they provided you for the phone you were using prior to purchasing the iPhone, but you will qualify for AT&T's subsidized or discounted price with a new phone much earlier in the new contract term.
When you purchase the iPhone 3GS at AT&T's subsidized or discounted price, the same will apply if your iPhone 3GS is lost or stolen and you want to purchase a new iPhone 3GS before you qualify again for AT&T's subsidized or discounted price with a new phone.
Next year at this time when Apple releases a new iPhone model, more than likely you will not qualify for AT&T's subsidized or discounted price for the new iPhone or for any new phone at that time.

  • I bought an iphone 5s from the apple store and paid full price for it. (tmobile) and its LOCKED. how can i unlock it?

this is outrageous. I bought a tmobile iphone from the store to use with my att (i didnt want a 2 year contract) and it ends up my sim cant be used. I paid 800 dollars for a phone i cant use? how am i supposed to fix this. please dont ask me to take it to a att store or apple store because i live nowhere near one. Also it even described the iphone 5s being unlocked.

Buying an off-contract phone does not guarantee that it will be an unlocked iPhone.  You need to explicitly request it to be an unlocked iPhone when you purchase it.
As KiltedTim suggests, try returning it to the store where you purchased it in exchange for an unlocked iPhone.  If that is not possible, you can try contactign T-Mobile to see what their policy for unlocking iPhones is, they may do that for you (but they may charge a fee too).

  • I paid full price for an outdated Imac. Anything I can do?

I bought an Imac almost a month ago from a certified Apple retailer (connecting point), and it turns out they had outdated machines on their shelves. I paid the full 1200 dollars for the base model thinking that I would be buying the upgraded Imac (quadcore i5, updated graphics, etc), but it turns out that was not the case. I ended up walking out of their with the old Imac and not even realizing it until I got home and checked the specs. Everyone has refused to let me return it or do anything for me, including Apple Support. What can I do?

This is a problem you need to resolve with the vendor.  Normally returns for replacements only apply within 14 days after purchase.

Every carrier have their policy and tiny prints. Well, it's a free market. Apple do not take part in this.
Anyway, it always wise to do a research and not let carrier's ads influence you. No company will admit that they are ripping you off. Lesson learned and move on.

  • Unlocked full price iPhone got locked to previous carrier - now my phone is not working

I paid full price for an unlocked iPhone purchased directly from Apple. I tried to switch carriers yesterday and the move got stuck because the phone was locked to the first carrier I got service with. I went to the Apple store and submitted a service request to have the phone unlocked but it is still showing NO SERVICE.
How difficult can it be to get this phone unlocked? Why is it taking so long?
I don't have service and I have a heart condition and I need a working phone! If it isn't working by the time the stores open this morning, then I am going to purchase an Android phone, and take this iPhone back to the Apple store and throw it in their trash like the worthless piece of garbage it is.

No, I shouldn't be patient and wait several days for Apple to fix THEIR ERROR - they screwed up and locked a phone I paid full price for and purchased UNLOCKED.  It's not my fault that their systems are so slow and difficult when I paid APPLE full price - over $800 - for an UNLOCKED phone to avoid exactly this problem.  I shouldn't have to suffer wtihout phone service because APPLE scerwed up  - they should fix THEIR ERROR right away and not make me wait for days.
I need to have working phone service to talk to my doctor and cardiologist and surgeon about heart surgery coming up.  Or to call 911, heaven forbid. I am going to go buy an Andriod phone today.
    Apple is dead to me.
