SIM cards are not locked, unless you have a lock put on it from the carrier. Maybe you are referring to unlocking the phone to use a different carrier? Please explain better.

  • Enter code for unlocking sim card

i saw this option in the menu of the SETTINGS of my n900 since i update its firmware. i enter the pin code of my my sim but it says wrong code.i also tried the lock code but its wrong also. i am just worried coz i will travel to other country next week, and would not be able to use another sim card for my n900. i didnt tried to put the new sim card yet because it will automatically overwrite my prepaid internet settings.
i just want to know if i can still use other sim card without asking for a code. is my phone locked now since i update the firmware?
     thanks!

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's for any future simlocked handsets where you'd enter the unlock code from your network.
Also I wouldn't worry about your internet settings when switching simcards because when you switch back, your handset should reset all of your internet setting back to normal again

Please contact your cellular provider. Only they can unlock the phone, and only if you qualify. These are user forums. We cannot do a thing for you. Furthermore, you should never post information like your IMEI number on an open forum.

  • Unlockable/Sim Cards - International Use

I'm studying in the UK this semester and I want to trade in my iPhone 4 (unlockable) for the Moto X. I would then call and have it unlocked, and then suspend my service and just put a SIM card in it (probably Tesco) when I get to the UK. I should be able to do this, right? I keep running into problems with each Verizon rep I speak with, but I don't see why this won't work. Once the phone is unlocked, it's unlocked for good, yes? And then I'm free to suspend my service and put a SIM card in it, and once I get back to the states I can reactivate my service? Can anyone tell me why this won't work? I wouldn't want to pay for the service if I won't be in the states to use it...

We'd love to help you with options, androidadventures. The great news is that all the 4G LTE Global-capable Android devices, like the Moto X, come already unlocked to be able to use with international SIMs while you're out of the country. We can't guarantee the service from another carrier while you're using a device intended for VZW, and you may need to reach out to the local carrier for help with activating the SIM. You can suspend your line at www.vzw.com/suspend for up to 90 days at a time for a total of 180 days in any 12 month period while you're away, then reactivate it at that same site when you're ready to use the line back in the states.

  • Where to enter PUK code to unlock sim card

Got a new Iphone5.  My other is Iphone4 and not on service with ATT any more.  I have a PUK code to unlock it but don't know where to enter the number.

PUK does not unlock a phone.  It unlocks a SIM.
The only way to use your iPhone 4 with a carrier besides AT&T is to contact AT&T and see if you qualify to have the phone unlocked.

  • 3G-WIC and SIM-card

We are investigating migrating from ISDN to 3G/UMTS access for a couple of remote sites and think the 3G-WIC will be a good substitute. According to the documentation you have to authenticate to the service provider through PPP to get IP-access. This seems straightforward and IOS standard. What we not have found in the documentation is how to enter the PIN-code of the SIM-card, which remains locked without a PIN-code, and will not register in the umts-network.
Is there anyone having practical experience of unlocking SIM-cards on the 3G-WIC? Is there a IOS command for this?

thanx, i've just found it using the search-string "Hwic 3g" :-)
Can you tell me, if there is an antenna included? The Dynamic-Configuration-Tool doesn't worry about configuring it without antenna-option!?
it's correct, that the "Dipole Omnidirectional " is included? (This is the default antenna. Multiband faceplate mounted dipole antenna. This antenna is included with all faceplate-mounted 3G wireless WAN HWICs.)

  • What steps do I need to take once Verizon unlocks my sim card for international use on another carrier

Hi, I am traveling to Romania in a few days. I called Verizon Global Support and had them unlocked my sim card for the 4s.
They told me there was some steps I had to take after they unlocked it and I will find these steps on the Apple website.
Well I cant find what they are talking about and my search on the internet is not giving what I want.
I see things about Sprint 4s and that u must connect your phone to Itunes to complete the unlock process is this the same for verizon ?
The Verizon Rep told me I will be able to use a Internation Sim but I had to connect my phone to a computer after replacing the International sim and go threw a whole process of Restoring and resetting my phone threw Itunes. Is there true ?  I dont not have a internation sim with me is there any other way to see if its unlock and how the process is ? Do i need to set my phone to only run on GSM when I get there or will the International sim automatically switch the band ?
I know its alot of question all at once but i just want to get to the point.
Thanks any help will be appericated

This is the only thing I could find but it does not answer my question or even what I was told by the Global Support Rep.
Verizon has confirmed (here and here) they WILL unlock the SIM on the iPhone 4S, allowing for use of local SIM cards while traveling abroad (no word yet on whether this will allow for use on AT&T and T-Mobile.) This is different than the jailbreak unlocking method; SIM unlocking through Verizon is permanent and will not affect your warranty in any way.
    1. Meet the following requirements:
    * Must be a Verizon Wireless customer.
    * The iPhone 4S being unlocked must be active on a Verizon Wireless line of service.
    * The line of service must be active at least 60 days.
    * The line of service must be in good standing for the past 60 days.
    * Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months.
If you don't meet one or more of the above requirements, call anyway. You may still get lucky.
    2. Insert a foreign SIM into the SIM card slot on the side of your phone (only required to confirm that the unlock is successful.)
    3. Call 1-800-711-8300 (Verizon Global Support) and ask the representative for a SIM unlock. Occassionally a representative may not know exactly what you are referring to; make sure you are not transferred to a different department. You are in the right place. Explain that they should have a walkthrough on how to do this, and that it allows for the use of local, non-Verizon SIM cards while traveling abroad.
    4. Get confirmation from the rep that the unlock has been applied to your account, then check your phone to make sure it recognizes your SIM and can connect (if successful it will roam on AT&T, assuming you are calling from the USA.) You will NOT see an unlock confirmation in iTunes as that is for a factory-applied unlock only.
    5. Enjoy your new unlocked iPhone 4S!

  • How do I use my AT&T SIM card for the unlocked Verizon iPhone 5s?

So I am planning on getting an unlocked verizon iPhone 5s but the thing is my carrier is AT&T. So how do I use my AT&T SIM card for the unlocked Verizon iPhone 5s?

If you plan on using AT&T, why on earth would you purchase a Verizon iPhone? Doesn't make any sense. Yea, it will work on AT&T's network, but you won't get LTE, only 3G. LTE requires using a Verizon sim.
This is an extremely poor idea. Purchaase an officially unlocked iPhone, from Apple, if you want to use AT&T's network.

  • I got an iphone from Hong Kong which is locked one. Can anyone explain me what does a locked iphone means. How do I use it in India now, with my own sim card. How do I unlock it???

I got an iphone from Hong Kong which is locked one. Can anyone explain me what does a locked iphone means. How do I use it in India now, with my own sim card. How do I unlock it???

If your iPhone is locked to a wireless provider, only that wireless provider
can unlock it. Contact the wireless provider in Hong Kong to see if they
offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If your iPhone is locked to an AppleID that you do not know, return it for
a refund as it is useless. Only the person whose AppleID was used for
activation can remove the lock. There is no workaround for Activation Lock.
If neither of the above is what you are facing, provide more detail so someone
    may offer a solution.

I need help, I use my phone for everything enclusive to work. I appreciate if you can help. I'm from Brazil. My name and giullia.

Did you purchase this device from Apple or an authorized reseller? It sounds as if you had a device that was jailbroken/hacked to operate on your carrier. Upon updating the iOS, it is now locked back to the original carrier the device was locked to.
Only the carrier the device is locked to can authorize an unlock. You will need to make contact with that carrier and see if they provide unlocking services, and if they do, if you qualify for an unlock. Otherwise, you are out of luck. One that carrier can take care of the unlocking.

  • Hi, i am going to buy and iPhone 5 in france but it says its an unlocked iphone so i guess ir i take it to Ecuador (my country) the iPhone is gonna work with a sim card form Ecuador right¿

Hi, i am going to buy and iPhone 5 in france but it says its an unlocked iphone so i guess if i take it to Ecuador (my country) the iPhone is gonna work with a sim card from Ecuador right¿

If the receipt says "unlocked" (and not "SIM free") then it will work anywhere in the world that there is a GSM network. However, if it ever needs repair you will have to take it back to France.

  • "Unable to load network list" on new sim card overseas on unlocked iphone 4

I recently bought an Iphone4 (unlocked) from australia. While traveling overseas I inserted a new sim and got the message "unable to load network list", and could not activate my new sim card. Could not find the answer on the discussion board here but got in touch with my provider back in oz who helped me.
Solution: You need your laptop with Itunes on it. Turn the phone off, then connect to your laptop with Itunes already running and then turn the phone on. When you click on your phone icon in Itunes it will say "Congratulation, your iphone is unlocked". You can then eject your phone and your new sim is activated.
    Hope this helps

Sorry not sure why your new sim card isn't supported...not sure if it helps but I had my laptop connected to wifi at the time also, but I don't think it should matter. Its worth a try connecting to internet with ITunes on, connect your phone and then turn it on and see what happens.
