I do not have a list of the specific applications, however all of the proprietary ones you have mentioned will cease to work, and you will not be able to sue the standard PC Companion or Update Service to update/repair your handset.
There are a number of other repurcussions however they are outlined in details here:

  • Xperia Z2 Unlock Bootloader Allowed No

I'll just get right to it. When I enter the service menu, it tells me that: unlock bootloader allowed: no. I cannot unlock my bootloader. Now, nobody seems to know of any solutions to this problem. I know it is the carriers that are at fault, but I just want to know if it is *possible* to unlock my bootloader. If not, I will have to return this device for one that is more developer friendly. I love the phone, but can't use it without an unlocked bootloader. Sony needs to fix this.

I sent this email to Sony developer world a few weeks ago, and they haven't responded.
    Hi there,
I'll cut right to the chase. When I enter the service menu on my Xperia Z2, I discover they rooting status is set to "bootloader unlock allowed: no". This means that I am blocked by Sony from unlocking the bootloader on the phone that *I* own.
Don't tell me it's the carrier's fault (Bell BTW), because I know that you have the tools to change this setting, no matter how complicated the process may be.
I know that this has been done before, as evidenced by this Talk Sony thread a while ago:http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Android-development/Bootloader-unlock-allowed-No-SONY-solve-it-please/...
Why is this possible to do for one carrier but not another? This is ridiculous. Why shouldn't I be able to do whatever I want with the device that I paid for? The phone is SIM unlocked and everything.
When Sony no longer supports firmware updates for my Z2, then what can I do? I will be unable to flash any custom roms and will be stuck on whatever version of Android you decide to leave me with! This is a huge security risk number 1, and number 2 it's just a huge inconvenience.

  • Camera quality get worst after unlock bootloader

Hi, I unlocked bootloader on my z2, after that I realize the Xreality mode not working, also the camera quality got worst. Is there a way to go back? I tried relocking the bootloader but got no luck. I may not need the xreality, but I really want the camera to be as good as before. Please help, thank you!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I'm afraid it's not possible to go back. When you unlock the bootloader, the DRM keys are permanently deleted. This may affect advanced camera functionality as stated here: http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/

  • Unlocked bootloader kills BIONZ processing?

Theres any info/confirmation from Sony thats Z1 really loses BIONZ processing when unlock bootloader???
I compared several photos taken before and after unlocking the bootloader and theres no quality loss or gain of any kind.
    And theres still the warning on Sony's website that only ROMs below .290 who lose camera "functionality";
    "Known issues
To unlock the Xperia ™ Z1 boot loader, you must make sure your device is on software build 14.2.A.0.290 (Android 4.3) or later. Unlocking the boot loader on earlier software versions will stop the camera functionality.
Some customers with unlocked boot loaders have experienced problems When They are accepting upgrades over the air (FOTA - Firmware upgrade Over The Air). For customers that have unlocked the boot loader, please do not accept any over the air upgrades. For additional information, check out the hints and tips from the community on the XDA forum. "

    Does anyone have more information?
    Cheers!

There is an issue with firmware below that stated in which the camera will not work at all but as stated in 4.3 this was fixed - The OTA with unlocked bootloader won't work as modified software will be detected and could brick your device - XDA has also made this quite clear

Just like alexdon said. More information here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22341848&postcount=4
Edit: Some say that the text doesn't change even if you unlock the bootloader. Here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24540749&postcount=17
You can try using the TrackID that came preinstalled on your Phone, not the one from the Play Store.
You can also try using fastboot mode to see if the Bootloader is unlocked.

  • Unlocking bootloader in rooted and flashed st15

    hi all
i have some questions to ask
i'm a possessor of an xperia mini st15i (italian version i think)
i rooted the stock .587 ics, installed via xparts a sort of clockworkmod emulation (cause it's on system partition i think)
and flashed phone with real ics 4 for locked bootloader based on stock .462
i did this following some howtos in this forum and whitout unlocking bootloader.
now i would like to unlock that bootloader, install native clockworkmod and the android official version from google, possibly gingerbread
cause speed issues on ics, here are the questions
can i proceed following normal howtos ignoring what i did to my phone?
are there any guide to read?
do exist some ics based rom for locked bootloader that gives an evident increase of performance?
thank you all in advance and excuse me if i ask something i could find searching in the forum, i tried but i didn't find anything but a guide for xperia neo v
    cheers

  • Unlock bootloader service is down?

    Greetings,
I'm trying to unlock bootloader in my Xperia Z and it seems that service http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/email-verification/ is down...
I've tried multiple emails - no luck .. no activation email in spam\inpox etc.
please advise on how to unilock boot loader
    Ivan

I checked it just now and all seems to work fine.
Give it a shot and keep us updated
Also I'd like to add that almost 50% of the custom roms out there are based on stock kernel, which means you could install them without unlocking the bootloader. So please check with the rom you want to install again.
Unlocking bootloder is an irreversible process, X-Loud and Bravia Engine would stop working post unlocking the bootloader.

  • Motorola To Enable Unlockable Bootloader Via Software Upgrade?

    That would be nice,

    http://phandroid.com/2011/06/13/motorola-looking-to-change-their-bootloader-policy-and-image-in-the-process/

I will believe is when I see it..... Also remember that the carrier still gets the final say so just because Motorola release the bootloader does not mean the carrier will authorize it and not to forget that a unlock bootloader does not make loading unauthorized software on your device ok because it still will be a TOS volation...

How to find out whether my Iphone 3Gs (OS version 3.1.3) is officlially unlocked ( factory unlocked ) or "made" unlocked ? Can I upgrade its current OS 3.1.3 to OS 5 even if my phone is not officlially unlocked ? how to up grade its OS ? what are there any better ways to do it ?
    Thanks,

Depends wher you obtained the iPhone from and it's original supplier
If the iPhone is an authorised unlock ( approved by the carrier) or was
purchased from Apple as an unlocked iPhone  updating the iOS
will have no effect on the iPhone and it's lock status
HOWEVER if the software has been tampered with to remove the lock,
updating the iOs will lock the iPhone back to the original carrier who holds the lock
To find out the status of your iPhone  you could call Apple support
and they may tell you if the iPhone is locked or not and if it is which carrier

  • What is the difference between carrier unlocked and factory unlocked iphone 4?

Hi, Im frm Abu Dhabi, I came to know frm some of my frnds and frm some websites that, unlocked iphone 4 is allowed to use any carriers but are not allowed to update software in iphone 4. In case of factory unlocked iphone 4 we can update software and can use different carriers too, is that true? Pls advise.
Also, please advise if we have an unlocked iphone 4 (not factory unlocked) and is tat necessary to update software / firmware?

If you go to the Apple Store in the US and ask for an unlocked phone, at $649/$749, it comes without a microSIM and is unlocked. You are responsible for getting a microSIM and setting up service. It is factory unlocked.
If you purchase an iPhone in Australia with service from one of the cell providers, once you meet terms they set you can apply for unlocking the iPhone, which may have a fee to do do. Once you have met all the terms you are notified and you connect your iPhone to iTunes where you will get a message that your iPhone is unlocked. This is officially unlocking it through the carrier. You now either stay with that cell provider or get a microSIM from another provider and set up service.
In either case, as wjostem pointed out, officially unlocked is officially unlocked.

  • Will an iphone 4 that was originally purchased from apple directly as a factory unlocked phone remain unlocked or will it have now locked to the network it was used on. I've been told by carphone warehouse that the iphone will lock to first sim used in it

Will an iphone 4 that was originally purchased from apple directly as a factory unlocked phone remain unlocked or will it have now locked to the network it was used on. I've been told by carphone warehouse that the iphone will lock to first sim used in it (in this case Orange) and will need to be unlocked again. Just wanted the view of anybody who knows about this for sure. Thanks

If you bought it directly from Apple as unlocked it should be unlocked for all networks. There are phones sold that WILL lock to the first carrier it is used with, but this does not apply to phones where the receipt says "unlocked".
I have not had good experiences with Carphone Warehouse.
