Unlocked iphone 4s in best buy?

Is it possible to buy an unlocked  iphone 4s from a different store like Best buy?

Not at this time, and the brick and mortar Apple Store also does not have them.

Not covered by warranty. If you make an appointment at an Apple store, you will be offered an out of warranty replacement. Cost is US $199 for an iPhone 4S.

  • Benefit from buying iPhone 4 at Best Buy

FYI. I thought this was worth sharing...
I purchased two iPhone 4 handsets from Best Buy--one for me, one for management (wife).
When buying the handsets, I signed up for the Rewards Zone program they offer. It works by every dollar you spend earns you a point--at some level of points, you receive a gift certificate.
Apparently, BB gives you Rewards Zone credit for the FULL unsubsidized cost of the phone (plus tax), and not just what I paid per phone ($700 vs. $299 subsidized cost for each 32GB iPhone 4)
Anyway, to make a long story short, I received a $25 gift certificate in my e-mail from BB for buying the phones at Best Buy.
Not trying to dissuade anyone from buying their phones at the Apple Store or anywhere else, just thought it was worth sharing since it was a free $25 rewards gift certificate just for buying our phones there.

You can buy a iPhone 4 at any Authorized Retailer (Best Buy, ATT, RS, WM, Apple, etc). However you can not buy a unlocked iphone in the US. All iPhones sold in the US are carrier locked to AT&T and neither Apple or AT&T will unlock the device. If you buy a locked iphone and want it unlocked you will have to do it on your own. Just some thigns to remember 1. It technically voids your warranty. So if you cant restore it to factory firmware before you send it to Apple or take it to them and they find out its Jailbroken warranty is over. and number 2. There is currently no unlock for iphones shipping with 4.1 and the new baseband. So you are taking a chance to that the device will not have 4.1 on it already. You also need to be careful about eBay. Not every device listed is actually a Apple unlocked device. Its merely a Jailbroken one with the unlock applied. Just a warning to you.

  • Verizon iPhone inventory at Best Buy: 100 16GB, 80 32GB at opening

FROM 9 -5 MAC.  So start lining up.

    that's actually uh...quite a decent amount (?)
I mean...where I lve at least, the Verizon and Best Buy are across the street from each other...12 miles down the road...same setup, different location, 10 miles the other way, same setup.
I mean how many customers are HONESTLY eligible for upgrade or forking out full retail?
    Not that many I assume?
But then again...I know how fast the EVO went out, and Best Buy did ticket thingies
Out of curiosity, when I pay the $650+ for mine, will my reward zone card give me that many points? cause that would be the bomb!
Yeah, I bought a phone for full retail price from Best Buy.  You get the points on the price of the phone, but not the sales tax.  Get some accessories while you're there and you could get around 700 points!  What price is Best Buy selling the 16GB for, $599 or $649?

  • When will we see Iphone 4 at Best Buy?

I swear I check my local store and the site multiple times every single week, and every week same thing out of stock.  Then if you ask the question, the BB people have no idea, it is like some big deep dark secret.  I just want to order one of these I do not care if I pre-order until replenishment (can't do that as well).  I would normally just get them at Apple who has them in stock, but got these BB gift cards burning a hole in my pocket...guess next time will not ask for BB gift cards from my credit card company when I cannot even use them.
Anyhow, what I care about is just getting notified they are in stock, twitter feed, email notification anything, heck even just place a standing order....but having to constantly call them or check online is ridiculous.  Anyone know something I do not?
    B.

Coming from me, a VERY heavy Droid user. I can understand their cap at 2GB. I am a VERY heavy user. Email, Youtube, web browsing, weather, you name it, I do it on my phone, and I have yet to even get to 1GB let alone 2GB. *shrug* For what it's worth, if you can actually hit 2GB on your phone, my hat's off to you.
If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.
I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

  • IPhone 4 Preorder / Best Buy

I was number 9 at Best Buy on Pre Order Tuesday. They were allotted 20 preorders for launch day. Picture me with a grin on my face. Only to find out today that they most likely will not get their shipment on launch day. See grin disappear.
Can't find an HTC Evo anywhere to even try it to see if I might be tempted to switch. Such suffering. It's a wonder I'm not an alcoholic.

Looks like Best Buy is now where I have to go. I hope they get them on the 24th. I reserved 2 with them because we all know how Apple site was on the 15th. Of course Best Buy didn't run any information or anything and won't until you pick up the phone but I was 2nd in line. I'm glad I kept the reservation because Apple cancelled my order and they don't know why as everything seemed ok with payment and my eligibility. So here's hoping Best Buy gets them. They are supposed to give me a call next week sometime to make an appointment to get my phones. **Fingers crossed**

  • Anyone buy their iPhone 4 at Best Buy AND get their protection plan?

Well I did but I cancelled the protection plan (which was $15 a month) once I got the bumper case from Apple.
After I cancelled the plan they emailed me and called me asking if I wanted to renew. Well, I did plan on renewing it it in the future because the $15 a month was a little steep for me at the time.
Well last night I went and celebrated the annual zombie crawl in my city and I hooked up my iphone to a dock to play music. Unfortunately it didn't fit with the bumper on so I took it off, boom 5 minutes later it falls out and the front screen is cracked.
Well I'm looking for some way to replace it and I wonder if I can still renew my plan lol, but I assume I have to go in store and have my iPhone on hand. Paying a $15 fee for 30 days of protection would be nice lol. Otherwise I guess I'm forced to buy it outright for normal retail price?

You could also look at getting it repaired locally or repaired out of warranty by Apple. It would be cheaper than buying a new phone outright.

  • What's the deal with buying an unlocked iPhone?

I think I'm going to buy an unlocked iPhone.
That just means I don't have to deal with any contracts, right?
So then do I just walk into a Verizon/AT&T/Sprint store and buy a SIM card?
And, essentially, if I owned SIM cards from different carriers, I could switch between them, right?

    IMPORTANT FACT
There are secretly four different types of unlocked iPhones (Apple, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint) based on where you bought it from, depends on how it will work. Only when purchased directly from Apple will you be able to use SIM cards from the United States if you want to use a small regional carrier. Also if you got an unlocked from Radioshack or Best Buy or something, the version counts as the carrier it comes with, not Apple, so a Verizon unlocked from Best Buy is a Verizon-type unlocked iPhone.

  • HT201269 Best Buy started the setup assistant on my new iPhone 5 and now I can't make it sync with iTunes.  How can I reset and start over?

I bought an iPhone 5 at Best Buy, and they started the setup assistant process.  Now I can't go back and start over so I can sync my phone to my iTunes account.  I have an old iPhone 3GS and didn't use the iCloud.  I backed up to my computer.  And now I can't reset my iPhone 5 to sync to my iTunes.
    Help.

I purchased a iPhone 5, and after completing a backup of my old iPhone 3GS, I in error selected Set Up as a New iPhone in the Setup Assistant.
I connected to iTunes and did a Restore iPhone, which set the iPhone5 back to factory defaults, and I was able to restart the Setup Assistant, and following the apple support instructions, restored from my 3GS backup and synced with my iTunes account.  The Restore kept my phone number intact.
I was worried that I would lose the setup of my phone number that was done in the store, but everything worked perfectly.

  • How many unlocked  iphones can i buy at apple store, how many unlocked  iphones can i buy at apple store

sir how many unlocked  iphones 4S can  i buy at apple store at a time ?? Sir And Also can i sell if i don't like it....

The online Apple Store has a limit of two iPhone 4S units per purchaser. I would suspect that the physical Apple Stores have the same limit. But as Tim said, you need to call the Apple Store from which you would like to purchase and ask, though again, they almost certainly will not have any in stock.
    Regards.

  • Unlock Iphone 3gs

    Hi
I had bought an iphone 3GS from best buy and was using it on AT&T network.
I need to get the phone unlocked as I need to use it in another country.
When I contacted AT&T with the unlock request, they said that in order to unlock the phone I would need to contact the providers who sold the device .
AT&T can only provide unlock codes for the devices AT&T has purchased directly from the manufacturers.
Can you pls help me getting the phone unlocked ?
Pls let me know if you need more details.
    Thanks
    Abhishek

Best Buy cannot unlock devices. You'll need to work with AT&T and Apple.

  • Help unlock an unlocked iphone after upgrading to 3.1

    Hi There,
I bought the IPhone 3GS in Best buy in the USA and was told it was unlocked.
When I got back to my country I connected the iphone to itunes in order to activate it and was asked to upgrade to version 3.1
After doing so, it turns out that my iphone is now completely locked!!!
I called Apple support and they told me that any iphone that was unlocked and was upgraded to 3.1 is now locked and that there is a solution for it, I just need to ask the professionals in this discussion forum.
So here I am asking for your help, please help...
    Thanks,
    Saso

Did you tell Apple that it was Best Buy that unlocked it. Best Buy is an authorized Apple distributer, and Apple would not be very happy with them if Best Buy was unlocking iPhones. Apple claims tat a lot of their iPhone service calls are related to IPhones that have been jail-broken (needed for unofficial unlocking).
and that there is a solution for it, I just need to ask the professionals in this discussion forum.
So here I am asking for your help, please help...
Currently, there are no reports of anyone unlocking a US 3.1 iPhone.

  • Best Buy has Zero iPhone4s but the AT&T store NEXT DOOR has 80 (with more arriving!)

Best Buy in Mount Laurel, NJ (1400 Nixon Drive) has ZERO iPhone 4s as of 6 PM on 6/28. Despite preordering on the 15th and I am still waiting with no word on when my phone will be in.
So I call the AT&T store that is located NEXT DOOR @ 1420 Nixon Drive. I mean it is literally right next door in the strip mall. I'm told that they received 80 phones today and are expecting a shipment of 60 to 80 MORE phones tomorrow. The rep told me that they will have extra phone for walk-ins, but it's going to be first come-first served, etc.
    I mean, C'MON! It's like a bad joke.
I've heard the arguement "it's not us, it's Apple" from Best Buy, but I guess I'm not clear on why Best Buy seems to have no leverage to get their pre-orders expedited.
Heck, I don't understand why Best Buy can't, at minimum, get a straight answer from Apple about where/when Best Buy will be getting replenishment stock.
As a customer, I don't care who's "fault" it is - in my opinion, it's Best Buy's fault. Obviously, there's no universal shortage of iPhone 4s when the AT&T store is getting extras and Best Buy can't fullfill it's preorders from the 15th.
IMO, the problem is that Best Buy must have a pretty weak relationship with Apple to be treated this way. As a small business owner, if one of my suppliers was jerking me around like this, I'd sever the relationship. (Sure, I know this is more complex, but the principle is that Best Buy has a bunch of angry customers due to Apple's lack of support. That's a BAD business relationship, when your partners force you to lose crediblilty with customers).
I'll never pre-order from Best Buy again. But you can blame Apple for that ...

It simply amazes me that Best Buy continues to point fingers away from themselves.  I understand the RS situation.  They've never been what I'd consider an outlet for this type of situation.  While sad, RS's ineptitude doesn't surprise me.  Best Buy's does.
That tells me there are more fundamental problems with Best Buy.  They either don't have a good relationship with their vendors (in this case, Apple).  Or, they really don't have a handle on inventory and shipping basics.  Maybe, as has been suggested, there's something amiss with employees taking the customer pre-orders and putting their family and friends in front of them.  Still, this has happened at seemingly every Best Buy store.  That tells me the problems with Best Buy are very widespread.
As I posted before, I just walked into an AT&T store yesterday and bought a 32GB iPhone 4, no reservations.  Others have reported doing the same.  AT&T probably has fewer stores than Best Buy.  And, from what I can tell, have smaller iPhone stock than Best Buy.  Yet, they handled it much better.
All pre-orders were filled first.  Then, walk-ups were allowed to buy.  No employees were allowed to buy them, under any circumstance, for anyone, until the customers were taken care of first.  Simple concept.  Apparently, too simple for Best Buy to understand.

  • As of last night, i have a 16G iphone4......from Best Buy

So my tale of woe is me is short and sweet.
-Preordered iphone 4 from Best Buy in huntington station NY on the first day.  Launch day came, the store was shorted, i didnt make the cut.  Out of 12 people, i was now number 3 on the next shipment.
-Like most of you, i hadnt been told when, or if the next shipment was even coming
-Compounding the problem, was that i'm leaving tomorrow for a 2 week vacation, and if the phone came and i couldnt be there to claim it, i'd get bumped down the list, and most likely wait until august
-Huntington Station store was absolutely no help, very rude, told me no way i'd be able to return my gift card, etc etc
    WELL
Last night i called again to complain, and got a hold of someone who was surprisingly helpful.  Informed me that hes not sure why, but he caught wind that the Riverhead store has a bunch in stock for walk ins, and they didnt take preorders.
I called riverhead at 7pm, and they said they had a bunch, but theres some people on line.  Gave her my number and name, told her i was getting in my car, i'll be there in an hour (its 45 miles away and rush hour), and to call me if they run out so i dont waste my time.
Show up at 8:25, wait behind one person, walk out of there 10 minutes later with a beautiful new iphone 4   I'm canceling my presale today from huntington and thanking the guy who gave me the tip.  Apparently Riverhead got 60+ on their first shipment, but Huntington Station (who took preorders mind you) got no more than 20.  Does this make any sense?  Absolutely not.  But now i have my iphone, its definately amazing and worth the wait, and i dont have to deal with this bull anymore
Keep plugging away everyone!  Just keep calling different stores!

Completely agree.  If i wasnt able to get the phone, i'd obviuosly be more peeved about the situation, but i have it so its rolling off my back at this point.
But you're totally right, and its completely poor inventory management on BB and Apple's part.
A preorder is a guarantee of product when inventory allows.  To have one store 45 miles away have 60 while the other store barely had enough to fill 10 people on the preorder, is just poor poor business practice.

  • Preorder Best Buy

If I preorder the iPhone 6 through Best Buy, do I still qualify for the $200 trade in? I have an iPhone 4 currently.

In our town we have two retailers which are literally blocks mile from each other; Verizon Wireless 76 Dodge St., 01915 and Verizon Wireless at 136 Dodge St., 01915.  I'm sifting through the VWZ website to better understand the promotion and to better understand given the information shared at "Verizon Wireless 136 Dodge St....".
I've been a customer of VWZ for years and have opted not to go to 76 Dodge St. given the years of poor customer service experience at that particular location and return to 136 Dodge St given their great customer service.  Now I read your posting as I comb through the readings to learn more about the promotion to help better understand who, what and under what circumstances you are eligible to receive the promotional upgrade.
I only went to the store today given the VWZ website did not allow me to change my plan to from nationwide to single place and pre-order the phone.  My frustration mounted when I went to the store I was at today stated VWZ "misinformed the public..." and the $200 upgrade really should really have read, "...receive up to a $200 refund..." -- that is, I would only receive the cost of the appraised value of the iPhone 4S which is only know after I submit the item to VWZ.  Here I read this post which you indicate it's only available at "Verizon Wireless" which leaves be baffled - does this include authorized retailers who print receipts stating "Verizon Wireless, 136 Dode St... or what?  The only reason why I remained with VMZ (it wasn't for the customer service), was the promotional offer and the new single plan being offered.  If this is not the case, I like to void this order (which I won't be surprised I'll be charged) and start shopping around at other carriers.  I admit this promotional offering is very clear with no clear indication on who, what and under what circumstance you are eligible and the cost you will encounter.
