Unlocked mobile phone

I boughgt an unlocked mpbile phone (order {removed per forum guidelines}) Blackberry 8230. The problem is that I can`t find the slot for the sim card. Does it have one? If not, why you don't mentio it in your offer?
How can I solve the problem? Would you help me?
Thanks

What makes you think it's unlocked? The listing states it's for Verizon Wireless, meaning this is a CDMA phone. It doesn't use a SIM card.

    Hi,
I recently saw an "unlocked" phone offer on Amazon.com....... Could you please tell me whether "unlocked" phones, are usually wi-fi enabled?  Also, if one had such an
unlocked phone and placed into it a blank T-Mobile SiM card, would this phone, with its wifi ability, be able to do e-mail and get on to the internet withOUT a data-plan?

CDMA (specifically cdmaOne/CDMA2000) - This is the system used by Verizon and Sprint's networks.  These devices do not have a SIM (with a few certain exceptions) and the device, even if technically "unlocked" (Verizon never locks the programming mode of the phone, password is almost always 0000), they can't be used on any other network because Sprint and Verizon will not activate a device that they didn't sell.  Your account is tied to the phone's serial number.
GSM (which actually includes GSM and UMTS nowadays, but most people just refer to it as "GSM") is the system used by AT&T and T-Mobile.  These devices all use a SIM, and your account is tied to your SIM and not the phone's serial number.  So you can swap your SIM to another phone and it will work if the phone is unlocked.  HOWEVER:  In addition to network locking, various networks use different frequency bands, and an unlocked phone that doesn't support the right bands won't work.  This usually means:
Any phone sold by AT&T will only get 2G service on T-Mobile, not 3G (Except for the Samsung Skyrocket, and to get this to work requires some very specific technical hacks.)
Some phones sold by T-Mobile will get 3G service on AT&T, but not many
A reasonable number of internationally sold phones get 3G service on AT&T but not T-Mobile (such as the international Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note)
Only one internationally sold phone I know of gets 3G service on both AT&T and T-Mobile - the GSM Galaxy Nexus

I tried adding mobile accessibility and now i can't unlock my phone.  Can anyone help?

    From
    http://www.windowsphone.com/en-GB/how-to/wp8/basics/accessibility-on-my-phone
    Tap Restart phone.
After  your has phone restarted, a message about the lock screen will be read  aloud. Tap the lock screen at any time to hear the time, date and  notifications read aloud. To unlock your phone, flick the screen up.   (If you have a password, tap any number key to hear that number read  aloud, then double-tap to enter the number as part of your password.)
If this is the first time you've turned on Mobile Accessibility,  you'll be presented with a training session to help you quickly learn  how to use it. (You can return to the training at any time by  triple-tapping the screen to access the Quick Menu, then selecting Support > Touch Training.) Otherwise, the Mobile Accessibility home screen will load.
Worse case a hard reset will clear it (you will of course erase the phone)

That's not how unlocking an iPhone works.
The carrier the phone is locked to submits a request to Apple, wh updates their database. When that is complete, you restore the phone with iTunes to process the unlock.

    What to Bring with You
Your old mobile phone, if you’re replacing it.
Social Security number of the account holder.
    Valid government-issued photo ID.
Carrier account password, if you have one.
    Your Apple ID and password.

According to Apple's list (link above) you will probably want to pick up a Sprint or US Cellular model. HOWEVER, as I mentioned above I know that the Verizon iPhones come unlocked from the factory (assuming it will be the same for iPhone 6 and 6+). I DO NOT KNOW if the Sprint and US Cellular models come unlocked. But I am sure some quick internet research will lead you to the answer.
I think your goal would be to get a Sprint or US Cellular version. Also I believe a law was just recently passed that allows someone to have a phone unlocked by the carrier no questions asked. So even if the Sprint and US Cellular iPhones are locked you can have them unlocked.

  • Mobile phone unlocking

    Hi,
I am wondering if it is possible to make a mobile phone unlocking program in Java?
If so can anyone tell me how I would start such a project?
    Thanks in advance...
    Johnny C

The problem will be the interface with the mobile phones' flashed memory, plus the manufacturers are starting to get very wise: a friend of mine used to do this (not via java). His setup was some program off the net for reading memory, a soldering iron and four cables :) Anyway, his method was to remove the bytes from memory where the "lock" was. That worked until about 18 months ago with a Nokia 3310, now his method doesn't work, they've got some kind of safety.
First of all if you could read the memory via, that would be an achievement. THere are sites on the net that show you how to build something that connects the phone to a serial port, try googling for those? Good luck :)

  • I have just moved to another network, how do I unlock my T mobile phone?

Please can someone direct me to the part of the website where apparently I can unlock the phone? Thanks

    Hi,
You need a PAYG sim for the carrier and £8.99 in credit on that sim. Then you can follow this process: https://myaccount.ee.co.uk/device-unlock/
    This is the only way.
    Thanks,

  • How can I swap phone numbers between Verizon and T-Mobile phones?

I have Verizon and T-Mobile phones. My wife uses the T-mobile phone and I the Verzion phone. I was given a GSM iPhone 5 that I want to use on the T-mobile account, so I want to move the Verzion phone number to the T-Mobile phone and the T-Mobile number to the Verzion phone. I do not want to have to inform all our friends about the number swap. I also would like to maintain phones on different networks for reliability and connectivity assurance.
I called the Verizon wireless number and the person couldn't help me. The best I can figure out is to give up on Verizon and move the Verizon phone number to a new T-mobile account.
    Any ideas?

They are both 4g phones correct?  All verizon phones come unlocked.  If the verizon phone works with tmobile all you do is take the sim card out and stick it in the phone.   however when you do this it is going to erase everything on the phone so make sure you back it up before swaping sim.  As far as using the tmobile phone with verizon you would need to ask tmobile if the phone is unlocked

If it is locked to T-Mobile, you will need to contact T-Mobile to unlock it.

  • I want to unlock my phone but dont know how!

My Iphone 4S is locked to orange UK, I have finished my contract with them and tried another network which is t.mobile (both part of EE network)  and now I'm in Jordan and I can not use the local sim cards, i'm having a massage stating that I should unlock my phone, I contacted Orange Jordan network and they were clueless about it, what should I do?

Well, you've got a huge problem on your hands, with no good solution. Only Orange UK can authorize the unlocking of your phone, but they won't do so unless you are a customer, in good standing, using the phone, on their network, in the UK. Obviously not the case with you.
As long as you're in Jordan, there's no way for you to get that phone officially unlocked.

  • BB8700 DOES NOT ACCEPT 2 MOBILE PHONES IN CONTACT

I AM USING THE BLACKBERRY 8700, I HAVE MORE THAN 4500 CONTACTS AND MUCH OF THE CONTACTS HAVE MORE THAN 2 MOBILE PHONES, THESE CONTACT IN OUTLOOK SHOWS 2 MOBILE PHONES OF EACH CONTACT, BUT WHEN I SYNCHRONIZE THE BLACKBERRY WITH OUTLOOK , ONLY ONE CONTACT GETS ADDED OR UPDATED IN THE BLACKBERRY WHICH SHOULD BE OTHERWISE AND SHOULD BY SNYCHED EXACTLY AS THE DETAILS OF CONTACT IN THE OUTLOOK WITH 2 MOBILE PHONES. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME OUT, IS THIS A ISSUE ONLY IN THIS MODEL OR ELSE IF THINGS WORK IN THE OTHER MODEL, PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO THAT I CAN PURCHASE THE COMPLIANT MODEL RESOLVE MY MAJOR ISSUE

Do you have to type in ALL CAPS? That is considered shouting and rude in forums, and difficult to read.
You need to open you Desktop Manager and the Sync application and find where the Address Book syncs to Outlook and look in the advanced settings to MAP the fields of the Outlook second mobile number to the BlackBerry device to another field such as "other" or User Field 1 or 2 or 3...

trying to active my old iPhone 3gs. it showing that activation server is temporary unavailable and on the iTunes showing that there is no sim card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. I unlocked my phone then i upgrade it, after that this happen. i tried with other sim same message come again and again.if any body know solution let me know. thanks

Was the SIM card activated on another phone? I assume this is an ATT style trying to use on T-Mobile? Was the SIM installed correctly? Is the carrier (like T-Mobile) operating IOS 6 devices yet?
If the SIM is a valid SIM from say T-Mobile, you may want to contact them for assistance activating the SIM card.
Activation and SIM issues typically point to the carrier. And if this was a CDMA phone say working with verizon, it will NOT work for ATT or T-Mobile as they use different electronics on the 3GS. The SIM slot is for international use only.

backup is a good practice especially for mobile devices.
create a free (5GB) icloud account
    https://www.icloud.com
and setup sync of your data.
This way you will not lose anything in the future.

  • NEED HELP with an unlocked cingular phone

I just recently bought an unlocked Cingular palm Treo 750 on ebay. And actually I like the phone but I can not get it to do what I need it to do. I use Suncom as a service provider, who just recently merged with T-mobile. I went to Suncom and they supposedly set everything up so I could get on the interenet. Well....... I can not get any page to come up. It says that the page cannot be displayed and to check the connection. I went to suncom again who told me that unlocked Cingular phones do not work well with suncom and there was nothing they could do. I want to use this phone to help me with my college work and I can not. Does anyone have any type of suggestion for me. I am sooooo frustrated. I have been with suncom for many years but this makes me mad. Can ANYONE HELP ME???
Post relates to: Treo 750 (Cingular)

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
I am very sorry you are having these issues and have a few suggestions that may resolve your issue.
Make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly before continuing.
First, you may want to contact T-Mobile to make sure they have the right device provisioned onto their network and that the Treo 680 is supported.
Second, you could have a bad SIM card. SIM cards are usually free at stores. See if they can swap it out and if that resolves your connection issues.
Thrid, try a hard reset. A hard reset will erase everything off the device so be sure you backup your data on a computer via hotsync. For further
instructions on how to do a hard reset, go to kb.palm.com and search for article # 42094 in the solution ID. search field. Before you add any data back onto the device make sure you are able to establish a connection to the T-Mobile network.
If none if this works, you may have recieved a defective device from ebay. I hope not though.
Well, I hope one of the suggestions resolve your issue. Let me know if you have any further questions.
