Unlocked, only it doesn't work

I had an unlocked iPhone 4s, only my phone doesn't know about it.
The device belonged to my father, he purchased it in Hungary, but recently he upgraded to a iPhone 5s, so he had his old phone unlocked by his mobile provider in Hungary (T-Mobile), so I would be able to use it here (UK). We didn't have a chance to try the phone in Hungary, so I only found out here, that it is in fact not unlocked. I had the Hungarian T-Mobile check, if the unlocking process went through their system, and I was given an affirmative answer. After having tried to restore the phone several times (I was told that might help), it still won't accept my new SIM. So I went to the Apple Store, where I was told to contact my provider! Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

"This is the expected behaviour."
thanx, that is what I wanted to know.
but I don't understand what do you mean with "change the version name" ?
please, could you explain your advice.

  • Unlocked iPhone 5 doesn't work

Hello! My friend bought me an iPhone 5 sim free 2 weeks ago. But now I can't use it, because it seems locked for AT&T. What should I do know? Can apple store stuff check how my iPhone was sell?

Does your "friend" have the receipt from the store? Look at it and make sure it says it's "unlocked".
An unlocked version of the iPhone 5 was not available in the U.S. 2 weeks ago. The U.S. unlocked iPhone 5 became available in the Apple.com online store in the U.S. on November 30th. Retail availability has not been announced, but there are reports of them being available.
I f your friend purchased it before 30 November, then they did NOT purchase an unlocked phone. They purchased a no contract AT&T phone.
There are some reports that if the phone was purchased as a no-commitment device, connecting it to iTunes and performing a restore will unlock it.
Try that. If it doesn't work, then you'll have to ask AT&T to unlock it.

  • I upgraded to Mavericks and now the scoll on my trackpad won't work. It works in Chrome, the finder, or MS suite. Only FF doesn't work.

The question has pretty much all the details. I'm running latest FF and Mvericks and the scroll/backward/forward function in the trackpad doesn't work. I can scroll in any other program, just not FF.

  • Unlocking windows files doesn't work

Hi, I went to print some projects yesterday and my usb drive got a virus or two. Usually I would just unlock the files in Leopard and trash them, but I can't unlock the files with Snow Leopard.
    Any help?
    Thanks,
    Jaco

Firstly, this is a bit long (sorry), but will fix your problem.
I solved this problem using the terminal. In the mac os, you need to move something to the trash before deleting it. In unix, on which the mac os is based, you can delete anything in place using the command "rm", shorthand for remove.
To delete locked files that you can't unlock and delete using the mac os, you will need:
    Administrator privileges, including administrator password
    A locked file
    Extreme care
in addition to the "rm" command, you'll also be using the "sudo" command, which is short for "Super user do". Be very careful with this, as you will not be asked "are you sure?" when using "rm" or "sudo". any changes you make *are irreversible*. Consider yourself warned.
These steps assume that the files you want to delete are on an external drive, as mine were.
    1-
    open terminal
    Macintosh HD>Applications>Utilities>Terminal
    you should see something like:
Last login: Wed Oct 14 23:43:36 on ttys000
    USERNAMEs-iMac:~ USER$
    2-
type "cd /" and hit enter
Last login: Wed Oct 14 23:43:36 on ttys000
    USERNAMEs-iMac:~ USER$ cd /
    USERNAMEs-iMac:/ USER$
    3-
type "cd Volumes" and hit enter. unix is case sensitive, and you'll need to give "Volumes" the capital "V".
Last login: Wed Oct 14 23:43:36 on ttys000
    USERNAMEs-iMac:~ USER$ cd /
    USERNAMEs-iMac:/ USER$ cd Volumes
    USERNAMEs-iMac:/ USER$
    4-
type "ls" and hit enter. This will list the contents of "Volumes". In case you haven't worked it out, the "cd" command is short for "change directory" and is used as the command line equivalent of opening a folder in the mac os.
Last login: Wed Oct 14 23:43:36 on ttys000
    USERNAMEs-iMac:~ USER$ cd /
    USERNAMEs-iMac:/ USER$ cd Volumes
    USERNAMEs-iMac:Volumes USER$ ls
    USB-DRIVE Macintosh HD
    USERNAMEs-iMac:Volumes USER$
Before we move on, we need to take a look at what we have.
    this line:
    USERNAMEs-iMac:Volumes USER$
not only shows us where we are in the computer, but also shows that the computer is waiting for a command.
    USERNAMEs-iMac:Volumes
means that we're in the folder "Volumes" on "USERNAMEs" computer. I assume that your username is not, in fact, USERNAME.
the $ symbol means that the computer is waiting for a command.
    this line:
    USB-DRIVE Macintosh HD
appeared after we typed "ls", short for "list structure"
in my case, there are 2 further folders inside "Volumes": "USB-DRIVE" and "Macintosh HD"
you may also have a few more, depending on what else is plugged in to your computer.
    5-
in order to delete the files, you'll need to navigate to them. my locked files were on my USB drive, which is where i'm assuming yours are too. If not, navigate to them now using "cd".
if you need to go to your user account's home folder, type "cd ~ ". " ~ " is the button immediately below the escape button on your keyboard, and you'll need to hold shift to type it.
if you need to go to the top level of your computer (the same as double clicking "Macintosh HD" in the finder), type "cd /"
if you accidentally open a folder and just need to go up one level, type "cd .."
if you need to see what folders and files are at your current location, use "ls" again
if you can't open a folder, because there is a space character in the name, type "cd 'folder name' ", including the single quote marks, where folder name is the directory you're trying to open.
remember that unix is case sensitive, so match the case exactly for any files that you try to open.

if i use the "rm" command on a file, normally, that file will be immediately deleted.

if you attempt this on a locked file, however, it will ask you to confirm. (i forget the exact message, as I have deleted all the locked files already...) even if you type "yes" to confirm, the file will not be deleted.
this is where "sudo" comes in. "sudo" should only every be used as a last resort, if you are really 100% completely sure that you want to do whatever it is that you're doing with it. used improperly, "sudo" can destroy your computer. it won't here, with what we're doing, but i'm just trying to get across that it isn't a command to be played around with. (it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye...)
type "sudo rm 'locked file 1'" if the file has a space in its name, or
"sudo rm locked2" if it doesn't. obviously, "locked file 1" or "locked 2" will be different for you. if the file has a file extension, type that too, for example, "sudo rm program2.exe"
    [snip]
    USERNAMEs-iMac:USB-DRIVE USER$ rm file1
    USERNAMEs-iMac:USB-DRIVE USER$ ls
    file2
    file3
    file4
    file5
    locked file 1
    locked2
    program 1.app
    program2.exe
    some file1
    some other file1
    USERNAMEs-iMac:USB-DRIVE USER$ sudo rm locked2
    Password:
The password that is now being asked of you is the Administrator password. If you are not logged in as administrator, you will need to log out and log in as one to do this.
Type your password and hit enter.
You will be asked at this point to confirm deletion of the locked file. Type "yes" and hit enter
if you type "ls" again, you should see that the stubborn file is gone. If you open the folder where it was located using the finder, you should see that it's gone, too.
    8-
Repeat the "sudo" command for any other locked files that you need to delete. You will not be asked for your password again, unless you quit Terminal and relaunch it, but you will need to confirm each time.
once you have finished deleting files, you can just quit Terminal; you don't need to type a specific command to do so.

  • SIM unlock iPhnoe 3g doesn't work

The local Telekomshop in Munich (Germany) told me, that on my request they had send a message to Apple, confirming that my iphone 3G had fulfilled the 2 year contract by mid August
and would be eligible for SIM unlock. Apple than replied the SIM unlock could be made from Sep 20th on by connecting to any computer via iTunes.
That iPhone 3G is now in Mexico, connecteg to a MacBook Pro 13".
In the iPhone 3G there is a SIM card from the largest local provider Telcel. That SIM card works fine in a German Nokia mobile phone.
After connecting the iPhone 3G to iTunes a dialog appears:
The inserted SIM card is not supported. For activation of an iPhone only compatible SIM cards of a supported provider can be used. Please use the SIM card that came with your iPhone or contact a supported provider to receive an alternate card.
Is there a preferred provider in Mexico?
Whats going wrong here? :–) I really appreciate.

You need to use the German SIM in iTunes to complete the unlock before you can use someone else's SIM.

  • How do I get my iPad unlocked when iTunes doesn't work to restore? Thanks!

My iPad is disabled due to me not remembering the passcode and attempting too many wrong guesses. I have gone through the "restore device" procedure on iTunes but I get error messages that my device is not eligible. How do I get my iPad unlocked? Thanks!

If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Unlocked Iphone 4s doesn't work in my country

    Hi
I bought an "unlocked 4s" from this seller on e-bay.  He has a lot of reputation and good feedback and seems genunine.
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350980444162
Now we live in little country called Andorra next to Spain and France.
I put my local sim from Telecom Andorra in it and it gives me a
""There is a problem with your iPhone.
We're sorry, the iPhone you connected is not recognised and cannot be activated for service. We recommend you visit your nearest Apple Store for more information."
    message.
However when I put my Spanish SIM in it is fine and roams onto the Andorran network.
What gives?  Can there different levels of unlock?  Unlocked for some countries and not for others?  I've had at least 10 different phones unlocked from different manufacturers (not apple) and never seen anything like this.
    Please help.

  • Exchange Failover - Outlook Doesn't Work with 1 Server

    Hi,
    Wondering if someone could help.
We have 3 Exchange 2010 servers with all roles installed.  All at SP3 RU6.  DAG set up between all 3 servers for all mailbox databases.  Manual failover is enabled.  MB1 holds all copies.  Outlook 2010 with all latest updates being
    used by end clients.
MB1 - Main Physical Server – All Active Copies – No Issues
MB2 – Secondary Physical server – Passive – Problem Server
MB3 – VM for use in the worst case scenario – Passive – No issues
We simulated MB1 failing.  We can get MB2 to take ownership of the databases manually.  OWA works fine, mail flow works fine but whenever we open Outlook it either fails to connect and continues to say “Server is unavailable, Retry, Work Offline,
Cancel” or the inbox loads but it loads old mail from a month+ ago (I actually this this may be a cached mode setting that’s being taken from somewhere even though cached mode is disabled) and sits at “Offline”.  If I do the “Test E-mail Auto configuration”
then everything passes fine but we can’t get the client to go online at all.
If I fail everything over to MB3 then it all connects up ok and works fine.  I stuck MB1 back online with mailboxes being active on MB2 and Outlook pointing to MB1 and it works fine.  The only thing that appears to be broken is when Outlook points
    to MB2 only.
    Thanks

We don't have a CAS array set up.  We want the fail over to be fully manual and only fail over to another server when mb1 is in a completely failed state and won't be back up and running withing a set time frame.  We can get everything working
on MB3 and only Outlook doesn't work when everything is on MB2.  Outlook also doesn't work if databases are on another server and DNS is pointing Outlook to MB2 (again MB3 works fine).

  • Synchronization of tasks and interaction logs with Outlook doesn't work

    Dear SAP Experts,
    I'm workink on CRM 7.0 (release 7.7.06.010).
We are trying to make the synchronization of activities, contacts and tasks from our CRM system to Microsoft Outlook.
It's working fine for the contacts and for the Apointment BP visit (transaction type Y020).
But no synchronization made for others activities (interaction log Y007 and telephone calls PCAL) or BP Tasks (Y030) we created in the system.
We just applied today SAP Note 1415263 and Groupware Integration 3.057.
I made the settings in the CRM Calendar tab in Outlook (with synchronization from CRM to Outlook), and checked apointment, contacts and tasks.
In customizing (CRM > Transactions > Basic settings > Define transaction types), I flagged for the following transaction types the little 'Calendar' box: Y020, Y030, Y007 and PCAL.
In another entry (CRM > CRM Middleware and related components > Settings for client-based synchronization), I indicated the transaction type Y020 for DEFAULT_APPT_PROC_TYPE and Y030 for DEFAULT_TASK_PROC_TYPE.
Any idea about what is missing or not already done?
    Any help will be apppreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Kind regards,

  • Mail Rule Doesn't Work

I participate at some message boards. I recently upgraded my yahoo email account so I could POP my mail using Mac Mail. Fine. So I tried to set up a rule to route emails from those boards into a mailbox in Mail I created called "Message Boards". Only it doesn't work. The messages go into the Inbox and not the boards mailbox. What did I do wrong? I set it so that anything from those incoming emails would be moved to that mailbox, but it's just not doing it.

Try splitting it into two separate rules, one for each condition. Add an action after your colour action "stop applying rules"

  • How to unlock an iphone 3gs when it's sim locked and the lock button doesn't work???

I bought this iphone 3gs off an app. I just want to use it as an ipod. it is sim locked (with two attempts left) and the lock button doesn't work at all. What can I do? I just want to use it as an ipod.
I have also tried everything. I took the sim card out and put it back in again. And I have also left it out. And I have tried connecting it to itunes but I need to unlock. (some of these were suggested by the seller)
    Please help me.
    im

My guess - and this is completely a guess - is that the SIM in that phone has a PIN that was added to it by the previous owner. Whomever you bought it from didn't bother to check for this (or didn't care) before they got it from the previous owner.
You need to get a new AT&T SIM for that phone - you could even borrow one from a friend if they have one that will fit the phone. You would only need the SIM to activate it.
There is no way to activate an iPhone without a SIM in it, even if you don't plan to use it as anything other than an iPod.
