Unlocked (Rogers) Treo 680 Problem: No network after 1.12 upgrade

Here's what I did:
Bought Rogers GSM Treo 680 on Ebay and inserted my T-Mobile SIM Card.
Bought and applied unlock code.
Successfully used Treo 680 on T-Mobile (USA) for 7 months. Everything worked fine.
Recently upgraded to firmware version 1.12 using Palm "Unlocked" download. (Probably a mistake...I thought since I had unlocked the phone, I should use this Unlocked upgrade.) Now the phone would not connect to T-Mobile anymore.
Redid upgrade to Rogers 1.12 upgrade. Still won't connect to T-Mobile.
I couldn't find my unlock code, so spent $25 on a new unlock code. Entered it, reboot, still won't connect to T-Mobile.
Note: I can see T-Mobile and ATT in my "Select network" list. It always responds with "Unable to register with selected network".
What do I do now?

Solution: It turns out my 7-8 year old SIM card went bad (or was corrupted) during the upgrade process. T-Mobile Handheld Support authorized new SIM card for free - I picked it up at a downtown Seattle T-Mobile store.

I have an unlocked Cingular treo 680 - I live in Australia (bought it in L.A) - and I'm now trying to access the web using my data plan.
I'm with the Three network, and they connect to the web using a proxy server, Cingular only support GPRS and Edge, so everytime I go to connect i get an error message saying "no gprs available, check network settings" - but I have configured my proxy settings correctly...am I missing something?
My treo had an automatic port (80) for the proxy settings.. but three have different incoming and outgoing port numbers,
Between the whole lot I'm a bit confused.
I'm just wondering if there is any way I can override those default cingular settings so my data plan will work.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated....any way I can get rid of all this annoying cingular crap?!

You can't. (to my knowledge) That phone has a ROM that was designed to work on the Cingular/AT&T network. You can unlock it but it's still an AT&T device and somethings can't be removed. I think an unlocked (natively unlocked) treo might be what you need.

IIRC, Hotmail is like Yahoo's free email - you have to pay for POP access.
If you aren't paying for a premium version of HotMail, it won't work correctly with VersaMail.

Problems with networking after sleep since March 1st EPI firmware update

Hi,
After the new EPI firmware upgrade of my macbook pro (4 months old) a problem that I had 3 months ago re-appeared again :
when I received my laptop (Lion, fully updated) a few months ago it had problems getting internet access after waking from sleep : it could detect the wifi-network, it was connected and when I tried to ping -for example- google.com in terminal it would answer. This means my network was working and DNS was working too...
Only when opening safari, or software update or any other program that wants to go online, it would give me a 'no internet connection' message. After 3 minutes or so, it would work again (wihtout doing anything). I tried renewing the DHCP lease, moving the order of interfaces, re-adding the networks after deleting but nothing helped.
The problem back then was solved after a firmware upgrade, and it would be online 2 sec after waking from sleep.
After this week's firmware upgrade the problem came back......
Anyone have any suggestions, or anybody know if Apple is working on it again?

For me the problem is solved now.....last night software upgrade popped up with "another" EFI-firmware upgrade, and after this it worked again....too bad I didn't look at version number. But I'm happy I wasn't the only one with this problem....
For the questions above : this was abviously firmware related since it happened directly after the first update. If something has worked and nothing changed in the peripherals the problem is in hte thing that DID change...the firmware. I was surfing after solutions and I did see that there is a problem for some people with the way the OS passes on the DNS (so when pinging, the DNS is picked up directly or something, but in applications such as safari.... it grabs the settings from the OS somewhere). There was a terminal-based solution to reset this setting but by the time I wanted to try it the frimware upgrade popped up....but maybe it can help others...

Can i really update my unlocked palm treo 680?

According to the link below, that's the software update for palm treo 680 unlocked, but the instruccion says that if i go to Phone-Menu-Options-Phone-Info-Software, and it says Treo680-1.03-CNG or Treo680-1.03-ATT, the software is not compatible with my device. The thing is that the software says Treo680-1.03-CNG, but it's unlocked. So, is the software update compatible with my treo or not?

If you have the Treo680-1.03-CNG rom in your Treo, it is an AT&T branded Treo that was unlocked. It is not a true unlocked Treo. For an unlocked Treo that is unlocked from the factory, it will have a software version of XXX-ROW. ROW means Rest Of World.
For your Treo, you need the AT&T update. You can find it here;

The only caveat here is that once you upgrade the software, you will need to have the Treo unlocked again. There are sites on the internet that offer this service or if you had the Treo unlocked before, contact the company that unlocked the Treo for you.

Newly unlocked Palm Treo 680 (AT&T) can't update to 1.12???

I just successfully unlocked my literraly new never been used Palm Treo 680 for AT&T with software still TREO680-1.03-ATT, firmware R01.31. I'm trying to run this "Treo680_1_12_ROW_desktopupdater.exe" but consistently getting this screen, "Unsupported Device: Important...This updater only works with Palm Treo smart phone with $Carrier$ service."

Cause the phone has been unlocked does not mean that u use the updater for the unbranded devices. The updaters is not based on the subsidation status but the build of the phone. Since you're using a ATT Treo 680, the appropriate/only update avail for your phone is the 2.11 updater found here:

As long as the phone was unlocked through official methods, then their is no worries for the phone to be locked again since that is pernament.

Iphone 3gs problem with network after upgrading to 5.1.1

I have Iphone 3gs and requested official unlock from my provider. They said they did it and all I have to do is connect it with iTunes.
I had ios 3.x and upgraded to 5.1.1 through iTunes.
But now after upgrade, my phone is not unlocked and niether works with original card.
3G network is one second ok, after one second drops to 1 line, and after that I got No network.
I managed to make call, but that call only last for 1 second.

I wouldn't assume that. Don't know anyone who changed carriers without canceling the original. The intermittent connections he describes are typical of SIM card issues.
The point is that your statement that "updating is not enough" is incorrect. When he "updated" to iOS 5, a full restore was already done. If there were errors during that process, restoring again might help, but its not necessary to restore.

Problem with network after deleting NIC teaming.

We have server HP ProLiant DL360p Gen8 with Windows Server 2012. Couple months ago I created a team NIC Teaming (use 2 network interfaces, the other 2 are disable and not connected). Also NLB (Network Load Balancing) feature was installed
but not configure (I think it is important). IIS and MS SQL 2012 Express were installed too and anything else
Now I need delete team NIC Teaming and use network interfaces separately (with different IPs but the same network 192.168.1.0). When I delete team and configure IPv4 with static IP (we don't have DHCP) network does nor work. Because there is no default gateway
in IPv4 properties. It is problem and I don't know how fix this. When I recover team NIC Teaming - all OK. I checked registry and Gateway is in Interfaces (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\<Adapter
GUID>)
I uncheked NLB in network adapter's settings.
I did
netsh interface ip reset
I checked Route Print - 0.0.0.0 to 192.168.1.1 is present in single copy.
I reinstalled drivers network adapter - it fixed problem before restart. After restart the problem recovered :)
I don't know what should do next.. I cannot resetup OS. Could you please help with this, please. And sorry for my English.

After this please try to check the protocol which bounded properly .
If it is normal and still can not access outside as you mentioned above , please try to open the device manager -->
view --> show hidden devices --> then try to remove all the devices under network adapters
(I would recommend you to note the driver files' path in the properties of physical NIC in device manager --> tab
driver --> driver details , try to delete the file after remove the NIC in device manage )
Then restart your computer , install your NIC driver and retry .

Well, I fixed problem finally. :) I deleted all network adapters in device manager with driver file. Than I restarted server and Windows Server setuped Microsoft driver. After that all work! I tried to setup HP driver and problem comes back. I can
conclude that the problem is in the driver manufacturer. Thanks for all and good luck.

Problem with network after installing Parallels

I decided I wanted to try installing Windows 7 on Boot Camp and then downloaded a trial of Parallels 4 and installed the Boot Camp partition in Parallels. Everything seemed to be working fine at first but since doing that I cannot connect to Mozy to do my backup any more. My Parallels trial has now expired and I have uninstalled it and also uninstalled Windows 7 on Boot Camp but I can still not connect with Mozy. It gets stuck on "Communicating with servers" and won't go any further.
Is it possible that Boot Camp or Parallels changed something in my network settings? Everything else in my network works except for Mozy. It is very frustrating because I paid for a 2-year subscription to Mozy and now I can't use it.

Geforce 6600 GT VIVO - Problem of network after WDM drivers installation

I have a big problem and I am not able to fix it. I have a MSI Geforce 6600 GT VIVO with the last nvidia drivers.
I have tried to install the WDM drivers (the one on the CD-ROM or the last issued on the nvidia site) and any
time I did it a new network connection was created (Microsoft TV/Video Connection).
I cannot remove it and it was still there after several reboots. The problem is because of the new network
connection I'am not able to have internet connection (high-band modem using ethernet ; freebox).
Any idea to help me. I didn't find any solution on newsgroups.

I have a problem that seems virtually the same as Andre31bis's. I recently installed an MSI NX 6600GT VTD128 on my system (AMD Athlon XP 3200+, MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR--BIOS version 7.7, NForce chipset drivers version 4.27--with onboard NVidia LAN chip, 1 GB Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2 DDRAM, Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card, Windows 2000 SP4 with all updates, and DSL Internet service). I have the latest NVidia drivers (including video capture) for the card and it works perfectly except that the video capture drivers create a conflict with the network connections. Upon initial installation of the video capture drivers, the VIVO functions work quite well, but when the system is rebooted, the software loads extremely slowly, the network connections do not load, preventing network access, as well as the loading of Norton Antivirus's autoprotect, and ZoneAlarm takes many minutes to load. On such subsequent reboots, looking in the adapters and bindings tab of the advanced settings of network connections shows that none of the network adapters have loaded. I tried the advice given to Andre31bis by user_name, but that had no apparent effect.
Clearly, however, the network interface the video capture drivers try to establish conflicts with the LAN interface and prevents either from loading. I checked the DMA and IRQ settings while the drivers were installed and functioning and no conflicts were indicated.
Does anyone have any other ideas on how to solve this issue?

Problems with network AFTER 2.1 update

Been using the 3G Iphone for a month or so with no issues. After updating with 2.1, specifically at my home, instead of bars, no service. I rebooted, etc. When I turn off 3G, it works, and I have 5 bars. I really don't wanted to have to mess with the settings everytime I leave my house, and because it has been over a month, can't really return the phone. Anybody else experiencing this issue?

I am having EXACTLY the same issue. I've had mine for nearly two months now. I've had no 3G, or any kind of connectivity problems from home during that time. I've typically had full bars at home.
Yesterday, after updating, I noticed that my iPhone was showing "no service" at home. Every couple minutes I'd notice that it would get connected to AT&T, but no 3G, and then it would lose connectivity within a minute.
I naively thought that this was just a problem with the towers in my area, so I didn't worry too much about it and went to bed. This morning, I've been experiencing the same issue.
I tried rebooting a couple times, that didn't help. When I disabled 3G, my reception came back, and I have full bars. The full bars have been consistent, but every time I enable 3G, connectivity disappears and I'm left with "no service".
Is this problem uncommon? Is my iPhone defective? Am I doing something wrong that I don't know about?
This is my first Apple product and I must say that between all of the 2.0 stability issues and this that my experience has been pretty negative.

Problem in TimeMachine after Mountain Lion upgrade

I have a problem in the time machine after upgrading to the Moutain Lion.
When I make a backup, I get a message saying that the disk is not available.
Before the update Time Machine was working perfectly.
I've done the suggested procedure to delete and recreate the sparsebundle manually and it still fails.
I note that the share in finder which uses the time machine to backup displays the status of connection failure
I'm using the Home Media network cloud edition of IOmega

I didn't clean install Mountain Lion yet (I am still on Lion), and the "problem" is that I have been using a HDD with a Master Boot Record partition scheme and Mac OS Extended (journaled) format for doing my Time Machine backups : it's working without any problem for a year now, but I'm afraid of doing the update to Mountain Lion because apparently Time Machine doesn't support Master Boot Record Drives very well (it prefers GUID partition tables), so I think that I'll have to reformat the my external HDD.
I don't know if it's the Master Boot Record partition scheme which causes these Time Machine problems or not....
I'm just curious to know what partition scheme antonio from belo horizonte is using...

Central storage Problems with iTunes after 10.5 upgrade

I keep my I tunes Library on a Central 2TB network storage device connected to my Router. After installing 10.5, i have been experiencing trouble, every tim I need to re boot my MAC for a software update, ITunes has to "organize" the same Library again. It takes about 5 to 6 hours

OK ... It seems by exiting LR and re-launching it, the problem goes away. I blame Apple for this one, clearly.

Express will not connect to network after Extreme firmware upgrade to 7.2.1

I got the auto update notice for a fimware upgrade to my Extreme to 7.2.1. Once I upgraded I am no longer able to connect my Express. I have done all the resets and have gone through all configuration each time, but after it resets itself after configuring it, it no longer shows up in the AirPort Utility until I reset it again. The only thing unique about my Extreme config is that I have the Radio Mode set to 802.11b/g compatible. This was necessary to connect TiVo wireless USB adapters to the network.

Problem with airport after snow leopard upgrade.

I know there are several threads about this already but none of the "answers" to those threads fix my problem. I just upgraded snow leopard and installed the new update. Since then I can connect to my wifi, but nothing will load. My airport says that I am connected and that I have a full signal, but whenever I open my internet browser (firefox, safari), nothing will load, it just stays on the screen that says "loading" at the top. I've tried deleting the "Automatic" airport option and creating my own but that has not worked. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?? Right now the only way i can access the internet is be plugging directly into the router.

It's probably worth trying just to ensure that the issue is (or isn't) location specific. Preferably to go somewhere that you've never connected before and has free WiFi without crazy encryption. An Apple Store is a great location to try.
If it does work at the new location, I'd be inclined to reset the router and set it back up (open network) and see if that works and then add encryption from there.
If it doesn't work at the new location, then I'd consider reloading the OS if you've already tried the new network location.
