Unlocked Sim-Free Device-VZW Prepaid? Will it work?

I like the idea of having a no contract plan and would like to know if the unlocked sim-free iPhone 6 16 GB would work with Verizon Prepaid plan? Thanks!

Call Verizon and ask.
ManSinha is incorrect. CDMA carriers don't whitelist IMEI numbers. They have to enter the MEID number for the CDMA device into their database in order to activate it on the CDMA network.
The new unlocked / SIM Free iPhone 6 and 6 Plus being sold in the US are advertised by Apple as able to work on Verizon. Whether or not Verizon will allow it to be used on their pre-paid service is another matter. You'll have to ask them directly if you want a definitive answer.

  • Is the new TMobile contract free iPhone6 factory unlocked? What I mean is will it work in India or Middle east with a local sim over there?

Is the new TMobile contract free iPhone6 factory unlocked? What I mean is will it work in India or Middle east with a local sim card over there?

Previous T-Mobile versions of iPhones (5, 5s, 5C) bought directly from Apple required no activation with T-mobile at all, and would accept any sim card.
Since you are essentially paying full price for the phone. You cannot be locked to a carrier.
They simply came packaged with a T-Mobile sim you could discard and replace with your own.
There's no real reason to think this will change for the new iPhones.

I bought 2 iPhone's 5S that were "contract-free" and they worked just fine with other carriers.
Could some one from the US check if the "contract-free" iPhone 6 could be used with a local carrier?
When they are released, I'm sure many people will do just that.

  • Unlocked sim-free Iphone 5S in retail store

Can I buy an unlocked sim-free Iphone 5S in any Apple retail store? I cannot buy it online as I'm abroad but coming to US next month.

Buy the AT&T version of the phone from the Apple store. Do not activate the phone with the AT&T sim and instead use the sim from the provider that you are going to use.
You also may not have 4G/LTE data when you get back to your home country. You will also have no warranty on the phone outside of the US. If you have a problem with the phone you will have to return (or just the phone) to the US. You cannot ship to Apple for repairs either. Is that risk worth saving some money? Only you can decide.

How can I get a sim card for Japan and will it work with my locked Iphone 6

You cannot use a SIM card on a carrier locaked phone, other than a sim from the carrier the phone is locked to. You must first get the carrier it is locked to, to unlock your phone. Apple does not unlock phones.

  • How do I get my sim free Iphone 4 MMS messaging to work with T-mobile

I have a SIM-free iPhone from Apple UK purchased in the UK which while in the states I am using on t-mobile. I am having a problem with Picture messaging.
When a picture message is sent to me, I get an error message: "The media content was not included due to a picture resolution or message size restriction"
I can send photos to other phones but not receive.
apple support USA told me they are not trained on what to do about a Factory unlocked SIM-free apple iphone, as all US phones are tied to AT&T.
If any body has any Ideas or knows a setting I should change it would be appreciated. Thanks

T-Mobile told me they are having this problem with iPhone 4 and until apple gives them some information on this, which they won't as iPhone 4 is not officially supported by T-mobile as it is locked to AT&T in US. They have a work around for jailbroken phones but I do not wish to jailbreak. I was hoping some person cleverer than I may have worked this out and know of a setting

  • If I buy an iPhone 5s unlocked from a USA apple store will it work in the UK

If I buy an iPhone 5s unlocked from a USA apple store will it work in the UK

Only if it is unlocked, and they are not selling the unlocked iPhone at the Apple store yet.
EDIT:  I'm sorry, I missed that you referred to iPhone 5S. There should be an unlocked 5S, and it could work in Malaysia, but probably not with all of the bands there. Also, the warranty for the device is good only in the US.

  • Hi...I buy iphone5 from Saudi Arabia but I don't have facetime ...now I m shifting to India ..will it work in India or not if I insert a Indian SIM card in my iPhone will it work or not.. Plz help

Hi...I buy iphone5 from Saudi Arabia but I don't have facetime ...now I m shifting to India ..will it work in India or not if I insert a Indian SIM card in my iPhone will it work or not.. Plz help

"India" is a country. Not a cellular carrier.
There are 2 supported carriers in India. Aircel and Aritel. See this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937
If you have a legitimately unlocked iPhone, it will work with a properly provisioned SIM from either Aircel or Airtel.
It may work with other carriers in India, but not all features may work as expected.

  • If i buy an unlocked iphone 4s in the usa will it work in Australia? and will the warranty be valid in astralia as i have been told that apple have a world wide after sales service but also been told warranties are only valid in the country of purchase

If i buy an unlocked iphone 4s in the usa will it work in Australia? and will the warranty be valid in astralia as i have been told that apple have a world wide after sales service but also been told warranties are only valid in the country of purchase? Cheers

Each country is a separate business. If Apple in Australia fixes a phone purchased in another country it reduces their profit. The good news is that Apple stores will frequently replace phones purchased in other countries under warranty, but they are not required to do so. Some countries are more liberal than others. India never does, for example.
Why don't you just buy it in Australia? The price difference can't be that great.

  • I am from Nepal and want to buy unlocked sim free iphone 5s from USA. So will it work in Nepal?

I want to buy sim free iphone 5s from USA. So can I be able to use it here in Nepal with either of NCELL or NTC network?

Any unlocked iPhone should work as a GSM phone anywhere in the world. However, iPhones have additional features that will not work on networks that are not partners with Apple. The features that may not work  include:
    iTunes store and App Store
Visual Voicemail (almost certainly will not work)
    LTE networks
    3G networks
    iMessage
    FaceTime
    MMS
    GameCenter
Your Apple warranty will not be honored outside of the country of purchase. You may or may not be able to get services to fix it for a fee; I don't know if independent repair shops in Nepal can handle the iPhone. I do know that they cannot get official Apple replacement parts, so any parts that are needed will be gray market.
You might be be better off getting a phone in India; at least getting repairs and warranty service won't require traveling back to the US.

  • No such thing as an unlocked, SIM free iPhone !

My wife bought an unlocked, SIM iPhone 4S so that she could change network provider at will if she had problems. Trouble is that she has now found out that when you start an SIM only contract Apple locks the phone to the provider when you first connect to iTunes. She now has to unlock her iPhone in order to change provider. Why does Apple do this? It makes buying an unlocked iPhone pointless and also seriously devalues the iPhone.

For the last time an iPhone purchased from an Apple Corporate store does not lock to ANYTHING or any carrier
    Fact
Your wife buys a sim only contract from Vodafone
That will not lock the iphone however if you are convinced the iPhone has locked to Vodafone then take the iPhone straight to the Apple Store .If you paid full retail price and it has locked to a carrier that is wrong ,and Apple will rectify the issue without debate
They actually advertise the benefits of buying from them and also the flexibility of not being locked to a carrier
    Don't wait for vodafone
something is not correct Apple will resolve it

  • Unlock sim free, unlock sim free

I have purchase from a hongkong store an iphone 4 32GB and when i bring it to my country and insert a SIM, the phone is asking for a sim. and i undersatnd that the phone is not SIM FREE.
Now i am in MAURITIUS and i would like to have the phone unlockto use it.
    please help me.
    thanks

AS provided,  the ONLY place that can unlock your iphone is the carrier to which it is locked ( if they provide this service).  You would have to contact the carrier to which it is locked and ask them if they do this.

  • Sim free iPhone 6 - How does it work

Can someone help me understand how the sim free iPhone 6 works with all carriers?  I understand how the sim card works between GSM carriers like ATT and T-mobile, but for Sprint and Version the sim is used for the LTE data network not voice.  It servers a different purpose on a CDMA carrier vs GSM.
So, if you purchase the unlocked iPhone 6 can you switch back and forth between Sprint and T-Mobile?  What is the process for the swap?   i.e., how does the CDMA part of the phone get programed to work on the Sprint network?.

According to Apple you can use the unlocked phone on Sprint and Verizon.  Here is a portion from the Apply page about the unlocked iPhone
    About the Unlocked iPhone
The unlocked iPhone includes all the features of iPhone but without a wireless contract commitment or a carrier installment plan. You can activate and use the unlocked iPhone on the supported wireless network of your choice, such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, or Sprint in the United States.
I was also told by a Sprint rep that they will activate the unlocked iPhone 6, iPad Air 2, and the new iPad Mini purchased directly from Apple, but they would not activate a device purchased from another carrier and then unlocked.

  • How Many Versions of Unlock/Sim-free iPhone 3g?

I'm getting confused on the various Unlocked versions of iPhone 3G sold throughout the world especially in countries like Hong Kong, NZ, Italy, Singapore etc.
Some said its Factory Unlocked from Apple but some need to be unlock by the Telco. Some said it need to Sync with iTunes Store for the first time... etc...etc..
    Can someone help to clarify?
    Thanks.

Certain Wireless carriers will sell them Unlocked.
The price for an unlocked is pretty high.
They are usually sold as unlocked already via the Wireless carrier. Not Apple.
The only one I knew for sure was T-Mobile Germany way back. But never kept up on all the companies and how they sold them so my info is outdated. Sounds like you know more.
