Unlocking Home folder for Adobe Bridge

I have an iMac and Adobe Photoshop CS6.  Recently, my settings have changed so that I cannot access my home folder on Adobe Bridge.  It is showing as locked and I can't figure out how to unlock it so that I may access my pictures subfolder.  When I click on the Home folder icon, it opens up a Finder window and it does not show any of my folders or thumbnails in Bridge. If I click on a photo in the Finder window then it launches Photoshop.  Any suggestions as to how I can reset my settings to allow Bridge to access my folders?

It is showing as locked and I can't figure out how to unlock it so that I may access my pictures subfolder.
Where is your Home folder showing as locked? Sorry, that is not quite clear. When you are using the file choser in Adobe Bridge or when you are viewing your Home folder in the Finder?
Are you seeing a padlock icon on the Home folder icon or a non-trespassing sign?

  • Where is the extension folder for Adobe Bridge? (Mac)

I am trying to install the output module on Adobe Bridge. I am totally new to Creative Suite and photoshop. I can't find any information on bridge extensions at all. Here's the page I found on installing the output module- http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/install-output-module-bridge-cc.html
I downloaded it but after that is says to copy it into the extension folder. Where is the extension folder? Is it is Bridge? Is it in Finder? Any information on extensions is much appreciated! What exactly are extensions? What is the difference between the extension folder and extension manager?
    Thank you!

At first sight I can' see anything wrong about the correct locations you used.
There was no need to delete all workspaces but that also should do no harm I would think.
You once pointed at the bridge6.plist file but it is not clear to me what you did with it. Personally I would quit Bridge and delete this plist file manually and then restart with again holding down option and use reset preferences.
And you did also use the reset to standard workspaces instead of the reset workspace to only reset the selected workspace. I don't know for sure this will make a difference but it is worth a try.
And while you are in the user library to delete the plist file for Bridge also look in the folder caches in this library.
User / library/caches/adobe/Bridge CC and inhere find and delete both the plug in and cache folder, then restart Bridge.
Finally it might be also worth a try to download CS6, it should not be needed to do so but it was one of the earlier solutions that worked. In your ACC menu click on any app that shows blue and this brings you to the CC website. Choose download center and find PS. Click on the icon and this gives you the detailed download page. Inhere you can change CC to CS6.
Download PS6 it and install it (this also installs the CS6 version of Bridge which was not a separate download in CS6). Then try first start CS6 and start the AOM which is installed by default in this version.
Then when having used this once quit CS6 and try CC (or even combine with restarting your Mac).
Hope this helps, because I'm running out of options

  • Hidden network drives "home" and "net" shown in folder view Adobe Bridge CS5 / Lion Problem

Updated to Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion and got this "problem":
The hidden network drives "home" and "net" shown in folder view Adobe Bridge CS5 (unlike in 10.6 Snow Leopard).
Normally these network drives are hidden (in Finder and other Apps) - but Adobe Bridge CS5 is showing them, despite "show hidden files" is unchecked in Adobe Bridge.
Not a dramatic "bug", but it also shouldn't be a big problem for Adobe Bridge engineers to solve this. My first question to the Adobe Support was answered like: "we don't know what Apple did change, so we cannot do anything". Hmmm, are you serious?
I tried to resolve that problem by myself but failed. So, if an Adobe engineer is reading this post: perhaps Adobe Bridge is ignoring the automounter master map (that was my approach to resolve it):
    # Automounter master map
    +auto_master                    # Use directory service
    /net           -hosts                 -nobrowse,hidefromfinder,nosuid
    /home                                        auto_home       -nobrowse,hidefromfinder
    /Network/Servers               -fstab
    /-                              -static
You cannot do anything to these folders, so it is not a serious issue, but, I mean, did someone at Adobe check compatibiliy with 10.7 and ignored this issue? If so, are there an other issues ignored?
But I guess, the compatibilty update for Bridge CS5 for Lion is Bridge CS6 - to be fair: I also have to say, that in general Bridge is running okay on Mac OS X 10.7.2 (but could be better, as always;)

    Hi Curt Y,
thanks for your answer! Yes you' re right, I forgot to mention that ... before I posted here, I sent a bug report via the Apple Bug Report webpage about the issue ... of course, here are 2 parties involved.
I had a similiar problem once and I got a meesage back from Apple: "that it is a 3rd party problem, sorry" (it was about color management).
I am just a user and I often feel very strange about Apple's (topsecret) communication behaviour ... Whatever, what do I know about software engineering? - Right.
Maybe someone on this forum has an idea, because I'm afraid, thus it is not a serious bug, no one would take care about it in the next time (during my research I found an older post here on the forum about the same problem ...).
    thanks for help in advance,

  • Shared home folder for OSX and Windows

    Hello,
I am wondering if it is possible to have a shared home folder for Windows and OSX.
We have an AD and ODS. Is this possible, if it is, using CIFS?
    Hope hearing from anyone
    Best Regards.

    hallo victor,
thanks for your answer. unfortunately this does not solve my problem. my sap landscape is more complex.
there are several sap installations in diverent windows domains and some are on as/400 (and there is another windows domain) all are in different networks and are protected by firewall. furthermore there is a rule (maybe some exceptions are allowed) that there must not be qntc connections over these firewalls.
with a shared folder between a windows workstation in one network and an as/400 in another network it works fine. but as a mentioned first - there is the problem with the sapservice<sid> userid which is to long for as/400 environment. I think there must be a tricky solution (hope so).

  • The home folder for user isn't located in the usual place......

    ....or can't be accessed.
Ok so I have trawled the internet and found this to be a known problem, however mine has an extra twist.
Ok, my Mac has a local admin account, lets call it Admin, but the account I use is a network account called PBN.
This network account does not create a home folder path to the server, as such it stores a user folder in Macintosh HD/Users/.
Since buying this mac this has been working fine, no issues, but today when I log onto the machine it gets the error "The home folder for <user> isn't located in the usual place or can't be accessed", whats more is that its created a new folder labelled "~".
    Things I have tried:
    1) repair permissions and repair disk while booted into SL DVD
    2) Right clicking while in System Pref - Users to get to advanced options to check the home drive path (Can't do this because its a network account although the profile is stored locally)
    3) xattr -d com.apple.FinderInfo / on problematic machine
Couldn't do this on the PBN account as it has no permissions (although it is a domain admin)
attr file no found error the admin account
    4) xattr -d com.apple.FinderInfo /volumes/users/ while booted into another machine with broken machine in target disk mode.
So, I am at a major loss and would really preciate any help

The error messages regarding network homes really don't offer any specific clues as to what's wrong. The error message you're getting means one of several things - you've done something wrong setting up your server, you've done something wrong setting up your clients, your server has hardware/software issues, or your network infrastructure is bad. I'm honestly not trying to give you a bad time here, just going over possibilities.
DNS, which you mentioned, is a good place to start. You mentioned that forward/reverse lookups work, and that's a good sign. But just to be sure, have you run sudo changeip -checkhostname
If that reports back that the names match and there is nothing to change, then it's pretty certain that DNS is not the issue. Just to be sure, your clients are using your OS X Server, or whatever server is hosting DNS records for your setup?
The next step is to double-check permissions on the shares where user homes are located. The clients should also have accurate date&time settings.
The logs on the clients and server can also offer clues, however cryptic they may be, be sure to look at them if you haven't.
Also, has this setup worked before, if not, can you describe how you set everything up? I've been stymied by OS X Server myself, so I get where you're at, but the more details you provide, the better chance that Tony, Mr. Hoffman, or other folks here can offer a few more clues/suggestions.

  • How do i get the installation package for Adobe Bridge

    Hello,
Our Creative services Department have taken a Creative Cloud account and they only want to install Adobe Bridge, however when i access the Creative Cloud account there is no installer for Adobe Bridge. Now i believe Bridge is installed as part of the installation package for other Creative Cloud products such as Photoshop, so how would i find the installer package for just Bridge?
    Any help greatly appreciated

and it seems like I saw this somewhere,

  • Smaller home folder for encryption  - cant move movies

i wanted to set up file vault and encrypt my home folder - but i have a lot of movies and music and pictures- so it would be wasteful to encrypt all that.
i dragged the movies from my home folder to the first window that opens when you open the drive, but that didn't seem to move them out of my home folder which still lists 60gigs.
where should i move these items to, to keep them out of my home folder for fast encryption?
also, on a mac it seems hard to move a folder to another location on the same drive. if i drag it there the computer spends time copying it there and then i have to delete it. i've found a way to make this happen in automater but its not so easy and doesn't work great. is there a shortcut for simply draging files to where you want them to be without them copying? (i'm talking about within one drive)
    thanks for your help,
    m

If you are on the same volume dragging and dropping any file or folder "moves" the file or folder. If you use COMMAND-C to "copy" a file or folder and COMMAND-V to "paste" it in another location then this "copies" the file or folder. If you open a Finder window on your "source" and another one on the "destination" then you can simply drag the file or folder from the "source" window to the "destination" window. This will "move" not "copy" the "source" to the "destination."
If you don't want to encrypt your Movies, Music, Pictures folders then copy them to an external hard drive and delete their contents from the internal drive.
Alternatively, you can create a separate user account in which you will only keep your sensitive information and encrypt that account leaving the other account unencrypted but containing no sensitive data.
Alternatively, put all your sensitive data into a separate folder and encrypt the folder. For added security get an external hard drive and store the encrypted folder on the external drive. You can then disconnect the external drive and lock it away for added security.

I accidentally ran Disk Utility (repair permissions and disk) from the panther disk that came with my computer instead of from my Tiger disk. Now things are really screwed up. • Custom home folder for BC FTP accounts?

Does anyone know if you can customize the home folder for FTP account/login to BC like you can with other hosting providers? I know you can manage access with account roles, but I don't think it goes as specific as what folder on the server can be accessed by a specific account. Right now all FTP accounts login straight to the root folder.

    Hi Steve,
Unfortunately you cannot control or customize this further via BC FTP.  The system will always open in the root.  All you can do via FTP is create/delete new folders as well as upload/remove files.

  • Home folder for AD users?

I'm upgrading the servers from 10.6.8 to 10.7.. am running some testing before i do the final upgrade, i have noticed something.. I couldn't assign home folder for Active directory users.. I'm running Mac OSX 10.7.2
The Open Directory server is bound to Active directory server and when i open the Server app, and under users.. I clicked on + sign to add users and select the type as "imported user from another directory".. I can see all the active directory users and i can import them but then it doesn't allow me to create home folder for them.. while it works fine for the open directory users..
This what perfectly working under 10.6.8 but not under 10.7.2, unless there is a work around that I dont know about..
    Any idea ?

    Hi,
Could still do with trying to work out if this is possible. If anyone has any ideas / suggestions it would be much appreciated.

  • What is proper path syntax for home folder for users

I'm taking over for someone who has left the organization.
They have used two methods for setting up a home folder for each AD user. I think they did this because over time they learned some things and just changed the way they did things. I'm not sure, but I'm trying to understand which is best to use going forward.
We use 2003 - and 2008R2 environment for AD.
We have a folder on our server called D:\userfiles
In this folder we have each department with a folder eg.
    D:\userfiles\hr
    D:\userfiles\accting
    D:\userfiles\department1
    etc.
When we set up a User in AD we click on the Profile tab and then select H: as the "Home Folder" and then in the To box enter one of two paths.
My question is which path is best. They both seem to work.
The one with the $ at the end I think creates a share in the shared folder when you look at shared folders in the computer management on the server for that user.
Anyway I'm not really sure which to use or what the difference is.   I would like to use one or other.
We also have a script that is run when people log on but I'm unclear if that is just   a red herring in this discussion.
    Thanks.

    Hi stevwolf,
Based on my understanding, you would like to know what the mean of the dollar sign($) at the end of the share name. Right?
The share name which has the dollar sign($) at the end means it is a hiden share. Hidden shares are not listed when you look through the shares on a computer or use the
net view command. In your case, the folder joebleow$ will not be liated in the path
    \\server1.

  • Any hope for Adobe Bridge's Flickr Export feature?

    Hi,
I've been using Adobe Bridge CS5 for a few years now and I love it's features.  However, only recently have I decided to explore posting pictures to on-line albums, in particular, Flickr.
Having experimented with Bridge's Flickr Export Panel, I notice that it always asks me to log-in and then it can re-authenticate.  I had started a discussion on Flickr's help forum, and the best suggestion was that CS5's Flickr Export module may be using http: instead of https:  I always get an error and cannot upload any photos to my Flickr account.
Any chance that this is the problem and that there is a fix for it?
Is there an updated Flickr export module?
Are there other export modules, say to Google+?
I am currently not interested in opening a Facebook account, so I don't want to use the Facebook export module.
Please reference the below link to read the Flickr forum discussion.
Flickr: The Help Forum: Flickr Export Module always asking for authentication in Bridge CS5
    Thanks,
    Randy

I called the Adobe 1-800 support number yesterday and went through the phone prompts and found that I could no longer connect to CS support. It just told me that phone support is not available and to go to the web site for support. It then ended the call. Since the phone message I got on Friday told me to call them back I called the number again and simply hit the prompts for Creative Cloud support and told them that I had an open case. I gave her my case number and see looked it up and immediately asked me if she could take control of my computer. Wow! They obviously have a much higher level of support staff for the Creative Cloud subscribers as I doubt if the Level 1 staff I talked to for regular CS-6 support could even do that, (or would know how). I told her that a Level 2 Tech had already done that earlier with no results. She put me on hold while she checked with the next level of support. After a minute or so she came back on and said that a Level 2 tech would call me back to troubleshoot my issue. I stayed home all day yesterday waiting for the call but nothing. I just hope that when they do call me I am actually home this time or we could be playing telephone tag forever. This is the second time I have called them back when they left a message on my answering machine.
You would think that when they call and get an answering machine that they would try to call back later, instead of making you call them back at the general support number and ending up talking to a different Level 1 person each time, who then has to research your case and then tries to fix the problem themselves when they can’t, or else I wouldn’t have been sent up to Level 2 in the first place. I’ve dealt with other support issues with other companies and they will dedicate one person to your case and that’s who you deal with each time. It’s much more efficient for them and for the customer. I hope someone from Adobe actually reads this forum once in a while. There customer support could definitely use improvement.
The next time I talk to them I am going to point them to this forum thread to prove it’s not just me.
Can I ask everyone to post what operating system they are using. Maybe that will narrow things down, or prove that it’s not an operating system problem?
I have the same problem on both my desktop and my laptop. Both are running Windows 7, 64 bit.
Photoshop CS-6, 64 bit only on both.

  • How to disable Updates for adobe bridge in photoshopCS6

I was able to grey out the adobe photoshop updates in help menu. using the preferences file under
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0\
But the adobe bridge which is present with in photoshop, "Help"->"update" option is not greyed out and thows error "unable to update, you do not have internet connection or you are not an system administrator". Same is the case with AAMEE configuration.
But if I delete this preference file, then I can launch it. Here my requirement is to grey our the update option both in photoshop and bridge as this will be deployed enterprise wide. Help me out how I can do this?
    "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?><Preferences><Suppressed>1</Suppressed></Preferences>

    Hi Venkat,
See if this helps (as taken from Adobe helpx http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/disable-update-manager-administrators-cs3.html. Looks like CS3 & CS4, I know. But worth giving a shot:
On Windows XP or Windows Vista
          Using Regedit.exe, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe
Create a new key in this folder named "Updater"
Create a new DWORD value within this key named "Enterprise with a value of "1"
Also, try one or both of these:
HKLM\Software\Adobe\Updater - Create a DWORD named 'Enterprise' with value '1'.
HKCU\Software\Adobe\Updater - Create a DWORD named 'Enterprise' with value '1'.
    HKLM - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    HKCU - HKEY_CURRENT_USER
(I'm sure you're aware of this, but for other users who visit this thread for similar issue - this will help!)
Let us know how it goes.

  • Library Cache for Adobe Bridge CS4

I'm trying to clear up space on my harddrive for my macbook, and in my library folder, there is a cache folder which then has various adobe products.  The Adobe Bridge CS4 folder has almost 20 GB of stuff in it.  Can I get rid of this (safe to delete)?  Why does it build up so much?  Do I need to periodically manage this manually?  Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

The cache folder for Bridge can grow to huge proportions because it keeps
information for all earlier cached files. After quitting Bridge you can
delete this folder (user library/caches /Adobe/Bridge CS4/cache) by dragging
this to the trash and empty bin to make space on your HD.
Restarting Bridge creates a brand new cache folder in this place but this
one is empty. Therefore you will need to recache all files you want to show
at high quality in the preview window again because with deleting this data
the cache with all previews (including the HQ preview that are mainly
responsible for the huge size) from previous cached files will also be gone.
Personally I use this method on a regular base including restarting Bridge
holding down option key to refresh preferences, this gives a fresh start for
    Bridge.
I mainly use Bridge for sorting, rating and adding metadata and once the DNG
files I want have been developed they are transferred to my archive and
don't need to be in the cache file anymore
So with keep in mind that you need to recache the current files you are
using (takes some time depending on amount and size of the files you can
safely delete the current huge cache file.
Can I get rid of this (safe to delete)?  Why does it build up so much?  Do I
need to periodically manage this manually?

  • Indesign Contact Sheet script for Adobe Bridge 1.0.4.6

Our company currently has all the Adobe CS2 products but as stand alone applications and not part of the Creative Suite. Therefore, we don't seem to have all the functionality of the suite.
In particular the script to create Contact Sheets from Indesign CS2 of items through the script in Adobe Bridge.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to add the functionality of the contact sheet script for Indesign to Bridge without having the Adobe Creative Suite? And Why?
We are looking for something to replace an extension used by Quark to create contact sheets from Badia software. I am loath to upgrade this extension unless absolutely necessary. We receave thousands of photo's a week and output contact sheets for our editors to pick and choose which photos they want/like.
