Unlocking my old iPhone 4s before selling it.

I just upgraded and want to sell my old iPhone 4s phone, which I purchased through Verizon. I've had an account with Verizon for over 7 years now. How do I go about making sure my buyer will be able to use it on other carriers if they wish?

That's the same problem I have. Only I myself bought it in the United States and just block, I do not know that I could use in Russia. If you get the chance to help with this issue. Only I do not have a sim card company Verision

  • How to get official unlock for old iphone 3gs?

Hi, I switched to Verizon iPhone 4, so my old AT&T iPhone 3gs is no longer in use.
I travel internationally and would like to unlock my old iPhone 3gs so I can use it with sim cards when I travel.
I understand there is now an "official" unlocking that can happen through iTunes. Is that true? How can I do it?
Or is there another way to unlock my old phone that is legal?
    Thanks!

Yes, it is, however, verizon will unlock your SIM card slot for free. The requirements:
    * Must be a Verizon Wireless customer.
    * The iPhone 4S being unlocked must be active on a Verizon Wireless line of service.
    * The line of service must be active at least 60 days.
    * The line of service must be in good standing for the past 60 days.
    * Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months.
You can go here for all the details.
I can confirm this as I did it last November for my sister before she traveled to London.

  • I just upgrade my Verizon Plan from an iphnoe 4s to an iphone 5. I would like to unlock my old iphone 4s. How can I do this?

I would like to have verizon unlock my old iphone 4s that I upgrade to a 5C. In the past, with some of my previous models, I called Verizon support and they unlocked the phone. Since I will be many months abroad, I would like to know how to be able to contact Verizon for this support.

Very nice to be traveling abroad, Pkumpis! I can certainly understand needing a Global Phone while traveling. Are you still currently in the U.S.? The phone will need to be active on a current VZW account, and then you can reach out to Global Support at 800-711-8300 for assistance with unlocking it.
    Thank you,

how do unlock my old iphone so i an use any sim??

There is no Unlock Code, only the approval of the original provider. Then just open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer with USB cable, and then click Restore button of iTunes to Restore the iPhone. At the end of the Restore process, iTunes screen on computer will show large message, Congratulations the iPhone is Unlocked.

  • Do I need to unlock my old iPhone before I get a new one?

My contract with AT&T was up in June and I'm planning to re-sign when I buy iPhone 5. I currently have iPhone 4, which I was planning to give to my niece who currently has one of those pay-as-you-go phones. (She will not be using it with any major carriers.)
My question is do I need to unlock my current iPhone 4 from AT&T before I buy iPhone 5? Or how would it work?

It depends on which network your daughter is on.  If it's Orange UK, then no the iPhone 4 will not need unlocking, but if any other network, including 4GEE or T-Mobile, then yes you will first need to get it unlocked.
That can be done by filling in this online form.

  • How do I unlock an old iphone which isn't now associated to my account?

I have given my old iphone to my niece and it needs to be unlocked so she can put another providers sim in it. The only option on the website is for my current hand set and not my old one, I have tried ringing technical support but was waiting to get through for 45 mins before they closed - how do I do this?

It costs £8.99 to unlock a device from EE there are a number of options that you might be able to use to get your device unlocked.
    But first this.
Only contract devices have to be used for 6 months first before requesting a unlock. PAYG, Sim only or secondhand devices this rule doesn't apply.
1, If you still with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the unlocking request form with your details. Any phone that was replaced by insurance you will need to let EE know that it was a replacement device if your still in contract. You can also unlock an old device if you have a upgrade device on your account just fill out the request form with your details and the phone number you used with this device. It doesn't matter if you use this number on a new device now.
2, If you already have an account with EE and you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device lock to EE and you would like it unlocked you just need to use your Sim card in the device so the IMEI number gets registered to your account. Once your account has the IMEI number on it you can the fill out the online unlock request form.
3, If you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device and don't have a EE/Orange/T-Mobile account and you don't want to use the EE networks you need to get a PAYG SIM card and set up an account. Top-up the account to £8.99 to pay the unlock fee than fill out the online unlock request form.
(If using a PAYG you must make sure that the £8.99 is on your account when EE take the payment if it's not your device will not get unlocked and EE will not inform you that the unlock request has failed. It's you job to make sure the cedit is there when EE go to take it they will not inform you when there going to take it)
    Or
4, A non EE customer can take the device to your local EE store and request the unlock from there it will still cost £8.99 and it still takes 7 to 10 days
5, If you would like a device unlocked and you are no longer with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the online unlock request form using the number that you used with that device on EE/Orange/T-Mobile. EE will unlock devices that are up to 10 years old that were used on their network. You will still be billed to unlock the device.
6, If you have brought or thinking about buying a 2nd hand device and you are not in the UK you are going to find it very hard to get a device unlocked when you setup an account you need a UK address also you will need to get a PAYG SIM card but you will also need to find away of topping up the account with GBP, if you can not do any of this the device will not get unlocked there are no exceptions.

  • Will Apple or AT&T unlock my old iPhone 3G if I buy new iPhone 3G S?

    Here's the story,
I want to buy the New iPhone 3G S (32GB) and currently have an iPhone 3G (16GB). I am going to cancel my ATT contract (and bite the bullet on the termination fee) and buy the new 3G S by entering a new contract. My question is this. Since I'm going to go into a new contract (due to the 3G S), and my old iPhone 3G is going to be off contract and 'mine', since it is no longer officially tied to a contract, will AT&T or Apple unlock it for me so I can either sell it (for others to use on AT&T or possible T-Mobile), or for use it in other parts of the world with a diff sim card? I'm wondering if they'll unlock it like the Hong Kong iPhones that are unlocked.
I don't want to jailbreak it, or use anything. The reason why is because there's always a delay in them releasing updates by about a few days to a few weeks every time there is a new version of iPhone firmware released. I'd rather have it officially done from AT&T or Apple so upgrades could be done immediately and whatever carriers sim card that is being used is good to go. Anyone know if they will do this for me? Or do I need to resort to 'other' unorthodox methods?
    Thank you

I already checked. I purchased my iPhone 3G on the launch date back in July '08. I've paid the bill the day my bill was issued, days ahead of its due date, and for some reason, even through it's magic 8-ball wisdom, said I was not eligible for and upgrade. Not till Dec. of this year at least.
So even though my phone is now technically 'mine' and off their contract, they still won't unlock it for me? How come?

  • How to unlock an old iphone that we can not remeber the password

I have an old iphone 3gs that had a password on it - I am needing to use the phone but can not remeber the password - how can I reset it?

You need to restore it in order to unlock it. Read this first.

You really want to restore using the computer that you sync with so that you can recover all of your data from the backup of the phone.

  • How do I contact Apple about unlocking my old iPhone 3GS the carrier's support is appalling !

I upgraded to an iPhone 4S and changed networks as Orange service abroad was very expensive and poor.  I handed my old iPhone 3GS to my wife and she has a contract with my new network.  However, it does not work as the phone is locked and Orange tell me they have requested an unlock code from Apple.  I am still waiting for this!! How can I contact Apple to check if this is the true situation?

Apple will not unlock an iPhone sold locked to a carrier. Only the carrier will unlock an iPhone. Some carriers, such as AT&T, appear to have policies of never unlocking an iPhone.
