am seriously considering my orange iphone 3gs, signal is very poor, can hardly, use the phone so am considering using my vodafone sim, in my iphone, now i know there are plenty of sights to unlock the iphone, but which one would you guys recomend please, and will it work without any problems, with my vodafone sim, and also i read some where, about aple, locking the phone again, if i conect to itunes, or when there is an os update, is that true, thanks.

yea thanks just rang up Orange and they cam do it after
3 moths of being in contract but still my question is will it then ne just a matter of me popping in my Vodafone sim and will the handset be locked again if I upgrade the os cause the orange chap I was talking to didn't have the faintest idea of wha I was talking about at all so if anyone has had the experience I am considering with unlocking via orange I would really appreciate thanks.

I'm a little bit disappointed to find out that it's going to cost me an admin fee to unlock a phone which was previously on Orange to work with tmobile (ee).
Aren't they all the same company now? If so, then why are they charging their customers a fee to unlock phones which they intend to continue to use with ee? Seems like just another way to get money out of their loyal customers.

Hi I am a long standing customer of Orange/EE and upgraded my phone June 2015. Today I have received an invoice from Orange for £8.99 for an unlocking charge. A quick search reveals Orange and EE are all part of the same company so why the charge? I haven't changed Company. I have been waiting for a code from orange since the 17th of Dec and after 2 seperate requests and £20 paid I was recommended to contact Apple direct to have the phone unlocked. After contacting apple i was advised to attend in store although all through out I have been told that the unlock would be made available through Itunes? Can any one assist?

Also, neither Orange nor anyone else will send you a code. You may receive an email telling you that your unlock request has been processed, after which you restore your iPhone. See:

Orange Unlocked iPhone 1.1.3 - No Problems.

Just upgraded my legally unlocked Orange unit.
No problems, device took the update rebooted.
iTunes told me it needed the new version to activate my phone.
Downloaded the new iTunes, installed it, removed the iPhone from the cradle and reinserted it, got iTunes page saying "Congratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked".
Device seems to be working fine, haven't checked for bugs or glitches yet.
Tried the auto-locate in Maps. Decided I was in Brussels. Which was 506km away.

If I will insert to iPhone me Czech SIM, that Iphone wil not working with this, because in iPhone is old FW 1.1.2. What can I make ? Connect to iTunes 7,6 and make update to 1.1.3 first ? And after make unlocking ? Or iTunes unlocked this automatically - after update to 1.1.3 or before update ? I bought an unlocked Orange Nokia 6500 Slide without knowing about the Firmware. It is completely hideous. I'd like to have the standard Nokia Frimware.
Could anyone help me with this?

If you get written consent from the operator in question, a Nokia service point may be able to flash the phone with the standard Nokia software. Note, however, that they aren't required to do this by Nokia and so may not do.
Any other method that may exist would invalidate the warranty - we are not allowed to discuss that sort of thing here.

i bought an iphone 4 more than two years ago from t-mobile austria an asked for an unlock one week ago, now ive got an message that it has been submitted to apple an i have to connect my device to itunes with another sim card.
After i had done this, a grey screen on my phone apperad and tol me it has been unlocked, orange austria sim card can now be used, ut itunes told me that my activation has been failed.
so i have an unlocked device buck im not able to manage my device because in itunes i have a white screen with an apple logo and a litte lock symbol in the middle of the screen.
on the sidebar the iphone appears but no archive overview i means music, video, purchased music, etc.
what did i wrong

Solved the problem, hat to restore a second time, 3 times to delete settings after, because my iphone never asked my which icloud backup to use. I recogniced my misstake and unpöugged it from itunes and restored installed with icloud backup.
It only took 3hrs to get everything back to phone, only because of an simple provider unlock.

Find your carrier when there is no "Carrier" option in settings

Okay, so today my friend had my iPhone and when I got it back off him, there was a "No SIM" message. Apparently, he went onto the Carrier option and switched it to O2 when I am on an unlocked Orange card. The Carrier option has now disappeared and I am stuck looking for the O2 carrier, and my Orange SIM is not picked up. Any way to fix this ?

N95 No Software update available

I have an N95 RM-159 with firmware version 11.0.026. Upon running the software updater, I get a message that there are no updates available.
The text messaging on the phone does not work. When I got to the "log" I get a system error message. I hoped that a new firmware flash, or at least re-applying the old one would solve my problem.
Note phone is an unlocked Orange N95.

The nokia software updater doesn't allow you to update because your phone has orange firmware (even though it's unlocked it still has orange's firmware on it). Most networks (including orange) don't bother approving new updates leaving thier customers stuck with old firmware.
A nokia care point/service centre may be able to update it for you.

Be aware Orange will process the request at their speed

I have requested the neccessary details from Orange. And paid for it.
I have followed the instructions but the phone will NOT activate either by phone itself or iTunes.

Did you follow the steps exactly in the email you got from Orange
to unlock the iPhone? At the end of those steps, did iTunes give you
the message 'Congratulations. Your iPhone is now unlocked''?
If you did not get that message, your iPhone is still locked and only
Orange can resolve the matter.
If you did get that message before the update, repeat all the steps again
to see if it will unlock now - you may have to do this multiple times for
it to work.
What does it say when you look at Settings=?General=>About=>Carrier?

Hi, I have recently purchased an iPad 2 and only just found out after trying to use a Giffgaff sim card that it is locked to the Orange network in the UK. I don't want to be paying any extra over and above what I have already paid so my question is, is there any way to get the iPad carrier unlocked via apple or orange. Some iPads which were subsidized by the carriers are locked to the carrier, and in that case only the carrier can authorize an unlock. You'll need to talk to Orange, and pay their fee if necessary. They may well only unlock for the original purchaser, in which case you'll need to contact the person from whom you purchased the iPad. Apple can do nothing directly in the matter, since they can only issue the unlock when the carrier provides authorization.

How do you unlock an iphone 4 on Orange/EE UK? they said they have unlocked it but what do I do from there?

Here are the instructions they gave me:
1)Insert a non-Orange 3G SIM card. This must be a network provider who also supplies the iphone/ipad.
2)Switch ON the handset.
3)Connect to iTunes using USB cable
4)Use the “restore” option within iTunes (located at the bottom of iTunes not the top)
5)The handset may then display: USB cable and iTunes icon.
6)Disconnect from USB then re-connect
7)Synchronise device with iTunes
8)Once synchronised a message will appear on iTunes stating “Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked” If using IOS5 this message will not show
9)Follow on screen set up instructions to enable new carrier settings

At a loss as to what to do next so hoping one of you lovely lot can help- here goes : On 16th Dec I phoned Orange UK to request an unlock code for an iphone 4. After a lengthy & very irritating call I was told it would take 20 working days & cost me £20.42....17th January I phoned Orange again as still no code- was put on hold....call abandoned after 17 minutes of waiting - phoned back, spoke to Peter who apologised & said request had been escalated & would take 72 hours max. I rang again this morning- still no code..spoke to Jessie- very helpful at the time- told me request had been escalated to Manager who would call me back this morning... Any ideas what to do next ? Am sick of phoning, being put on hold, being fed a load of ********, listening to One Direction whilst on hold, promising my son I'll sort it ......EXPLETIVES GALORE !!!!!!

You will have to contact orange to get your phone unlock. ONly the carrier that the phone is locked to can unlock the phone.
