  • Requesting UEFI GOP VBIOS for MSI Radeon HD 7850 Twin Frozr III 2GB GDDR5 OC

I've got two of these cards.
    Serial Numbers:
    602-V273-050B1212086274
    602-V273-050B1212085579
Also, what is the easiest way to flash my cards?  It looks like atiflash can only be used from a DOS boot disk, and I don't know where I can get DOS boot files.  Is there an easier way to do it?  Perhaps from within Windows?  I flashed my nvidia card from within Windows without any trouble.
    Thanks much!

V273 050 uefi can be found here:

Then you first need to fix the issue before considering to flash it. Follow >>Posting Guide<<. did you update your vbios before?

  • MSI Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr V2/OC BIOS update

Have there been any BIOS updates compatible with my card? Perhaps adding Boost or (more importantly) Windows 8 UEFI features, or bug fixes? My BIOS is dated 2012-05-24, and I very much suspect there have been updates with Win8 features since that date. My card is the MSI Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr V2/OC, which I believe is the second revision of the MSI Twin Frozr HD 7950 line, before the Boost editions. It is, I believe, the only model in the line which used an HD 7970 pcb instead of an HD 7950 pcb. I would appreciate the latest BIOS, and if it wouldn't be too much trouble, a changelog?
My BIOS, which I have captured using GPU-Z, can be found here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/jeq0pt
    S/N: 602-V277-05SB1205142483
Also, if I do choose to flash, which position should my dual BIOS switch be set to?
    Thanks very much.
Edit: Wow, got my serial number completely wrong the first time.

I have a UEFI GOP (Windows 8 Feature) vbios for you (attached):
Decompress the attached .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (200.rar) and put the included file (TV277MH.200) on that stick.
Rename TV277MH.200 to 200.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive provided on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 200.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

  • MSI nVidia GTX 560ti Twin frozr III loss of output

    Hi folks,
I recently needed my monitor to test another rig and upon plugging it back in I discovered my MSI nVidia GTX 560ti Twin frozr III no longer has video output, I have tried different outputs, different cables, different displays and different motherboard slots to no avail. Had a search around and couldn't find any other instances of this. The card is 2 years old now but has always functioned perfectly (apart from the well publicised memory temperature problem). Any ideas what might be causing this issue?
    Regards,
    hotrats
    Specs:
    Windows 7 PRO SP1 64bit
AMD FX-8350 8 Core Black Edition Processor 4.57gHz OC
    ASUS M5A99X EVO Motherboard R2
MSI nVidia GTX 560ti Twin frozr III
    Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3
    Thermatake 750W Evo_blue 2.0
I'm assuming drives and case aren't the issue so not listing them.

The card is 2 years old, but how long wasn't it used for and did you ever had any problems with it?
First of all, I would reset CMOS >>Clear CMOS Guide<< so all the OC is removed (write down settings of CPU OC if you want to use it later on).
Then (I don't know Asus boards) would look through the BIOS if it recognises the card. Possible you should get rid of the possible dust in PCIe slot?
Also: while card is plugged in, run computer and: try all the video ports, even those on motherboard (maybe board doesn't recognise the card and wants to run integrated gpu if there is any).
Last but not least: ask a friend/colleague if you can test your card in their computer. Best if it would be different brand of motherboard, and power supply. Possibly power supply is screwed up somewhere (broken connection)and doesn't deliver enough power to give output.
Does the card start up when you run the PC (fans of the card)?

  • Information about the Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr III

Hi, I want to change my R5770 to a Radeon HD 7950. I came across a lot of review and found the Twin Frozr III model from MSI really interesting. But, it seems that I can't buy it as no store as them.
Does anyone know when they'll be available (in US / Canada)? I'm looking forward to buy one as the cooler seems to be a great quality one.
    Thank for your time!

My advice is wait till you see them at newegg. Nobody here can tell you when they will be available as nobody here has that kind of information. We don' have anything at all to do with MSI marketing.

  • UEFI GOP Booting Problem - MSI Radeon HD 7850 Twin Frozr

I have two 7850s in Crossfire.  I flashed both my cards' VBIOS using atiflash and the VBIOS I obtained here, and it worked, but after I disabled CSM, I got a blank black screen.  Power cycling my PSU fixed the problem.  I can reboot just fine, and my cards work in games and whatnot, so I don't think my VBIOS is corrupt, but if I turn off my machine and leave it off for a while, I need to power cycle my PSU before turning it back on, or I get the blank black screen again.  This is with CSM disabled.  If I re-enable CSM, I have no issues whatsoever.
Could this be an issue because I have two card in crossfire?  Or is there a new version my VBIOS available?
    Any help is appreciated.
Edited to add: This is the thread where I asked for a UEFI GOP VBIOS, for reference:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=168533.msg1232982#msg1232982

UEFI GOP booting (with CSM disabled) works with only one video card installed.  Either card works alone, but when I install both, I need to enable CSM to be able to boot reliably.
This must be a limitation of my motherboard.  Both video cards work fine otherwise, even in Crossfire.

  • Can MSI Radeon 7850 twin frozr III be used on MCP73M01H1 (Napa) ?

    Hi guys,
I just bought new graphic card (msi radeon hd 7850 twin frozr 2gb) and seasonic 650W power supply today.
And when I put them together with other hardwares and turn on the power, the monitor doesn't not detect any signal (dvi).
so I switched the dvi cable to the on-board graphic card then the monitor can display but the device manager only detects ob board graphic card.
then I put back gt 130 and it works perfectly as before.
then I tried putting 7850 back then same issue (monitor doesn't detect anything)
I can see the fans are running on 7850. My friend tested it with his computer and it's working fine...
    Help pls?
    My current specs are :
    Monitor: HP 2309m (1920x1080)
    Motherboard: MCP73M01H1 (Napa)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66 GHz
    Memory: 4 GB PC2-6400
Graphic card: msi radeon 7850 twin frozr III oc 2gb (previous one: GT 130 768MB)
PSU: seasonic 650W (previous one: 350W)

Yea. I've posted on their forum as well. But I was hoping the graphic card manufacturer will have info about the list of motherboards that support Radeon 7850 ??

  • New to AMD - MSI HD 7970 Twin FrozR OC BE Temps

    Card in question - http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7970-TF-3GD5-OC-BE.html#/?div=Specification
For the last few years I have a series of Nvidia cards and my last card, GTX570 SOC Windforce, which was pretty heavily overclocked would sit around about 80 degrees under load.
Today my MSI HD 7970 Twin FrozR OC BE arrived and all I've done so far is to install the latest CCC/drivers and try Heaven/Valley and play some Payday 2. In the benchmarks and in PD2 the card will hit 97 degrees which to an AMD novice like me concerned me a little.
I was advised to install MSI Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 15 and try running Valley once more. I'd guess the ambient temp in the room is about 25 degrees and the card started at an idle temp of 40 degrees. Here's the results -
Obviously it's not as high as 97 degrees but I'm not sure if that's because the newer version of Afterburner is more accurate and/or it's simply down to the relatively high fan speed (which was quite audible).
So I guess what I'm asking is -
A, Nothing to worry about, just enjoy the card
B, I've made an obvious error somewhere
C, The cards faulty and needs to be RMA'd.
Finally is that voltage correct? Should it be that high?

If I change the voltage to 1180mV load temps are a more respectable 72% but the fans spin up to 77% or about 3600rpm which seems excessive.
This review - http://www.overclockers.com/msi-hd-7970-tfiii-oc-boost-edition-review - which incidentally also shows a vcore of 1256mV states the following -
"With the fan control set to auto, the highest temperatures we saw was 71 °C. The fan hit around 45% to do it and was pretty silent"
The only way I can get close to this is to "undervolt" the card as you suggested and my fans are a good 30% faster than they experienced. For what it's worth I'm using a Corsair 600T SE with a 200mm Bitfenix Spectre Pro front intake, a 120mm Corsair exhaust and a Corsair H100 in the roof with 2 * 120mm exhaust fans. All fully cable managed. As a result I don't think poor airflow or a poor case can be attributed to the poor results I'm seeing so far.

Got a new card today, same card but new.
No problems now, seem the new card has newer bios and lower  core voltage. Maybe that is a way to fix it, just upgrade bios.
