Unmount failed for device

I want to erase my internal HD to perform a clean Lion install but i get the message that the drive cannot be unmounted? Why not.
I've booted from an external HD with a SuperDuper back up.

Got it: just a simple restart of the system on the external took away the 'can't unmount' message about the internal HD.

  • ISE Alarm (WARNING): Dynamic Authorization Failed for Device

    Hi all,
    I am posting this discussion as previous posts that I have found in this forum have never been resolved or the resolution is not applicable to me.
    I am using ISE 1.1.1.268 and WLC 7.2.111.3 and NAC agent version 4.9.1.6 on Windows 7 Client machines.
    About once a day i get the error "ISE Alarm (WARNING): Dynamic Authorization Failed for Device".
    The device it is reffering to is my NAD, a WLC 5508 running 7.2.111.3
    I have looked at the logs and I cannot see anything in the logs which correcponds to this message so that I can troubleshoot further. Maybe I can if I am enabling the correct logging level on the correct ISE component.
    Can someone suggest the components and the logging level that I should set to get some more detail about this error?
    At the moment, I have only set debug logging on Active Directory. I have TRACE logging set on Posture, Runtime AAA & prrt-JNI.
    I do not want to enable too much debug logs, so I was wondering whether anyone can help with a specific element that I should be debugging.
    I thought debugging the posture element would be enough but when I look at the logs there is nothing there that relates to this message.
    Can anyone help?
    thanks
    Mario

    Firstly, I wouldn't run a production deployment of ISE on 1.1.1.... 1.1.3 Patch 1 or 1.1.4 is the way to go.
    Secondly, this error happen a lot, especially with Wireless, and it's not worth worrying about.  I've had a couple of TAC cases opened for this and some similar errors, generally they're caused by a Client going to sleep, leaving the coverage area or otherwise leaving the WLC while ISE is trying to do something with it.
    Only worry if you actually have a Client-impacting problem, which by the sounds of it, you don't.

    RME reported 30 devices failed config archive but this devices are already removed from DCR but RME keep reporting this devices. how I can clean up thiese devices from RME?
    Thanks

    You can contact TAC, and they can give you the procedure to surgically remove these device records from the RME database.

  • WES 7 OSD standalone (works) vs bootable (fails) - Failed to find suitable device driver for device (help)

    Hi everyone,
    I'm trying to deploy a Windows Embedded Standard 7 (trial key at the moment) image in SCCM 2012 SP1 with a very simple task sequence.
    I have a 'build and capture' and an OSD TS. I'm testing these on Hyper-V PCs and both work fine when i create stand alone media. The problem arrises when I try to deploy (or build & capture) with a bootable media;
    The TS starts, formats the disk, applies the OS, Windows and network settings, Apply Device Drivers etc., but when it reboots into Windows
    (or WES7 to be exact) it cant boot. The Windows Boot Manager reports a 0xc0000359 for storvsc.sys
    And I can't figure out what's wrong. I will post the SMSTS log further down below. The SAME TS works fine when it's a stand alone media.
    I have tried to:
    - Apply the WIM manually (nothing wrong - boots fine)
    - Create and apply driver package for the Hyper-V machines (from the MSI's Windows5.x-HyperVIntegrationServices-x86 and Windows5.x-HyperVIntegrationServices-x64)
    - No dice
    - Create a new boot image with the hyper-v drivers in it. No dice
    - Google everything related I can think of.
    I suspect it has something to do with the lines where it says:
    "Failed to find a suitable device driver for device xxx”
    It also has a couple of 401 errors when trying to get the packages, but it seems like it DOES end up getting the content.
    Please help! What could it be?
    I have 2 Hyper-V machines; one w. legacy network adapter - one not. Both have same issue.

    I'm using Live Upgrade to install Solaris 10 8/07 on a V490 currently running Solaris 9 4/04. Sol9 is using SVM to mirror two internal drives with file systems for /, /var and swap. I used format and formatted two new slices for / and /var. LU has been removed and the liveupgrade20 script used to install LU from the Solaris 10 CD. I believe the next step is to lucreate the BE, but the lucreate is failing:

    lucreate -A 'dualboot' -m /:/dev/md/dsk/d40:ufs,mirror -m /:/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s4,/dev/md/dsk/d41:attach -m /:/dev/dsk/c1t1d0s4,/dev/md/dsk/d42:attach -m /var:/dev/md/dsk/d50:ufs,mirror -m /var:/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s5,/dev/md/dsk/d51:attach -m /var:/dev/dsk/c1t1d0s5,/dev/md/dsk/d52:attach -n sol10
    (Note: Using the short names (d41, d42 etc) worked with Solaris 10 6/06, but fails with 8/07.)

  • RME 4.3.1 device update failing 'WARNING : Cat3560(7.3):Consistency check failed for base package SharedNetshowIOS'

    Hi Guys,
    I'm having some issues updating the device packages for my RME 4.3.1 install.
    I've downloaded and tried to update the 'Cat3560.zip' package via the GUI, but the job fails with the above error.
    I pulled up the PSU.log and found the following:

    How do I solve this?

    Hello,
    Problem is indeed because of upstart/init incompatibility. Here is the working way:
    1) Proceed with the installation as usual until root.sh invocation.
    2) Before root.sh edit $GRID_HOME/crs/install/s_crsconfig_lib.pm, go to line 1173 (you should find a code like: if ($srv eq "ohasd") { # Start OHASD).
    3) Insert a following snippet before starting OHASD part (line 1173)
    my $UPSTART_OHASD_SERVICE = "oracle-ohasd";
    my $INITCTL = "/sbin/initctl";
    ($status, @output) = system_cmd_capture ("$INITCTL start $UPSTART_OHASD_SERVICE");
    if (0 != $status)
    error ("Failed to start $UPSTART_OHASD_SERVICE, error: $!");
    return $FAILED;
    4) Create a file /etc/init/oracle-ohasd.conf with the following content inside
    # Oracle OHASD startup
    start on runlevel [35]
    stop on runlevel [!35]
    respawn
    exec /etc/init.d/init.ohasd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
    5) Invoke root.sh
    6) Finish the installation.
    If you previously ran root.sh (not successfully), simply roll it back:
    $GRID_HOME/crs/install/roothas.pl -deconfig -force -verbose
    Make changes above and continue.
    good luck
    Anand

    Hi,
    Ran into this myself and then found your note. After much investigating it turns out that the Linux run level on my AMI's is set to 4 (even though the inittab has it set to 3) and the CRS init script init.ohasd expects 3 and 5. Because of that problem, the "init" process was not able to launch the init.ohasd script.
    For now the workaound for this problem is to run the system at run levels 3 or 5 before executing the root script. However, I am still trying to figure out why my AMI's are running at 4.
    I am curious, if you do read this, did you get this error during the install and ignore it?
    Run Level
    This is a prerequisite condition to test whether the system is running with proper run level. (more details)
    Expected Value
    : 3,5
    Actual Value
    : 4
    I did and of course it didn't work. Also, what Amazon AMI did you use?
    Thanks,
    Larry

  • DNS Fails for NFS Server Shares

    When I boot, I get a message that DNS has failed for the NFS server mounts, and the shares do not mount. The message says, "mount.nfs: DNS resolution failed for server: name or service unknown." I have to mount the shares myself. Then when rebooting, I get the same error saying it can't unmount the shares.
    this is /etc/resolv.conf:
    $ cat /etc/resolv.conf
    # Generated by dhcpcd from eth0
    # /etc/resolv.conf.head can replace this line
    nameserver 208.67.222.222
    nameserver 208.67.220.220
    # /etc/resolv.conf.tail can replace this line
    this is /etc/conf.d/nfs:
    # Number of servers to be started up by default
    NFSD_OPTS=8
    # Options to pass to rpc.mountd
    # e.g. MOUNTDOPTS="-p 32767"
    MOUNTD_OPTS="--no-nfs-version 1 --no-nfs-version 2"
    # Options to pass to rpc.statd
    # N.B. statd normally runs on both client and server, and run-time
    # options should be specified accordingly. Specifically, the Arch
    # NFS init scripts require the --no-notify flag on the server,
    # but not on the client e.g.
    # STATD_OPTS="--no-notify -p 32765 -o 32766" -> server
    # STATD_OPTS="-p 32765 -o 32766" -> client
    STATD_OPTS=""
    # Options to pass to sm-notify
    # e.g. SMNOTIFY_OPTS="-p 32764"
    SMNOTIFY_OPTS=""
    Do I need to add some option to rpc.statd, or is there some other misconfiguration there? AFAIK it is the default. What else should I look at to fix this? I can ping the server by name, and log in with ssh by name, just fine. It's only the nfs that is failing with DNS.

    airman99 wrote:
    Yahoo! Good news, I've finally solved the problem on my laptop. The message I was receiving turned out merely to be a network timing issue.
    The error I was receiving was exactly correct and informative. When /etc/rc.d/netfs ran and executed a 'mount -a -t nfs...' the network was indeed NOT reachable. I am running networkmanager, and apparently during bootup, networkmanager gets loaded, but there is a delay between when networkmanager is loaded and when the network is available. In other words, networkmanager allows the boot process to continue before the network is available.
    My daemons are loaded in this order (rc.conf):
    DAEMONS=(syslog-ng hal dhcdbd networkmanager crond cups ntpdate ntpd portmap nfslock netfs)
    Consequently, if I add a delay to /etc/rc.d/netfs to allow time for the network to come up, then when the NFS shares are mounted, the network is up. In my case I had to add a 3 second delay.
    sleep 3
    I'm sure this isn't the best way to solve the problem, by editing the system file /etc/rc.d/netfs, because the next upgrade where changes occur to netfs, my fix will get overwritten. But I'll keep it until I figure out the "right" fix.
    The real solution is to not load networkmanager in the background, but to force startup to wait for the networok to be up before continuing.
    there is the _netdev option you can use in fstab, but that doesn't always work:
    http://linux.die.net/man/8/mount
    _netdev
        The filesystem resides on a device that requires network access (used to prevent the system from attempting to mount these filesystems until the network has been enabled on the system).
    Alternatively, you could just add a cronjob to do a mount -a with a sleep 20 in there or something. You might have to play with the sleep value a little to make sure it's long enough

  • Timed out waiting for device sys-subsystem-net-devices-enp69s0.device

    Hi all,
    Since quite some time I have been waiting for Arch Linux to startup (and shutdown), and today I wanted to figure out what was going wrong. I found out that I could find the boot log file with journalctl, and this seems to be the issue:
    Oct 13 21:01:52 localhost systemd[1]: Job sys-subsystem-net-devices-enp69s0.device/start timed out.
    Oct 13 21:01:52 localhost systemd[1]: Timed out waiting for device sys-subsystem-net-devices-enp69s0.device.
    Oct 13 21:01:52 localhost systemd[1]: Dependency failed for dhcpcd on enp69s0.
    Oct 13 21:01:52 localhost systemd[1]: Starting Network.
    Oct 13 21:01:52 localhost systemd[1]: Reached target Network.
    Oct 13 21:01:52 localhost systemd[1]: Mounting /mnt/homesrv/storage...
    Now, enp69s0 is my LAN network interface, which I barely use, and my WLAN connection is handled by NetworkManager. However, I can't find out what I'm supposed to do to stop this behaviour. I tried:
    systemctl disable sys-subsystem-net-devices-enp69s0.device
    But that does not seem to solve anything. Can anyone help me out?

    Andreaskem wrote:Maybe try "systemctl disable [email protected]".
    That did the trick! I didn't want to disable the device because I might use it once in a while.
    The shutdown issue is not solved yet, but that seems to be an issue with a samba share that is unmounted after the network services are shutdown. I'll delve in the wiki to figure out how to fix that. But for now, I can at least start my machine up within seconds. Thanks a lot!

  • [SOLVED] dmraid "Timed out waiting for device" at boot

    Created a bug report with solution proposal: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/33166
    I created a virtual machine to demonstrate the problem
    https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B40Hp1 … WZUQ21xZk0
    The root and the other mount points are all on one raid disk. Although the root mounts quickly, other mount points cause timeouts at boot time.
    dmraid prints that all /dev/mapper/isw_* devices are created.
    I think /dev/disk/by-uuid/* links are created too, but for some reason systemd doesn't see them.
    After boot I can execute "mount -a" without errors.
    here's my fstab:

    I've ran into exactly same problem lately, but finally solved it.
    Setup: Intel Fake RAID, mirror, partitioned as:
    /dev/mapper/isw_dfjeffgfaj_rootvol1 /boot
    /dev/mapper/isw_dfjeffgfaj_rootvol2 /
    /dev/mapper/isw_dfjeffgfaj_rootvol3 /home (dm-crypted)
    In /etc/fstab i had following mountpoints:
    # file /etc/fstab
    /dev/mapper/isw_dfjeffgfaj_rootvolp2 / ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 1
    /dev/mapper/isw_dfjeffgfaj_rootvolp1 /boot ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 2
    and boot hung on waiting for /dev/mapper/isw_dfjeffgfaj_rootvolp1. Solution involves changing dev path to UUID:
    # file /etc/fstab
    /dev/mapper/isw_dfjeffgfaj_rootvolp2 / ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 1
    UUID=44809529-11d9-4f53-9652-7b97ed077225 /boot ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 2
    For some reason symlinks /dev/mapper/isw* are not present during systemd mount.
