Unopen to launch Dreamweaver (CS4) - error 0xc0150004

Hi,
I have a brand new computer and new Dreamweaver CDROM and it installs fine but when I click to load it it says:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150004). Click OK to terminate this application."
My computer is from Dell, I'm running Vista, it has a 2.8 GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive.
I've tried restarting the computer with all the services deactivated.
I've installed IIS.
I've copied the program from the CD onto the computer and then tried installing in Safe Mode but it wouldn't run*.
(*although in the process of copying the files over two files came up with the following error message:
Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.)
What do you suggest?
Many thanks,
Matthew Cousins
PS: If anyone needs any further information from me just ask.

Many thanks to the above poster for providing that link to another forum thread. I should have seen that thread at the time as it was only about a week before mine.
I'd already spent ages trying to sort this problem and after having no luck I went back to using Dreamweaver 8. I eventually found the time to have another go the other day and all I had to do was delete a registry key!

This is a user-to-user forum, so you might strike lucky and
    find someone

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Errors, Spry widget not working. Please Help!

I am redesigning a website and downloaded an html file from the present contact page. I opened it in Dreamweaver and I started to have this errors. The html file I opened has some JavaScripts in it and I believe, the the scripts got a conflict with Dreamweaver CS4. I already deleted these files I tried to open and still I'm encountering these errors.
These are the errors I'm getting:
    1. When I open the Dreamweaver, this message pop-ups:
"While executing onLoad in RecordsetFind.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
        In file "RecordsetFind"
        findRs is not defined."
    2. I click OK. Then I'm getting this message:
"While executing onLoad in Design Notes_onOpen.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
        In file "Design Notes_onOpen"
        onOpen is not defined."
    3. I just click OK. Then, when I open an html file to edit or create a new one, this error pops up again:
"While executing onLoad in Design Notes_onOpen.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
        In file "Design Notes_onOpen"
        onOpen is not defined."
    4. I will again just click OK, then this error appears:
"The following translators were not loaded due to errors:
Coldfusion.htm: has configuration information that is invalid.
SpryWidget.htm: has configuration information that is invalid."
    5. Then, I will just click OK again. Then, when I'm working with the projects or creating a new project with Spry, it is not working properly anymore. I have to go the code and update the Spry list or content manually.
    6. When I close Dreamweaver, I'm always having this error:
"While executing onLoad in TeamAdminTempDelete.html, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
        In file "TeamAdminTempDelete"
        delTempFile is not defined"
I tried uninstalling the Dreamweaver and installing it again, but it did not work.
What should I do to make the spry working again and to remove all these annoying errors? By the way, all my Spry widgets are not working and these errors I'm encountering in all of the Sites I'm working on. How can I make it work again? I tried looking for troubleshoot in CS4, but I could not see one, only in CS3.
    Please help.

  • Exporting InDesign CS4 to Dreamweaver CS4 error

I'm trying to export an InDesign CS4 file to Dreamweaver CS4 and I keep getting the same error: Exporting as XHTML failed. Couldn't create file. There might not be sufficient space available, or you may not have permission to create files in this location.
I have plenty of space available and I do have permission in this location (my hard drive).
Please let me know if anyone has encountered this error, and if you know of a solution. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. All of my links are updated as well as all of my fonts are in place. Just tried it and got the same error!
    Any other suggestions?

  • Menus.xml issue when trying to launch Dreamweaver CS4

I have used Dreamweaver CS4 for many years on my Mac. I had a drive failure and have had to reload all of my applications from scratch as there seemed to be an issue with the Time Machine back up. Everything is working well apart from Dreamweaver CS4 which brings up an error message telling me to delete my menus.xml file and rename menus.bak to menus.xml which just doesn't work.
I have checked and this has been asked before but none of the previous answers that I could find will work for me. Any new ideas?

One issue appears to be that Dreamweaver has loaded the help and configurations files into a folder in applications rather than in application support. I do not have a Dreamweaver CS4 folder anywhere in applications support under my identity or than of the loacl admin.
You need to turn on your hidden folders to see it.

  • Launch Dreamweaver CS4 and open a specific site

One of my stumbling blocks in moving from GoLive 9 to Dreamweaver CS4 is finding a way to have Dreamweaver open a specific site at launch time.  GoLive has a "name.site" file that contains site-specific information.  Double-clicking that GoLive site file launches GoLive (or switches to the running application) and makes that site the current/frontmost site.
With Dreamweaver, I can double-click a page in a site and launch Dreamweaver.  However, Dreamweaver's active site is the one that was active at the end of the last Dreamweaver session.
Is there a way to launch Dreamweaver and have it automatically open a specific site?
    -- Barney

Say, if they do something like that for the already existing .ste files, then it might just encourage some people to export/backup their site definitions. Although I would probably never think to doubleclick one of them, that is still a good idea.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate, Dreamweaver CS4, error message 148:3

Dreamweaver starts but as soon as it does it exits and my desktop is the only thing on the screen.  My Dreamweaver ran fine  before I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from Windows Vista Ultimate.

The first thing to try is Deleting Corrupted Cache in DW
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
If that doesn't help, try Restore Preferences
    http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver-cs4-cs5.html
If all else fails, use the CC Cleaner Tools below followed by a software re-install.

  • Can't install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  Setup error

I can't install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  I get a vague error that says Setup error, sontact Adobe Customer Support. Adobe Customer Support refuses to help me.  That really upsets me.

First of all I would like to thank the people that responded to my post.  I am extreemly impressed with your eagerness to help and your concern for my problem.  Thank you very much! I appreciate it.
I did not see a way to get a transcript of my chat.  I should have printed it at the conclusion of my chat. Overall though, I think my concerns are with Windows itself and also how Adobe as a company handles a call from someone who gets an installation error that says "call Adobe Customer Support". I purchased this program to run on Windows 7 and I am installing it on a Windows 7 computer. I feel that if Adobe is going to give a vague error message and tell you to contact them, they should give me more assistance than "your product is too old, good luck on the forums". I could see if I am calling and asking them how to do something, maybe my product is too old for that, but I think their responce was unacceptable.  I hope enough other people complain so that Adobe changes this policy.
Wow, this has taken an enormous amount of time to deal with. I imagine this is mainly a Windows file permissions issue, but I think Adobe needs to take some ownership for a client having to spend many HOURS trying to install their program on the original OS they purchased the program for.
I definitely do not like the way the Adobe Dreamweaver installer deals with errors. Here are the facts as I know them.
When the installer would fail on install, the subsequesnt install would fail, but it would give a VERY cryptic error stating that the install failed and I need to contact Adobe customer service.
In order to re-install I had to un-install.  Naturally my un-installs failed every time, too. After lots of trial and error and checking the forumns, I found   the program install folders under c:\programs. I deleted them, re-booted, unistalled again with no errors.  Then I could re-install without the vague "contact Adobe customer support" error.  Note that I had to re-install several times to get to the bottom of the installation problem so this took a long time to figure out.
In the end, I had to manually delete files from C:\Windows\Installer in order to get Dreamweaver to install.  This took a long time to figure out, too.  It still installed with errors, but it said Dreamweaver would work with limited functionality. So far this is good enough for me and I am tired of spending non-billable time on this.
Following is one of the main erros I got during the first failed install.  IF ANYONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHY MY INSTALL WAS FAILING I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.  IT SEEMS LIKE IT DID NOT HAVE PERMISSION FROM THE OPERATING SYSTEM TO ACCESS THOSE FILES, BUT THAT SHOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE AS THE PROGRAM IS INSTALLED AS ADMINISTRATOR. Any thoughts???
    Thanks again everyone who helped!

  • Dreamweaver CS4 serial number invalidated after 8 months of use

In January 2nd 2014, I purchased an OEM version of Dreamweaver CS4 for Windows from a reseller called "Smart Shop" which looked like a serious outfit [emails from Jet Support were received with a link to "Access your order and customer support http://appscustomerscare.com"]. A serial number was obtained. I downloaded the program from their site  and installed it without any problem: When I launched the application, the serial number was inserted and the Adobe server validated it: the application worked seamlessly for more than 8 months.
Yesterday, when I launched Dreamweaver CS4, a dialog box showed up stating the the serial number used was invalid! I used the serial number that I had been given to activate Dreamweaver but the form showed a red X at the end of the serial number meaning the the serial number was invalid.
[personal information removed... Mod - https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3731]
[This is an open forum, not Adobe support, please do not post personal information]
Now, I'm back to the trial version (available for 29 more days)!
Is there a licensing problem link with buying an OEM version of Dreamweaver from resellers?
Why was the serial number considered valid on first run and all successive runs and then invalidated after 8 months?
How can I be sure that my next "bona fide" purchase of Dreamweaver won't run into the same problem?
Is there a way to recognize good from bad resellers?

  • My Dreamweaver CS4 won't open on my iMac

Well every time I launch Dreamweaver CS4 it crashes. Please
help me and i also reinstalled and updated all software.

    A few things to try:
step 4 in the following technote:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19105.
If that doesn't work, try deleting your personal configuration folder. It's in the same location.
    On Vista, it's located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration.
It's a hidden folder, so you need to enable hidden folders in Windows Explorer.
Rename the folder to Configuration_old and launch Dreamweaver.
It should create a new Configuration folder with the factory defaults.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Mac - Welcome Screen Is Blank Under Network Account

This is a new installation of Dreamweaver CS4 on a computer running Mac OS X 10.5.7 in a computer lab environment.  All updates have been applied.  Users' home folders are hosted via AFP on a server running Mac OS X Server 10.5.7.  The "welcome screen" window that appears after launching Dreamweaver CS4 is blank for users using network accounts (both admin and non-admin).  The welcome screen appears correctly when launched from within a local accounts (admin or non-admin).  The welcome screen window can be closed and then the application appears to run just fine.  Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a solution?

Some clues: Apparently, the "welcome screen" is an .swf file located in each user's home directory here:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4/en_US/Configuration/Content/Welcome/Flash/welcome.swf
I can open this file in Flash or Flash Player under a network account and it looks just fine, yet it won't load when Dreamweaver CS4 is launched, resulting in a blank, white "welcome screen."
For now, I've decided to push a default preferences file to new users that turns off the welcome screen, but I'd prefer to find a fix. Anyone have any clues?

I am using Vista so file locations are different. Still, I cannot find any preferences folder or configuration folder that I can rename to recreate. There is no "CreamWeaver" folder in the user profile - even in the hidden parts.
    Anyone have any other ideas?
Rename the folder to Configuration_old and launch Dreamweaver.  It should create a new Configuration folder with the factory defaults.
    On Vista, it's located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration.
It's a hidden folder, so you need to enable hidden folders in Windows Explorer.

If that doesn't work Try #12 -  deleting your personal configuration folder.
