Unopenable Attachments with imap (groupwise server)

I get my mail from an imap host. If I am on a slowish line and I have large attachments
coming in, then after (what seems an eternity) negotiating with the server while say > 20
items are loaded into my inbox, some of the messages will have the attachment and
those attachments can't be opened (even if saved elsewhere).
If I go to the server via a web page, I can see the mail message and manually download
the attachment using the web interface, so I know they are okay.
Once I managed to "fix" it by moving the message to another folder on the imap server
then accessing the message again via this folder back in Mail. The same thing happened
in Tiger. I can't be the only one with this problem. It happens when Mail seems to be doing
lots of things (as shown in the activity window).

We are having similar issues. We have a single imap account (with about 15-20k emails active) that is being shared between 4 computers. The synching and updating between them is extremely slow and clunky.
Do we need to archive old messages? Is there a way to do this that all computers have access to the archive? What is the best method to deal with this?
Is the number of messages even the problem?
Thank you

  • No Attachments with IMAP Client

We are having an intermittent issue where we cannot see attachments using an IMAP client. I thought this might've been a NotifyLink issue, but we still have the problem when using Thunderbird via IMAP. I saw some other threads about missing attachments with IMAP, but I did not see any addressing GW8.0.2, which we have across the board. Any ideas on how to correct? If I missed a thread that addresses this, please point me to it.

  • Attachments with KPRO / Content Server

    Hello,
I am trying to store Shopping Cart's attachment in KPro using Archive Link on SRM 5.0 and ECC 6.0.
    Here find what I did:
    1. I created my Content Repository ZA (CSADMIN & OAC0) - All is green
    2. I created a new Global Document ZBBPATT in TCODE OAC2.
    3. I created the link between my document, the object type and the content repository as follow: ZBUS2121 | ZBBPATT | X | ZA | TOA03
But when I created a SC my attachment is store somewhere but not in CS.
What's wrong ? Did I miss something? - it seams yes
Next step is to transfer the SC in ECC.
    Thanks
    Regards

    Configuring Attachment Transfer
      Prerequisites
If you wish to store shopping cart attachments in the backend system, you must first activate the data transfer by creating an active method in the BAdIs BBP_CREATE_BE_PO_NEW (for purchase orders) or BBP_CREATE_BE_RQ_NEW (for purchase requisitions).
For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Supplier Relationship Management: SRM Server ®Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) ® Follow-On Document Generation in the Backend-System ® Purchase Order in Backend System.
Or choose SRM Server ® Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) ® Follow-On Document Generation in the Backend-System ® Purchase Requisition in Backend-System.
    Procedure
You have to configure the R/3 Document Management System (DMS) in transaction DC10:
           1.      Create document type SRM. Note that no flag is set in any of the columns.
           2.      Double-click in the detail view to define the new Doc. type desc. = SRM Documents. Set the Use KPro indicator.
¡        Enter 1 in the Number assignment field.
¡        Enter an internal number range interval. You can use an existing interval or create a new one in transaction CV90. The internal number range must be used, because the GUID of the SRM attachments has more digits than the number in the backend system.
¡        Maintain the number exit. The number exit is a program exit for document numbers. It controls number assignment and version numbering for documents. The default setting is MCDOKZNR. If you want to control the number assignment or the version increment via a USER_EXIT, then you have to replace the program MCDOKZNRwith a company-specific program. You can find further information in the field help for number exit.
¡        In the screen area Field selection, enter u2013 in the Document Status field.
           3.      Go to the dialog structure and double-click the entry Define object links. Define the new object links EKPO and EBAN. Maintain object link descriptions for EKPO (Purchase order item; Scr.no. 248) and EBAN (Purchase req. item; Scr. no. 247)
           4.      Define the workstation application in transaction DC30.
All required file types should be included in this list.

  • E6 stopped sync with IMAP email server

Hi, since Friday28th of October, in the morning I am experiencing a rather unpleasant issue: my Nokia E6 dos not connect to my company's email IMAP email accounts. I take the opportunity to report other 3 issues
I have 2 emails accounts @mycompany.com that were regularly being used. I did not update the firmware nor performed any changes on the phone, all of a sudden the E6 does not connect with the email accounts, there is no error message.
    I tried the following:
    1) Re-entered the password of the email account, I confirm this is right
    2) Created one of the email accounts that were on the E6 on 2 other devices (Ipad and Palm Pre), they work perfect, both on Wifi, on my operator,(Orange) and on an other phone operator (Swisscom)
    3) deleted one email account, from the E6. I restarted the phone (by holding the button 8 seconds) and recreated the email account, this is not possible, I get the following error message:
" service temporarily unavailable. Try again later. "
    4) I repeated the test (point3) both on WiFi and using the 3G operator. I got the same error
On the E6 there is also a Gmail account, which works flawlessly.
Using the email is not an option for my business, so I wish that THIS TIME I will get an effective reply from NOKIA. (please NOKIA don't tell me again that I have to use OVI account or my mailprovider does not work, because as explained I tested the settings on other devices.

However when you go to the mail wizard, to create a new account it's stated:
"During the activation procss, your email address, along with tech information such as your phone's serial number, may be sent to Nokia. Nokia will not process or store any identifiable information after the activation without your consent"
I thought once the account is up and running I was disconnected from Nokia servers. me fool.

  • Delete emails from server after retrieving with IMAP protocol?

    Hi,
I am using Mail as my email program and have set up my account with IMAP.
When I use the POP protocol, I get the option to 'Remove copy from server after retrieving message'. When I set up Mail with the IMAP protocol, there is no such an option. The result is that my server inbox is slowly filling up and I manually have to login on my server to delete older messages.
Is there a setting to automatically remove retrieved messages from my email server using IMAP?
    Thanks for your help.
    Erik

    Dear Thomas,
Thanks for the clarification! Now I understand the mechanism.
Still I would like to know if there is a way to automatically remove retrieved messages from the e-mail server. Would it help to automatically move my incoming messages in INBOX to a different mailbox in Mail.app? How would I set this up?
    Thanks for the response!
    Erik

  • My email account in Mail.app is IMAP, but when I delete emails, they don't delete from other devices connected to the mail server with IMAP. Deleted mail on other devices delete as normal from the server and thus from other devices as normal.

MacBook Pro, late 2011 version. Up to date Mountain Lion.
My email account in the Mail.app is set up as IMAP, but when I delete emails in the Mac Mail App, they are not deleted from the mail clients of the other devices that are connected to the mail server with IMAP. IMAP works perfectly between Windows Outlook 2010, iPad Mail App and Android default mail client. Deleted messages behave correctly, as in delete from one device and the mail is deleted from all devices.
Having just tested in reverse order on the Mac; emails deleted from the email client on Windows, iPad and Android are not deleted in the Mac Mail App.  It appears that the account is behaving like POP rather than IMAP.
Any advice on how to have IMAP work correctly on the MacBook Pro Mail.app?
    Thank you.

Hi Csound1, thanks. The email host is 1and1.co.uk, however, i am going to fess up and make myself look like a plonker now -
the email account in question was set up in Outlook as POP - stupid, stupid, stupid me, wasted an afternoon on this!  I have now changed the Outlook account to IMAP and Mail.app works perfectly - and looks much nicer than Outlook did.  Im in the middle of converting from Windows to a Mac, and still finding my way around the Mac
The lesson learned, never assume - always double  check!  All my other email addresses with 1and1 are all imap, except this one, and it happened to be the first one I set up in the Mail.app. (bows head in disgrace!)
Thank you anyway for attempting to help me!
    Cheers

  • How to only download/sync Apple Mail 6.3 with IMAP server manually

All my various e-mail addresses get forward to my AT&T/Yahoo e-mail server which I just started downloading/syncing with IMAP when I started using my new MacMini.  For years, I had just downloaded straight using POP.
I use IMAP to generally just download to my Inbox.  Fairly simple.  And I generally like to 'thin-out" my ATT/Yahoo Inbox on the server using the yahoo Mail app on my iphone before I download to the Mini.
The problem is, I can't keep Mail 6.3 from syncing with the server on its own!  How can I totally control Mail and tell it to sync/download only when I want it to happen. In Mail preferences > Accounts > advanced, I unchecked "include when automatically checking for messages" box.    Also, in Preferences > General I've selected Manually for "Check for new messages:".   Is there anything else to do?  Thank you.

  • Mail with IMAP don't work correctly with Lotus Domino server

I have a issue with the Mail program in Macbook Pro and Macbook Air.  I have a mail server, Lotus Domino. I configured Mail in the macbook to access Lotus domino with IMAP protocol and i have issue with the refresh.
When i read a email with me iPhone it's disappears in the "Inbox" folder in "Mail", goto "Trash mail". if i restart "Mail" then apperas in the inbox.
If i detele a email and go to the "trash" folder in my iPhone it's mail disappear and only can see it in Lotus Notes client.
If i restore the emails deleted, i need restart Mail otherwise.
I think Mail have a problem with IMAP.
Anyone know if there open a improvement about this? ( IMAP issues ).

Your problem sounds like your settings are wrong. IMAP definitely works with ease.

  • Getting Mail to work correctly with IMAP server (like Thunderbird does)?

    Hi guys,
Is it at all possible to get Mail to work in the same way that Thunderbird does with IMAP servers?
With my Mail setup as it is, if I save a message as a draft, it doesn't get put in the 'Draft' on the server, only on the mac. The junk filter puts it in a junk filter on the mac, not on the server. Same with sent email. And with trash it doesn't seem to put it anywhere, just trashes it. I much prefer Mail to Thunderbird in terms of GUI and such but if it won't put things in folders on the server like it does in Thunderbird I'll have to get that. Can this be done and if so anyone can tell me how?
    Thanks
    Max

    Hey Max,
All the things you are looking for can be found in Mail Preferences.
Go to File -> Preferences -> Mailbox Behaviors. The checkboxes on that page will do most of what you want to do.
Also, go to the Advanced pane in the Preferences as well, and check the drop-down menu under "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing". Select the option that fits your particular work style.
    I hope that helps,
    - CJ

  • Trouble connecting to MS Exchange server with IMAP

I've been trying to setup Apple mail to talk with the Exchange server at work.
I've had no luck after many attempts.
    Mac Mini, Intel Core Duo
    OS X 10.4.5
    Mail 2.0.6
I can connect to the mail server using Safari via Outlook Web Access fine, so my account information must be good...
The sys admin at work, though not Mac savvy, said to use IMAP.
A few other Mac users at work have gotten this to work from their homes with no hassles but non of their suggestions have helped.
    The account parameters are:
    General Information
    Account Type: IMAP
    Account Description: IMAP Account
    Fill Name: First-name Last-name
    Email Address: <user>@<domain>.com
    Incoming Mail Server
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.<domain>.com
    User Name: <windows-domainname>\user
    Password: <password>
After this window I click Continue and wait ....
Eventually Mail times out with the message:
The IMAP server mail.<domain>.com is not responding ...
    Can someone help ...
    Some related questions:
Do I need have the VPN to work established for Mail to work ?
I've tried it both ways and they both fail.
How do I get additional debug/log information out of mail ?
What is the difference between an Exchange account and an IMAP account ?

Try enabling a secure connection to the IMAP-server in account setup (which also should change the port to be used).
Try using the servername found in the WebAccess URL (http://servername/exchange) instead of mail.<domain>.com if it is different.
Try using user@windows-domainname instead of windows-domainname\user.
If this all does not help, be sure to enable your AD-account for IMAP-access. This is a per account configuration. Just installing the IMAP-connector on the Exchange-server does not grant IMAP-access to everybody.

  • Sending attachments with Netzero as SMTP server

Since upgrading to Leopard last November, I have been unable to send emails with attachments. Email is received, with or without attachments, with no problem. Text emails can be sent with no problems. Netzero is the ISP, and is set as the outgoing SMTP server. Attachments were no problem with Tiger. I have also tried using gmail as the outgoing SMTP server, to no avail. I installed Thunderbird, and have the same result. I've contacted Netzero, and cannot get a definite response. I have also tried using the Mac dial-up software to by-pass Netzero but am able to send or receive with Mail.
Is anyone able to send attachments to emails while using Netzero as the SMTP server? If so, I'd certainly appreciate advise, and I'd know that it's my problem somewhere. Thanks!

Sammie - I have not been able to solve this frustrating problem
yet....I have exchanged emails with Netzero, and they say the are
"working on the problem". I have also posted information as feedback
to Apple, at http://www.apple.com/feedback, which you may wish to do
    also.
I have two work-arounds, as you may have seen in some of my posts at
the discussion forums. If you haven't seen them, they are:
First, you can use a webmail service...for instance, you can compose
mail from your NetZero account (or gmail, for example), and upload
your attachments before sending. This is slow, but works. Secondly, you can
make a new, small (e.g., 25GB) partition on your Leopard disk, and
install Tiger on that partition. I then drag and drop attachments
into this partition from my Leopard disk, then restart on the Tiger
disk. I am then able to use the Tiger Mail application to compose and send the
message for me. This is cumbersome, but it does work, and I don't have to change providers.
I'm glad to see that were not alone, though! Please let me know if you are able to figure this out...I'll keep you posted as well. Bill

  • Mail is killing the processes on my server with IMAP

Why is mail over running my server with IMAP processes?
I've had to start killing the process like crazy cause it was causing other services on my website to fail.
i contact support for Hostgator and they asked if i was using Mac Mail. i said yes, and he said, yeah mac mail does that. what's that suppose to mean?
it really hasn't happened in the past, why now?

I have found a temporary fix, until Apple addresses the issue.
For those with access to the cPanel for their hosting account, you will need to create a Cron Job. At blueHOST.com I have access to this feature. I created a cron job via the cPanel to run every two minutes (because I have so many users running mail at the same time.) And the command is "killall imap" (without the quotes). This will do as advertised, kill all imap processes, old and new, every two minutes. You can set the amount of minutes to anything you want.
I can thank a senior tech at blueHOST for the idea. It may be strong-arming the situation, but it gives my client back their blog.
In my first post here, I said I sent this to MacFixIt. They never published or followed up on the eMail I sent. But I've also formally sent this as an issue via Apple Support. With any luck it will be fixed with the 10.5.7 update when it comes out.
If you have not made a formal report to Apple I strongly suggest you go to the Mac OS X Feedback page & file a detailed report of the issue you are having with IMAP processes & Mail.app. Reporting in the support forums may not be enough to get the full attention of Apple.
I will also post this on my blog.

  • Serious performance problems with IMAP

    Hi,
our Groupwise server runs on SLES10 SP4, has about 2500 accounts in 7 postoffices, one gwia, one mta and webaccess.
When IMAP is activated on the gwia, the cpu load goes to 99% after a couple of hours, making the server unusable. When I turn IMAP off the cpu load is stable under 1%.
We have already limited the number of items per folder to 1000.
Where do I look? What do I do? I'm at my wits end!!!

I'm trying to send attachments with emails using Javamail. Following is the code through which I'm trying to achieve that. It works as expected on a JRE1.6 environment. But on JRE1.5, the content of the file gets added to the mail body as text.I want the file to be sent as an attachment.
